[Q] Pac-Man 4.3 issue. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! :victory:
Im having an issue that i cant find a way to fix or anything...
Im using ROM][OFFICIAL][JB 4.3][i9305] PAC-man [PA/CM/AOKP]
on my i9305 with a custom kernel wich is [KERNEL][AGNi][CM 4.2.2/4.3] 05-08-2013 AGNi pureCM v2.3.3a I9305 (ULTRA SMOOTH). Working pretty smooth and everything, except a few annoyances here and there... The problem i dont really want to have is when i try to enter PAC-man settings in Settings. Then i get a crash in settings with this annoying message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped".
Anyone have an idea whats causing this, how to fix/get pass this or anything?
Another question i have is what kernel is recommended for a 4.3 JB rom on i9305?
Im also new on this forum and i think this place rocks! Im a person that loooove to tickle stuff under the hood... Maybe to much!
And this place seems to be the place for me to get stuff to do this!
// Cheers in advance! :good:

Try fix permissions in Recovery mode.

Also you could try to use the kernel which comes with rom..

How to flash rom i9300 china

Hello
i have china s3 mtk6575 rooted + CWM installed
im not sure if after root i an flash any custom rom for original s3 or i need to do something else
tnx
BoB
Is it a SIII-clone or a genuine Galaxy S III ?
If you're in doubt, use this application to check:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alxdroiddev.gs3identity
my cp is android Chinese s3
This is a Samsung S III forum.
The mtk6575 is a clone of the Samsung Galaxy S III. It is not a genuine Galaxy S III. Samsung does NOT manufacture phones with the mtk6575 CPU.
I'm sorry, but you won't find support for your device here.

Repeat you have two choices one find a clonem mtk6575 phone forum or two try and flash I9300 firmware on your phone that is not I9300 and is different in many respects and almost certainly going to brick it .
Why would user of this forum know the answer to your question they are not going to be posting here if its not I9300 .

Following you? There have been 4 threads today about fake phones and on all of them I pointed the users to a tool to properly tell them if their phones are real or not (most users don't have a clue their phones are fake). After figuring out their devices are fake, when these users have some common sense, they go somewhere else for answers, since they surely won't find them here.
You come posting questions about fake phones on S III forum and still wait for an answer?
there is no such thing as "chinese S3". Only Samsung makes the S III. Everything else are cheap fakes which illegally use the Samsung branding and whose hardware has absolutely nothing in common with the genuine S III.

Which rom is better for S2G

as Samsung till now don't update GT-I9100G with gelly bean. I decided to flash a custom rom
I downgrade as you advised me to ICS 4.0.3 KSA but I still have Insane chip
Now I must flash a CWM to flash the custom rom, It's safe to do this now as I will wipe data from it (CWM)
1-What is the appropriate CWM to my phone? and how can I flash it Via odin or Via Recovery mode?
2-I'm living in KSA which rom i choose [JB][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies or [JB 4.1.2][PA2.55][AOKP-ML1][CM10]P.A.C True All in 1 ROM? as I need mobile to read and write arabic without any external applications.
3- I had a problem "my phone is always open but when some one try to call me it say mobile is closed" Is that from the rom cause of different modem in rom or how can i fix this (this problem not from the carrier as i try the sim in Nokia mobile and worked fine).

Hey ma8 stop making multiple threads for each of ur issues in the first place and also do not post 'what ROM/Kernel/Modem is the best for my phone' type question as they r against XDA rules, for which u might even have an 'Infraction' by the Mods
visit the link below and try out a cpl of them to see the one that suits ur needs better

Cheers for now!
As you reply with this you could answer my question then tell me what you want

first, u have a 'G' model (I9100G) which is quite Different Hardware wise fro I9100 international version and its variants M/P/T etc, so any advice given to u here with some gross oversight might hardbrick ur phone for sure ma8
hence i have given u the appropriate link for ur model (I9100G) in my previous post, so visit there and see
u have a 'Q & A' thread for i9100g there also, so try posting ur issue there for better results.
Hope its clear for u know

Remember guys, ROMs/kernels etc are all subjective so there really is no "best ROM" only ROMs that work best for you

Is rooting still risky for the SIII?

Hey guys.. I had a bad experience with an SIII once. I'm a student so with all the careful investments and all i managed to buy the SIII when it was out... With Android 4.0.4 on it.. It was the best thing at that time... But... I once rooted it... And.. After rooting it, it did went fine but it shut down on me once :/ and never turned on! Since then I am afraid of losing this other SIII i bought.
The warranty of this is over so I think its a good thing to flash a ROM and harness its true potential.. But.. U know having that loss is big!
I wanna know a few things:
1. Will rooting cause any problems for the phone? After or before it... After ROMs and all..
2. If (say) it does end up in a problem can I recover it? Because at that time you couldnt recover it. (Stupid 4.0.4 Sudden Death).
Thanks!

Nothing to do with root. This was SDS. Read threads in General > Sticky Roll-up thread for more info. There are SDS threads in here

You'll have to make up your own mind here. I would recommend reading General > Stick roll-up thread > Understanding the basics before rooting
Failure to read causes more problems than rooting .

Thanks for the response!
I actually know most of the basics of rooting.. I currently own a Nexus 4 and flashing ROMs etc is basically my thing. I was just wondering if the SDS is safe and all after rooting. And yeah SDS was that got my phone in the first place. Either way... What I have checked from the threads and all (yeah i read those before actually) that Staying Stock and staying on a Custom ROM with a "safe" kernel have equal chances of the SDS (which currently is in the form of lock-ups and rebooting crazily).

No, these are S3 Specific basics that you MUST know. Nexus basics will not help.

It's been fixed in everything since January 2013. Just don't flash old stuff and you'll be fine.

Oh ok.. I've been reading almost every thread about that. And i think his phone isn't as badly effected since he said on 4.1.1 (without SD-Fix) his phone never locked up or anything.. On 4.1.2 he had just 3 freezes and just.... Minor... So i think rooting won't do such a bad thing
Anyways.. Since there is an impossible chance of getting the SDS... If somehow i encounter a similar situation... You have TONNES OF EXPERIENCE in that... Do u think that is recoverable? Thanks for your time
SDS is recoverable you just fit a new motherboard .

[Q&A] [Kernel] TRIM: Fast and Stable CyanogenMod 11 on the Galaxy S2 AT&T i777

[Q&A] [Kernel] TRIM: Fast and Stable CyanogenMod 11 on the Galaxy S2 AT&T i777
Q&A for [Kernel] TRIM: Fast and Stable CyanogenMod 11 on the Galaxy S2 AT&T i777
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [Kernel] TRIM: Fast and Stable CyanogenMod 11 on the Galaxy S2 AT&T i777. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Before I get into it I'd like to thank Lanchon, and whomever else, for putting work in and figuring out how to get Galaxy S2 users back up to speed with trim, I installed the latest version of your kernel on my AT&T i777 and it feels like a brand new phone. I didn't do any benchmarks before the trim but it was dog slow to be sure, afterwards my benchmark numbers were in line with the after results in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54724225&postcount=1
There is one problem I was hoping you'd be able to help with. I'm currently using your kernel-Lanchon-TRIM-FPBug-20150113-cm-11-nightly-crossflash-i777 along with the cm-11-20150118-NIGHTLY-i9100 rom (reflashed your kernel after installing the rom) and I'm encountering heavy wakelocks and battery drain while idle from boot_hsic which I've come to understand is some interconnect between the processor and onboard modem and is controlled by the kernel. I've kept the i777 in airplane mode and want to use it as wifi only, I recently upgraded phones so there's no SIM card in it. I've tried disabling the Phone based APKs in the rom but that's of no help.

There is one method to get rid of the drain which requires shutting down and pulling the battery for a while but the bug seems to come back on reboot.
Any help would be appreciated

thanks for writing.
unfortunately i dont own the device. all i can say is:
-try flashing an up to date modem
-try contacting other users of crossflash and see if this is a general problem or a problem of your particular setup.

Flashing the up to date modem was the issue, thanks for the hunch. I guess in all of the formatting/cleaning up I wiped it out somehow. I reinstalled CM11 and your kernel then the I777UCMD8 modem and the wakelocks stopped.
Thanks again!
Installed CM11 20150111 nightly + Lanchon 20150113
Works and I'm messing around with it. Thanks.
I PM'ed Lanchon about a cm12 version and here's the reply for the record Also thanks for all the work you've done so far!

All this partitioning stuff has me a bit sketched, but I hate how kitkat disabled USB mass storage (without me knowing or I wouldn't have upgraded) any custom ways around this with new roms?

Well that doesn't really bother me .....I'm about to hit the buy button just need to find out if the LTE version supports 3G Bands as well....as there is no LTE where I live. Seems from all I read that it only supports LTE so if it's confirmed I'd better get WiFi only....

Hello, I'm new here, I'd like to know if someone knows if the drawing pen that was compatible with the previous Mi pads is compatible with the Mi Pad 4. Because the main motivation for me to get one is to be able to draw, not perfectly like on a Wacom, when I'm on the go. Thank you for your answer
Hi everyone!
I intend to install it in a car and the hardware buttons will not be accessible, just the screen.
With that in mind, I wanted to ask if there's a way to make this tablet boot up when it gets power through the charging cord? Additionally, would there be a way to make it shut down, say, 5 minutes after charging is disengaged?
Or maybe there's a way to put it to sleep, or hibernate it?
For instance, would this work? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=auto.boot
Or this? developwear.com/blog/2014/07/03/autobootstart-android-when-charger-is-connected/
I'm sorry I had to remove the http headers, the forum wouldn't let me post links any other way.

Would what?
Why doesn't this tablet have dual apps? Is it because mine isn't on the global ROM or is it missing from there too?
I also can't seem to install apk files anymore which is annoying since I can't flash gapps yet. Even with installation unknown sources allowed, I still can't install from file manager/chrome/Firefox, only way I can get apps is the mistore which if fairly useless. Is the app on mistore that downloads gapps on mistore still there, as I can't find it?
Hoping that once I get unlock permission I should be able to sort these issues out myself, but if anyone has some solutions in the meantime I'd appreciate it
