I will try to keep this short and sweet, but it is what it is. Please don't let this be the end of my phone!! so i had my vibrant rooted and running a cm. 10 rom. i was an idiot and when it randomly flipped into recovery mode and wouldn't do anything else i panicked. I immediately factory reset which wasn't bad but when the problem wasn't solved instead of reinstalling the zip, (I wasn't thinking about it at the time) I figured using odin I would reinstall éclair. now my phone is in boot loop and will only pull up the boot menu if the sd card is in. another symptom is that when i use odin to install éclair everything in the process works as it should up until it gets to the reset then the phone says cannot wipe data... phone reboot then it shows that it is charging and when i unplug it and try to power it up i still get boot loop if anyone knows the solution to this I would greatly appreciate it and any other ideas I could try to bring this baby back to life. ANY SUGGESTIONS AT ALL ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED
Perhaps you are not using Odin properly? You're using the file called pda .tar and the .pit file? And be sure to uncheck the repartition toggle.

I assume that I am doing it right... from what I have researched it is correct. I have double checked to make sure that the tar goes into the pda and that the pit has pit. but the reparition toggle may be something I over looked. I just downloaded the pit and tar files online would there be anyway that those could be the wrong file or I have to use a proper combination of two files? do you suggest downloading those files from a certain site? Once again thanks a bunch for your comment!

I could not figure that program out to save my life the comments made me believe that its an app for the phone itself. but my phone doesn't boot up.
im kinda thinking that the problem is actually when the phone says cant wipe data. because then the loading bar stops and it boots straight from there. What would keep the phone from not being able to wipe the data?
Use that aio program. Put the phone into download mode start phone while holding volume up and power. Then use the aio oden. It cones with the correct files.

A corrupted internal SD card most likely , have you been on an ICS ROM lately? Try to Odin Eugene's Froyo that does not brick, if this works then you most likely got hit by the EU bug. If this is the case you will have to do the external SD card work around.

maybe this will tell you more if my phone has a dead internal sd card. I just barley noticed this but the phone actually doesn't bootloop unless the external sd card is in. if the external is in the phone shows the Samsung vibrant logo and then it turns off. if you hit power it will try to boot again.

My phone was rooted using zedomax's kernel, and is now running siyah. I had to reformat both my sd card and my internal storage so my backups are gone, and I'm unable to connect it to my computer to change kernels or anything of the sort. Every time I try to unroot using odin it refuses to work, and I'm just completely at a loss. I want to delete everything on my phone including the rom and basically reset everything on the phone. Is there any way at all that I can do that or am I stuck with a rooted phone that won't let me even connect it to the computer? I'm extremely frustrated right now, and just want my phone fixed.
EDIT: New update, I am unable to mount my SD card.
A search would have lead you to the 'return to stock' thread.

I would say try mobile Odin and use dropbox to get the stock files on your device. I would be sure to read very carefully first. Maybe even try a different USB cable or a different computer. Also make sure your PC has the kies drivers installed. When you use Odin make sure Odin is running before you connect your phone to put it in download mode. Good luck

Its pretty easy, install the dropbox app on your computer and phone. You put the stock files in your dropbox sync folder on your PC and upload them. Then download them from your mobile app

This is probably a really dumb question, but what files do I need?
If your phone charges I doubt its a USB port issue and more likely a driver on your CPU or your missing a step in the return to stock thread.

OK. With the one click app open and your phone disconnected and turned off you need to hold down the volume down button and connect the micro USB. Then when the warning screen comes on press volume up.When you do that does a box on Odin turn yellow and say something like com6?

I have a ATT sgh-1717 samsung note with Android 4.0 on it. I tried to root it this morning using Odin3 and pda.tar. It passed but I am unable to put on the next file Superuser 3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip. It just goes to a black screen with samsung logo. If I hold down the volume up and down at the same time as the power button I am able to go into Clockwork mode. I can not reboot my phone. What can I do at this point? Is there a way to copy the zip file to the sd card on my phone? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated! I have been reading all day and am quite frustrated at this point. Of course my schedule is on my phone....Thank you so much.

I found the easiest way for me was to download custom Rom to sd.move it to external.odin cwm then flash twrp.reboot to recovery n wipe all caches.system.internal.not external.then install ur custom Rom.reboot system n let Rom settle.most roms already have the rooted files.if ur planning to stay stock.there's plenty of present roms for that.n make sure all the devs get their thx

I have an ATT Note 1717, It got bricked during a bad root. Referring to this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634087, I'm trying to complete the last step with the Image file and the ADB command. Just taught myself how to do this reading on the net. When I try the ADB command for the image file ADB tells me the file does not exist. I copied and pasted as suggested and placed the recovery image file from the original stock tar on the SD card and the internal USB storage file, but to no avial. I noticed when I view my device on windows explorer it shows the SD card as simply Card. Is this maybe the problem? Should the sdcard command be edited to read just Card in the ADB command. I'm affraid to try this on my own fearing it will brick the phone again. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing here
Use odin itll be far simpler and painlessd

You might give some more info on what all you did or what file you were trying to flash....
Sounds like the problem of Gingerbread root on ICS system, or vice-versa. Just redo your work, ensuring you use the appropriate file for your system.
By the way, NEVER tweak your system until you learn to move important stuff to your external sd card or pc.

Then I was going to use Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8-d2att.zip, but used the wrong gapps (Google Apps) file, gapps-jb-20120726-signed, instead of Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8-gapps. Now, I have a black screen, and on my Mac, the thing just connects and reconnects all by itself! Can I get out of this, if I can't get to a restore screen?

You were going to flash the wrong Rom anyways d2att is s3. Would have bricked you right there if you flashed it. If you can't get to download mode or recovery you will most likely need jtag

Is that something one can do themselves? What is JTAG?

A JTAG is a recovery service offered for bricked phones. You can find one for your device at mobiletechvideos.com for 50$. Just Google android JTAG service. It will come up. Hit thanks

There has to be another answer...
When you find it, come back here and share it with us.
JTAG service costs $50, takes a week, and restores a phone that cannot enter recovery, or download mode, or isn't recognised by a computer.

MobileTechVideo Works

Just to chime in here... I just got my AT&T Note back from MobileTechVideo. I had them do a JTAG repair ($50) and ordered a new jig. They replied with fast, reliable service. I highly recommend them if you decide to send your phone out for repair.

Thanks, but I found someone a little more personal...when I approached them, they simply recommended that I send it to them, rather than try some basic troubleshooting... Maybe just the way they do things...lots of volume with MobileTechVideo...

Can you get into DL mode? I'm guessing so since you tried to use odin.
Do you have the Samsung Kies drivers installed from the Kies app too?
Idk, people have had issues on some computers... they are so common now, i'd just try to go to another one and see if it works.

I cant do nothing all I can do is get into TMRW and the download thing that's it phone wont start up are nothing....
it just sets saying Samsung .... I tired to do everything but it all have to have bebuggy mode on but I cant turn it on????
From your typing, I can see that it has rattled you. I will try and help, but am no genius bar. Did you install an alternate recovery? Twrp, or Clockworkmod? If you pull the battery, and hold down the power button, volume up(or down), and home, What happens? Does it continue to the Samsung animation?
Edit: this thread may help.

For some reason I thought you had stock.
Anyways, what you should do is just download a rom to an SD card, boot into recovery, wipe system/dalvik+cache/and reinstall the ROM on your SD.
Yeah no I didn't Do no recovery are nothing I never made one and when I hold them down I go in to tmrw but if I just turn on it does not do nothing but say Samsung.... sets there for hrs nothing

dude, let the meanbean thing go. if you want your stuff back, just get another ROM like beans or cleanrom and install it.
Just take the sd card out of the phone. Use another computer that has a card reader. Download whatever Rom, put it on the card, and put back in the phone and try to flash.

Do you have an old phone or access to someone else's phone? Just take the card out, put in their phone, then connect with a usb cable and transfer that way.

go to the store and get a mini sd adapter. they are super cheap. or just buy an sd card that comes with one and return it when you are done.
First rule of modding.... Always make a backup. I carry around a backup of completely stock rooted on my sd card at all times. If I run into problems, I just use the backup. Your best bet is to do like the guys above me said. Download a rom, and transfer it to the card. After you j get out of this mess, you will be more prepared next time. You had me completely confused about trwp. Good luck
