it kind of depends on which version you are running.
you should always read OP............its right there
if it is one of JAIME's previews...............- go to about phone, tap build until you get developer options in settings
- set root to APPS and ADB now you have root.
on other versions................................
if under settings you already have developers options, then you only need to do second part

tap build under about phone several times quickly. you should see small black window toward bottom briefly saying "you now have developer options.
back out a screen and under settings you should now see developer options available ???

have you tried opening something that will ask root permission?

really i didn't know that, i don't really like MIUI ROM but if other devs could somehow implement this into their ROM that would be great,i run Cognition ROM (for Galaxy S2)
try adding this to your build.prop
net.bt.timeout=never
or
net.bt.timeout=
leave after the = sign blank to the second one to leave it nulled e.g never time out
hopefully they work

Sorry for "hacking" this thread, I was wondering whether it is possible to hack a Bluetooth so as to be able to connect two external Bluetooth speakers of different brands (JBL & Ultimate Ears).
Thank you.

Yeah, I was saying that a developer had to add the option. I'd expect it to be there for the custom roms, once they start appearing.

Anyone managed to write to build prop?
Why does it say unfortunately app n shortcut has stop...is that a bug..
So how can i edit the build prop if it doesn't seem to save it? I'm on this kernel and i think system is still not writing. Anyone got this working?? Please do tell us how?

I just changed it to Galaxy Nexus by using Root Explorer and it worked correctly.
Be sure you are on the latest kernel, as it is the only one that allows writing to /system while booted into android.

I can confirm that editing build prop does work and stick on reboot. Was able to make photosphere stop working and start working again as a test.
You may have to reboot one more time. After installing it I updated superuser and it had a read/write error. After rebooting it is fine.
And once again my phone hates any kernel that's out beside stock. I wonder what's the problem that my phone hasn't been able to run without freezing and rebooting

It's this s-off or a workaround?

According to the developer, neither. IDK, it seems like we can pretty much do anything now.
I posted a "stock" version. For those who cannot seem to run anything else without driving me nuts, um, I mean without problems.

Most unlock methods do not keep us from writing to /system, this fixes that for us.

very simple mod very simple op
*** THIS IS FOR THE CAP BUTTONS - Menu - Home - Back - Search - not for nav bar ***
since the new cm rebase kernel was pushed some things have changed.
my old enable/disable no longer works on the new rebase so here is the new zips
should work on all cm/aosp based 4.2.2 and 4.3 roms
disable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/13402-disable-capacitive-buttons-new-jd81
enable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/13403-enable-capacitive-buttons-new-jd81
for 4.1.2 roms use
disable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/639-disable-capacitive-buttons-jd81-zip
enable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/640-enable-capacitive-buttons-jd81-zip
just flash in recovery and reboot *put both zip's on your phone* flash disable and reboot, if you dont like it then flash enable and go on with your day
if this zip doesnt work for you *ie buttons still work after reboot* well then you dont have the proper rom,
either go on with your day or
-open a file manager
-go to /system/usr/keylayout
-delete the file sec_touchkey.kl
-reboot and go on with your day
Nice! Thanks Jamie, will definitely come in handy for me Pie/Nav bar addition!

it should, there was no change from 4.2.2 to 4.3 in the touch drivers like there was with 4.1.2 to 4.2.2

Hello, first off, well done with this, its working perfectly for my note on PAC JB rom, but was wondering if there is anyway to disable the lights for the buttons, they don't work, but still light up, just wondering, have been searching for a bit and will continue to, but thought I would ask here too, thanks again for all the work you do, have a good one!

edit: i updated op to link to older files
Thought I'd share this for anyone who wants to disable the capacitive button lights. Credit goes to the original post I found at..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210765
To turn off capacitive button lights:
1. Download a file manager with root access. I used Root Browser.
2. Go to system/lib/hw
3. Find the file named 'lights.msm8660.so'
4. Rename it to anything such as "lights.msm8660.so.old"
5. Reboot.
So title says it all....is there anyway to disable the soft buttons? I give my phone to my boy so he can watch videos and movies but he hits a button every time. Not sure if there is a hack to disable them since I have pie or on screen soft buttons to use.

This should work for you.. not that simple since you need to modify your build.prop(meaning I don't believe there is app, but you can search)

Two options that work good in my opinion.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zoodles.kidmode
Kid lets you block access to apps selectively. So no web browser or play store from angry birds etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.kidslock
And if you are using mx player for movies, then lock them into the app with this plug in.
Good luck, kids are much smarter than they appear with these devices!
