[Q] HELP Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 won't boot into recovery - Samsung Galaxy Mega

So I have rooted all my previous phones which have been HTC's, this is my first samsung so everything is new to me, I have downloaded the recovery file and flashed it using Odin, it says Pass so I believe everything went smoothly. However, when I turn it on to boot into recovery it says..
recovery booting...
wp_sector_check sector = 0 (It has more to this line and says it twice but it restarts before I can write it all down.
Does anyone know how I can change this?
I have tried different recovery files and nothing seems to work.
Would flashing the original kernal put it back to stock recovery?
Please help!!

Same here...can't boot into recovery via button-combination (vol-up + power / vol-up + power + Home) when the device is off.
I always have to boot into the system and from there I can boot into recovery via reboot-recovery-shortcut of RomToolbox...try this, for me it is the only way to get into recovery.
Or you can install Xposed framework and the module "Wanam Xposed" from Playstore to enable 4-way-reboot-menue via power-button.

Maybe your buttons aren't working as well as they should? Mine is kind of the opposite, I've booted into recovery by accident by touching the vol up button at the wrong moment.
Just to be clear it's Vol Up + Power for Recovery - Vol Down + Power for Software Load though you can actually let go of the power button as soon as the reboot or power up process starts.

The thing is I have actually rooted yet, I was using the method where you installed CWM recovery and then installed the updated su file through CWM.
But since I can not get into recovery I can not root.
I was going to use this Method next http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355680 which I probably should have used from the start, but now I darn't do it since if it ****s up I have no way of getting into recovery to change anything.
Have you tried finding the stock recovery and flashing that?
I really don't want to root until I have a working recovery to make backups etc...

@Troute
Thanks for the hint...finally managed to get into recovery: Mega was off, pressed Vol-Up and Power, screen showed "recovery booting" and then I let go the Power-Button still pressing Vol-Up...and it booted into recovery.

You're very welcome Berlino

Okay so I finally took the plunge and rooted using the method above however, when I click the shortcut you mentioned above I still get the same error which is really worrying.
Does anyone have a link to the stock recovery for the Galaxy Mega 6.3 LTE (GT-I9205)?
Really starting to worry now.
Edit: I have since flashed a stock recovery, it wasn't for the LTE version but it seems to have worked anyway. At least now if something goes wrong I can wipe the phone and try again. Unfortunately I can not make a backup of the current settings though using the stock recovery.

Hi I have a question that is similar to yours. I have rooted my mega i9205 successfully but I cannot move any app from device storage to the sd card... :crying: I tried with several apps like link2sd app2sd e.t.c. and it says that the phone does not support app move.
In this situation the root is completely unusable for me cuz I rooted with the hope that I will be able to move the big apps to the sd card.
If will be really grateful if someone can help me

Is your mega showing the SD card, go to settings and then tap on the more tab and select storage and at the bottom there should be a SD card section and see if that is not grayed out as that should show if your SD card is mounted, what you could do if your SD card shows in that section is un-mount it and reformat it and then re-mount the SD card, unless you have to re-mount it before it will let you format..not quite sure on that part
Then tap on the return soft key so that you are back in the more section again and go up to app manager and go into it and let it load up the apps and tap on a app you want to check or move and it will bring up the app info screen and if you see the "Move to SD card button light up then that app should be able to be moved the SD card, not sure if this help in your situation but is worth a try, and make sure your SD card is compatible with your phone, but if the SD card shows up then it should work you think...worth a go anyways..i haven't got a SD card just yet..but hopefully soon i will. :good:
And on the recovery part for the other members when the device is off and you press vol-up + power button at the same time as soon as it vibrates or the Samsung Mega screen shows you can release both buttons at the same time and it should boot into recovery as it works great this way on my mega.

My mega does not come with a SD card as i have the 16gb model, but if you take your SD card out of phone does it still not show that move to SD card button in application manager or does it show up if your SD card is out, and if it does not then that is weird as that button should be there i am thinking as it should be there but grayed out...try a app called active apps from the play store as it is free and install it and open it up and go to page 2 which is package manager and you will see a list of your apps now beside the icon that is for an app on the left side tap on the name of the app that is just beside that app's icon and it should show the app info like application manager does and see if the move to SD card button is there in that program, i guess i am getting a little off the thread topic here..sorry about that.

Move2SD option is disabled in app manager (like first SW version of Galaxy S4)... it will be probably solved with next 4.2.2 patch or with 4.3 update

samsung mega help
OK I was able to get my Mega into Odin mode and downloaded the recovery.MD5 file and went the the process in Odin and it said it passed but when reading how to reset it with Odin it told me it would reboot once it said passed and it went from download mode to the black screen after the white Samsung logo. I found a repair place that will fix it they had told me it would take 6 hours to repair it based on what info I gave him over the phone so I take it to him cause I am stumped with anymore ideas. He calls me the next day and said the phone won't respond to what he is trying to do and needs to replace the Board but don't have it in stock and will order it should be here in 2 days. Does anyone know if this is normal or am I about to get scammed out of my phone? Any advice please.

help me oooo

i flash correctly the twrp (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-melius) with odin BUT...... i don't know how to acces the twrp!
i am inside odin, (auto reboot unchecked) i select the tar file on AP, i press start, but i am not able to enter to twrp DIRECTLY FROM ODIN.
this the odin log

could my problem be related to a NOT ORIGINAL DISPLAY? i replaced it, it is not original.

[Q]I really need help with: error: E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmblk0p1

btw: super noob here
ok so i am getting this error and i dont know why
i rooted my phone and when i tried to upgrade to 2.2 (using odin) i got this:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:
it takes me to recovery mode and just stays there with 5 options (reboot, apply sd card: update.zip, wipe data/fact. reset, wipe cache, format internal sd).
the worst part is that i found out (after research, as thus i could be wrong) that i must have somehow gotten euro firmware because my up key moves down in recovery mode and my power key isnt the "ok" key used to select anything in this damn menu!!!
ive only rooted my phone...and i got the regular update.zip (saved to internal like instructed) like everyone else (i think) + tethering and set cpu (saved zip to my external sd card)
so....i cant exit recovery mode, i cant even select any of those 5 options
i can turn off my phone, but it immediately goes back to the recovery page with the error
please please please help
mom bought me this for my birthday like 3 days ago and the walkthrough seemed easy!
i will pay and bring my phone to you if you can fix it lol
what you should do is boot into download mode and flash the stock rom.. it will unroot u but its better then not havin a fone to root at all right?
if u have troubles booting into download mode try holding down the up and down volume keys while the fones off then plug the usb cord into ur fone it shood bring u to the download mode screen.. but make sure u hold the volume buttons down before u plug it in
thanks....i would really really appreciate it if you told me how exactly to flash a stock file (put it in the odin thingie? PDA, MODEM, or CSC? is this the right file: T959UVJFD.tar? please let me know
There is a walkthrough on this site on how to use odin to flash back to stock. I believe you have the right file there. But you will probably have to flash the pit file as well. I would just to be safe. This will set everything back to stock. Odin can be picky, and make you want to cry. But relax, your still ok. You can get into recovery mode, so you should be able to access download mode. Do a little reading on the site. You should be able to find the links to odin. If you can't, pm me, I will help. I've used odin before, and even though this is scary right now, you need to stay calm. Panicking isn't goin to help. I am new on the site so I can't post links. If you can't find them, contact me, I will e-mail them to you or some thing. Good luck!
Did you get it figured out yet? ODIN should fix you up. Flash the stock build here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739091 just download this, unzip it and load the pit file into the pit field and the larger file in the pda field in odin. Make sure to have this loaded into odin before plugging your phone in or it might not work. To get into download mode just power off your device and hold volume up and down then plug in your usb cable.

If I remember correctly, /dev/block/mmcblk refers to your SD cards. mmcblk0 is the internal (16GB) SD card, and mmcblk1 is whatever extra microSD card you have installed. /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 is the first partition on your internal SD card.
What most likely happened is you messed up your Odin installation, and probably chose to "reformat partitions" when you flashed, wiping your internal card, and thus essentially making your phone unbootable in its current state.
Why you needed Odin to root is beyond me, yet so is why someone would do something that could cause irreparable harm to their device do so without understanding what they were doing. If you are going to ignore the warnings attached to flashing unsupported ROMs (such as flashing an unreleased testing ROM onto a completely different device than it was intended), then you ought to at least understand what it is that you are actually doing.
Also, what does this have to do with development? Aren't there similar posts in the Q&A forum about people who have done the same thing?
that´s SD problem 100% sure. yesterday i had this problem and solved with a newone SD card. (older was 512Mb and not working, newone is 1gb and all was ok)
Were you trying to use Eugene's files? If so you need to follow the directions in his thread.

I got a same problem. As you said I tried start download mode. But the Android system recovery <3e> page still appearing. Firstly battery picture appear and then system recovery. Is there another way to boot into download mode?
There is the three button mode, vol up and down plus power, or if you plan to flash alot of rom's, get a jig. there is adb. also aio tools.
one of these should get you into dl mode to odin.
you are in recovery mode if it says "2E" or "3E" recovery you should be able to get into download mode and then you can flash back into stock.
To get to download mode plug in you usb into the computer first. then, hold the volume keys both down then plug into the phone (while it is showing the recovery mode, in other words it is still on) if it does not work, then pull out then try again a couple of times When you plug it in leave for 2-3 secs. If this does not work or you can't get it Then, just buy a Jig from the xda member connextion2005 (mobilevideotech.com I think). they are 8 bucks and all you do in just plug it in and it will bring up the download mode. From there you can do this
Get the Odin program 1.7 or newer, get the Stock 2.1 Tar file, get the 512pit file
You can find these in the general forum in the thread called Noob guide
then
Open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode. connect it to the computer it will recognize might say com8 or some other number
Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
You want to check the 're-partition' box.
Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine!
Then, root the phone and you can flash your new Rom.
You the super oneclick method it is easier to root then download Rom manager and now you can flash any rom you want
Still can't mount internal SD
I've tried the above steps and was able to get out of Recovery Mode, but now I can't get the Internal SD to mount to allow me to put custom ROMs on there...any ideas??

[Q] Flashed with odin on my Bell/Virgin vibrant stuck in a loop

Today was I was watching the video on how to flash darky's resurrection.zip rom,
then zi tried flashing it to my wifes Vibrant , I folloeed the video step by step. I used odin I get the green light saying the phone passed then when it reboots it get stuck on the galaxyi900 screen and it doesnt boot up. Ive flashed the thing with odin at least 10 -15 times after and still no luck, it keeps getting stuck at the opening. My wife says if I dont fix it I have to buy her a new phone. Someone save me please!!!!!!
LMAO........... yeah my wife said the same thing...... sounds like you may have not disabled the voodoo lagfix before the flash.
you will probably need to flash back to stock. I am not sure what is stock on this phone I am going to assume it is the same Vibrant.
If you can get into recovery and you did have voodoo installed disable it. If not you can disable it on your phone and copy the folder and then load it into the internal sd card messed up phone and replace the old folder.
Then you may need to use Eugenes froyo that does not brick as a intermediary flash. if you can Odin that (use Odin 1.7) then when it you flash it do not check the repartition box. When it is beginning to reboot, do not let it fully reboot, pull the battery. Then Redo the Odin as described below:
Open Odin.exe and plug a usb cable to your computer that will connect to your phone (do not plug it in to the phone yet, just the computer)
Hold down both volume buttons at the same time and while holding them down plug the usb into your phone. You should see a COM message show up in Odin.
Leave all check boxes the way they are. Check the repartition box.
Click the PIT button and select the 512.pit file
Click the PDA button and select T959JFD.tar and then click Start
When it is done you will be back at stock. Then Root the phone and go from there.
still getting the loop! this phone is jacked up. I can enter download without pressing the power button, cause it turns on and off itself
My phone just keeps flashing the opening Samsung galaxy s gt-i9000
Oh good I don't know the pit or .tar files sorry

take the battery out, wait 30 seconds, plug the usb cable in, and then hold both the volume buttons and slide the battery in. Presto! Download mode.
This has saved me numerous times lol. Then just flash JDF like oka said
i dont have problem entering download mode. When I flash with odin I get a pass on it. but when the phone reboots it stays on the opening screen go on and off
i download the heimdall suite 1.1.1 and the necessary windows program to run it. when i plug my phone into download mode heimdall start button isn't accessable. am i missing something?
figured out hoew to get access to start button, dont use partition. now it gets error on recognizing the device. Im so frustrated right now I need a smoke!!!!!!!

Depends on what you smoke........
You may need the pit 513 file instead of the pit 512 file, these mapping files are a bit different and it may be a cause. Hard to know without seeing the phone
Also you could do a full wipe if you can get into recovery, wipe cache, phone reset and dalvik wipe (in advanced) then try That may work better for you.
It is recoverable.......... and also the best way to get your wife to calm down......... a romantic restaurant with candle light........ you go on Tuesday and she goes on Thursday........
Hope you get it fixed..........
thanks for the support but no luck I tried 513 pit nothing my phone still wont boot up I still get the opening screen then it shuts off and starts again.
im really having a bad day now i tried flashing the stock rom 2.2 with odin now the phone wont even power on! i guess its really a brick. i bought myself a paper weight

[Q] HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll happily admit that I'm a noob and I never should have done this. After having a couple of android fanatics puffing their chest out about how easy it was to toss Froyo on a phone, I tried it and now I'm stuck.
I have a Samsung Fascinate on Verizon's network. I follow the instructions I found and now I'm stuck staring at some boot up and recover screen. What I can't do is select any of the options give to me.
I'm starting at the following screen:
Android System Recovery <3e> after using Odin3 v1.00
All:
I used Odin3 v100 to load Android 2.2 ROM
I followed the following steps
i9000XXJP2 Instructions
1. Remove the battery from your phone
2. Remove the SIM Card and MicroSD Card from your phone
(However, since it's a verizon phone, I had no sim card and I left my micro SD card in place)
3. Place the battery back on the phone
4. Hold down the HOME button, Volume Down button, and Power On button
5. You should now see a Download screen
6. Open Odin 3 v1.0
7. Click on the button “PIT” and load the “s1_odin_20100512.pit” file
8. Click on the button “PDA” and load the “I9000XXJP2-REV03-PDA-CL464213.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
9. Click on the button “Phone” and load the “MODEM_I9000XXJP2.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
10. Click on the button “CSC” and load the “GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJP2.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
11. Click the checkbox next to: “Re-Partition”
12. Your settings should now look like Figure #2
13. Plug your phone into your computer with USB Debugging on
14. Look at the gallery below to see if everything is going right
15. Once done, your phone will boot up
And now the phone Rebooted and I get the following message “update media, plase waite E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (invaild argument) E: copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD: you storage not prepared yet. plase use UI menu for format and reboot actions. copy default media contenr failed.”
I can get my phone to the option above and I can still get to download mode
It seems to me that I need to reformat the internal SD Card but I cannot select any of the options in the Android System Recovery <3e>
The options I have are
Enter: OK Key, Select : Vol UP /Vol Down
Reboot system now
Applysdcard:update.zip
Wipe date/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Format internal sd-card
The Volume rocket works to move between the above options but I can't use the “OK” key nor any other to select an action
Someone please please help me! Even if I can just reset it to where I was before, I honestly don't think I'm far along enough that I can't undo what I did, I just don't know how ...
I really really need a hand
The biggest problem of what you wrote, is you followed the instructions of the wrong phone.
The verizon fascinate is the i500 not i9000. The verizon fascinate doesnt use the phone button on odin.
Odin this file for 2.2: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...roms-w-root-new-clockwork-updated-2-11-a.html
Get the Full Stock Froyo Leak+root+Froyo Clockworkmod file, and once it successfully instals, you can instal different roms.
Would you be able to shoot me a private message with instructions a little more detailed? At this point, I'm absolutely paranoid about being in WAY over my head
You can use this thread to get back to rooted 2.2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977493
+1 to the post above me. You will more than likely need to use heimdall. (the hardest part is installing the drivers. Once you figure out how to do that it's similar to Odin)
At this point, you are extremely lucky to still have a course of action. Rarely does flashing that many files from another device actually leave you with an easily recoverable phone.
Good luck!
Since you used pda, you might still be safe, but I doubt you will be able to recover this. You are probably out of luck after this accident.
Oh dear.... you definitely did flash firmware for the wrong phone on to your phone.
Since you can still get into download mode you *might* have a shot. Definitely try that thread linked a few posts back. Flashing the firmware for the i9000 to a i500 might have done something screwy to your phone's memory partitions. The thread here has a .pit file which should repartition your phone's memory.
Please let us know if you do bring your phone back from the dead. Best of luck.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy Note i717 HELP!!

So I will tell you my story, it all started like this.
The other day I wanted to trade my iPhone 4s for a Galaxy note, So i met up with this guy from craigslist, He had the device, I checked it out, It looked fine and workeed fine, so I took the trade. I saw that he had some personal backgrounds, profiles, etc on the phone do I decided to do a factory reset. I went to settings and followed through with the factory reset. The phone was on the samsung flashing logo, and the battery fell out, I put it back in and powered back on and went straight to the samsung logo, so I assumed it would just pick up from where it left off. I waited about an hour to an hour and a half and it was still on the samsung logo, so I called samsung customer service. I had to do a Hard factory reset, (Hold the 2 volume buttons, and the power button, then let go of the power button) it brought me to some screen that it wasnt suppose to, the Screen was "Team Win Recovery Project v.2.2.1.1" Then it gave me all these on screen buttons to push " Install, Wipe, Backup, Restore, Mount, Settings, Advanced, Reboot" So I clicked install, but there is nothing on the device to install, I have no OS to install, I was just screwing around with it, I click "reboot" and then "System" then it says "No OS installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?" so I just swipe to reboot, and the phone just gets stuck again and in ittle print at the bottom of the phone it says " E: System is not installed - preventing reboot" so it just stayed there for a while. So then I did some reasearch and I Held the "Volume down button and power button" I that brought me to some thing that was like " WARNING Custom OS can damage the phone or something like that" then it said "Volume Up to continue" or "Volume Down to Cancel (restart phone) so I clicked volume down, and It got stuck at the blinking samsung logo again,I held the same buttons again and Instead of clicking volume down, I clicked the volume up this time, It got stuck on some Android screen, with the big Green android guy. I just took the battery out, now Im back at a black screen. So Now I have this useless paper weight, no cell phone, and I dont have the guys number that sold me the phone.
(PLEASE HELP)
If anyone has some idea of for me what to do, Please post, anything Im desperate!!!
XDA is no longer worth my time.

Well, if I were you I would install the stock (although rooted) ICS ROM as found here
If you have a microsd card and laptop/home computer I would download a ROM onto the microsd then reinstall it on your NOTE then you can reboot into the "Team Win Recovery" thing as you did before and install according to the instructions found in the thread below.
1) Download the pure ROM as found here in the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766933
2) move the zip file to your microsd and then insert to your NOTE (you have to remove the battery to do so).
3) As mentioned, do what you did before to get to the "Team Win Recovery".
4) Follow the instructions for the ROM to install...basically Wipe Data then Factory Reset and then INSTALL the ROM. You will have to look for it on your external card.

THANKS SO MUCH, But I need to find away to get the Micro Sd Card into my Mac, and then how to transfer the data
your gonna need to get a card reader to put that micro sd card.
get one of those usb card reader. then connect to your mac.
mac should recognize that with no problem.
So here is what I have done so far, I downloaded the Zip file "SGH-I717-UCLF6PS.zip" to my mac, From there I connected my Galaxy Note to My iMac via USB cable, I kept the micro sd inside the phone. The mac recgonized the Galaxy Note, so I dragged and dropped the file into the folder of the Note, and let in download, Then I open Team Win Recovery Project, hit install, then located the "SGH-I717-UCLF6PS.zip" file, clicked on it, then "Swiped to confirm flash" I did that then I get an error "Unable to open zip file"
Everything seems to go wrong :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
i have had that happen when my download was corrupt or didnt finish

I have a mac also and purchased a cheap card reader that plugs into my usb port.
BUT, if your mac recognized your Note as a device then that should work.
Just got to redownload the zip file and "eject" it after you transfered to the note's microsd.
You actually dont need a card reader or anything. If you plug your phone into your PC and then boot into recovery holding the 2 volume buttons. then choose mounts and storage (i believe thats the catagory, im copying music to my phone so i dont want to reboot right now) in there you want to mount the USB storage, your computer will download the drivers and then ask you if you want to view the files in it. Just copy over a ROM to your SD card or internal storage and install it and your good to go.

[Q] Forced Factory Reset, PLZ help me reroot BNTV-250A

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.......this is my first post but I have spent ALOT of time reading on here and i dont know where to go from here....I bought my nook Tablet from a friend and it came stock with 4.4.2. KIt Kat and somehow my son got my SD card that had my recovery and back ups on it and well to make a long story short, I went through a few endless boot loops, ROMS, sleepless nights on XDA and just about anything you can imagine untill it hit its 8th consecutive "loop" and here we are......biggest problem is though that I cant get into admin account on my computer sooooo....short of having to find a friends house to drag my kids off to to fix "Mommies toy" I really need some help if at all possible. My computer doesn't read this "new" nook because it was an Android the other day and I know what it feels like.....it was pretty hard having to wake up to a TOTALLY STOCK Nook from a 4.4 with TWRP and Paranoid Android.
Ps....if nothing else if anyone can point me in a real direction to reset my admin password on a HP running Windows 7 that would be great also, I would factory reset it but the settings require the password....its pretty crazy....Thank you in advance
Noob Mom :fingers-crossed
Does your SD card contain the CWM recovery and ROM backup and is still intact?
If so then you should be able to boot off the SD card into recovery (by inserting a powered USB into the NT while it's in power-off state) and and restore from back up.

Please forgive me but tell me exactly where and what I need to look for to make sure, I have a wifi file explorer opened up on my nook because I cant re-install the drivers on my Win7 pc because of the stupid ADMIN password. So can i just add\delete\move....whatever files necessary around to make it work or am i going to have to be able to connect it to my pc?? Also, when you say for me to just restore from back up, how would i do that because i cant seem to be able to boot into anything except Factory "N".
The process for restoring from SD card using SD-based CWM recovery is as follows:
Put the SD card into the NT, and boot from its power off by inserting a powered USB cable. Press and hold the N button as soon as CyanoBoot comes up to get the boot menu to display. Use volume up/down buttons to navigate, N button to select, and Power button to return to a parent menu.
Select "SDC Recovery" to load CWM recovery.
Select "Backup and restore".
Select "Restore from SD card".
...
Select "Reboot".

Gosh...I only wish it was that easy....I cant get it to the CyanoBoot menu anymore.....I guess the factory reset wiped it all off....and i have back ups and recoveries all over the place Im just not sure if everything is where it needs to be or if I just need to try and start over....if so, where should I start because most of the forums I have found are older and the links dont work.....
