Hello, is it possible to unlock my bootloader without using the htc dev method? This because i don't want to lose my warranty! I know that after unlocking my bootloader i will need a different bootloader to root my device, this is no problem for me.so is there a possibility to unlock my bootloader without htcdev.com? My hboot and type of device can be found at the title of this thread.kind regards, a proud htc evo 3d owner( i have the device for two weeks now)!
I had the same problem. EVO 3D GSM + HBoot 1.49.0018
The Revolutionary method doesn't work and as far as I'm aware, the only way to unlock your bootloader is via the HTC Method. I have done this and rooted my device. I am now going to attempt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Sorry I can't be of more help. Extremely new to this!
thank you
Thank you for your reply! You have also vodafone, i think? Because of the hboot and the link you send me.thanks vodafone, for making it hard to root my device! I really won't use the htc method because i want to keep my warranty!
My phone is unbranded.
I was a little uncertain as to whether to root on the HTC Method but I just took the plunge. For me the ability to root surpassed the usefulness of the warranty.
Veevoh, how did you root your phone? I have an unbranded HTC EVO 3D GSM HBOOT 1.49.0018 with unlocked bootloader via HTC Method, but i just can't find a way to root. Did you downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.0007?

If your already unlocked via htc method then just flash a recovery, make a nandroid, and then flash a Rom. Take a look at the gsm development thread and spend a few hours reading to give you a better understanding of what the risk's and benefits are of rooting. Also as I previously mentioned if your unlocked and s-off and your on a stock Rom after you flash your recovery then just to gain root you can flash the Su.zip and then hit up the market and download busybox and you will have root on your stock Rom. I'd highly recommend making a nandroid backup as soon as you get your recovery on your device. Then make a copy of it and keep it on your pc just so you always have a stock backup to revert to and a copy of it.

No need for HTC unlock you.can downgrade you Rom with the old Rom version that comes with old hboot then use revaluation to s-off. I will post link to guide I used later.

cool, looks like i got lucky with my asda phone.
just for reference? , to get back to how the phone came , i just run the fastboot s-on command and then run the latest firmware update ruu and that should return me to hboot 1.49.0018 s-on locked?

Flash the stock RUU then go into bootloader and enter command fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 and you will be s-on again.
Note i have not tested the above command as dont want to start all over again but it should work.
Best way for me was
1. Root using htcsupertool
2. Then run ruu then root again
3. This turns your bootloader to .007
4. Then use I/O rev to s-off and install clockwork
5. Install your Rom
6. If you want to back to stock
7. Re run ruu takes you back to stock.
8. Then take the OTA updates takes you back to .018
7. Check forum how to s-on
This method prevents the RELOCKED bootloader just says locked
Hope this helps

Luckily i got the same hboot as yours from Asda too! Gonna have a go at this now to get s-off.
I just flashed a ruu and it downgrade my 3vo from .018 to .007. So I think you don't need to root the phone before.

Nah you dont. After downgrading to .007 i just used revolutionary to gain s-off and flash the recovery. After that you can flash a superuser zip and you'll have root.
So glad i did this, feels good

Frist you will need to downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.1107 and then S-OFF your phone.. just rooting it does not help.!!
Just follow this to downgrade :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22494488&postcount=1
and this for S-off:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17233858&postcount=1
(SCROLL DOWN until you see : S-OFF & ROOT)
Keep in mind that in order to do downgrade you need to relock your phone and when its time to S-OFF it you need to unlock it again ! good luck!
Or if you want to flash Rom S-ON, I think you I'll manually have to flash boot.img using fastboot and then everything should be fine, according to me !

Hi
I did not meant that my phone will stuck on htc logo when flash a new rom. I couldn't install the ics rom in the first place. When i click install zip from the sd card in the recovery. Its shows updating package then, it shows some error on the file.
I thought it was the file at first but i downloaded back and the same error appeared.
I m running custom rom shooter beats right now and thats the only rom that works for me right now.
I hope u can help me... Thanks for ur reply.

you better use 4ext recovery instead of clockworkmod in the tutorial
Hi,
to S-OFF, make sure you have a compatible HBoot version.
You can find the compatible Hboot versions on the below website.
http: // revolutionary. io /
I dont see any deference of s-OFF . Only thing hard is you need to manually flash images to the phone other than automatic flashing. My phone is still s-off
For root your phone use it :
RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed.exe
After go to Revolutionary. Your phone is root.

you ca also use these links: flashing custom rom with s-on

and to downgrade to get s-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246
and as your cid is already 001... I think you can skip this step in #6. ......\\Change CId
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
I used these two links when i still dont know anything about rooting...very nervous of bricking my phone... but very exiting...quite an experience... and now I have a perm rooted phone with the great MWAKIOUS 3d rom in it... makes me feel to have a very amazing evo3d.

If you want to take the OTA, relock the device first.
Or do what everyone else does, flash custom recovery, upgrade firmware (and hboot if needed) and flash a new rom.
