No Google Voice Notification - Help? - HTC Droid DNA

I've had this phone since day 1 and Google Voice has never worked properly. Yes, callers do reach GV. GV emails me to inform me that I have a new voice-mail. But I don't get the actual Google Voice notification in my status bar. Everything in my settings seems to be set up properly. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I dont think GV has a notification. It all gets sent to your gmail account.

I get notification emails and through Google voice. I have had mine since day 1, and haven't had any problems with Google voice. Here are a few screenshots

Google voice sms problems

So I haven't been receiving text messages since yesterday I update prl and profile and rebooted but it didn't fix it. So i called and Sprint claims its because of Google voice. They removed GV from my account and now I'm getting texts. So I'm wondering if there's any other Google voice users here having the same problems and if so does Google know of the issue?

Sounds like you:
a) don't have the Google Voice app installed on your phone, and
b) didn't have your Google Voice account set to forward texts to your phone
In that scenario, you wouldn't receive any texts whatsoever. Normally w/ Google Voice, they'll be sent to the app at minimum, and also to your phone as a normal SMS if you've selected that option as in 'b' above.

I had both of those and app and forward to phone iv had GV since the Sprint merger and this is the first time iv had problems with it. Sprint says its a problem on Google's end and they have had a few calls today about it. I was just wondering if it has affected any of you guys? Also thanks for the suggestions.

Exactly, just make sure when installing google voice, you have "text messages" checked & you can toggle off "Inbox notifications".

It's a gingerbread bug. Voice mail notification won't work. Other option is to use Google voice

I agree, I was having voice mail issues with my Thunderbolt pre-root, I was getting double notifications Visual VM and standard and tried everything but could not turn it off.
I finally just moved to Google Voice. Now not only do I get transcribed voicemails, I also save 2.99/month on Verizons VVM. Oh yeah you can check your VM's on the web like Vonage too.

It won't on gingerbread unless you have Google voicemail

It's a bug in the leak. Gvoice, or just check it if you miss a call. PITA, but I can't go back to froyo, like GB too much.
courtesy of my rooted bolt
just set up google voice - it is truly nice to have visual VM, plus the autovoice is soo much more pleasant.
It always annoyed me that in verizon's VM (well all the other carriers too) there are so many instructions after your greeting. I mean, everyone knows what to do and the 15 seconds or so of instructions puts you at something like 55 seconds into the call, so any message longer than 5 seconds puts you over the 1 minute mark. I'm convinced that vzw chooses to not let us bypass the instructions by default for this reason.
With GVoice, it's just a beep. That's a nice feature.

+1 Google voice
It has so many features that att voicemail can't do. It will transcribe your message so you can read it, it can automatically send that transcription to you via text or email. You can choose the order of playback of your messages, and you can rewind or fast forward them.

+2 for google voice. The transcription isn't perfect, but any errors are usually really easy to figure out.
I've had a google voice number since it wasn't even google voice (grandcentral), I've played with it off and on over the years but never used it. They've added a few features!
Installed the app on the my android for the first time yesterday and yea i'll +3 that for the visual voicemail.
Thanks everyone!
love my google voice once you get it set up.. just sit back and enjoy
+1 for Google voice, I tried Youmail and it seemed like there was always a delay in notification.
i used to have Youmail back in my BB days. But +10000 for google voice. Its much better, IMO.
I use the Phonefusion app. It's free and also does transcription. Seems to work fine, although the app is ugly as sin. I have Google Voice as well, but I don't use it as my main voice mail.
The AT&T Messages app will do VVM with your native mail and give you some other Google voice type functions. I don't like the delay for google voice vmail to pick up if you don't reject the call.

[Q] google voice and touchwiz dialer integration

Does anyone know how to get google voice voicemails to show up in the touchwiz dialer(I have the setting checked in GV)? Evidently, they don't play well together. Is there a work around?
bump
As long as I can remember google voice notifications only appear in the pulldown notification area as notifications from google voice as an app. I am not aware of any dialer integration other than for when making calls the option to run the call through google voice.
Prior to using google voice there would be a message waiting indicator that would only clear once you dialed your vm and listened to your new messages, this is somthing that to my understanding is only able to be controlled by your carrier not an app.
Hope this helps!

I am looking for the same functionality. For those that may not know exactly what is stated in OP, Google voice has an option for voice mails to appear under the call log with the option to playback workout using GV. It works under AOSP roms. This functionality would be great on stock touchwiz, bit its not a deal breaker for me. Interested if anyone has found a way.
