Can I don't do anything after rooted - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hi,
I have a question. After I rooted my T769 20F, can I just leave it without install anything? I just want the internal memory could be bigger with the 16GB micro SD card put on. Please advise.
Thanks.

Yeah. but it doesn't release much data being you can only move certain downloaded apps. Believe me, I've tried.

[Q] Best Rom/ Ram

Hello Devs,
I am just new here. I have the YP-G70CWY-XXA GB version, it is on 2.3.5 and I want to update it to 2.3.6. My question is, What is the best version to install via Odin and will it work without updating the Kernel?
Another question is, is it possible to Ram swap with class 4 mSD on our units?
Last is, is it possible to unroot?
Thank you very much.
Just check out any rom that is compatible with your device (US/INTL). It all comes down to your personal decision.
What do you mean by ram swap? A micro sd is just extra storage.
As for unrooting, you have to see according to the rom you'll flash.

Sorry if I am mistaken. I am really new to Android and wants to learn it.
I just want to root it and change some scripts if possible and then unroot it. But if the tings that I am looking for are in one of the roms, might as well use that rom. Any Stock kernel around. I hold 2 versions of SGP. one with Button and the other has none. have soft B the none and now looking for solutions. It may just need a kernel reflashing.
Anyway, thank you for the reply and more power to the dev people like you.
Cheers!

why do you care wether it's rooted or not? it makes no real difference, other than being able to access the root of your sgp...

I do care. I respect the hard work of dev techies. Root I need to insert series of scripts for my own use. Unfortunately, I found the scripts in pastebin. This unit will serve me as a remote for a server. comprende?

Just stock is enough. I will use it to control and monitor AIX servers coupled with AS based systems. Due to my job, I wont take the risk staying rooted. besides, I just want it stock/ I got ADB running on one AIX system to dev. so, I have my reasons and you have yours I am sure. It is just a job for me.

Yes, it is possible to swap card spaces. I have a 64gb that I want to try it with, but first I have to figure out how to root and rom my Player 5.
OK you want to swap your micro sd card with another. Of course it's possible. It's just external storage. I never tried with a 64gig card but in the accessories forum other members said it works for them.

he wants to use his external sd as ram not storage, which as far as i'm concerned, you cannot do
Thank you very much to all of the dev and those who helped.
For now, I did root it and inserted the scripts I need and it is working like a charm. However, Atrix 2 has a script to switch the SD card from internal to external. Yes, I woulds like to do so. Is it possible to use class 6-10 card 64Gb? Better yet, if we can use part of the 64GB as an ADDED feature to increase the ram like a unix or linux style, will it be possible? If we could run the ram using entirely the class 10 SDcard, it would be the best. The unit will be lightning fast. Will have no lag on those who play heavy games.
It is just a question though.
By the way, the Ureadahead script for the SDcard, can it be set higher than 512 up to 1024 or 2048? or it depends on the latency of the processor and the ram capacity ?
Dev Teams,
Might see something interesting here for SGP4 & 5.

[Q] ROM or kernel, really cleaned the previous version?

I'm a little confused with the updates of ROM's and kernel's.
I'm trying alternatives to CM10, both full ROM or kernel. In almost all the tests I have done, when I finally go back to the original CM10 and CM10 kernel, I always drag some feature of the kernel or the ROM, I just try.
Does this mean that when you install a kernel or ROM, with its wipe data, etc ... there remains something of the older version?
There is a cleaner way of install?
I have readed many threads, but I have found many ways to do it. :silly:
Nobody have a opinion about this?
And if so... it s probably few MB of some left data, don t know for sure.

I think you missed my point. I do not mind a little MB deal more. The bad thing is that sometimes when you install a new ROM, there are some errors from the previous ROM. As if left 'remains' of it.
A 1TB microSD card won't solve the problem.

[Q] Preferred Root Method?

Been reading various threads and wondering if there is a preferred method for rooting S4. If so, is it based on ability the unroot it later? I am a noob to phone rooting...having only (but successfully) rooted my Nook Tablet a long time ago. I want to make sure I choose the "best practice" method to minimize my risk of borking it. I am on verizon and have
SCH-1545
Build: JDQ39.1545VRUAME7
As for the specifics, is it assumed once I format the SD card to exfat that it runs from and remains in the phone itself or can it be repurposed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
This is for root. With ME7 you can not use a custom recovery just as a FYI. But safestrap recovery works with ME7. You can find that also in the android Dev section.

Each firmware version has its own method, and theres only 1 for each. Since your on me7 you have to use the .pwn method and once your rooted you can reformat your card/delete the files that were used.

I have also noticed a number of people wanting to go back to stock. Is this because root is unstable or has issues? Is there a pretty foolproof method for going back (my phone is only 3 months into my renewed VZ contract so unlike my Nook, I may need support at some point)

Its absolutely stable. Most realize its not for them or they return their phones. Odin in my.opinion is the easiest way to remove root.

That root method is for Verizon S4 on ME7 firmware. If that is not you then I would not try it myself.
Could qualify as the dumb question of the day, but I have Build: JDQ39.1545VRUAME7...is this considered ME7 or are there different flavors?

Only one ME7 for Verizon you are good.
Given that this was profiled as a "cover story" on the XDA home page is this the latest and greatest and is it different than

Safestrap

Hello,
I hope I am not reposting anything, but I can't seem to find this information. How exactly do you get safe strap and how do you boot into it?
I see there is a list of roms that work with safestrap, but I can't see a how-to.
Thanks!

Leave it alone, as hashcode suggests. I believe some have wiped and run a rom on the stock slot. If you go that route and run into problems, DONT go to hashcode asking for help, as he advises against it.
Thank you.
I was running out of space so I guess I need to get an SD Card.

+1 Running HD RLS15 is fine in Stock Slot. I've been doing this setup for months without any issues. In fact your available memory will be partitioned as though you were on VZW Stock OS.

Need help rooting this tablet

Posted this on another forum but I figured here would be a better place to ask.
So I just recently got a Proscan 7100g tablet (I won it for free I know its bad dont judge me) and I have no idea how to root it. Ive tried all the one click programs but none of them support this device (not surprised).
As we all know Android 4.4 is hell and I want to be able to put apps on my sd card because 4 gb is not nearly enough space.
If anybody could help I would be very grateful.
Also I already have the dev mode enabled so you dont need to go through that part.
