Hi! I am running OMJ's 1.7 ROM on my HTC One. The only thing missing from this ROM is the voice dialer from Cyanogenmod, which, for me, is the best voice dialer on Android. I've extracted the .APK from a CWM backup, but when I try to install it using a file manager I get the message "There was a problem parsing the package" Does anyone know of a way that I can get this to install? Thanks.

Did you check install from unknown sources in settings?
May be the file is just corrupted?

The file might not be corrupted its just not compatible with the present android version.
Please make a backup of your current ROM and try the following.
try pushing the apk to system/app via root explorer and then set permission rw-r--r-- and restart your phone. see if the icon appears in app drawer.

Hello Try placing the .apk directly in to the "System/apps/" file in the internal storage. You can do that by using "root" file managers such as Root Explorer. Thank you for consulting the forums, and please click the "Thanks" button if I helped

Hi guys...
I have some problem on my Vibrant of Android Market App not connecting (due to some unknown reason with my Google account). So, I decided to download and install Clockwork ROM Manager manually. I did so successfully. Now, I cannot figure out how to install Clockwork Recovery? The official site just gives me a .zip file. I don't know what to do with this .zip file. And I cannot download it from within CW ROM Manager, it gives some internet error...
If someone can guide me step by step, it would be awesome...
Thanks a lot in advance...

extract the contents of the .zip to anywhere on your sd card. then use a file manager of your choice (astro, linda) to locate the .apk and install it to your phone. however, keep in mind YOU ALSO NEED TO HAVE THE PREMIUM LICENSE APK INSTALLED IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK. once ROM manager is up and running on your phone, just flash Clockwork through that.
edit: this is objective advice to help out, but please know that I do not support outside downloading of paid apps. and you might want to be careful because Clockwork is huge on this forum, and there are A LOT of supporters. you should be asking how to fix your market problem, not how to install ROM Manager for free. just my thoughts, good luck
Thanks for the reply...
I have installed ROM Manager through the apk file that I downloaded. But now how do I flash Recovery? The zip file is supposed to be for Recovery, but how do I do it?
Do I need to go into Recovery Mode and then click on the "Re-install Packages" thingy??? If yes, do I need to rename the zip file?
Your help will be greatly appreciated...

you need to flash the recovery through ROM manager....if thats not working its probably because you dont have the premium license for ROM manager downloaded. its used to protect against piracy...........why arent you trying to figure out how to fix your market instead
I did post a thread here but I didnt get much help...
I am not able to log into my Google account or any other Google based service (including Gmail and Google Maps). ROM Manager is also giving some internet error...
I am connected to WiFi and can use internet on my browser. Can do everything in the browser, including logging into Google...
So, if you can provide some help on this issue, that would even be nicer...

There are a few place where its mentioned to remove this folder: /data/data/com.android.providers.settings
Now how can I reach this folder? How can I access the terminal? If there is a separate app for that, which one is a good one and from where can I get it? (Remember I cannot access Android Market...)
Mannnnnnnnnn.......
I am learning a lot of new things since I bought my Vibrant...
So I was finally able to add my Google Account to my Vibrant... The Android Market and other Apps using Google are still not opening on Wifi, its very strange... I can use internet on my browser but the apps are still not able to use Wifi...
I hope I can figure this out as well, with your help...
I just don't like the minicm7 pro messaging app .... It is a GREAT ROM though
I don't like it because when I tap "To", it doesn't let me to choose recipient from my contact book but instead I need to type the recipient number myself and it will give some suggestion.
Is there anyway I can do this? Or I just stuck to it forever? I don't want to use messaging app from market though....
And If I can use 2.1 stock messaging app please give me the link for it because I don't have it, Thanks.
yes you can
from the STOCK ROM extract the Mms.apk file
and then use app installer to install Mms.apk (from stock) on your custom ROM
and it should install
this is what i did on my mini cm7 pro messaging app, i took the Mms.apk from Sonystyle and installed it on my mini cm7 pro v21
the Mms.apk can be found in system/app/Mms.apk

But when I try to install it using root explorer after moving it into system/app and deleted the original minicm7 mms.apk, it gives error - "Application not installed".
Any ideas why?
Edit: Right now i can't even reinstall the original minicm7 pro mms.apk.... it keep saying "Application not installed".

to to install it from sdcard instead of inside system files, have Read Write enabled
if that doesnt work then you may need to sign the .apk file (normally you sign it if you edited the .apk)

try this Mms.apk I have edited this Icon ok but should still work
1st Backup Mms.apk from /system/app/Mms.apk to sdcard
Then delete Mms.apk from /system/app (using file manager e.g root explorer
then from sdcard (using app installer or root explorer) Install mms_signed.apk
Emm... Thanks
But isn't that the original MiniCm7 pro mms apk? I want to use the 2.1 stock messaging app...
Is there any way you can make this one work on MiniCm7 pro? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9296291&postcount=4
Long story short, i have had the Droid razr for about a month and as soon I got the device, I flashed over the Black Widow ICS rom. Everything worked fine and smoothly but then a noticed a problem and hopefully you guys can help me.
There are updates for various Google Apps (Gapps) that i installed when flashing over the ROM. If I look at my apps within the Google Market as a whole, under the Installed tab, nothing needs updating. But for instance, if i click on Gmail, theres a update for it.
So first i was like cool, Ill try to download it. Downloads fine when it tries to Update, it says " Error - Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again" I understand what the error code means so I think to myself, "ok ill just delete the app and download using the Market."
Go to Manage Apps, and all i can do is Disable the so-called app but i cant uninstall it. So i thought, "ok ill try to uninstall it through the Google Market. Nope, the only two options are UPDATE and OPEN.
So i need you help. Should i download a newer version of GAPPS or is there a easier way to uninstall so i can just re-download it again.
Thanks EHB
Use a root browser (like es file explorer) make sure the /system is accessible and root enabled.
Go to /system/apps and delete the .apk for it
Same thing happened to me with the Arctic rom, maps wouldn't update, so i just got maps from the market after deleting it

Use Root Explorer as then 2 apps above is not powerful enough to delete the system file. Be sure you are on R/W mode, you can check on the upper right part of Root Explorer. That should do the trick.
You said you flashed a new Rom, which means you know how to use recovery. From the text it shows when you install a GApps package, it deletes the old files before adding the new ones. Now, I haven't actually looked at the install code but I wouldn't imagine Cyanogen or whomever the builder of that package is, would lie about something that thousands of people use?
Anyways, just try flashing a new GApps package. A few of the ones I have flashed have had Gmail included while others have not.

If they are system apps, you can't just install them.
Needs root.
Grab a root browser, find the file u want to install.
Move or copy it and paste it in system/app
Then "set the permissions" and reboot.
Not all apps work, they might be device specific!

Hi,
I want to install an a New keyboard for my Cellphone, but the problem is that the name of the Keyboard is "Android Keyboard" and when i try to install the APK it says "An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"....
Now I downloaded VirtualStudio Ten and decompiled, changed the name of the Keyboard in (Strings.xml) and recompiled it, after that signed and zipaligned it(which the Virtual Studio Program did itself while recompiling the Apk) , but even then i am getting the same error? i can see that the program is now shown with a different name which i edited myself in strings.xml, but still no go,exactly same error! Am i doing something wrong here?
The error probably persist because the keyboard which you're trying to install already exists on your phone.
i tried to install something form xda because i wanted the latest version of the app. But i couldn't install it.. turns out that my installed version was the latest version so i basically was trying to replace the exact same app with this app.. and it didn't work.
Hope i made it alteast abit more clear fro you in this matter

Nah, keyboard wont cause any kind of FC.. atleast it hasn't with me..
Lol renaming an app in the strings.xml file won't effect the package name, if you know a little java, you will understand what a package means, just search on how to do it and be warned its not that easy as renaming the app name in the strings.xml file.
