[Q] Need product code for us/english 920 rom - Nokia Lumia 920

Just bought a Nokia 920 black that had a Vietnam rom. Was unable to get 4G on AT&T's network. I used a Finland rom, but still no 4G. Anyone have any idea what the proper product code for the Nokia 920 black that will enable 4G on AT&T's network in North America? Thanks for any replies.

check USA ROM's not EU...
try with Navifirm+ v2.3 but you must give donation to get access to firmwares
or try this one

Thanks, but I've looked thru the product codes. FYI, AT&T US developer code is not listed, along with any US north America codes, that I can figure out. Deciphering the descriptions to get the right one is almost impossible, for example: VAR IMEA-MEA3 EG LY CV BLACK. I know it's black, but that's about it. I have a funny feeling that I'm not the only one having this issue, which is why I asked for the "product code" for a us/English 920 rom.
That said, I was able to look at the picture you posted and got the product code for AT&T US developer code and am downloading it now. Before burning it, I would like to find the product code for the Black 920 US developer code (Non AT&T, unbranded), if there's one out there.
Is there a way to see the full rom list on Nokia's server, without having to put the product code in? Just seems that there should be an easier way to see their available roms.
On another note, anyone know how to change the mobile operator listed under Setting/extras+info? My AT&T LQ Quantum had a MFG program that would let you change all kinds of stuff.
Again, Thanks for any help.

Got it. It only lets you put in one product code at a time. Please explain how you can use navifirm to see a complete list of the product codes available. Going thru the interface, I'm not seeing how that is possible.

Nice pic! Where do you "search by product"? I have only one box at the top and it only accepts one product code at a time. Do I need to pay to get this "search by product" feature? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! is there a hidden button?

The box is ghosted and unable to click to type in it. See the attached jpeg. I've tried clicking on it to no avail.

Full options is available only if you pay donations. After that you get registration details for unlocking navifirm. I hoped searching working without paying but seems not.

Sorry, I was only looking under rm-821. At the time I didn't know that rm-820 was America and rm-821 was the international version.

Still no 4g with AT&T developer rom on rm-821
Quick update on my Nokia Lumia 920, (model rm-821).
I updated my wife to the Nokia Lumia 920 on AT&T's network here in the NE USA thru their upgrade. Great 4g speed, great phone. Due to contract issues (I go thru phones like water.), I went and bought a Black International, factory unlocked Nokia Lumia 920. The 920 had a Vietnam rom, and would not connect at 4g, only 3g. In the settings, there wasn't even an option for 4g, only 2g & 3g.
Going thru the forums, I saw people were reporting using US/Canadian roms to enable 4g on International 920's (model rm-821).
Thanks to the great help from people here on the forum, I downloaded the AT&T Developers rom (For America's 920's the model is rm-820, something that I was not aware of at first.) and was able to burn it to my 920.
After completing the rom burn and setting the 920 up, I called AT&T and had them re-provision the phone for 4g. This is where AT&T pushes configuration data to the phone for network and features, etc...
The phone works great, clean fast and without all the AT&T crap that was on my wife's 920. The problem? Still no 4g. Still stuck at 3g/H+, about 2/3 of the speed that my wife gets on her 920. Now I had read that using the us roms would enable the 4g mode, but after two days now the phone is still in 3g/H+. Surprisingly, the settings now show a 4g option in networking, which I've selected, but still no 4g.
So the bottom line: Do I need to return the phone and make sure that I get a US/Canadian (model rm-820) unlocked to get 4g?
I never had this problem with other unlocked international phones on 3g. Is this strictly a 4g standards issue between the international and domestic model?
Anyone have any knowledge about this, or ideas/observations?

You won't get 4g/ LTE with rm-821 (this is europe/international) on AT&T due difference bands (radio channels) LTE used than the rm-820 (USA/canada). Switching the ROMs doesn't change supported band .I'm not sure if rm-821 Developers version is pentaband, so my advise is return the phone and be sure you're getting RM-820.
Look for 920_RM-820-821-822_SM_L3&4_v.2.0.pdf so you can see the difference between RM-820/821/822

[Q] Those with Developer Lumia 920... Need some help!

So I bought a Dev Lumia 920 used off eBay since I'm using T-Mobile and need the 1700mhz band.
I turned it on today for the first time (again, the phone is used so this is the first time for me) and briefly the AT&T logo appears...
The phone has AT&T live tiles too so now I'm starting to think I was bait-n-switched...
However the IMEI number in device settings matches the IMEI on the Dev box and the phone is missing the AT&T logo at the top left. I can prove it with pictures, lol.
So anyone know what's going on with this phone? Looks Like I have Dev hardware but AT&T software?
I've done a hard reset and the AT&T software stays... am i stuck with AT&T software?
With a T-Mobile SIM the phone makes calls, but only lets me access EDGE speeds...
Any insight is appreciated!

It looks like your best bet is to flash it!
So download Nokia Care Suite and navifirm+ 1.7
You're looking for the following:
Products: Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-821)
Releases: 1232.2110.1244.3002
Variants: RM-821_ROW_DeveloperDevice_VAR251040_Black_v2_Black (059R4H6)
Then find online how to flash it, and it SHOULD work. Not putting any promises though as I have got an EE-Locked Lumia 920

I think he probably has a North American version (RM-820) so I guess that flashing the RM-821 firmware would just brick the device (meaning that it would have to be re-flashed with a RM-820 firmware then in order to un-brick it)
But if your phone is a RM-820 I guess you should be able to flash it to the Rogers Canada firmware. And since the Rogers version of the phone does support the 1700 MHz band I think that this might unlock that band on your phone too.
But first thing I would do if I were you is to check your phone's product code (you can do that using the "Product Support Tool For Store 5.0" in the Nokia Care Suite) and then try to download & flash the firmware matching that product code first.
Only if that doesn't work I would try flashing the Rogers firmware (only if your device is a RM-820 though because flashing an RM-821 with the Rogers firmware would probably brick it too)
Thanks guys, I definitely have a Dev phone... So it is 820 or 821? I'll run Nokia Care Suite and see what it comes up with.
Update:
I can't find the original RM-820_nam_canada_246 anywhere.
I tried to flash to RM-821_ROW_DeveloperDevice_VAR251040_Black_V2_Black but that won't work because the device is RM-820.
Then I tried an RM-820_Rogers_Canada flash and it worked to get the phone started but still no T-Mobile 3G.
Damn, lol.

AT&T Lumia 920 on AWS 3G (1700/2100) IS POSSIBLE

I have seen this question asked multiple times on this forum so I thought I'd just make a thread.
The AT&T Lumia 920 has the hardware to support pentaband 3G including AWS. This means you CAN use it on T-Mobile and the other Canadian AWS carriers like WIND and any of their MVNOs. Unfortunately it is DISABLED out of the box. You will need to flash an alternate ROM to enable the AWS band!
You will need to install Nokia Care Suite and flash your phone to a different ROM. This will WIPE your phone, but it will enable AWS 3G!
Just flashing the Euro Dev ROM should get enable AWS 3G. It is for the RM-821 but you can flash RM-821 ROMs on the RM-820 without issue. I believe the only difference between the two models is what signal amplifiers and antennas they have installed as their ROMs are cross-compatible.
Check out this thread from January for posts from people who have gotten their AT&T L920 working on T-Mobile AWS. These were some of the lucky few who got their unlock code before May 9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097815&highlight=aws+3g
NOTE: ONLY FLASH RM-820 OR RM-821 ROMS! Do NOT flash ROMs for any phone other than the Lumia 920 to your Lumia 920!
I can't offer you any support and am obviously not responsible if you brick your device (though this really shouldn't happen).
I thought only the Rogers 920 was Pentaband. The AT&T version actually has a different transceiver in it which puts a physical limit on the bands it uses.
Detailed Steps are Needed

I have an unlocked AT&T Lumia 920 and would like to enable AWS 1700/2100 for WIND Mobile in Canada. I have flashed in the following order using Nokia Care Suite 5.0.0 (2013.1.3):
Flash to Pre-Portico Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.2109.1242.1002_039
OTA Update to Rogers ROM (1308)
Flash to European Developer ROM: RM821_059R4H6_1232.5957.1308.0002_027
Flash to Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.5962.1314.0000_156
Flash to Global Black Swap ROM: RM821_059Q5C6_1232.5951.1249.1004_044 (No H/H+ as claimed by others, LTE disappeared from network options)
Flash to Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.5962.1314.0000_156
No luck bringing up WIND on AWS 1700/2100, whereas my Rogers Lumia 920 is bringing it up on 3G/4G. Everything I have seen is pretty general instructions which leaves a lot of details out so this is the best I can do. Anyone else manage to do this that can provide more detailed instructions?

Where did you read this? I've never seen this and I've only read about some people managing to get AWS enabled. They're both the same model number.
In one of the many threads discussing which phone is better, the Rogers or the AT&T version. Check out this page, I was even corrected in the fact i thought they where the same till several said otherwise.

I think you might have posted an incorrect link. No one says anything like that in this thread.
And if that were the case how come multiple people have reported success enabling AWS on the ATT L920? Plus that doesn't really make sense for it to not have the hardware to do AWS 3G because it has the signal amplifier to do AWS LTE which runs on the same bands.

There's only 1 user who has explicitly stated that they (possibly) weren't just connecting to refarmed 1900mhz towers unfortunately. Still, as someone who's been browsing these forums for months hoping for some kind of breakthrough, I hadn't seen that post and it gives me hope.
Colinbo, why don't you shoot a private message to dullerm and ask for more details? It certainly looks to me like you followed the steps correctly from what you posted.

He did not follow dullerm's directions. Here is the quote for comparison.

To follow up my previous post: after flashing some more, I managed to enable the AWS band on my AT&T Lumia 920. Unless T-Mobile lit up a 1900 tower just in the few minutes that the phone was rebooting after flashing GLOBAL BLACK SWAP, I am certain that I can now use 3G on AWS with it. For those who are interested, here is what I did to my AT&T Lumia 920:
start off with a Portico AT&T ROM (OTA-updated a few weeks ago on the still locked phone)
remove SIM unlock with AT&T provided unlock code
flash pre-Portico Rogers ROM
OTA-update to Portico Rogers ROM
flash Portico EURO1 DEV ROM (RM-821!)
flash Portico Rogers ROM
flash Portico LTA1 MX ROM
flash Portico GLOBAL BLACK SWAP ROM (RM-821!) ---> saw H, H+ indicator after this!!!
flash Portico Rogers ROM ---> 4G indicator
While flashing the LTA1 MX ROM (the Latin America ROMs are nicely debranded RM-820 ROMs but don't support LTE, at least in their cellular settings for highest connection speed), I decided for whatever reason to just give another RM-821 ROM a try and went for the GLOBAL BLACK SWAP. Maybe flashing EURO1 DEV again would have also done the trick as well and just flashing back and forth somehow enabled AWS. I don't know exactly what caused it but I am happy AWS works on the AT&T Lumia 920. This phone now certainly is the Überphone

for the latin america roms, debranded and no LTE, did you get "4G" from att service, not LTE? I have a AT&T Lumia 920 on Straight Talk, and they dont get LTE so I wont miss it. but if you can confirm. I will flash to my hearts content this weekend.

In conclusion I have to believe the ATT L920 is fully capable of supporting AWS 3G.
So it seems that if simply flashing the Euro Dev ROM does not enable AWS for you, try flashing following the directions quoted above in this post including flashing the Latin America ROM

That's great. If we can get a fully reproducible method of enabling AWS on the ATT L920 I'm sure a LOT of people will be happy.
I unfortunately can not do any testing on my own L920 because I have AT&T AND I live in a refarmed T-Mobile area so I wouldn't be able to tell if I'm on AWS or 1900MHz.
H+, H and 4G indicators are all capable of showing up if you're connected to a 1900mhz tower on T-Mobile though which is why I'm still a bit skeptical. I believe dullerm since the chances of a 1900mhz tower going up while he was doing the tests is pretty slim. Colinbo is using his phone on Wind in canada which does not have 3G on 1900mhz, so if he can get it working it'll be definitive proof for me that this method does work.
And you're right, it seems he missed this step to flash the Portico LTA1 MX ROM.

You are correct - I was unable to locate the product code for the LTA1 MX ROM. I now have the product code thanks to dullerm's PM: 059S0M8
I'm pulling down the LTA MX1 bits now through NCS firmware download. It's slow so I'll re-attempt the flash tomorrow and report back. My plan is as follows:
Flash to Pre-Portico Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.2109.1242.1002_039
OTA Update to Rogers ROM (1308)
Flash to European Developer ROM: RM821_059R4H6_1232.5957.1308.0002_027
Flash to Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.5962.1314.0000_156
Flash to Latin America Mexico ROM: M820_059S0M8_1232.5957.1308.0001_036
Flash to Global Black Swap ROM: RM821_059Q5C6_1232.5951.1249.1004_044
Flash to Rogers ROM: RM820_059Q6W4_1232.5962.1314.0000_156
As a pre-caution based on a post I saw somewhere I will also use the "Reset your phone" after every application of a ROM to ensure there are no old config values kicking around.
The comparison device I have is an unlocked Rogers Lumia 920 which is connecting to WIND showing 3G/4G indicators -- not sure if there is any way to tell which frequency it is using.

As a pre-caution based on a post I saw somewhere I will also use the "Reset your phone" after every application of a ROM to ensure there are no old config values kicking around.

OK, that's great that you can get the missing ROM(s) yourself. My upload is awfully slow (or the ROMs large). Let me know if you still need them.

There is even a really definitive proof for it - you can check which tower you are on in the service menu:
Go to the phone app
Enter ##3282 and call; this will take you to the service menu
Choose "3G Reselection Status"
Look at the value for the 2nd line "Serving UARFCN", which gives the active downlink channel
If the UARFCN is 1xxx or 2xxx, you are on AWS (1700/2100). If it is below 1000 or 9xxx, you are on PCS (1900). This is not exact but good enough to tell AWS and PCS UMTS bands apart. And T-Mobile only uses those two bands for UMTS so the 1xxx-2xxx rule is easy to remember for on the road
For the exact channel numbers, please check this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands#UMTS-FDD
@petard You might still be able to tell the difference. T-Mobile is only deploying HSPA+ 21 on PCS (as far as I know) while on AWS they deployed HSPA+ 42. Probably not everywhere, though, and depending on the load of the tower, it might not make a difference after all. Just some detail to add.

##3282 and ##3282# don't do anything on my 920. I'm using AT&T ROM though. I am not going to flash it though, WP doesn't offer complete backup/restore and the 920 I experimented on I wasn't able to get it back to running the AT&T ROM. It was my 920 with dust in the FFC and I experimented with it when I got my replacement and before I sent the old one back.

Did you try typing ##3282 and then pressing "call"? Pre-portico did work without hitting call (#3282#, I think) but Portico ROMs (both AT&T, if I remember correctly, and Rogers) do require pressing call.

ATT Lumia 920 on Tmobile
Hi all,
I would like to know if anyone had success using an ATT lumia 920 on Tmobile. I see some have had success. I would appreciate if someone could share the exact steps that would make it work.
I am planning to buy an unlocked ATT 920 (from amazon) and then try making it work on Tmobile. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Rom locations.
I have NaviFirm Plus 1.7 and its not accesing any files anymore.
I was wondering if anyone can share the files needed to make the ATT Lumia 920 completely work with TMobile USA. I have a you sent it account if that helps. Thanks.

Need Three (3) UK firmware for Lumia 920

I bought a Lumia 920 from EE which i have unlocked and using with my Three (3) simcard.
I've been unsuccessful in downloading or finding Three (3) UK firmware for this phone. I want to flash it because MMS doesn't appear to work and data speeds appear to be poor on the EE firmware.
Any ideas?

data speeds are slow becuase your model does not support the frequency your provider is using. There are as of last count two version of the 920 and they apparently have different hardware radios. So just flashing may not fix your problem.

Thanks for this. Silly question but is this ok to flash if my phone is white?
I originally bought a PAYG Lumia 920 from EE in Dec 2012. I got it unlocked and used it with my Three SIM and had no problems. My SIM only contract came up for renewal in April and Three offered me a new Lumia 920 on the One Plan for £25 a month and no upfront charge for the phone. I sold my original Lumia and went for the deal making a profit overall. It came with Three firmware, obviously, and again no problem. I since upgraded the firmware to the generic Australian 1314 version and still everything works fine. Three have since unlocked the phone for me at a cost of £15.
I don't see that the specific Three firmware will help particularly, but I have it if you still want to go ahead. You can also follow one of the numerous guides on wpcentral.com and use the Nokia Care Suite to download and install the firmware as long as you have access to Windows. The product code for the Three Lumia 920 is 059R7Z3.
Might be worth downloading the Lumia Pusher app which lets you ensure you have the latest Nokia utilities installed, like Network+ and Access Point.
The only difference between the firmwares for different colour phones is the default colour scheme - for instance, if you have a red Lumia 920 the 'red' firmware will set up the default accent colour to red. Makes no other difference at all. You can easily do this step manually.
I changed my Lumia housing from black to red and made no change to the firmware, just selected red for my colour scheme.
Thanks for the helpful reply.
I flashed both Three UK rom and generic and didn't notice a difference in data speeds so ive decided to stick with generic incase Three UK have long delays in pushing updated firmware.

[Q] internet sharing not working on roaming on lumia 920 at&t

Hi,
I just unlocked my AT&T Lumia 920, I am using the local sim in india .Internet Sharing feature works on home network but not on national roaming. It says I need the tethering enabled on AT&T or call 611 .Is there anyway around this to get it enabled? I'm obviously not using an AT&T SIM.
Thanks

The only way around is flash a non-AT&T firmware that is compatible with your phone. Unlocked doesn't mean you get rid of all the shackles AT&T put on it.

As you were in india you can flash an indian rom on it:
Code:
059R2B8: RM-821 VAR IMEA INDIA CV BLACK
059R2B9: RM-821 VAR IMEA INDIA CV WHITE
059R2C1: RM-821 VAR IMEA INDIA CV YELLOW
This codes are extracted from that side: http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-l...co-update-global-lumia-920-clean-install.html
As you have an att phone you have RM-820. With the mentioned Codes you install a rom from RM-821. The main difference is:
RM-821: Global variant (expect North Amerika and China): EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100, LTE band 1 (2100), 3 (1800), 7 (2600), 8 (900) & 20 (800), LTE Cat 3 (100 Mbps Downlink, 50 Mbps Uplink), HSDPA+ Cat24 (42.1 Mbps), HSUPA Cat 6 (5.76 Mbps)
RM-820: North Amerika Variant: EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100, LTE band 2 (1900), 4 (1700/2100), 5 (850) & 17 (700), LTE Cat 3 (100 Mbps Downlink, 50 Mbps Uplink), HSDPA+ Cat24 (42.1 Mbps), HSUPA Cat 6 (5.76 Mbps)
RM-822: China Variant
Found this on wpcentral.
An instruction how to use NCS to change from RM-820 to RM-821 and vice versa can be found here.

The SIM lock is not a function of the ROM. You could put any ROM in it you wanted to and it would still be locked to AT&T.
The SIM is the issue and the phone as long as it is locked, it's hardware will only allow an AT&T SIM to be used. The ONLY way to unlock an AT&T phone is to call AT&T's international support number and ask for a code to unlock it which is free and only takes 5 minutes tops.
Or use one of the many unlocking services that a Google search will find for you and be charged anywhere from 10 to 50 USD and wait anywhere from a few minutes to a few days for the code.
These are the ONLY two ways to UNLOCK and AT&T Lumia920. There is no other way and the ROM has absolutely no affect on the SIM lock.

[Q] Flash an RM-821 to RM-820?

Because I'm a layman, I believe a little backstory for all of the other laymen helps to understand the issue.
I bought a new Lumia 920 unlocked with the RM-821 firmware from Best Buy. So I when it arrived, I threw my AT&T Lumia 900's SIM into the 920, called up AT&T to make the swap and it was working. The problem I have since discovered is the RM-821 variant does not use the same bands as an AT&T-branded 920 running RM-820 firmware, which means I cannot get LTE on my new unlocked, unbranded 920. Neither do i travel the world nor live outside of North America, so it's stupid for me to be running a ROM that cannot access my carriers LTE bands.
I've read through several threads on here and elsewhere researching the topic. Other than failed attempts to revert back to RM-820 from an RM-820 AT&T device after converting to RM-821, I have not found any definitive answers .
Is it possible to go from a factory flashed RM-821 Lumia 920 to RM-820 AT&T firmware? Thanks to everyone ahead of time for your responses.

The only ATT (i.e. RM-820) I've been able to load back onto my phone after loading a rogers ROM is the ATT Dev Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425722
that's a little more involved than what I did, but I can confirm I have the ATT Dev ROM, and was not able to load standard 820 roms
Any other thoughts?
I'd like to know if anyone has experience going to 821 to 820 on an unbranded phone.
