I'm sorry but that's the only method so far that works, it may work when it wants too but its the closest to simple we got.
Have you tried re downloading the apk?

I'm on YouTube (BioDesigner48)

If on p769 and this fails. Download superuser first and update binary from that. It will give root. Then open supersu and update binary. If it asks to remove other superuser say no to be safe.. I solved it lol

Supersu didn't update nothing.. installed superuser and it updated binary n rooted my phone. Chainfire makes both apps but I've always had more success with superuser than supersu

I just used this rooting method after reflashing my P769 to 20f.
Can you provide some details about what's happening?

Details as far as what. This thread was created because using the lgpwn method did nothing for me until I downloaded superuser instead of supersu

I used superuser for years but now I like the superSU because of all the settings I can use.well just changing the theme and most importantly adding superSU to the system folder!

The T-mobile 20D doesnt support unlocking bootloader. This is still only method to unlock bootloader on P769 for now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198114 I don't recommend it unless you want to run pinoyto's CM port.
Yea I thought about trying it but it seems complicated..

Root?

Can we root Jelly Bean yet for the tmobile variant yet? Like any easy ways preferably....
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium HD app
Lelus method is the only way currently. A hex-edited bin file for P769 Jellybean was uploaded by cmahendra in his thread. So take a look
Hi, can't we root by flashing via cwm? As I have rooted by that method
My phone is l9 jb

Ah I misunderstood the OP I think. I was assuming that he was currently stock and unrooted.
Yeah if you already have CWM you can flash a rooted backup.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
As I have unlocked bootloader, then flashed cwm using cmd in fastboot mode and rooted using update.zip via recovery

Hey friend
You can unlock your bootloader using fastboot method then it will be easier to flash recovery in kernel and if you flashed it successfully then you are done.
As after that rooting is just child play Earlier I have owned other android but I guess LG is the easiest and safest phone to root
Sent from my LG-P765 using Xparent Pink Tapatalk 2
If you don't want to do all the u boot and whatnot then just do the Lelus method with the hex file. It's not too easy but not very hard either. Hmm. . .I wonder if we could use the original root method that we used for 10e? Boys that was easy!

You do not need and unlocked bootloader to root. Easiest root in your situation would be the app LGPwn.apk which you can find in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816
Thanks for your answer ill try tommorow and will report

Stock recovery for locked bootloader

New l9 (p769) user, I realized there's no point in having cwm if your on a locked bootloader ( can't unlock bootloader one bit, on v20D) and I'm just wondering if anyone had the stock recovery so I can flash the official ota? And no matter what I can't get fastboot to work which I understand has to do with bootloader. Thanks!

Cwm is very useful even if bootloader is locked. Why do you need stock recovery for? Just update ota? And fastboot works with lock bootloaders. If you have an issue just ask me.

It doesn't let me flash the ota? I've been trying and all it does is pretend to flash about halfway and reboots..

Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
Well I'd rather just apply the ota as it is without having to do that since lack of laptop at the moment, is there a way I can get the stock recovery and push it via terminal?
Again thanks for the help!

you don't need to flash anything, just follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40871273&postcount=62
So backing up and installing the 20D backup provided will get me the stock recovery?...confused cause the link you posted was talking about removing cwm, nothing about applying the 20f update. I'm on v20d right now...
Thanks!

Okay, here we go:
1. CWM works with v20D or v20F. If you want to do OTA then you need to follow the link, that Lelus gave you, to the instructions to delete cwm from your phone.
2. If you want to flash the v20F rooted CWM backup that is on the sticky then all you have to do is download it to your sd card then get into cwm and flash the zip file.
3. I would suggest you get cwm working and backup your current ROM before you do anything just in case you run into trouble you can do the "etch-a-sketch" start over by reloading (flashing) your backup.
Good Luck!!!
Ok I deleted all remnants of cwm, renamed the file, and tried to apply the update, still no dice. Can I just restore one of the stock 20f roms stickied using cwm?

I never had a problem when rooted. The only problem that I had when rooted and doing OTA is that you lose root. Just make sure you get voodoo OTA rootkeeper to save root. You installed link2sd, busybox, deleted some apps that came with the phone, installed cwm or something that modified the system. Make a backup via cwm, then download a clean v20f here then wait for the update. Good Luck!!!
