Hi everyone, i''m technically new to the forum, but I've been snooping around for a little while now. Just want to say I really appreciate what the people here do for all, thanks.
Without further ado I'll begin with my questions.
I have a NT16 running internal CM10 with recovery flashed to emmc. (Also I have the memory partitioned in 8/8 by BN )
I've also managed to make a CM10.2 bootable SDC
For a number of reasons I want to go back to stock, what version should I choose? Once back in stock i guess I'll have to reroot and flash recovery again?. Running stock is iT possible to repartition the memory to have 12-15 media ? what would be the best way to go around and do this?
My bootableSDC has 32gb capacity, how should allocate the memory? What exactly are the different partitions for?

/boot holds the boot-related files and recovery, /system holds ROM system files and Gapps, /data holds apps you download, /sdcard holds apps data and media content.

Hey everyone!
Is there a way to method yet for the S2 to rewrite the partitions? My S2 will be arriving today, replacing my Desire Z, and so the only reason I ask is because I like a simple partition where there is one for the phone and one for the sdcard (especially when it comes to using CWM and such).
Like on a harddrive, rather than having two partitions, like this case where there is the "internal memory" of 1gb or whatever it is, and then the remainder 16gig (not including the sdcard) is read AS an external. Could it be simply rewritten for the internal to be ~17gb? I do remember rewriting partition size on the G1 to get Cyanogenmod 6 to fit on it.
Just curious, please don't flame me if this is not feasible (or has been already done, again I don't have the phone yet and I haven't come across anything in my research, and yes I did search for it, even used "partition" to find anything).

Hmm... Why would you want that? Explanation makes no sense.
You get about 500 MB system, 2 GB data, can't remember cache, then 11 GB as sdcard, with external sd optional.
You could modify the pit in theory but that's risky, and what you are trying seems confused or outdated for this phone

Well I am just thinking from my experience with the Captivate that it poses some "oddness" when dealing with the sdcard and things like CWM, since when you put an sdcard it, it then has 3 partitions (internal, "internal extention," and the sdcard). Is there a reason the extra space is partitioned out instead of having it as part of the internal?
I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else here before. I have been searching for days and have not found the full answers to my questions anywhere.
Recently I updated my GT-P7510 CM9 to an experimental CM10 from by pershoot. After getting it up and running I was looking at my internal storage usage and numbers didn't seem to add up (must have done a dirty flash at some point in the past to cause this). My internal storage in root explorer showed 8.93gb in use and 28.01 total storage. I copied everything to a USB drive to back it up and noticed there was only 7.45gb actually on the internal storage. I have seen this problem before on my S2, and I always just reformat the internal SD card (emmc) to regain the missing space. However, since the tab does not have a micro SD slot, I have no way of wiping the internal sdcard (data/media) without wiping out the rom too from how I understand it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong...
So, does anybody know of a way to successfully wipe/format the sdcard (data/media directory) in CWM or other method that will not wipe out the rom and send the device straight to cwm with no way to install a new rom? Or do I have to revert back to stock to accomplish the format of sdcard like I have read for a few other similar situations? Everything works fine (CM10 & CM9 both run awesome), I just want that extra 1.48gb of missing/phantom storage back. And, without mass storage mode, I cannot perform a disk check in win7. This has really got me frustrated to find a solution without having to start over. I wish this tab had a micro SD slot!
Currently I am running CM9 nightlies (7-31) for p4wifi (gt-p7510). My cwm recovery is version 6.0.1.0. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I do apologize if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance to those of you smarter than I.

Ok, I seemed to have figured this one out and now feel pretty stupid for not digging a bit further before asking.
After I decided to go ahead with the sdcard format using CWM, I noticed that the space was still being used somewhere. After I started to dig a bit, I noticed that all of my apps still worked after the format. Basically, the extra space is being consumed by the /data/app folder housing all user apps. CWM must be designed to ignore this directory when formatting the internal sdcard which is why there was still some storage being used.
I feel like an ubernoob for asking this, but my S2's internal sdcard is not mapped to data/media, so I had to learn a bit better about how this thing works I suppose. Anyways, I hope this information can be useful to someone out there having similar questions.

Although that is a similar problem, I asked if there is a way to fix it without going that route? I appreciate your reply, but I already knew it could be resolved by going back to stock (2nd paragraph of my post).

Ow sorry didnt notice few words,i think u could just flash a cwm via odin wich can wipe/reset all data if im not mistaking,
I'll chek this out is there any cwm'ds who can do that,coz i rememba reading one forum where guy was complaining that he did wipe and everything was formated!

I can accomplish a full format of the internal sdcard on my galaxy s2 without it affecting the rom in any way whatsoever and it is running cwm 6.0.1.0 also. From how I understand it, the partitions are set up differently on the s2 and this device. The s2 has a separate partition for the internal sdcard making it possible to format via cwm. On this device, the sdcard is part of the data partition meaning wiping it will leave you with no rom installed and no storage on the sdcard. I think all versions of cwm can wipe the slate clean, it is just a matter of everything else being wiped clean also. But, if you are aware of a cwm that let's me accomplish this, I would love to find it. Thanks again.

I have the same issue .. I was manually formatted using my windows 7 laptop.. flash back to old stock samsung firmware.. still 4.11 GB internal USb storage instead of 11.8 GB.. Any help please..
I think it's possible with adb shell (the android sdk for Windows)

Hello, I have downloaded and installed the latest Cm11 and for some reason I am not longer able to use my internal sdcard. I can see and use the external sd but not the internal one. I just have the phone with 2Gb for apps and nothing else, unless I put the external sd.
I saw the partition on via parted is a fat32, but can mount nor format it on CWM recovery nor on my PC. At the end of the day I lost 12Gb of memory on my phone. Is there any way to remove and reformat the UMS partition (12Gb) with parted or any other application without having to put the stock ROM back? I also try Aparted application but is not able to see the partition at all.
BTW I would like to have 8Gb for apps and 8 Gb on my internal sd card, but I really do not know how to do it with Odin without bricking my phone. Any guidance on this? I want to keep using CM11 of course but could not find the md5 files to be used with Odin for CM11.
Any help will be much appreciated.

You really are intent on trying to turn your phone into a paperweight, aren't you ? Do the smart thing & leave the partitions alone once you've fixed it.

Definitively not. I am trying to find the proper pit files to do it as well as to recover my sdcard space. I trust on this forum, that is why and looking for help here. Frankly, to leave the partitions alone is my first option, however I think that 2Gb for the phone apps is not enough for heavy phone users. Thanks.

I will be reading comments and experiences before going for a different partition, I think is risky, but I would like to try, whether the comments on the thread you have just sent me, are in favor of doing it. I have recently bought an android tablet with KitKat and 16 GB internal storage.
But there were just 1gb available memory for installing apps and the remaining 11 GB were USB storage.
As I didn.t like this I tried to partition flash memory with mini partition tool wizard home(or sth like that I donno the name exactly).
I have partitioned the flash memory as following: 3gb for internal storage(fat32), remaining memory for USB storage and 8mb as ext2( I completed this after a tutorial).
Everything was done ,I applied and then I reboot my tablet. When I entered link2sd said that cannot detect my partition. When I get to storage information I realized that I still had 1gb internal memory, but 445mb USB storage. I was a bit panicked so I tried to wipe data, but didn't work. When I tried to repartition the flash memory with mini part tool , the computer couldn't connect to my tablet storage.
I have lost my internal memory(most of it) and now I want to recover it as it was stock.
Plsssss help me I have root access and I think there is a way to fix with root explorer but I don't no it so hopefully you guys understand my issue and help me.

Are you rooted?
Edit: nvm you are I see.
You have to use an external SD card for link2sd, does not work with internal storage.

OK I got it but I want to get my stock partition back

Why would you repartition your storage to a windows (fat32) partition? This is a Linux based system running on ext4. You may just have killed that partition without redoing your device from the boot loader up.

OK I know that but is there any solution to recover my internal storage partition?
I used diskinfo and I realized that my partitions exists but they cannot be mounted.

You will need some sort of default rim update with the correct partitions. It will wipe your device if you can find one. Which depends on the device. You. At have corrupted it beyond any repair you can do. Check the oem site as you. Ever stated what device it is.

It is an Allview viva q7 16 GB but it is rebranded after onda 711s(basically they'r same devices). Can I solve it replacing system files with the correct partitions from an official ROM?
I also need to no what files do I have to replace.

OK don't take this the wrong way but you really seem to have no idea what your doing. No you can not fix a partition issue by replacing some system files. You messed the base system up. I would go to the oem site and forums and see if you can find something that will help you. Basically you will have to flash a rom from the boot loader. This should fix your issue. But with it being a minor brand device you may spend a long time finding it but I wish ukulele luck.

Oem stand for original equipment manufacturer. A google search may find it as I have never even heard let alone seen this device.
Now if/when you get it fixed I would advice you to do your proper research before doing something that could leave your device bricked and void your warranty. Age has nothing to do with it. My sons are the same age and know to spend a few hours or even days researching an issue before trying anything. Flashing your device is not an easy, no risk thing to do. It holds many risks as you have found out. I would read up on Linux a bit

I know age has nothing to do ,it was about I didn't no things like I need to reflash device to restore partition. I have great experience with android and flashing Roms as I have plenty of devices. I change Roms weekly tasting their features. Whatever my dad is working in it but he's on windows.
I have found a possible solution to my prblm after few hrs of googling== I found with disk info that I didn't make any partition, their just unmounted. Nows da big question: is it a way to mount them ( I found out that I could merge partition kernel source- or srh like that -)

Hello.
My Father has a Galaxy S II , and he is always complaining that his phone is low on space.
The phone is 16GB and has another 16GB MicroSD card.
Most of his on-board integrated 16GB is free, and his MicroSD card is almost completely empty, the problem is that this phone has a very small Android OS 2GB partition, and every time he installs an app it always leaves something on the OS partition (even after manually moving every possible app to SD using the built in Move To SD, and placing all photos and videos on MicroSD). So even with very few Apps installed his phone is always begging for space since essentially he can only make use of 2GB of his 32GB of storage.
So I have considered maybe the best way to fix this his issue, is to install a Custom ROM on his phone, which only contains 1 Single Partition for the integrated 16GB of storage space, and another partition for the 16GB of MicroSD storage.
Thus eliminating the limited 2GB OS partition. (basically make it like every new Android phone since the galaxy S2)
I have never used a custom Android ROM so this is new to me ( i am more familiar with PC's).
So my primary question before I start looking for info and procedures on rooting and custom roms for this phone is as follows:
IS it possible to even install a new android OS on this phone which will have only one primary partition, or is this phone forever destined to only work as it is now with a small 2GB OS partition? In other words is there a hardware limitation which prevents this phone from addressing more than 2GB for its OS partition?

You can repartition the phone using a modified PIT file. You will be able to increase the Data partition to avoid the "out of space" when installing or updating apps. The tradeoff is to have a smaller internal SD partition.
I have done it to my S 2.
There is a thread with clear instructions on how to do it. You will have to learn to use Odin, but that will be very useful as long as you have Samsung phones.

No. You must use the Odin / Pit file to modify partition sizes.
And yes, that assumes you will flash a new rom.

Don't forget to mention that re-partitioning your phone will delete all data so do a backup!!!!!
