No, it wont work until you flash it to a provider in your country. Sense the phone was activated in another country, your not going to be able to use networking because the provider is out of range. Also if you get signal, and the provider from the phone's country has retail stores in your country, then the networks in your country could be blocking your phone from receiving networking, sense its using a different area code, ip,etc.
You best bet is going to your local service provider and getting the for unlocked or flashed to that service. They will give you a new SIM card and everything should work awesome

You have to root your phone first using SRS Root application, then install an application from Play Store that called HiAPN Global, use that to set your default APN settings, about "Unknown Type Card" just rename your sim card to a desired carrier.

Hello all,
my wife bought Nordmende NS531Q dual sim smartphone. Due to some problems I came across I tried to flash a new ROM that unfortunately it was not suited for it so phone got brick.
I tried to find a proper ROM for it, but I got nothing on internet. Could some of you help me or at least tell me how I could find the "real phone model" (I'm sure Nordmende rebranded it). I guess it supports an MTK chipset.
Thanks a lot in advance

Hey guys,
I'm a newbie on this forums, but I've long been a lurker searching for mods on my old Galaxy Y. Since I got a new smartphone and wasn't satisfied with its interface on KitKat (cursed Lenovo), I decided to mod my smartphone by flashing in TWRP and deleting everything and installing CyanogenMod 12.1 cyandrew's version for the Lenovo A536.
Problem is, it wouldn't detect my SIM, which is of Globe Telecom - Philippines origin. I got this A536 from one of Globe Telecom's promos where they would give a free smartphone with a postpaid SIM, but adding in a monthly payment to the bill. So I got this Lenovo A536 from them.
Forget the postpaid SIM, I trashed it since they kept adding hidden payments, I'm using one of their prepaid SIMs.
Back on track, I installed cyandrew's CM 12.1 for Lenovo A536, and now it doesn't read any SIM. I tried sticking in my parents' SIM on both slots 1 and 2, but no bueno. I tried my SIM on their smartphones to see if my SIM was damaged, but they read it, so the SIM's out of play here.
I've done some research and I've led to think that, when I wiped my smartphone clean using TWRP, the firmware for the built-in Mediatek MT6582M has been wiped, so there's no cell radio control for the SIM card to be read. Oddly enough, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth works perfectly fine though, so I am real confused.
Could it really be the firmware? If so, can someone hand me their A536 MTK6582M firmware and teach me how to install it?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, since I'm stuck with no means of cell communication.
I'll add some specs here. Note though that I haven't paid any attention to the kernel and baseband version before I flashed the phone clean.
CyanogenMod 12.1-20160205-UNOFFICIAL[Cyandrew-port]
Unknown Baseband version
Kernel version: 3.4.67 [email protected] #1 Thu Aug 13 14:14:15 CST 2015
Build date: 02-07-2016
Build #: A536_LMY49F
Device: Lenovo A536
All I know is, my phone contains a Mediatek MTK6582M and I think the firmware that's controlling the cell radio portion has been wiped or is not working.
Bump cause it went way back in the subforum list
This thread can be closed. I managed to fix the problem by inserting the SIM, then using Root Explorer to head into root/data and deleting the 'nvram' folder. Performed a normal reboot and everything works fine. SIM detected, IMEI numbers show up, Baseband is recognized, USSD identified, and can call and text perfectly. Thanks anyways.
Pwde malaman kung pano i fix ang problem ko cm12 pag nag live video kasi ako sa fb at youtube black lang pero nag play at may sounds
