SGP321 Bootloader Lock - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was on version 10.3.1.A.0.244 on a Unbranded SGP321 Tablet Z. I did not check if my bootloader unlock allowed was Yes or No.
I wanted to root so I did this:
1. Flashed the firmware to 10.1.1.A.1.307 via Flashtool
2. Rooted the device with DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (v17) {perf_event exploit}
3. Backed up TA with this TA backup app
Root was working but I was unable to unlock the bootloader via flashtool as bootloader unlock allowed was no.
I flashed to the latest 10.3.1.A.0.244 via flashtool, but bootloader remained unlock-able.
I also tried to restore the system with Sony Update Service, it downloaded the latest firmware and flashed the device whilst it was on flashmode. However, the bootloader remained unlock-able.
I purchased this device unbranded so I cannot understand why it will not be allowed to unlock. I have never inserted any SIM into the device.
Furthermore, please check the picture attached; The IMEI and IMEI Software Version are written as known!
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Just flashed again with SUS and IMEI word is displayed correctly. However, still bootloader unlock-able.

[Q] Help with my Xperia Mini Pro bootloader :)

So,I've rooted and unlock its bootloader for a long time.I also install my phone ClockWorkMod Recovery and etc. other root stuff (My android is 2.3.4 .58 Firmware)
So,today I thought I will finally relock my bootloader as my phone will receive a new ICS official from Sony Ericsson anytime from now until end of June,so I download a relock bootloader ftf file (I've searched it in the internet, and download the right file). After I flashed it (I've enabled USB debugging before shut down my phone and I also sure my phone is in flash mode during flash),my phone WON'T boot up...I don't know what happen,so I'm currently fixing it by using WotanServer, and it downloading in progress now (My x10 Mini Pro bricked 5 times, and I fix it 5 times by myself without whining )
So,I wanna ask you guys :
Why my phone won't boot up?Although the bootloader is locked by Flashtool, but it won't boot up I've stock FIRMWARE and stock KERNEL in my phone...never modified it,only root, unlock its bootloader and flash CWM in it...
Thanks for reading I hope you can answer my question
Regards,
UchihaDareNial
Uhm, since WotanServer installs also stock kernel back...doesn't it require unlocked bootloader?
I am not sure, but that would make sense with all other kernel installations also.
Unlock bootloader, install firmware and kernel with WotanServer again, boot and relock bootloader.

Thanks for the information man,by the way,I just restore my phone using WotanServer and WotanServer will always be my trust to restore my phone if it got a brick or something like that
I restore my phone with Firmware .58 and I rooted it using ZergRush, and update it using OTA [My phone automatically bootloader locked] (I install US Generic xD even I live in Malaysia,so I got Sk17a instead of Sk17i) and now I got .62 firmware with root access in my phone

I think not as pc companion don't require unlocked bootloader to flash the rom.

Yep,you are right...
Because,WotanServer and PC Companion and SEUS use OTHER method which I (even other ROM developer maybe?) don't know how the file work with the flashing without needed bootloader unlocked right?

PC Companion doesn't work with unlocked bootloader at all.
You might be correct, as I have never tried update/repair via PC Companion.

I know, the point is that it's not necessary for flashing stock kernel bootloader to be unlocked.I think it's pretty obvious, if it didn't update with locked bootloader then sony would have to force users to unlock bootloader or give unlocked phones or never update kernel.

[Q] Downgrade from .244 to .307

[Q] Downgrade from .244 to 307
Hi Folks
I've just updated my tablet to the 10.3.1.A.0.244 and i didn't knew it wasn't rootable, I feel like an idiot.
So now i want to downgrade to .307 wich can be root and then update it to .244.
I spotted this tuto [FTF][4.2.2] Xperia Tablet Z (SGP321) 10.3.1.A.0.244 Global Unbranded but i'm not quite sure about some of the steps.
How can i flash the .307 firmware with flashtool if my tablet isn't bl unlocked?
How after flashing the .244 firmware back can i boot my tablet from a boot.img?
And finaly does the backup TA method really relock the bl as it was prior bl unlock?
Thank you in advance for you help!

Thanks for your reply mate!
Can you tell me wich partitions you excluded in flashtool? which checkbox you checked?
i was so eager to gain root access in order to remove all the bloatware that i couldn't wait to try and finaly i did it but once finished my device was stuck in a bootloop^^
I had to update it via sony update tool to get it back.
At first i excluded everything except the system partition and i also unchecked wipe data, it didn't work...
Then i added baseband cause i assumed it was linked to the firmware and that was why it failed, wasn't it either...
I have an unknown partition which i don't what it's used for^^ and also a partition named partition ( the internal memory?).
FOTA and TA i can guess.

I simply followed the instructions in the thread ...
So just to be clear
So just to be clear, you lunched flashtool you click flash, selected the flasmode method then selected the 307 firmware in the list ( where did you dowloaded the 307 firmware??
i founded it on this thread [FTF] SGP321 10.1.1.A.1.307 Unbranded)
Then what did u do? Just click flash and nothing else?
I don't see any particular directives except flash 307^^

Correct and that is the link where I downloaded the .307 firmware from - just make sure you check the md5's after download - also make sure you have the tablet in Flashmode (FlashTool will tell you if it is in Flashmode or Fastboot)
hth.

That isn't a TA partition, that is a copy of the .307 unbranded firmware (.ftf file)
The TA partition backup is later in the instructions and you are correct, you have to restore your own TA backup as they are tied to the individual phone.
To be honest, and please take this the way it was intended, by the types of questions you are asking it would appear that this is all very new to you - please proceed at you own risk as I cannot help much further as I simply followed the instructions in the original post.

New to the tablet z for sure i've had several abdroid devices sony htc samsung, never had any problems but with this one i'm king of very cautious..
Makes me Wonder why^^
Flashed it works but i don't want to unlock the bl since i need to enter my imei on sony's website and that mate voids the garanty^^
I will stay on .307 until a root procedure comes up for .244
Many thanks for your time!

Yes, I thought that as well re: IMEI, but simply requesting an unlock code via the Sony site doesn't mean you actually went thru with the unlock process - as long as your tablet is showing the correct Rooting status = "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" then they have no proof that you followed thru with the unlock ...
I understand your caution though ...

[SOLVED] Reunlocking the bootloader error

Hi guys,
I am seeking help. I had an unlocked bootloader for a while and then relocked it via flashtool. Now I would like to unlock it again, but flashtool throws errors on me:
- Command not succeeded or Failed: Device is rooted already
I do not have root (checked with root checker), and the .ftf firmware I have flashed was .108 Generic Europe.
Any ideas what's going on?

How did you backup your TA Partition?
A few months ago, I had the very same issue. However I never used flashtool to relock my bootloader.
For me, I am in the belief that I had an issue with TA Backup 9.10, as after I restored my TA Partition via TA Backup 9.10 from a backup made from the same version I would be faced with the same error. As I had previous used TA Backup 9.9 to backup my TA Partition, I tried that version with the backup it had made, and I was able to unlock my bootloader again.
Summary
Using TA Backup version 9.10 to backup my TA Partition and then restore it to relock the bootloader resulted in Command not succeeded or Failed: Device is rooted already. When trying to re-unlock my bootloader.
Using TA Backup version 9.9 to backup my TA Partition and then restore it to relock the bootloader, Fastboot was able to unlock my bootloader again.
Thanks for a suggestion. However I managed to unlock it with a different method.
In the flashtool folder, check if
[FLASHTOOL FOLDER]/custom/mydevices/[DEVICE SERIAL]/ulcode.txt
exists.
If not, create the folders along the way there and then use notepad or something very lightweight to create the ulcode.txt. Put in the code, be sure to enter the code without the 0x, so just the code as it came from Sony. Save the file and start FlashTool.
Cheers.

Unable to unlock bootloader

I just bought the Z2 phone which is UNBRANDED and check that the BOOTLOADER can be UNLOCKED under the configuration menu. The phone is rooted which I verified through a program. Using Android 4.4.2, Build 17.1.2.A..0.314
Tried the flashtools to unlock it
Flashtools - gives me the error that the bootloader cannot be unlocked. Tells me to unplug the phone and turn it on.
Any help?
Try 2-3 times.
But first root with easyroot then backup the TA partition then while in root, unlock. Everything will work.

1. install all drivers
2. run flashtool as admin
3. make sure your imei code was right
4. make sure your unlock code was right
5. try again a few times
misc. check if your bootloader is unlockable in your service menu, does it say rooting is alowed (i dont remember what menu this was in):*#*#SERVICE#*#* in your dialier

Yes rooting is allowed
Im using flashtool only as admin not the official method and tried alot with no luck
Iv’e tried to unlock via flashtool as above but it tells me it cannot be officially unlocked, before doing this I checked on the phone and it says bootloader unlockable yes
You might want to try the "old-fashion" way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440597
You have to root first to backup TA partition (or don't haha but please do it is essentially your warranty)
Then go to the Sony Dev page to get your unlock code. You need your imei. Then, use that in fastboot(not flashtool oops). The instructions are in the Sony page. This WILL wipe your phone so you might wanna tibu stuff into your sdcard

I have backuped TA
If i use the official way from sony will it be a problem if I want to relock it again for warranty purposes or if occured faults for the device?
Do Sony know that i have unlocked the bbotloader then it will void warrant even if I lock it again?

No idea but I doubt it. The unlock process cannot send a notification to Sony, but I am not sure what their policy is on you obtaining the unlock code. Should be fine though

I would suspect that if Sony wanted to be arses about it that they will take the obtaining an unlock code as proof it was unlocked, do you tick a box to say you accept you are voiding your warranty when you request the code? But it doesn't make a difference what method you use as both require the unlock code from Sony.

[Q] Unlocking the bootloader with being able to relock it

Hi,
So I'm completely new to rooting Android-phones and I just read many threads about rooting and tried to inform myself as good as I can.
But I still don't know if everything will work so I need some kind of prove...
So that's what I "planned":
1. Downgrade to firmware .55 or .69 so I can root my Z2 with locked bootloader using the Community Rootkit
2. Backup the TA with TA Backup so I can relock the bootloader again and get my warranty back if needed
3. Unlock the bootloader and flash to the latest Lollipop firmware (prerooted)
4 (optional). Getting CyanogenMod instead of the Sony firmware
Some questions:
- Can I restore the TA backup on the latest firmware (unrooted/official/flashed with Sony's Emma flasher) even though I made it on .55 or .69?
- What features wont be usable anymore after unlocking my bootloader and using a rooted Sony firmware besides X-reality and the DRM keys? (Noise cancelling is somewhat important to me)
- Will I be able to use X-reality and all the other (somewhat unnecesarry) features again with relocking the bootloader via my TA backup?
- According to step 3: Do I need to upgrade to the latest official firmware in order to unlock the bootloader via Sony's website? Or can I unlock it with the rooted .55/.69 aswell?
Thanks in advance!
