I want to try out developing an android app and at least initially I will be the only one installing it. It's it possible to create an Android developer account without paying $25 or can I create an app and install it on my rooted device without a developer account?

it is possible to develop an app for free and you can install it without developer account on your rooted device but you can't upload to playstore cause that needs the developer account.

I'm just starting to look into writing apps cause I can't find a decent one to fit my needs. So I'll get a normal apk after compiling my project that I can install on my rooted phone with no problem?
Exactly

I'm downloading the SDK now. Had anyone tried Google's new Android Studio? Not sure if I should learn on that or Eclipse.

Since I have updated my phone to CM 12.1 I am not able to install apps that are being shared by my friends. Also I am not able to install apps unless they are downloaded by play store. Adding to this I am also not able to turn on accessibility option for some apps like Greenify ,Nova launcher etc . Please suggest me a way to fix it , if so that would be great .
Thank you

The application is attached.
Changelog:
V3.3
-Improved installer by writing main application directly to /system/ instead of extracting to storage and then moving it.
-Added installation support on marshmallow
V3.2
-Added dynamic installation which will help this application get installed on many devices without any problems
-Added support for jellybean and kitkat devices.
-Should work on Note 2, 3, 4 and 5 and other S-Pen devices now without any problems (all variants, only N910F note 4 variant was tested, please give feedback)
V3.1
-Rewrote the installer. Installer is much more reliable now.
-Rewrote the service from scratch up. No notification, and uses very little power since it only runs when the pen state changes.
-Removed Learning/Static modes because I thought they were redundant.

Is there a slightly degraded version of this app that would work for non-rooted devices?

I'm afraid not, there's no way to change the used keyboard without root access.
Excellent..
This app is excellent. Is it possible to add some extra functionality like for Teamviewer and Terminal I want hackers keyboard and the rest swype + dragon.
Thanks for application.

I'm glad you like it. There is no known way to detect when an application is opened, which means that the only way to do this is to periodically check for the foreground application (every 5 seconds for example), which would make the application drain too much battery for my liking.
I'll look into it further (maybe there's a way to detect application launch using root), but I can't make any promises.

Oh well, I tried to get it to work without trying on a note 5. Could you maybe help me with diagnosing the problem by chatting on Hangouts or something? That would be great.
I'll PM you my gmail if you agree.
Thanks for the feedback!

After reboot, I have again: " The application is ready to be installed.. Click..... (...) to proceed" ....

Did it ask for root on first launch? Delete the application's data and check supersu if root privileges have been granted.

Yes, it asked me about root privileges and I allowed it on first launch.
I can't delete application data because this button is inactive in a application manager...
Supersu checked, everything is ok.
Is the app compatible with Marshmallow? I can't test it yet, I'm waiting to root because of knox and warranty
It does not work with Note 5 - 6.0.1, I downloaded it from Play Store, run and install, then reboot my phone. After that I run the app again and it still asks me to install.
I will very soon work on a fix for both Jellybean and Marshmallow versions. Sorry for the late reply but was extremely busy.

I'm such an idiot. I rooted for your app alone and didn't find this thread until afterward. I have a Note 5 on 6.0.1. Has there been any progress? I'd gladly buy the app. Thanks.
EDIT- Once you click Install, only a fraction of a second passes and it says to reboot. There is no way enough time passes to actually install anything.
If xposed is installed Freecharge closes with error message "App has been hooked by third party app, please uninstall third party app and continue" .This module can be used to bypass this restriction.
Requirements
- Xposed Framework
- Freecharge app at least version 7.9.9
- Android 4.0+ (tested only in 6.0, but should be working in other version too)
Usage
1. Install FreeChargeUnblocker
2. Activate module in XposedInstaller
3. Reboot
4. Have fun with unblocked app.
Download
You can download the mod from repo via XposedInstaller
Support
The module was tested by me on 6.0.1 with latest version of the app (7.9.9). It should be working fine on other ROMs.
Please leave feedback with an Xposed log and the version of Freecharge app if not working, so I can take a look at it.
I will not add any new features. This module is only for skipping the Xposed restriction
Changelog
1.0: Initial module.

As described in thread description, If xposed is installed, freecharge won't start. With this module, freecharge will start even xposed is installed.
Thanks so much, could you be kind enough to brief us about how exactly this module overcomes the issue?

Nope, I was just curious, I had earlier followed the other hack around of recompiling the apk as told by some other author here on XDA, but now this module works like a charm on my redmi Note3, so I'm just curious
It just took 2 lines of code to bypass, I just hooked to their checking method and returned false. I didn't have any prior experience in developing Android app or Java. But was too much annoyed by their strategy
works.. thank u..

The tweak has nothing to do with promo code option. It just bypass freecharge's check of xposed binary. It doesn't bypass any other check performed by freecharge app.

Hi,
just to say it: I would not have to ask this question at all, if the cyanogen forum would be up... I'm pretty sure I'm not the first cyanogenOS user with this problem.
I'm a TripAdvisor user and the android app is letting me down during my holiday at this very moment. Because I'm using CyanogenOS (not rooted) it won't show the embedded google map. The complete error message I'm getting is: "Themes on devices running Cyanogen OS are known to cause crashes with Google Maps. Maps on TripAdvisor will be disabled on this device."
I've never had a crash with Google Maps on Wileyfox Swift2. So how do I get rid of the issue with very little effort?
Thanks!
I have this same problem. It's a bit annoying for the TripAdvisor app to not even give the user the option to try the embedded Google Maps. The original poster's idea of "hiding" the fact that the device is running CyanogenMod (in my case, despite that TripAdvisor thinks its Cyanogen OS) from the app would be a useful workaround.
Anyone?
thanks.
(OnePlus One, CyanogenMod 14.1 nightly last, until LineageOS gets up and running...)
Same problem here with running Oneplus One CyanogenOS . I'm pretty sure it is a way of tripadvisor boycott Cyanogen powered devices, because I never had a single problem using both Tripadvisor or Google Maps...
Hi littlebifi, you made a point to note that your device is not rooted; is that to suggest that on a rooted device you know of a way to fool the TripAdvisor app into NOT blocking Google Maps embedded? How?
thanks,

Hi,
I'm sorry, but I don't know if it's possible to fool the app if the device would be rooted. I just stated it to describe my current setup.
As a temporary solution I downgraded my Tripadvisor app to the previous version (uninstalled the old one, downloaded an old apk from some database online and installed this one) and now it's working again. But now I have annoying update notices from the play store, but the embedded map works again.
URL of prior version Tripadvisor app .APK?
Thanks for the reply. Could you post the URL of the prior version Tripadvisor app .APK that you used? (I make the assumption that you're satisfied that it's a legitimate version, not infected/tainted).
cheers,

I'm not allowed to post outside links. So please post the link I send you as pm instead of me
I can't give any guarantee for the outside link. It works for me.
Version 19 and higher has the block for mods, so I choose the latest Version 18.
Thanks. I tried both the link you sent in the PM and another I found by searching, and on my OnePlus One with CM14.1 both are rejected as corrupt...

It's not the fact that it's an .apk instead of a Store installation (that would give a different error). The Android Package Installer really thinks that these are corrupt - or perhaps the OnePlus One or CM14.1/Android 7.1 .apk has to be slightly different than whatever I'm finding in these .apk archives?

Google Pay is not an antiwalware app, it like other payment apps refuses to work in rooted devices not cause these have malwares but is against the security rules of this kind of apps. They have fear that some operation can be hacked. Search in magisk, I guess that it has an option to bypass this.
I don´t think that contains some but if you want to be sure scan your device with some antimalware app.
