You don't have one of these phones.

Ok well my xda app just says sIII q&a and troubleshooting.. its mistake. Plus I could have an internship s3 also, either way cwm works the same across the two. For the sake of people jumping down my throat. Regardless it's resolved so this can be locked anyways.

It would be a mistake to make an assumption that everything works the same on both devices. If I gave you an i9300 CWM recovery, you could brick your device.
I'm sorry you feel like people are jumping down your throat but they are not. It is for YOUR OWN PROTECTION. Be savvy and post in the right forums. We cannot guess if you have the wrong device and we can give you advice that can lead to your device being bricked forever. You would not be happy.
I would rather be told I am in the wrong forum than people not mention it in case they offend my delicate nature - then allow me to brick my device. You should be grateful we pointed it out to you.
Also, we are pointing it out for people here. FOR THEIR PROTECTION. What if someone came here and asked you for a link to the recovery you used? You post it still not knowing you're in the wrong forum. You could be partly responsible for how many bricks????
Now everyone knows and no one has a bricked phone. Knowledge prevails.

I'm not reading all that because I'm busy, but apparently you are here more for argument, rather the helping side of things. The thread is over, and it would be a mistake to make assumptions, because that in itself was an assumption, the recovery I used said specifically it would work with either model. But thanks for your help I guess.

I'm not here for an argument. I'm here to stop people breaking their devices. Something that seems lost on you. It's a shame you're "too busy" to read the important information I just posted and too ignorant to realise that you're lucky nothing worse happened to your device.
For anyone who does actually care, since the t999 T-mobile USA device that the OP has, has completely different hardware, the kernels are NOT interchangeable, so no recovery is interchangeable either.
This thread needs to be locked and lost in the ether.

Actually, incorrect, I'm not ignorant at all, the only mistake I made was clicking on the "wrong forum" when it said "s3 q&a" because they failed to mention it was the international model, in my app. I never had any intentions on posting a link to the cwm file I used. Really guy, get over yourself. You made your awesome point now move on.

1st question. why wouldnt you follow the rules and make a nandroid backup? because if you did, you wouldnt be having this issue.
2nd question. why wouldnt you give the necessary information as to what you flashed and from where?
its almost impossible to help you out when you give no information. you also havent bricked your phone if you can turn it on still.
This is what happens when you put the cart before the horse.
More info on what you did so we can:

No, that won't work.
The rules of XDA are clear - Search before posting, never post before reading the FAQ.
Not flashing anything until you have done research is just plain common sense.
How to flash I9100 firmwares, and WHICH ones can be flashed, is covered in the FAQ topic. The original poster CLEARLY did not read the FAQ.
Assuming that you're still on the ICS ROM......it depends on what exactly you flashed but this could be the solution. Flash the correct modified kernel based on what base ICS ROM you flashed(if you don't know then look at settings->about phone). You will then need to flash a correct i777 modem as well(depends if it is Samsung or AOSP based). Without knowing more about what you flashed I can't really help you further.

Dont know what you're talking about, I cant ban people. If a person gets enough infractions then the higher ups ban people because they cant follow the rules. All infractions are looked at then double looked at, so if your friend got banned, then he deserved it.

I think you have the wrong attitude here. Yes, it's good to help people that KNOW how to help themselves. But when they blatantly ignore all the help already available they become more of a nuisance than any real development of this forum. I'm sorry If that seems a bit harsh. But this place was not started to spoon feed people that don't know what they are doing. It's been stated time and time again. This is NOT a help desk forum. [Q] Noob to XDA Dev. Looking to see if I understand this right regarding ICS ROMs.

Hey guys! I've lurked around here for a while. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II for ATT a few months ago after being a longtime iPhone user. Therefore, I'm fairly new to the whole Android tweaking process. I want to install an ICS ROM onto my phone, particularly CM9. I've read the stickies, and am really trying to understand, but at the same time, do not wish to brick my phone. So could someone tell me if this is correct? Or where I'm wrong? Based on what I've read here, to install ICS, I need to...
1. Root my phone as outlined in the thread for that. (The one about not activating the yellow triangle. Since I'm on 2.3.6, I'll need to use "Odin3 One-Click Downloader".)
2. Backup my apps and texts and crap using Titanium Backup to my SD card.
3. Install the proper kernel (where do I find this?) using Mobile Odin.
4. Make sure CWM is active, backup NAND (I assume this is an option?) and flash CM9.
5. Flash Google Apps.
6. Restore my Ti backup.
Thanks guys for the help! And sorry if I'm being stupid/completely misunderstanding.
Read, useless thread is useless

Read, read and read some more. Do a search for Hellraiser as there are no true ICS ROMs for this phone yet, only i900 ports.
If you need to ask questions like this, you are not ready for ICS and ICS is not ready for you.
Since I9100 kernel source code has only been out for a week and we had a bunch of I777-specific **** to fix - while lots of progress has been made things are not quite working yet.
man some people are rude in here....
And others are lazy. Welcome to XDA.
There are a lot of different roms. Usually they rewrite the kernel within the install of the rom. But basically you have the right idea...

Facts are facts, loser. There is not yet a fully-functioning official ICS ROM released for the i777, so any talk of one is premature. The guy admits in the title of this thread that he is a noob and doesn't quite understand. These are exactly the people who should not be flashing ANYTHING, let alone a ROM that is not ready for primetime. But keep on encouraging him and others so that the forum gets filled with people needing help to fix what they messed up. I'm sure you'll be rewarded with tons of adulation for your efforts. Troll indeed.

Thanks for the link.
I guess I made a bad attempt at trying to help. I just wanted to bring attention to the link attached in that thread. I could not access it.
I'll have never completely understood why it is that people on this forum have to act as though they are being put out by others posting questions. Yeah..yeah..yeah.. Search the forum... Read the post you idiot.. Don't post without reading...etc. etc.. etc...
Regardless of how stupid you may believe I am... It does not change that fact that the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335703) attached to the thread:"FAQ for the HTC Amaze 4G. Read Frequently Asked Questions before you post a question! / Q - I want to revert back to the stock ROM of the Amaze. How do I do that?" does not work.
Instead of jacking with me because you think I am not capable of finding info... why not use that energy to fully read my post and help fix the problem. I was just trying to help others that search the forum. Sorry that bothers you.
I post in other forums and help/try-to-help others. I never talk down to them. I direct them to the answers they seek. If I do not have anything worthwhile to add to their post...I just leave it alone. Everyone is new at some point... And everyone needs a hand up at some point... Help...or don't help. Anything else is wasting time. It's just that simple.
Why not use the energy u spent in writing that short story into using google?

You need to calm down and chill, the links in that thread may be broken, but there's also a reason why we have the bible thread with EVERYTHING possible included. Therefore, simply search there and you'd not have the need to worry about broken links. I'll talk to Hasoon about fixing the links, my point being, your rant wasn't needed since it's pretty obvious now for someone that's been around the block to not know the basics of finding things around here.

You're not a n00b, can we let this go please? Some people get frustrated seeing the same thing being posted again and again, that's why most users will post a rude response, though I wouldn't say GG was rude, it didn't even seem to be directed at anyone in specific, anyways, my point is, the bible thread was created to lessen questions being asked and also simplify the doing of everything that's currently possible on this device, so you can't really be mad at anyone responding in a blank manner either. But on the other hand, just let it go, try to read around, if you find a broken link or so, post it in the relevant thread and if you think the OP is a nice enough individual to accept a PM, then shoot them a PM and sort it out that way, no need to get hostile, okay? Great, so take relax and have fun, this place is a pretty quiet easy going group, join in the fun and just don't take things personal.

I've seen mixed feelings about the switch, in my group, some prefer their nexus, some sold theirs, some kept both, which half of them used the nexus more, so it's bit of an iffy situation, to be honest, I love my nexus, this one is better than the first one I got, so I just may stick to it, though if given the opportunity to swap, I will try out the s3 knowing I could always swap it back since someone will want one.

On my s2 I'm not worried about warranty the phones over a year old and my back up until the s4 is released.
Brandon your reply is "invalid" and completely uncalled for.

Maybe you shouldn't assume by somebody's sig Brandon.
I apologized to Red for my smart ass comment.
I spend a lot of time in XDA reading and researching and yes I posted in the wrong forum.
That, however, doesn't make me a noob.
I on the other hand try to help others when they run into problems instead of flaming them but that's just me.

You've been reported. This is uncalled for and childish behavior. Take it to pm if u must use Internet forums to act tough.

Thank you for apologizing. Your first post was strange since it had no body. Only your signature. In the future, please ensure to correctly state your issue. That will help you get less smart ass responses.

No excuse for my original post Red but I was recovering from a three day migraine. I guess that's why I wasn't clearer in what I was asking.

I use xda on at least three different devices. Soon to be four after Thursday's announcement.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
I've used XDA on three also and soon to be four as soon as the S4 is out.
The S2 though is quite a different phone to set up.
As I said a friend rooted and installed shostock for me the first time around and I borked it because I didn't know about the problems with Rom. Manager.
That was before I became a member here. I've soft bricked it several times since but thru trail and error and much reading these forums I've learned how to reinstall the stock firmware.
As I said it's my back up phone and I'm setting it up for my son to use.
I've rooted it using oneclick and when he gets his butt home I'm going to install odin mobile lite.
Thanks again for your understanding, help and excepting my apology Red I appreciate it a bunch.
On the S3 threads I do my best to help people out however I can because I know that sinking feeling when you think you've screwed your very expensive phone.

[Q] Did I soft brick my AT&T Galaxy S2?

Last weekend I installed the JellyBAM ROM v7.6.2. Today, I decided to try overclocking. Following the galaxys2root guide, I downloaded and flashed the Zedomax OC Kernel using CWM Recovery. It was all going smoothly untill the reboot. It's stuck on the main boot screen with "Samsung Galaxy S-II," but nothing comes after, no matter how long I wait. If anybody has advise for me please tell me. Thanks a lot.
Do make sure yours is i777 and not i9100 first.
I know what version I'm running haha, I'm not that stupid. I fixed it by running cwm recovery and reinstalling the ROM from a folder i made in the external SD. The kernel deleted the original JellyBAM system files... it was a real sticky situation... As you can see in the signature It is fixed... Thanks anyways

Oh wow you literally did every possible thing wrong here. You used galaxys2root AND jellybam. Both off which are not supported around here.

I'm glad it works out. Bravo.
Also, I think you get the wrong idea of what Nick has said.
I have to agree with him and I strongly suggest us not to use Zedomax kernel and stay away from galaxys2root.com.

It's also not cool when people use stuff from other sites and then want people on xda to help fix their problems, meanwhile a quick search almost always lands good results.

I do know the responsibility in making this account and the rules that follow... galaxys2root didn't have the answer so I was hoping that the people on xda could help. I understand now they are not affiliated now but what I did not know was that JellyBAM wasn't either. I asked a question that solved itself, and I apologise for offending, annoying, and or breaking some rules. I needed help because I thought my phone was ruined, and I normally dont trust other sites. Everyone here knows what they are doing. By the way, I'm going to stop using galaxys2root... its unreliable... (to me)
I respect that. Nice to see you've stopped using that site, good luck and have fun flashing .

+1 on the unreliable. Xda is where it's at. I've learned a lot here just reading and reading, specially when taking a dump and I can it's pretty awesome. There are a lot of sites out there but xda is the best imo
