I'm new to the AT&T Galaxy Note but not to Android in general. I got accustomed to wiping system, data, cache, and dalvik cache when flashing a new custom rom. I installed Clockwork Recovery Mod on the Note and wiped the directories and tried flashing the CM 10.1 rom from their website. The install failed and now the phone won't boot. I can't seem to get back into recovery mode either. The phone just vibrates and then goes back to the glowing Samsung logo. Help please? I'm not sure if installing clockworkmod roots the phone. I never got to install any root zip or anything just the recovery. Thanks.

Cwm does not root. Most recommend twrp now and is it most recent?
I have a hard time trusting d/L's from another site. Too easy to get wrong device.
You have something so I don't think your dead.
Do you have download mode?
You didn't say whether flashed via Odin? Put starter ROM in that way.

Hi,
I just bought an AT&T SGS2. I began by rooting it, flashing cwm and trying to flash MIUI. But the phone would not boot up. So I downloaded ODIN one click back to stock and flashed that, but the phone still does not boot past the AT&T screen. I've tried flashing different roms from cwm none of which boot up.
Please point me in the right direction to get the phone to boot.
Thanks
Can you get into cwm? Id bet you didn't wipe before you flashed

+1 this.
boot into cwm>factory wipe data/factory>delete cache partition>delete dalvik cache> install zip from sdcard>pick your ROM...
Thanks guys wiping the all the caches did the trick. I didn't know it was a requirement for this phone. I came from a Captivate where is wasn't required to wipe everything.

He doesn't have CWM if he used the one-click back to stock, unless it failed and didn't flash a kernel. Stock kernel has 3e recovery.

Even on the Captivate, you had to wipe whenever flashing a new ROM. Returning to stock is, effectively, flashing a new ROM (the stock one).
My samsung galaxy s 2 i9100 is stuck on the boot logo after I tried to install the note 2's multi-window feature. I figured out later that my rom was not compatible with it.
I am able to get into download mode and recovery mode but whenever I try to flash a new rom or reboot it just reboots for a while and then freezes..... I have been trying to fix it all day with no luck at all.. Please please help.
Btw my phone was running the 'revolt jb' rom.
You need to "Wipe data/factory reset" in cwm recovery. Then if you want flash new rom.
However if you need to backup apps/appdata then make a nandroid backup and then use appextractor on new rom to restore apps from the nandroid backup.
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 stuck on boot logo
I already did a factory reset in cwm but I don't have any other roms to flash!! How can I get another rom onto my phone?? I am not concerned about saving any of my apps.

I do know the basics, I am just not able to use my phone to download any roms onto it.
Remove the sdcard and copy the ROM on it using your PC, and flash with CWM.
Or use Odin.

Hi, all!
I have that annoying problem with all the 4.3 ROM I've tried with no exception. Everything is fine until the first reboot. Then it's stuck on the first Galaxy SIII boot logo. I'm using TWRP - the latest version if it matters.
I always wipe everything first.
Please give more details on how you flash it.

If you did all required wipes and followed the instructions did you try a different recovery? I read in the SB thread for example of people having issues with TWRP

I am sorry for the wrong section. May I ask some to move it to Q&A?
I always wipe data, cash, dalvik cash, system. Then install the ROM and gapps...
After the restart I set up the google account and etc. And after the first restart the phone freezes. That's all.
I'll try with different recovery.
PS. I've just tried CWM recovery 6.0.3.3. and Omega AOSP v9. Still the same.
Try cwm 6.0.3.6 and after you install the rom and after its set up go to recovery and factory reset

That's strange, I run Philz recovery and every 4.3 flash till now went through without issue.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I tried all the recoveries I could find. Including Philz. Still the same.
And something else strange. I installed CWM, CWM, touch and Philz and with them I made backups. After restoration of the backup the phone freezes. I also tried to install Omega 49 and the installation goes OK, but freezes before the first start-up.
The only solution was to install manually TWRP (Odin) to restore some of my old backups. I'm beginning to think that there is something wrong with my phone. It's black if it is important.
Suggest total wipe of phone install your stock rom and test
Hi,
I just want to say I'm also having the same problem.
Started using TWRP with full wipe, same issue on 4.3 and no issues on 4.2.
On latest CWM same problem and 4.2 wont even pass the first boot on Samsung logo.
Also had to use Odin to get back on TWRP and flash a 4.2 rom again.
Anyway there is one more thing I would like to try but haven't had the chance to do so, is installing the latest modem and ril. But I'm kind skeptic about that currently because there is also some risks and my S3 is my daily driver.
Don't change the ril on any custom as you stand a big chance of breaking the calls and Tex's. Modem yes but not ril. Do change to cwm and retry.

Thanks for the info, I was planning to read more about it before I would make an attempt. BTW already tried CWM that only made things worse, couldn't flash any rom without getting stuck on samsung screen.

You are doing a full wipe?. System and data is the main thing to wipe not just factory reset. So go into mounts and storage and format data, system and cache there then flash the rom /gapps.

yes tried that, also used the mega wipe zip thing
Start fresh and flash stock with Odin then try again after you root and install cwm.

Thank you!
But nothing helped. I flashed a stock ROM, with Odin. First I tried with TWRP, and the second time (again after flashing stock) with CWM recovery. I tried two 4.3 ROMs. They both can't boot after the first reboot.

Hi, I think I did the following steps to get it working on my device.
1. Flash stock with odin
2. Hard reset
3. Boot up and finish first run menus
4. Flash twrp with odin
5. Format data with twrp
6. Flash 4.3 rom
Hi, i followed this tutorial to root, and wanted to flash this rom.. So i wiped data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, format /system.. and now when i reboot, i'm stuck on the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 boot.. did i bricked my device? I want to flash the rom but i cant get my pc to recognize my device as i have not get past the boot screen :crying: so i cant put the rom in the device and flash the rom from clockwork recovery..... :crying:
Of course its stuck. You wiped everything but did not flash the ROM. *facepalm* Either find a way to sideload the ROM to your tab through adb or reflash to stock using Odin.

Hello guys, so previously I was on nameless rom 4.4, and i wanted to change my recovery from cwm recovery to twrp recovery. So I used this app from the playstore to do it TWRP Manager app. Anyways this app seemed pretty buggy to me, and it was requesting me to install busybox, so i just followed the instructions. Anyways, after it had finished installing twrp, I wanted to test it out. So, when i tried to reboot in recovery, the phone is now stuck on the samsung logo. Cant even boot normally. What should i do now?

Try and reboot into recovery holding up power and home keys then wait galaxy s3 to be displayed then the phone should boot into recovery. From there do a wipe data factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. I would recommended using the latest Clockworkmod recovery as it seems reliable. You can install it using Rom Manager from Play Store, as long as you have root follow the necessary instructions to flash the recovery.

You may need to flash back to stock using Odin then re rooting again.
so i should flash the latest stock rom (4.3) for my region using odin? like this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/restore-to-stock-rom-galaxy-s3-i9300-t2187081
fixed using odin, though rather sad that my internal sd got wiped as well

Glad it's fixed I would recommend not to use apps from playstore to flash recoveries or roms seen nothing but trouble from them.Either use Odin or custom recovery to flash to avoid trouble in the future.
