Hello All.
Firstly I'm a complete Noob. I am a beginner at all this tweaking and installing new Roms which is why I am here in the first place.
I was able to root my device correctly .. The issue started when I tried to install CWR by odin.. got into a starter loop or logo loop?
I then used my google fu to try and rectify the problem and ended up bricking it. But It can go into the down load mode.
If you of you Gurus decide to help me would you kindly go through it step by step .
I would appreciate all or any assistance.
Not a a guru but have flashed that phone a few times. My i9000 has a corrupt internal SD and despite my best efforts have not managed to kill it
If you can get into recovery you can probably get into download mode (volume down + home + power). Use ODIN to reflash with a froyo rom and then have another go at installing Clockwork Mod Recovery and updating. Always worked for me
Googling i9000 froyo recovery gives you and xda page as a first result
Restore Samsung Galaxy S I9000 firmware/stock ROM (Froyo 2.2.1)
You can download everything you need from there

Ok, before anyone asks I have checked other threads and posted my problem. However to no avail, as no one has replied.
So, strait to the problem... I recently decided to install an ICS theme for my SG2, i was having problems trying to get into CWM and once I was in (after about 2 hours of googling) I followed the necessary steps to install the Theme.
Once the phone began to re-boot it started the boot loop on the ICS boot screen, so I began searching XDA forums for a solution. The most common was to wipe data and user files then flash an original rom using Odin. I tried this and the phone simply boot looped on the Original SG2 boot animation. I also tried leaving it on the boot loop for up to 10 minutes but nothing happened.
Help ASAP would be awesome thanks in advance,
Sam.
You should always take a backup of your rom before flashing themes and other stuff in case something goes wrong but if u didn't take it. go to cwm and in there, go to advanced, from there mount usb
And put another rom on your sd card and flash it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks for the post, I am new to rooting/ flashing etc, and realised i should have backed up my rom.
I cant seem to get into CWM because when I hold... vol up + Home + Power, I only get put into the Android recovery, not CWM. :/
Is there another way to get into CWM??
Also I might have backed it up, if I did where would it be in the files?

If you can't come into CWM, try to flash with Odin some rom which will give you a root. Lighting rom is one of them for example - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
Then you should be able to get into CWM and flash other roms you want.
1. Boot into download mode.
2. Flash CF-Root, it does not matter which kernel you pick, just pick one.
3. You have recovery back.
ok, so I've managed to get it into CWM and I've installed Villain rom.
Problem is, it is still boot looping. :/
Any ideas?
Btw Thank you so much for the support so far.

For CWM you need to install CWM if you have then you have overwritten it somehow .
ONE the BOOT LOOP post
or BOOT LOOP

Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

THANK YOU
Thanks for all the help guys, I've got it ack to its original state and most importantly stopped the boot loop.
Thanks again,

Hi guys.
Im on coffeebeans ICS ROM on my TAB 10.1 and it worked perfectly for about two months. But suddenly when visiting a random web page the tab suddently froze. When i rebooted it it was stuck at Samsung logo and justs restarts after a while. When going into Clockwork mod i cannot get access to "install zip from sdcard" the screen is black when trying to get access to internal memory. When trying to set it back to factory settings from CWM it freezes.. Any ideas?
Kinda strange i think! Guess i have to try install a new ROM via Odin but then I need help from one of you to guide me where to start
Thanks for all help!
That's really weird. It's almost like your file system got corrupted or something.
Here's a good place to start for the recovery process

Sounds logical. Can you point me to a thread with a recovery to use? And also a guide maybe so i use Odin correct. I have used Odin, but that is a long time ago
Try search forums
Use the official recovery from CWM only, here: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager . If you are using ROM manager, just download it and flash recovery from via ROM manager. If not, use Odin. It's easy, turn tablet into download mode, start Odin, click PDA, choose the file with recovery and press start. For using Odin you will need recovery in .tar package, so here you are http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23527491/recovery.tar.md5 ...Touch recovery 5.8.3.1
Hello all,
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830i that is stuck in Android system recovery (3e) mode, and it seems there is no way to get it out of there.
- upon selecting wipe data/factory reset the device is stuck with one message "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." and "Formatting /data..." bellow
- upon selecting apply zip from the SD card the installation always fails with various error messages (I tried to install cyanogen mod rom in an attempt to recover, but failed as well)
- upon selecting reboot now the whole screen disappears with only the "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." message at the bottom of the screen and I need to remove the battery.
I will greatly appreciate if anyone on this forum could help with the issue, as I have search for possible solutions without any luck so far, and my phone appears to be bricked.
Thank you,
John
My guess is u still on stock recovery. Flashing cm rom or any other custom rom needs clockworkmod recovery, moroever theres no cm rom for s5830i yet.
For now u could try to reflash stock rom with odin. Theres a thread somewhere guiding howto do so for s5830i. Also do note that anything for original s5830 wont work on your s5830i.
Last but not least, do read more and understand what you're trying to do before u really hardbricked the poor thing.
Thanks for the pointers, I really appreciate it and everything works fine now.
It was actually my nephew's phone, so I have no idea how he managed to brick it like that.

I have the exact same problem. Except I can't even enter into download mode. Phone boots into recovery mode regardless of what buttons I press, get stuck at "formatting /data", and I can't flash anything. All the buttons seem to function as intended in the recovery menu, so it's not a hardware failure. Any ideas?

Flash stock rom thru odin then from recovery mod Clear data and cache then reboot. [emoji4]
I know this is kind of old but I have same problem, i got this phone from cousin and it wasnt booting , it was going straight into recovery, since my mother has same phone and i used odin before to save her, i am familiar with odin so, I tried new firmware flash with odin , it passed on odin but again doesn't want to finish install on the phone, it says
installing update...
--appling muti-csc --
Fromatting /cache...
-- Appling Muti-CSC __
and it wont go anywhere from there , and if I reboot it goes back in recovery again and it wont format data again, formatting cache works. I also tried to flash cm7, rooted it, installed cwm but when i do reboot it is not in cwm but in regular recovery, so after that I installed cwm again and without reboot installed cm7 kernel wich succeded , after that installing the cm7 itself stuck on "installing update" , could this be hardware issue, it always seem to be stuck when its doing something with "data". I tried couple odin flashes multi package and single package, i was carefull to chose correct firmware, only thing i could make mistake is maybe with pit and re-partition. Anyone help i would appriciate it much since i have no other phone than this.

Hi,
I tried to root (first time) my S3 using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1703488
My S3 is the international version: GT-I9300.
I followed all the steps, except for one bit. In the prompts, I could not find the exact version of my S3. The guide said to use the closest one so I did. My build is JRO03C UBDLJ1 but I used number 9 (see guide photo 2). All went well until my phone won't reboot anymore. Odin and the root application says that everything is fine, except my S3 is stuck at the boot screen (Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 with black screen). I can still get into Download or Recovery modes. How do I fix this?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Recovery factory reset .
Fails then download mode and flash stock rom via Odin .

I'll try that tomorrow since it's already past midnight here where I live. Is there any way to turn the phone off? Cos it just keeps on rebooting up everytime I close it. Or is it okay if I just leave it on the boot screen. Will the battery run out?
simple take the battery out
in cwm
Delete cache, dalvik cache and it should boot! If it refuses flash stock and it will boot normally again!
I Think You Should Check This checkrom.com/threads/resurrection-odin-checkrom-evohd™-v4.896/
Please Report If It Worked
OK I managed to get this thing back working finally. What I did was flash it back to a stock ROM. I couldn't find my original version but close enough, except this version, 4.1.1 doesn't seem to be available (but thats not a big deal).
Now I'm too scared to try root it again lol...
And thanks for all the suggestions!!!
Follow up question:
Root attempt 2 = successful
I tried to install CyanogenMod 10 (via Odin). Except the device got stuck in the CyanogenMod spinning boot screen. Restored it via backup for now. Any idea why this is happening?

I remember it takes some time for everything to load first time, maybe 5 or 10 minutes, also I think it`s better to use cwm to flash custom roms! just use odin for root and stock roms!
just move the file on the sdcard and boot in cwm,let it do his thing and then wait a bit!

Yeah tried again via CWM and everything is working fine. Thanks for the advice!
First time i rooted my phone, flashed CWM, everything was fine.. Then I flashed RazoDroid and after that phone is stuck at boot logo of ace and isn't booting forward.
I tried going to downloading and recovery mode but I am not able to access any of the two. Tried the volume+home+power button combo but nothing works!
Any suggestions for unbricking my phone or bringing it to senses???
Recovery is power + home. (correct me if i am wrong)
If you are unable to do anything there is a guide to flash stock rom.
Have a look to it.

You all newbies just create new threads before searching
XDA should make a rule about this thread making
It would be better than 10 post rule

So I will help by saying if you can not find a way to fix your installation then unbricking tutorial can be found in the stickies at the top and are easy to follow just double check every step. This will involve returning to stock firmware found here or at Samfireware.com. to get into 'download' or 'odin' mode you are best to turn phone off completely, then hold power button and BOTH volume buttons down, then when it warns you not to flash firmwares press vol up to say its ok, then your in download mode.
Once at stock again (and your happy to do it again) try to follow the tutorial again. Were you using the latest CWM version of Raef's kernel as that can only work on EXT4 file system, as standard our 'i' device is RFS file system so the E3 version is the way to go.
.....but then I have been a n00b and not looked at the RazoDroid thread to see what file system it installs on or even if it comes with a custom kernel or not. If it does not include a kernel flashing (using Odin) the latest odin version of Raef's kernel may fix it.
Links to kernels are in the dev forum where you found the rom ^^
