Stock RUU download - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can anybody link me to the link for the stock ruu, please. i looked on androidruu, but didnt know which one to download. thanks

If you want we help you find the right ruu you need to tell us some information about your phone. For example the most important what is your device name!Secontly (if you have an htc for example) we need to know your cid number to help you with your ruu choice.
If you want to find your cid and your device cannot boot into android you could get into fastboot mode (hboot) by pressing the power button and volume- button (if you have an htc phone) and you give from your computer the command fastboot getvar cid (The fastboot have to be red in your phone {hboot screen} to give that command / usually it is enabled when you plug your usb cable to your computer).Of cource you will need a fastboot.exe file to run the command through cmd.

You probably have an HTC One X+.(I found it thanks to version main you posted)
Your cid is probably US.
If you had posted your build number too it would be better.
Take a look here and see if this is the ruu you was looking for:

[Q] how to install Amon_Ra recovery 1.7.0? - Upgrading HTC Magic 32B

I am trying to upgrade my UK Vodafone HTC Magic to your Cyanogen Mod Froyo OS. It's currently running Android 1.6.
The "Upgrading from CyanogenMod 4.2 to CyanogenMod 5/6" article says:
Note: it is recommended that you upgrade to Amon_Ra recovery 1.7.0 for your device. Dream or Magic

And links to the article "[Recovery] [32A & 32B] [16-May-2010] RA-sapphire-v1.7.0".
It seems that the easiest way to install this is via Fastboot:
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your G1 into fastboot mode (boot while holding BACK)
Connect your G1 via usb to your pc/mac/...
fastboot devices (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your device)

I don't understand how to flash the recovery file. Can someone help me out?
Thanks,

The best guide I've ever received was from THIS SITE.....I'm doing that as we speak
Thanks.
According to that method I'm pretty sure I have to create a goldcard to get back to Cupcake. Which is annoying, because I don't currently have a spare SD card (as it currently errors whenever I try to flash to a new ROM). And I'm also a little worried that I might brick my phone. I was hoping I could avoid this by not needing to downgrade, by installing this Amon_RA recovery mod.
However, as it looks like I probably just have to suck it up and do the goldcard method, I'll just order one on ebay and have done with it.
Cheers.

[Q] Cannot boot, cannot enter bootloader, only fastboot

Hello everyone.
I have an HTC Hero (GSM) that:
1) Cannot boot at all, it is just showing the HERO logo
2) Cannot enter bootloader, it shows a red exclamation mark
3) Pressing trackball+back+power it can enter fastboot where it displays:
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON

FASTBOOT USB
<VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode
<MENU> Reset Device
When I connect it to the pc, it finds it as an HTC device but the "adb devices" command gives me nothing.
I am little dissapointed as whatever I have tried was pointless. And the problem is that I bought it from ebay not knowing that it does not work...
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you all in advace.
I managed to find the device in fastboot, typing fastboot devices.
But when I try to flash a new recovery I get the error "Failed (remote: not allowed)" ...
So I'm stuck... with only access to fastboot...
Perhaps You could try applying RRU, that could help i think.
BUT I'm not sure, so please research this subject
Hope You get Your hero working
brat.haneq
Thanks for your reply. I am looking into it now..
I found the solution!
Downloaded the RUU (ftp://xda:[email protected]_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe) and while in fastboot usb run the wizard!
And the hero is working again!
I have a similar issue - PLEASE HELP
Hi,
My wife's UK GSM T-Mobile G2 has also developed a similar issue where, on boot it just hangs at the G2 touch splash screen. it did have villianrom on it but it now no longer boots.
I have managed to get it into fastboot where I can talk to it via the sdk but dont really know what to do from here to get it working. I tried to get the official RUU update from HTC and apply that but just get a USB connection error after clicking the .exe. I cant run any adb commands only fastboot commands.
I cannot even access the custom recovery. I think what has happened is somehow an update to the hboot has occured OTA and the phone can no longer run unsigned code. I think this as the hboot says S-ON which from doing reading indicates that the phone cant run unsigned code. (I've also tried to flash the amon-ra custom recovery via fastboot and it fails with an signature verify fail error also indicating this.)
The wife says she received a blank email and went to delete it and thats when the problem occured Is there any way for me to flash signed code to it via fastboot USB and if so, where can I get the files from?
Really desperate as the mrs is now without her phone!
Thanks in advance

Evo3d Stock Sprint Radio Link

Im making this post because all of the posts ive searched for EVO3d stock radio have urls that are invalid, below are two examples.
Can someone please post the stock sprint evo3d raido link so i can flash my phone (and so others can have the link)
If someone sends me the file i can host it on my servers and post a link, i just need the file. This should be a 8 or so MB file correct?

You missed a thread. That has valid links.

P.S. wrong section.
nice, thanks very much. i have flashed my radio to stock, however im still having an issue with this one step:
7. Once the phone has been flashed you will need to set the secure flag on the radio for S-ON to do this use "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" Make sure you are in fastboot menu. To do this power down and hold power down while powering up and select fastboot. I have attached the fast boot and adb files to the post.
Im in the fastboot menu and i have 4 options: Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader and Power Down.
Do just stay at this screen, hook up the USB to my computer (same one i used to root the phone so all the HTC drivers and adb ect are installed).
and then run from CMD, adb.exe fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
?
im not clear on how i use ADB to input that command so i can bring the phone to the sprint store to be activated.
tks alot
EDIT: im appologize for the wrong section, i thought it would be in this section so others could see how to return to stock with a good download link. I will be more careful in the future.
I have no reason to turn S-ON but I would guess you would be issuing the fastboot command from the command line on your PC, not the phone (obviously).
You won't need S-ON to have your phone activated. You should be able to do that online or over the phone and not have to go to the store.
Tks, very long story, but i have to bring it in to the sprint store to get activated, so i have to have it back to S-on so they dont see i rooted it.
what mode do i have the phone on/at to then issue the command from CMD on windows?
should it be booted with just usb debugging turned on? or should i have it at the fast boot menu (start up phone with Power and Volume down then choose fast boot).
thanks again.
ok i think i bricked my phone..
i did this: and now the phone will not power on or anything:
C:\adb>fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
...
OKAY [ 0.045s]
finished. total time: 0.048s
C:\adb>

There are a couple "Return to Stock" threads in this section.
Sounds like you set that secure flag without being on an official bootloader?
I was wondering what you meant by "stock radio" as all the radios are from official releases.
You should have been looking for the stock RUU, not radio.
With your phone connected:
Code:
adb devices
or
fastboot devices
and see if you devices number pops up.
Download this, connect your phone, and see if you can run it:
http://www.multiupload.com/WQ82JTN7JL
If you can boot into the bootloader at all, follow this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194053
***If you can't get either to work, tell the Sprint reps that you got an OTA notification on your phone, you agreed to the install, and that's how your phone ended up in its current state. Take the SDcard out so they don't see any Roms/kernels/rooted app folders, etc.
See if i can run it? it being the link you provided:
http://www.multiupload.com/WQ82JTN7JL
that is a link to a 300mb ROM file? how do i run that? (maybe you gave wrong link)
I cant turn on the phone or do anything, its black screen.
i just dont see how i bricked this, i tried everything, had 2 threads going, ppl walkingi me through it and it still gets bricked.
Can someone please show me a thread where it shows how to return to stock and unroot so you can simply return your phone to sprint? I used the two main ones (which neither is very clear or gives good steps) and i ended up having to ask questions and open threads and with a bricked evo3d.
I ask this bc i know if i would have posted a thread, How do i unroot and return my phone to stock, ppl would have been bashing and saying use search and so forth. maybe im missing a link?
thanks

HTC One Max International Version - Red Exclamation and Reboot

So I was on my way to unlocking my boot loader and rooting the phone when i ran into this issue. (i am on AT&T)
The phone is stuck on a Red Exclamation Point and then it reboots to a white HTC screen every minute or two.
Where I was at in the process my bootloader was "unlocked", "tampered" displayed. I had even backed up with TWRP. The thing was I couldnt get the USB Debugging turned on. I turned it on before I started the process and was having trouble finishing with superuser and rooting the device. I had been trying forever to setup the S-OFF Feature to NO AVAIL.
Once I unlocked on HTCdev and then setup TWRP I just could never get the phone back to normal.
Once again this is the INT'L Version of the HTC ONE MAX and I just don't know where to turn next.
Please help. I am without phone and just purchased yesterday.
TIA - Mark
Well what you need is an ruu (rom utility updater) which is an updater program officially from htc. but I can't seem to find it for you, perhaps because it's not even made yet..
I'm affraid it's gonna have to go back to the store, are you able to acces to bootloader? if not, then don't worry about it being unlocked, they'll never notice. They're going to reset it for you or give you a replacement.

heres my question how do i know what RUU to search for? how do i figure out which version i need based on my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
Well you say you have the international version? but you got it from at&t so it's carrier branded right?
but first things first, you have to be able to access the bootloader to start the ruu. So can you access it?
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
Then it will tell you the CID. this code is needed when receiving updates from your carrier.
You will need to find the ruu for your CID, any other ruu won't work.
If you find an international ruu for your phone, you can use that one, but you have to have SuperCID.
You can get superCID after you s-off..
If you have SuperCID you can flash any ruu for your device, be careful though, I bricked my htc one s with a wrong ruu.
Goodluck!
the phone is not sold by ATT but is GSM
i cannot access boot loader.
I cant get past the RED EXCLAMATION (so am I bricked?)
this is the phone...
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-One-Max-F...92559809&sr=8-3&keywords=htc+one+max+unlocked
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
also i did find the TRWP backup if that matters or helps....
i tried both commands and it says fastboot is notrecognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file.
Well if you cannot access the bootloader, then you can't use fastboot commands..
Can you tell me what button pressing combinations you have used to enter bootloader?
Can you try to power the phone off completely and then just hold volume down?
The twrp backup can come in handy when your phone gets a working recovery, don't delete that
when i hold down the vol down...it just stays on RED EXCLAMATION....and when I try and enter bootloader mode with vol it just gives me the reset to the White HTC screen and back to the RED EXCL
i have not been able to power down completely

I'm pretty clueless here, If i were you i would keep trying to get in the bootloader. I have had a similar soft brick on my htc one and after half an hour of pressing every key combination it ended up in the bootloader. If that doesn't work I would let it get replaced on warranty
Okay so now I need some HELP.
I took out the SD Card and the SIM Card and the Bootloader screen comes up.
My choices are FASTBOOT, RECOVERY FACTORY RESET, SIM LOCK etc.
What do I do. I feel like I got one chance at this!
And here is my boot loader
my last question....how do i enable the USB Debugging. It shows as being OFF.
Can i do through boot loader or through the CMD Prompt..?

okey here's what you do, you don't have to have usb debugging enabled. that's only for adb purposes. You need to try and access the twrp recovery from the bootloader. If it doesn't work. try and look for the boot.img file of a twrp recovery for your device and flash that through fastboot

FIXED HTC U11☆Corrupt☆Relocked☆S-ON☆

Hi everyone I run my own phone repair shop i had a Customer bring a HTC u11 2PZC1000 in to repair was soft bricked with an attempted custom rom installation, then re lock of bootloader without flashing a system to it
The os version was still there however when the device booted a message appeared the device is corrupt cannot be trusted and will not boot,
Devixe specs were,
Fastboot oem readmid
2PZC10000
Fastboot oem readcid
htc_039
hTc download mode
***relocked***
***production***
htc_ocnuhl PVT S-ON
LK-1.0.0.0000
Radio-8998-002772TOV-1712061121
OpenDSP-V11.6.00347.CB8998_0711
OS-2.33.710.9
Dec 8 2017,21:29:54 (1002308)
Bootloader displayed killswitch enabled on the 3 options when trying to unlock with provided original unlock_code.bin that was provided on with the phone & returns not allowed on production build in bootloader, could not flash any stock recoveries or TWRP back to the device,
I used htc_fastboot with the htc_fastboot command syntax, then used minimal adb and fastboot 1.7msi & also power shell im using windows 8.1 couldn't get anything to flash to the customers phone i downloaded the OTA's & firmware from the google spreadsheet it had no file for the 2.33.710.9 section there the page it went to was 404 so I just downloaded all of the files with the same CID htc_039 in this case but still to no avail, one day however I stumbled upon the fix,
What i found that actually worked to repair the device was,
#1 went through the files in spreadsheet then downloaded all with the same CID as mine even though the main versions were different,
#2 tried to flash them all to see what was a signed or close to signed zip and what was garbage that needed to be deleted, (you will know by the RUU errors you face anything but RUU security fail zip from USB command ) means it probably won't work but try anyway,
narrowed it down to a few but the one that did end up working was main version 1.11.710.5, but this main Verision was 2.33.710.9 ??? Dont ask me how it worked twice as it needed to be flushed first time it said but it did,
#4 now to the only tool that works and I had already had it on my PC believe it or not but its the HTC 10 batch tool which can be found amongst where the Google spreadsheet Info is found,
#5 all I did was placed the .zip into the "com" folder which is located where ever the batch tool is installed in my case was C://Android/com,
#6 opened the batch tool selected option 3 to open fastboot terminal with the purple screen,(when entered location of the terminal should be "example" C://android/com on the screen) this is where you place your RUU.zip file.
#7 booted to download mode, plugged the device into the computer made sure drivers were installed properly and working.
#8 type into the terminal "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
phone will reboot to RUU mode.
#9 type into terminal "fastboot flash zip <file_name.zip>
it flashed all 28 zips twice as it needed to be flushed the first time, so there you go this helped me and now I hope it can help you all out with your broken U11 fix.
Enjoy
☆NOTE☆
when using the HTC 10 batch tool fastboot terminal you can use either standard "fastboot" syntax or the "htc_fastboot" syntax both work do not add " " or < > into the command syntax simply drag and drop the file if you do not wish to type the entire filename out.
☆Standard syntax☆
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip "<example.zip>"
☆htc_fastboot syntax☆
htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip "<example.zip>"
☆☆☆EDIT☆☆☆ so it definitely works 100% I've been doing it again and again and again just to be sure,
However what I have noticed is that in download mode OS VERSION is 2.33.710.9 still,
But in the OS system settings in about phone & also HTC sync manager the OS VERSION is 1.03.710.7,
BUT it can also receive and install updates up until 1.28.xxx.x before it will not install any higher updates,
So may be best to unlock the bootloader & flash a newer RUU version to your device to OTA update.
Very strange indeed but just thought I'd better add it.
Thanks
