This appears to be affect multiple brands and models. About a 3-4 days ago it started deleting previous sentences or phrases and only leaving the most recent phrase you spoke minus the last word. Long delays as well. As mentioned, it is affecting multiple phones based on other comments throughout internet. Very frustrating!
Anyone have any thoughts, comments, fixes? Initially I thought it was related to the recent Maps update, but rolled back to older version and no change. Not sure about the recent change for Google Voice to Hangouts, but that seems like a possibility . . . .
I use this feature everyday multiple times so it is VERY frustrating and it is not getting any attention from Google on their support page. Any suggestions??
No one has this issue nor has anything to say about it??
Erasing text after a pause
My LG started doing the same thing a week ago. I have seen numerous threads on other sites that all say that their phone is also erasing text after a pause... no one has a reason or an answer as to why.

A family member has an android phone, and bad signal where they live, so a lot of outgoing SMS messages end up failing.
To my dismay I find out, basic functionality like, continuing to retry, like my old motorola did 10 years ago, isn't included in Android!
I searched and searched for an app to correct this, but I could only find ONE and it was paid and only had a handful of reviews so I don't really want to recommend it.
Surely other people have this problem, there should be more choices, shouldn't there?
Can anyone point out some apps to get around this?
thanks
I also live in a poor signal area and suffer this problem. It's annoying having to go back to the message, click on it etc to re-send. Like you I can't believe there isn't a simple app to do this, or rather it should be built-in. I have a HTC Legend. It's my first Android, and the first phone I've ever had that doesn't re-send failed messages.
Are there any apps that let you manually resent an SMS that failed?
Edit: I found that Go SMS Pro did.
I also saw a couple that claimed to automatically resend but I can't remember the names. You should search the market again.
I've found an app that does this:
CrowdSMS
That proves it can be done, but the app is mostly useless: it doesn't replace your stock SMS app because it doesn't display or show replies. All it does it send texts, then you have to go back to your standard app to read any replies. It sucks. The amount of timewasting and frustration I've experienced because android wont do this automatically is bonkers.
Galaxy S8/Others -Resend Messages - Frustratingly..... EASY !
It's so ridiculously simple, yet so frustratingly difficult to figure out ! ! !
Instead of holding your finger on the MESSAGE that failed, hold your finger on the EXCLAMATION MARK ! ! !
Then the "Resend" option magically appears.
Pulled my hair out for several hours until figuring it out !!!

Has anyone had this issue?
I've Handcent and emjoi have worked for 2 years. Last 3 weeks, I just get this: ?=?
I tried GO SMS as well as ChompSMS and it's the same.
They can receive MINES but I cannot see theres.
Just seeing if it's an HTC thing (Rezound - Stock 2.3.4), Verizon thing or an Android thing.
Thanks in advance
same here, been working fine up until a couple weeks back. its really hit or miss as sometimes it goes through, other times, it receives the text in gaps L I K E T H I S. Reading the reviews on all the 3rd party messaging apps, it seems like everyone is having this problem
I saw that as well. But some recent reviews reporting it's still "functioning properly."
But now even if I have GO SMS, others I know w/ GO SMS can't recieve them either.
Sure hope Apple didn't "Patent" this and now blocking Android from exchanging them...
I hope someone can suggest some ideas. I've been trying for months to get the alarm notifications to work on my Verizon S3. I've spent hours and hours for month after month looking at the forums, and have not been able to fix it- I really, really would like to get this to work!
The problem is, I never get alarm reminders for either:
- time to leave/traffic alerts when I have upcoming appointments
- reminders based on location
I've tried everything I know of in the book- I need an expert to please help me get this working!!! Either I'm doing something really stupid and missing something, I have some setting(s) wrong, or Google Now is somehow broken for me. Sorry for the frustration...
I'm running a Verizon S3, with 4.2.1 and recently I rooted the phone (the notifications have not worked since before nor after the rooting- I did it for other reasons).
PLEASE HELP!!!
Please- any suggestions? I'm willing to start at the basics (in case I missed something) all the way to the complex. I really could use some advise on getting the alarms to work on Google Now notifications...
I've had the same thing happening for about 2 months now (from August 2013), and even with factory wipes and firmware flashes it hasn't come back to me. :/ It's worked once or twice but I haven't figured out if I had done anything before hand to get it back. Then afterwards it stopped working again.
Same for me yet. I've hard reset both my S3 and my Nexus 7, and not luck. Rarely do I get any notices, and if I happen to, it's not at the right time. Must be on Google's end on my account or something. Very, very disappointing, with little hope if it's not specific to the device...
Me too! Try this....

Also happening to me on my Note 3 t-mobile. I have flashed many roms. I even reverted back to stock, and did an OTA update to 4.4.2 and so forth.
The only thing that made a difference was if I sign in to Google Now using my backup Google account, then IT WORKS! So I think that Google is having problems on the back end. There is absolutely no difference between my Google accounts. Why would one work and one not work? I've been posting it all over the web and Google tech support. You should too!
Solution Found
I found a solution to the problem. After being a die-hard advocate for Android, I gave up about 6 months ago and bought an iPhone. It works wonderfully, and does everything it's supposed to, when and where it is supposed to. Reception and voice recognition are better than my S3 was too. I've given up a few things (customization, screen size, etc.), but I finally have a phone that just works. I can add apps, delete them, change settings, etc., and things don't get screwed up; and I don't have to hard reset and start over with my phone again. Plus, most of the Google apps are available on the iphone, including Google Now.
I may look at Android again when version 5.0 comes out; but even with that, if it's my account that's messed up, I doubt I will ever get it fixed...
I really liked Android, but I finally got soooo tired of having to spend so much time getting it to work...
Google now reminders not working possible solution
Okay so I purchased a phone LG G Flex unlocked from T-mobile and using on Metro PCS two weeks ago, prior to this phone I had a Note 3 and used Google Now to set remianders with no problems. When I activated my FLEX and started using google now it did not remind me, i could see the reminders on google cards but no notification and or finger with string in the notification bar to actually remind me. I was really bummed and fustrated as I depend on the reminder function alot. Not having any luck getting Google Now remainders to work I started searching for other apps simular to it, just something to remind me. But funny enough all the others application I found on the app store would do the same thing NO reminders, so I started thinking it may not actually be Google Now but something on my phone. I finally found an application called Robin that did work but gave me my reminders about 2 or three mins before or after the set time, nevertheless it was working but early or late notifications still bothered me. So i decided to turn off the automatic time zone/Network provider time and Automatic date and time/Network provided time and that did the trick for me. I started up Google Now and set like a hundred reminders to test it and they all came in on time. I dont know if the phone being unlocked and used on another network made the network time buggy but as long as I keep the automatic date and time off it works well. I dont know if this is the solution for everyone but it was for me. hope this help.
Fantastic and detailed reply- thanks!
I also switched phones, now I'm on a LG G3 (love the phone)! I seem to be getting almost all of my notifications now, but I'll try to pay a little more attention to it, and keep your suggestion in mind if I'm having any troubles. Thanks again for the information!

Can Google now show reminders while offline? I know I cant set or delete a reminder offline. But can it remind for an already set reminder offline?
Halp!
I'm losing my mind trying to figure out the issue here. SMS works fine. Hangouts will only notify of a newly received message if you open Hangouts and are on the conversations list screen (main screen). If you are in a conversation it won't even update of the newly received message until you back back to the main conversations list screen. Doesn't matter if it's on WiFi or mobile data. This is a brand new phone that I bought about a week ago and for the record I'm using the same phone I bought a month ago from the same seller on the same firmware. The only difference is that mine is rooted and I've frozen or uninstalled most all of the bloatware and VZW bullcrap. Otherwise they're identical and one has what seems like an app bug but the other one does not.
I've tried numerous things before posting here (to include lots of searches that only seem to turn up similar issues for those who updated to Lollipop) including uninstalling Hangouts updates as well as Google+ updates as per one thread I saw. Neither had any affect on the issue. I went into the user's Google account to see if any other devices were signed in currently and it doesn't appear to be the issue.
My next step is to root and see if freezing the same apps corrects but where it sits right now would make a warranty exchange through the seller a little bit easier I would imagine.
I'm not really sure what else to try short of accepting the OTA update (Lollipop) which will w/o a doubt introduce more problems than it fixes based on what I've read. Not only that but my LG G3 is functioning just fine on 4.4.2 so I see no reason why the same device shouldn't perform the same on the same firmware version. Makes no sense.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks!
For almost 3 years now, around the time I purchased my Nexus 6 in December of 2014, I've had delayed notifications. I always thought it was a Nexus 6 issue but it seems I was wrong.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Having recently purchased a Note 8, one thing I was really looking forward to was no longer having these delayed notifications. From the moment I set everything up, the issue was and is still present - even on a brand new, unmodified Note 8 purchased directly from my carrier (Telstra, Australia).
This has lead to me to look further into the issue and to finally get to the bottom of what might be causing it and hopefully, get it fixed.
From what I can tell, pretty much anything that uses Google's Cloud Messaging, which I beleive is everything from Gmail to Facebook, Google+ and many others, the notifications will be delayed. Sometimes only a few minutes, sometimes much longer.
Anything that doesn't rely on GCM works perfectly fine. For example, if I use Nine (an Exchange client app) and connect to an Exchange server, those notifications are always perfect. I'll get notified within seconds of receiving the email.
My partner, who has the exact same phone (Note 8) as well as Gmail and Facebook setup, receives notifications instantly (within seconds) and has never had the issue on previous Android devices either. So it's not a carrier issue, nor a WIFI issue, nor a phone issue. It is something directly related to my Google account.
Has anyone ever come across this issue that has been able to successfully resolve it? I've seen a couple of apps on the Play Store that apparently let you fix the issue but you need to be rooted in order for the apps to run. This is simply not an an option.
Given all testing points to something Google Account related, where would be the best place to start looking for a fix?
NOTE:
- I don't use any battery optimisation or task killer apps nor anything related. Never have.
I've come across the following information. It appears as though it may be something to do with this: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/nexus/fslYqYrULto/lU2D3Qe1mugJ
Although this looks promising, it doesn't really explain why it would affect some and not others. My partner who is using the same phone with the same carrier, connected to the same WIFI networks doesn't have the issue.

I've never had this issue before, but I've had friends that ran into issues similar to the one you've explained. I'll be sure to ask them what they did to resolve them, and get back to you when I know!

Thank you!
I haven't made much progress here however, I can confirm my carrier is actually taking the time to do some thorough research themselves and ensure there is actually nothing wrong in the background.
