Hi guy I want to update my xperia u to Ics via flashtools but am afraid that it cause my phone to bootloop (sony logo)i have this brick before I was really scare it took me 4 hour to fix it (it start install firmware normally but at the half of the install it said device connect to this computer....etc then my phone stuck at Sony logo after that I try to flash stock firmware both Ics And Gb countless of time than I succeed by flashing Gb t-mobile firmware) but now I want to flash back to Ics reason:
1.no xda premium
2.no nova launcher and another awesome mod apps
3.easy root no need to unlock bootloader
Is the problem cause by
Anti virus program
Or by window fire wall(off)
Or by pc companion(don't have in my computer)
Or by install flashtools in D not C
Or by samsung kies(my bro program but now I uninstall it)
Or by by anything else?

I think you can simply check if this problem happens in another computer.
Then tell the result here.
I haven't encountered with this type of problem.

Don't think anyone can help a lot because it doesn't seem a normal issue.
What I would say for sure is that the firewall is not the problem because it is off and even if it were on that should not affect the communication between a computer and a phone via USB cable as that is not an IP communication.
PC Companion is not needed to flash a ROM with flashtools.
You don't install flashtools anywhere. The only thing you install for flashtool are the drivers and those are installed in the place where Windows needs to install them. But the application is not installed anywhere it can be run from any place as far as I know. It should work just perfectly from a pendrive, external drive, from drive C, D, or Z, ..., or whatever other storage device. Besides if the process starts you can imply flashtool is working properly.
So the only things I could bet are:
* you have a faulty ROM file. But probably this is not the case as I suppose if you have a faulty ROM flashtools will warn about it somewhere when it reads the ROM.
* you are not using the correct ROM for your phone model (ST25i or ST25a).
* you have a faulty USB cable or USB connector that lost connection on the middle of the process.
* you had not enough battery on the phone when you started the flash proccess so the phone lost power on the middle of the process.
(if flashtools finish the flash process correctly with the message that ask you to unplug and restart phone then 3 and 4 can be discarded)
What I would do is check which phone you own ST25i or ST25a and download the stock 6.1.1.B.1.100 ROM for your model from a reliable source and if possible from somewhere that offers an MD5 checksum to be sure you get the file without errors. Download again the last version of flashtools. Be sure when you flash to have enough battery on the phone (not sure what is the recommendation but more than 60% should be safe). When you flash rest the phone somewhere where nor the phone nor the cable move the least to avoid any lost of connection on the middle of the transfer.
Or you can just install PC Companion and update to the official ROM but probably that would be 6.1.1.B.1.54 ROM that doesn't work very good on my experience.

For nandroid backup, you need to have custom recovery up and running. If you have that then, just download one of the custom Roms like void and flash it..

nandroid backups also contain contacts and messages and stuff so people will be relucant to provide you with one. You can try by flashing a basic rom that has no modifications, for example, amber rom which was the first for our phone, and then flash the sapps package from void. If you want to take the phone to warranty services then modify the build.prop to remove the name of "amber rom" and then unroot.
Sometimes phone doesnt get detected by kdz updater in emergency mode...u have to try many times.

There was a Nand backup of official rom floating around in o1 section, a few months back. May be you can search for it.
If somebody takes some pain, it can be done without any private info. A person having a Nand backup of official rom can restore it first. Then one has to do factory reset. And then finally a Nand backup of this factory reset rom.
This last Nand backup then can be uploaded and shared with others. This will not contain any private info.
I will try to do it in a day or too. If somebody else can volunteer to help, he is most welcome.

flashing is really simple and it took me just 15 minutes a few hours ago to flash .58 fw.
so here it goes.
first, you need to download .58 fw here http://depositfiles.com/files/1inil87p7
then download flashtool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309
after you downloaded both of that, install the flashtool to your computer. then put the .58 fw that you just downloaded to c:/program files/flashtool/firmwares
means that i recommend to save flashtool on c:/program files.
after you have done that. backup all needed things such as maybe your messages, contacts or maybe apk files using super backup for both messages and contacts and titanium for backing up apk.
after you done that, open flashtool, connect your devices to the computer using usb cable, then flashtool will automatically recognises your phone it will say 'connected devices: SK17'.
then click on the flash thunder icon and choose flashmod, then you will see the .58 fw that you just downloaded earlier. then i recommend you to leave wipe data and cache checked or maybe up to you. because last time i unchecked wipe data and cache i cant root my phone after so thats why i ask u to backup things. and press ok. wait like 1 minute then it will ask you to unplug usb cable, switch off your phone. while your phone switched off, hold down the volume button, plug in devices using usb cable to your computer and power on your device, then you will see flashtool will start flashing.
after flashing is done, unplug the usb cable and switch on your phone then BOOM! you are now on .58 fw. then just simply root it using doomlord zergrush method and thats it.
if you a little bit confuse just follow these steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
You can use flashtool: http://androxyde.github.com/ (PM me if you can't download).
I would suggest you to jump on FreeXperia mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226715 as it is way better than stock, and it makes your phone rooted. Hovewer, you need unlock your bootloader.

oh, benefits of unlocking bootloader is that you can use custom roms and custom kernels, you can even flash custom kernel that can root .62 im not sure check it out somewhere on android development section.
and afaik, if you unlock bootloader you will not get any official updates from se such as in the future the ice cream sandwich updates but im not completely sure

You can always relock your bootloader and update but you can't get back DRM rights...which is not a big issue...so what if track id don't work, there are better similar apps like soundhound. Also there is a method which unlocks bootloader without losing DRM but never test it

1. Unlocking bootloader will stop you from updating through SE official method. But i'm sure you can always flash the firmware using flashtool when the update is available
2. Unlocking bootloader DOES NOT do any harm as far as i'm concern(but void the warranty! If i'm not mistaken). The only way you can damage it is by using third party software/firmware.. Let say you unlock the bootloader > use custom kernel > overclock it like crazy till it melts.

Yes. Hold down the volume down button keys for mini pro.
You need to do this after you selected your chosen firmware to flash and click ok.
Then you will see a pop up telling you to unplug the USB cable, switch off phone.
Then hold down the volume down, while doing that, plug in your USB cable to your computer and switch on your phone. Don't let go of holding the volume down button yet!
Wait till you see on the flashtool start flashing then it's ok to release the volume down button and that's where the magic started.
No you don't need to unmount your sd card, it will not remove/ delete anything from your sd card except applications or games that are saved on your sd card which is not a big deal you can download it again later or make a backup of its apk.
Hope I help ya

Wait till you see on the flashtool start flashing then it's ok to release the volume down button and that's where the magic started.
No you don't need to unmount your sd card, it will not remove/ delete anything from your sd card except applications or games that are saved on your sd card which is not a big deal you can download it again later or make a backup of its apk.
Hope I help ya

TUTORIAL FOR UPDATEING P500 to GB(baseband update), ROOT THE PHONE, FLASH CWM RECOVERY
I made this tutorial because i took me 4 h of intensive searching for the methods above ,and i hate to search for this kind of things and im sure that im not the only one , with this thread i will redirect you to the topics that you will need to follow, or i will explain to you what to do.
FIRST: Install the USB drivers from http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-support download PC Sync, we need the app for the latest USB drivers, or download the USB drivers alone.
Then go in your mobile, in Settings/Applications/Development and enable USB Debugging then go back under Applications Settings make sure that you got checked Unknown Sources
NOTE: I`M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MY BUILD MAY CAUSE TO YOUR DEVICE, TRY IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
NOR ME OR OTHER DEVELOPER CAN NOT BE NAMED AS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MALFUNCTION/S THAT MAY OCCUR.And also that i dont have a P500 i have a Galaxy Mini and i build just for tass brunch
You are a noob? you dont know really where to start? ###DONT PANIC###!!!! first step is to check if you got android 2.3.3, witch is also known as Gingerbread, (how you do that? you go into Settings/About Phone and scroll down and you will see Android version.)
If you are on Android 2.2.2 or older then you must follow THIS simple tutorial, and you will update your phone to ver 2.3.3 and the baseband to so you can skip step one.
1. GB Baseband update
Now, if you got Gingerbread you must make sure that you got the latest baseband so it will work with all the custom roms that you are planing to install. Check THIS topic for that, and on the buttom you will se an image, if that basebang is identic with yours or similar, skip this step if NOT then download the P500-v20G-baseband.7z on the buttom of the page, and read to post so you will know what to do...its so easy.
TIP: Will will get 2 popups with OK and CANCEL, and the OK Button its blocked, dont press CANCEL wait 4-7 seconds before you can press the OK.

2. GB ROOT
First you must download the SuperOneClick app , extract it where you want, the run the SuperOneClick.exe from the folder, the app will open and then select ROOT , in the right, you will should see a succes message or ok in the console, reboot your phone then you will see in the menu the Super User icon.
TIP: If get you and error, then pull the battery out of the phone, disconnect the USB cable the power the phone back on and connect the cable and try again

Rom manager caused boot loop
Hi.. I installed Rom Manager onto my friends p500 (it was rooted earlier). but custom recovery was not installed..so i flashed the latest cmw through the rom manager app.
After which i selected to create a back up.. The mobile restarted (to enter the cmw recovery for backup operation).. but soon after the restart the mobile got stuck at the LG Logo.. I waited for about 10mins and it did not respond. Then i removed the battery and then power it on.. but it is stuck at the LG logo.. I am unable to get into custom recovery.. (power+home+volumeup).
Also, Mobile is not detected when connected to pc.
How to resolve this issue?? Please help

Problem Statement ::crying:
I am not able to repair my xperia mini as i used to do earlier using my PC Companion
What is that i did which caused this ? :silly:
I usually keep trying new things in my phone so, I did..
Unlocked My BOOT Loader from SE Site
rooted my mobile, Installed CM 10
was not happy with some features, so wanted to go back to stock rom
some how flashed stock rom using flash tool, re locked boot loader using sdk
What I tried to repair from PC Companion ? :fingers-crossed:
Changed laptops where PC Companion was installed
re-installed PC Companion
tried with SONY UPDATE SERVICE
So can some one Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Help me in making any fixes ( like kernel or file changes), so that pc companion recognizes as my correct software and repair it and make my software brand new....
Hmmm... maybe a suggestion. I first install the unbranded version with flashtool and with Sony Update Service I repair the phone. Usually it works.

Hey man you are not supposed to use android sdk to relock your bootloader. There is a relocking ftf which has to be flashed. First flash stock ics, then flash the relocking ftf and reflash the stock ics rom
Then you will be able to update via SEUS or PC COMPANION.

It seems your phone did not re-locked bootloader sucessful. To make sure that your phone is LOCKED after re-locked, you should press the secret series to check the bootloaded status.
Just follow this.

MAn you made a huge error by using pcc, after unlocking your bootloader , sony tells you that do not use pcc and seus or ota updates as they may harm your device, even i do not know how pcc recognized your device, and with custom roms it is even harder to solve, however please can you tell me if cm10 is smooth enough?? anyway here is the solutiuon:1)if you have cwm try flashing a custom rom if a custom rom is available on your sd card or try formating your device. 2) flash the official ics .587 by using the flashtool :http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38251 , if the drivers are not available for you to use the flashtool , go to help in the flashtool and hit drivers, and to let your device boot in flashmode ( your device should be off, a green light from your LED light should appear after booting to the flashmode) please hold the volume down button while connecting your device to the usb, to flash the ftf of .587 please click on the first button on the left and choose flashmode, then choose the ftf and flash it P.S: I am a newbie but not a noob, I helped a lot of people on sony forums and on gsmarena and other forums, if I helped you please hit thanks

Be sure that you choose the .587 not the .431 from uliwooly's links and if the flashtool shows you errors please try using the flashtool64 ( available in the flashtool folder), you have also another choice, download a new custom rom, use the flashtool in fast boot mode ( hold the volume up button while connecting to the USB connection) and flash the new custom rom , then try flashing the stock rom by flashtool if it doesn't flash it well on your current rom
