I don't quite know what you mean
I thought Stock ROM means the original ROM supplied by the device manufacturer (Sony in this case), so how can you have a non-Sony ("ANOTHER branding") stock ROM for the Xperia Tablet Z?

Hi everyone
A friend of mine owns an xperia neo and it became totally unusable since the ics update back in august. Now he finally gave in and asked me to help him to install gb firmware (or stock ics if there's any stable and smooth aosp roms) on his phone. I did a bit of research here (quite hard actually due to all the variants ...) and all what I've found needed an unlocked bootloader which is impossible for his phone. I'm not familiar with sony's phones so I don't really know if anything can be done with a locked bootloader. Any kind of help is welcome. Thanks.

Hi, lurking the forum about Xperia sola I noticed that exist this rom (experience v2) that I could install on my xperia sola ics (.54) NOT rooted and with locked BL...
So, I would some piece of information about it. I can flash this rom without unlocking the bootloader and without have rooted my ics .54?and then, if I would return to my original ICS .54 I can do it without unlocking the BL (I ask this just because my xperia sola is already in warranty and I don't wanna lose it)? Thanks in advance...
you can do it without unlocking bootloader but you need root for that and you can return to stock without unlocking

Since you will be rooting your phone and you will be able to install CWM recovery,it wouldnt hurt you to back up everything!
You will be fully covered if something goes wrong or if you decide that you prefer your stock Sony rom, with the whole phone configuration as it is right now!
Better root your phone and take a back up first!
Then, you can try ANYTHING you want!
Hey guys, i am new here but reading for last few weeks, i was ios user but now got hold of xperia P from sony and very pleased with the phone.
I read and learned how to root, cwm and flash custom rom. Learned how to check is bootloader unlockable or not.
So my Xperia says No for bootloader which means that i can do everything except flash custom kernels ??? correct me if i am wrong !?
I flashed Honami custom 4.1.2 and it works great but i want kitkat 4.4, but as far as i see, its available only with custom kernel (which i cant flash !?).
So tell me could i expect in near future kitkat for stock kernel or do i sell this phone which i se great by the way ??!?!
Thx, and apologiez if there is similiar thread or wrong subforum. No hate please
Dejan
Nope.. You can't have custom kitkat on you phone with locked boatloader because it uses custom kernel...so, You can only flash roms that are based on stock rom...!
But there are some people claiming that they managed to unlock their bootloader despite it says no.. So, You could check those threads... But I don't recommend that as it could harm your phone..

What is the worse thing that could happen, i already had soft-brick and i fixed with pccomapnion software, could it be unrepairable ?
Actually I don't know... But it could get hard brick because you are doing what your phone is not capable of.. so... It's up to you to decide whether try it or not...

yes but Sources have leaked so won't it be possible to have a stock rom on Kitkat ?
or even use a newer phone kitkat on our XP like XPZ1 ?
I don't think we can run any custom kernel on locked boatloader..! That's why we cannot run kitkat on our phone with locked boatloader.. But I am just sharing my own view.. Because I really don't know if it is possible!

Hi All,
May I know how can I restore my Z Ultra 6833 to Stock ROM (HK) from custom rom?
Many Thanks!
hang
Do you want to relocate the bootloader?
Either way you will just have to flash a FTF for your model. More steps if you want to lock the bootloader.

I don't need to lock the bootloader, flash it into factory Rom is fine.
Then just grab the FTF you want and the latest flashtool

May I know where can I download the Factory KitKat Rom for HK Z Ultra 6833?
Many Thanks!
Instead of typing out "Where can I find....." why not just take the 2 mins and look for it?
Took me less than 2 mins to find the thread with all of the stock ftf files.
Many welcomes

IS there a way to install the cyanogenmod onto my Sony Xperia Z2 with a locked bootloader? The phone is rooted and has TeamWinRecovery but I just wanted to know if there is a way to put cyanogenmod on it since it is an unlockable bootloader... Thanks for your help
No.
Unless someone can figure out sonys FBI lvl encryption and crack the bootloader we wont have anything but stock on a locked bootloader
Ya I've seen that a few times online but you can put custom roms on an xperia z2 with a locked bootloader because I have had existenz ultimate on my phone with the bootloader locked.

There is a difference between stock based custom and custom
Custom roms arent based on the stock rom hence they need a custom kernel to run and you cant flash a custom kernel on a locked bootloader
Stock based roms you can flash becsuse they use the stock kernel
Simple as.
Oh ok I see what your saying thanks for the info. Appreciate it.
