Im not familiar with "rom toolbox", but all font changers work the same, by renaming a font to be the name of the default font, so in theory it should work.
I just use this though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.font.installer
But I am on AOSP anyway
To anyone who is trying to change it with rom toolbox or this tool (it actually is an part extracted from the toolbox). DON´T! On AOSP it works but it will shredder your Sammy system .
Lucky enough i had a backup!
If you're on stock ROM, why didn't just changed the font on settings?
I dont really like the preinstalled ones and if i install another one from store it always says : font not available.. even though its already instaled

it is only partially true: i already changed my fonts many times with rom toolbox on sammy roms. and it worked everytime except for one time when it bricked my rom. The same was it on my old sammy phone. the first time it worked the second time... well I guess you know the answer (and that taught me the lesson: always have a working backup before doing any changes on a rom)
so I can confirm it can work, but there is a chance that it bricks your phone. so maybe on the second try it works.

Just wondering what you guys think about ROM Toolbox Pro? Is it worth the $4.99? I currently use 4EXT Recovery & ROM Manager sometimes. How does ROM Toolbox compare to those?

Rom Toolbox Pro is MUST have app for all rooted users. Its collection of so many apps (file manager, rom manager, app backup, cpu clock, ect) in to single finial app at the cost of 1/10th the price.
Yes, what alnbrwn62 said is correct.. I've been ****s with this app since jrummy made it. I ****s with him.. he makes some Godly ****. Definately worth the money bro

Hmmm well do it manually then. First make sure its downloaded (select and hold) and then via File Manager go to "/SDCard/RomToolbox/boot_animations" you will find the *.zip file located there. What you do now is go in to "/system/media" and replace the current bootanimation.zip with new one.

ur rom may not support the boot animation.... u have 2 find the right 1 that is deodexed fully... i finally found rom which supports it... urban regeneration 1.1.1 i believe.. awesome rom, very clean and cool.

Yea you are correct! the rom i was using at the time was a stripped down stock mod, and nothing i was doing was working.. Then i switched back to 'Creamed Glacier' and Rom Toolbox worked perfectly.
Thanks for the input and helpful comments errbody. High recommend this app

So I am on the Typhoon ROM on my HD2 and searched all over XDA but couldn't find any EMOTICON or SMILEY pack for the Android devices.
Isn't there any method to flash and replace the emoticons using a zip file. To my surprise I found no dedicated thread which details something like this.
I want the old school style yellow emoticons..just wanna get rid of the default ones. Someone please guide me.

Pretty much. It's worth having a look in your framework app(s) and SystemUI.apk as well. All you need to do is replace the PNG files with ones by the same name.
I found some very nice emoticons over on deviantart and they look so much better.

Sorry if this is a bit late, but if you're still looking for a solution, perhaps this might help (assuming you're rooted):

I don't remember if it was on ICS, but I used the ADB method to change mine to emotes my friend drew for me.
I did this a while ago, so I apologize if it doesn't work as of now.

You also need to change /system/app/Mms.apk (at least on my 4.1.2 android ROM). It included also 21 emoticons in the Mms.apk, not 17 like in the systemframework).
I also noticed that on my ROM (LG Optimus Speed device), the hdpi icons are 33x33 px, and in the provided .rar they are 24x24

Hi. I've searched everywhere for the answer to this question, but so far I haven't found it. Ok, I'm on SE xperia x10 mini pro running MiniCM7 on nAa-kernel. Works like a charm. But the stock firmware had 27 smileys, now I have 17 and therefore, when I use standard input in mms.apk, I can add the original ones to the text, but they will not all show up like smileys, but some just as plain text or characters, for instead the heart is just <3. I have extraxted the original ones and added them to both framework-res and mms, but that only changes the ones I could allready see, but it doesn't add the others. I've tried to install the stock 2.1 mms.apk, with same resaults and also change the custom mms (2.3) with the stock in the rom and then upgrading, but that just made it reboot over and over again. So anyone have any solution or ideas to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

Hi.
This usually can be done by completely hacking the MMS.apk for your Rom. I once did it for my CM10.1 too, but it is a bit tedious.
You need to find the res/xml file that stores the layout for the smileylist, and add new ones there.
You can build and reinstall apk's with Virtuos ten studio easily, if you have adb/usb drivers installed and your phone connected to your pc
Hi I'm wondering how you change the font on the entire phone.Any possible help.

Thanks for your quick response. Question arose in my mind is, how do i know my font is changed and also, how do i change my system font (like System date, default system fonts when we open settings and find options like wireless and networks, call settings, display and so on...and other things which is reflecting in old font format) using this new font installer....I have already rooted my phone thru superoneclick software.
Can you please tell how to reflash my ROM. I have not installed any Custom ROMs in my handset.
Thanks
Devaraj
To flash a new rom,
1. Download the rom file in.kdz format.
2. Download the kdz software by which you can flash your rom.
AS you are new to flagging rom, this is the easiest way you can go.
If you think the information is helpful to you, don't forget to click thanks.

The font changing is system wide. To really be aware of that, install for testing purposes a more unique font with odd characters and look for yourself that it has changed absolutely everywhere (contacts, phone, settings, messaging, browsers). After that you can install whatever font you want and know that it has already changed everywhere.

You are wrong at this point.
Kdz is only used for changing the default roms(or official roms).
If you want custom roms (modified rom based on official roms) then you must have recovery to flash them.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Or you install recovery or oficial by the means you want or you just try more fonts because you use stock rom and not all fonts look good on stock but im sure there will be more than one that fits and that you will..
Now you advise a new user to fash a kdz just for have font back lol you are crazy

Just root phone instal rom manager from market install a recovery for p500 from rom manager app then i get you a zip of a oficial stock rom to flash by recovery or you flash one from forum but if you want flash the .kdz be my guest but then dont cry if you brick your phone.
Someone please tell him wich recovery is stable because i don use clockwork just instal a 5.x.x.x not a 6.x.x.x that is unstable.

I've never had luck getting fonts changed on ICS and now Jellybean for this device. Every time I attempt I bootloop and give up. Granted I'm only using the ROM Toolbox method as of now, but other program methods changed nothing as far as I could tell.
Is there a process that I'm missing? Attached is a zip containing the orgininal font and the modified version (to remove the [][][] boxes that were popping up)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as this font is gorgeous on smaller screens!
Try font changer in the play store. I havent used it with ICS or Jelly Bean. But I used it on Gingerbread and it worked perfectly.

I guess I forgot to add, I used both that program and ROM Toolbox on Gingerbread (CM7) and it worked wonderfully. I didnt know if there was something else thats different about the install process. Or maybe due to the Alpha nature I shouldnt get my hopes up?
For the love of God, Mother Mary and all the saint's of the church, never use ROM Manager.......ever. That's like the golden rule. (for the X2, that is)
Well if font changer doesnt work, I dont know what else to say. Thats the only method I have used but like I said, I havent tried it on ICS or JB. ICS and JB might have a different method for fonts which may cause Rom Toolbox and font changer not to work. Do some google searches. I found this that might work for you. I would backup your rom before trying though.

For the Droid X2, either ROM Toolbox or ROM manager isnt recommended. These two apps can make changes to the ROM that our device doesnt support. Like stuff that requires an unlocked bootloader, which our device doesnt have. People have said that changing fonts or a boot animation will work fine but anything other than that, it can potentially cause big problems. So bottom line, be careful with what you do with it.

I was pointing out that Rom Manager is in no way the same thing as Rom Toolbox. The former deals with rom downloads, mods and recovery installation, whereas the other is a collection of root tools. Toolbox is just a hub for the multitude of JRummy apps. I've only used it to have a one-stop for adblocking, root browser and animation/theme changing. Those 3 tasks work perfectly in CM9/10.
I will just try manually switching out the fonts to see if that changes anything. I was looking to see if there were other X2 users who were successful in performing this task within a CM9/10 environment. I'll assume no one has for now.
Well I havent seen anyone else ask about changing fonts in ICS or JB. I wouldnt know how to do it if the other two methods dont work. Again, I would search around for a Universal method rather than one specifically for the DX2. I think the usual methods not working are more due to the change of the way ICS and JB handle things than our ROM not being complete though.

Well, if you are trying to say that you cannot change your brightness on custom ROMS and can change it on Stock ROM, then, it may be a bug on the custom ROMS. Almost all custom ROMS are made on the same base ROM which developers modify according to their needs and needs of the people. So maybe that's a permanent bug and will take some time to get fixed. No worry, you can always use the stock ROM. It's not so bad.

Is randomly, sometimes I tried again roms already downloaded, and happens without installing apps (fresh installation). Its rare, but is not a important thing for me, I only asks if happens to someone else. I don't know if is the UI or is the rom, the same UI works fine in stock, flashed at CWM (custom kernel in stock). Btw, any ideas?
Don't know what is exactly causing this bug.
I would advise you to do a complete fresh reinstall of the whole ROM

Since you say that it appears randomly. Maybe the censor was not working. Then it is a hardware issue.

EDIT: I can change brightness in the slider controller with this bug, also shows the current brightness (is hard to see), so is not hardware issue, is only visual
