I didn't face any SOD issue, I update via PC Companion and I didn't root yet, I read gfan China forum, people mention the current root method seems got some issue.
Base on my previous root - vroot (I fail in 360 root) - I dislike it do apps startup optimization in background, I try to close all, then the phone behavior weird where FC here and there, like YouTube and Stamina Mode. When I on back all, it behave ok. I hope something better root out soon, I don't like extra background process.
Sample 14.1.B.1.510 Firmware Camera Shoot - all using Superior Auto.

@Andrewtst Nice one!
I assume your root (got by Vroot) was able to keep after this update, right?
And what do you mean by this below?

Make sure you did a clean phone repair, all weird issue prompt will gone.
Also don't root, a lot complain got issue all due to root, and probably the FTF file got problem during create.
I update mine via PC Companion, then repair my phone completely as previously got Sound Enhancement Force Close issue. After repair, now I don't find single issue on it.

Hello all friends many users here keep asking about latest features updated in new firmware & android version 2.3.4, so i list some of features & tweaks i able to identify by using this firmware for last 3-4 days..
rest you all can also add some if im missing something...
Features In Android Version 2.3.4 Update in our Xperia MIni Pro:
1. New Folder Type With 4 icons of inserted applications.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Music Player Widget is now revamped, instead of same white animation on widget every time any song is played, now they changed that animation to the color of the theme we selected in attached image i selected red theme & animation color is also changed to red..its a nice small tweak.
Another changed in widget is is now shows facebook like button against the title of the song which tells u liked it or not in fcbk..
3. New world clock widget added you can select upto 3 clocks from different countries & color of the analog clock is changed to yellow & blue according to the day/night time of the clock.
many other new widgets were added some of them are:
-New Calender Widget.
-New Analog Clock.
-Friends Games & App Widget.
-& Music & Video Widget (facebook) is now revamped to 4*2 size & looks good now.
4. In Messaging we can now easily select multiple recipients that is pretty needed function.
5. Music player got some tweaks also, now we can customized our now playing list by moving/dragging songs up & down (thumbs up for this).
I Unable to upload more attachments thats why just providing other features without screenshot...
4. Music Player Continues.....
Music player now had option to add or remove any extensions we can also search for extensions (3rd party) from market now.
Like button is also revamped everywhere including music player.
5. Keypad.
Keypad now got 1 extra input method GESTURE INPUT, & it is very easy & helpful to write with it, however some practice needed at first.
I found that touch keypad is marginally changed/revamped from old one like alphabets are now in dark black which looks something odd to me.
6. 3D Camera & Gallery.
Most discussed feature in 2.3.4 update, good feature addition to our mini pro, i liked panorama images captured by this application it feels like we are using CYBERSHOT SWEEP PANORAMA.
However there is 1 bug in this application that after opening this apps first click to capture panorama shot will produce error its always given error to me. rest 2nd time its click shot easily & quality is superb.
2nd prob with this app is that brightness is very low so that in indoor conditions we cannot able to shot good pictures however in good sunlight conditions pictures are superb.
7. Gtalk Video & Audio Support.
Our Xperia MIni Pro is now support video & audio chat in gtalk, i tested it & works nice. another usefull feature.
8. Facebook Inside 2.0
Facebook inside 2.0 came with many little tweaks here & there like:
-sharing capabilities of any apps by selecting and dragging it to notification bar.
-improved integration with contacts, now in contact we can see status update also + relationship details + DOB etc.
-Latest application to share games & application & one widget related to this.
9. Integrated Backup & restore feature.
Now there is another feature added in settings>privacy settings>backup & restore
it helps backup application data, wifi passwords & other settings to google servers & restore all application data if we reinstall any application.
Very Needed feature for android. thumbs up again!
10. Summary Of Small Tweaks here & there.
At last i summarized small tweaks here & there in this latest update like:
-Performance increased from last version, quick bootup time, less lags, i found this version is fast from my last little bit buggy version 2.3.3.
-Icons changed for widgets & folder in ADD TO HOME menu.
-In Last version if we remove usb data cable accidentally while using phone as usb transfer after removal of cable all application in launcher will displaced, & we have to custom arrange all. but in this version i didn't find this prob.
-Ant+ feature addition.
-USB to go feature officially supported now.
If im missing something please share with us.. so that we can find what is added in this update.
im missing the new analogue clocks, world clocks and the new calendar widget. I've read somewhere that there should have been a timer widget as well. Does it mean that something went wrong with my update or every update is different depending on the country? Im from philippines by the way.
i think its true that content is country dependent as this timer widget is i have pre-installed even on 2.3.3 for me world clocks widget, some analog clocks & calender widget (new one) is available after 2.3.4 update... however u will get all this files even in your phone if u rooted...

i rooted my phone with tools from DooMLoRD,then unrooted (also with DoomLoRd tool) it before updating to 2.3.4 - works fine.
Okay, I just updated my mini pro to 2.3.4 and, I have a question to ask.
In 2.3.3 I used to see all my facebook albums in the stock galley application in the phone. But since I've updated the firmware, I can only see one facebook album i.e 'New from friends' in gallery. Is it just me, or 2.3.4 just doesn't show all facebook albums?
A very good fix this update gives is the ability to connect channel 13 wifi networks. At least I couldn't before (with stock 2.3.3).

With the new JB update out, there's been a lot of talk about the new firmware. However, discussion has been a bit messy, so I'll write up a detailed review here and try to clear things up on what's in this update and what isn't.
(WARNING: Detailed review = long post. You've been warned.)
Numbers
Android version: 4.1.2
Firmware build: 6.2.A.0.400 (GENERIC_WORLD)
Kernel version: 3.0.8+
NEW FEATURES
Lockscreen
The slider has been replaced with a simple swipe upwards or downwards. The clock can be swiped left-to-right for music controls, and right-to-left to access the camera. This lockscreen is FAR quicker. No longer is there the problem with the slider where I would slide the unlock icon a few pixels short and have to try again.
That being said, the lock/unlock "click" sound effect plays about a second late, which is a little irritating, and if you use a pattern/pin you will lose the benefits of the new lockscreen.
Xperia Home Launcher
The Overview mode, where pinch-zooming would display all your widgets floating around on one page, has been removed (presumably due to the lag it caused). Instead, pinch-zooming OR tap-holding an empty space will reveal the new customization menu, where you add widgets/change wallpaper/etc. You can now have up to 7 or as few as 1 homescreens.
Notably, the menu button no longer works to bring up the customizer, so don't spam-tap it and think your menu button is bricked
The dock no longer has text for the apps kept in it, and the app drawer is now that of the Xperia Z. All the old functionality is still there, but some is hidden under the menu button. Uninstalling apps through the app drawer is ridiculously fast - you don't see a progress bar. Also, if you choose to organize apps in your Own order, you can put apps into folders (helps with hiding the crapware).
The multitasking menu is now smaller, but doesn't have Small Apps. I think it looks nicer, especially in landspace, but is quite a waste of space. We should hopefully see Small Apps ported over soon.
Notifications
There are now five built in toggles at the top of the drawer - Sound, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, Settings. I can't find any way to customize these, so looks like we're stuck with these five.
The time is now included in the notification area with a new "Clear" button. More importantly, if you have 12-hour time set, the notification bar will no longer display am/pm, which makes sense - it's usually quite obvious if it's the morning/afternoon, and frees up space for more icons.
Notifications are now expandable, by dragging a finger down to "pull open" the notification. This is used for many notifications that show you info, like emails, texts, missed phone calls, music controls, etc.
Also, when you tap-and-hold the notification bar, the shade will now auto-expand far enough to show you the date. So there's that.
SONY APPS
WALKMAN has had some refinements to it (beyond the colour scheme now being purple instead of blue). As well as some minor graphical refinements, there are now additional options for audio enhancement. There is ClearAudio+ or access to an equalizer, surround sound modifers, and more (Clear stereo, Clear Phase, xLOUD, Dynamic normalizer). Weirdly, you can only choose one or the other.
ClearAudio+ is, at least in my opinion ... different. Not better or worse. It seems to increase clarity by using the equalizer to emphasize certain instruments and tone down others. I found that particularly in many songs the drums were made quieter and the vocals and guitar louder. However, on some songs it emphasizes the wrong things, resulting in an odd sounding mix.
The equalizer is a bit bugged, the numbers on the meter don't display correctly.
The notification controls still disappear when the music is paused and now lack a Previous Track button, unless you expand the notification.
Album and Movies are, honestly, nothing to rave about. I personally think Sony overadvertised them - apart from some extra eye-candy they are functionally no different to the ICS apps. They look nice, at least.
Socialife doesn't come with the update, but can now be downloaded via the Play Store, or if that doesn't work, xda. If you use Timescape I suggest you get Socialife and forget about Timescape. Socialife isn't extremely awesome, but as Timescape's replacement, it's better. You can add Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Reader (lol whoops) and any RSS feed you chose. The interface is rid of any Gingerbread influence and has far more functionality over Timescape's useless fancy faux-3D effects.
Sony Select is basically a reskinned PlayNow that can't be uninstalled. It's useless.
Browser is untouched and it's good to see Sony's kept it there for those who prefer it over Chrome.
Phone, Contacts and Messaging are now Holo Light themed.
FM Radio has been reskinned with a visualizer and other pretties.
Xperia Link is a new app used for internet tethering to your laptop. I have no use for tethering, so I don't know how well it works.
Crapware is reinstalled, for those who got rid of it. PlayNow, McAfee, EA Games, etc. Uninstall it.
Google Now
Yes, it's there. Some people have said they can't get it running - open the Google app in the app drawer and you should be walked through setup. If it doesn't work for you, try deleting the app data in Settings. It worked for some people.
As for GNow itself, it works great, although it will work best in the US. (It doesn't seem to like the NZ accent, for one )
PERFORMANCE
Project Butter has had an effect. There is still some stutter here and there but overall things are zippier. I suggest going into Developer options and setting animations and transitions to .5x speed. Things will happen at the speed of light, I promise.
I ran a Quadrant benchmark for ICS and JB. ICS gets a score of 2445 and JB a score of 2527, so it appears the benchmarks agree.
And before anyone asks, no, I will not report on my RAM stats. Not only will they differ from yours, because you will most likely have more/less apps installed, but how much RAM is in use does not matter in Android.
BATTERY LIFE
Battery life appears to be around the same. STAMINA mode is just Extended Standby rebranded and giving us some more control, so really the battery is still mediocre. You can expect to be charging overnight with moderate use.
MISCELLANEOUS CHANGES (or lack thereof)
The font is now Roboto everywhere, and boy it looks holo. You'll notice the new font everywhere and it looks very good.
All over the place there are minor graphical changes. I could list them all but it would be pointless.
Bravia Engine has not been updated - we're still on the original.
The camera has also been mostly untouched. We can't take photos while we record, no Superior Auto. 3D Sweep Panorama and 3D Sweep Multi Angle have been removed. However, on the bright side Quick Launch seems to be faster by a few seconds, bringing the horrendous 5-7 second wait to an acceptable 2-3.
LIST OF BUGS
Lockscreen lock/unlock "click" sound plays about a second late.
Cosmic Flow and Overview mode have been removed, likely to "fix" the lag.
Equalizer in WALKMAN has graphical glitches.
WALKMAN notification control still disappears upon pausing the music.
Overall this is an excellent and long-awaited update by Sony. Good job from me. I personally do doubt we'll ever see 4.2, much less Key Lime Pie, but hopefully we will get some bug fixing releases to correct the few quirks there are.
I hope you found this overview of the 4.1 update useful. If I forgot anything, tell me and I'll update the OP. Thanks for reading!
APPENDIX
You can root with an unlocked bootloader or a locked bootloader.
If you haven't got the update but WANT IT NOW, you can either change your SI number to trick PC Companion or download the FTF and flash it. (Or you can be patient! )
There's also general discussion going on in the official thread.

Almost every app now works on those two ways. I found notification of missed calls most useful. Now i dont have to go in Phone app to call missed call. I can do it from notification bar. This is great thing.

Hi
Guys we all know some apps dpi are just not compatible with ultra, well its nobody's fault if it all ends well. Some of you probably know this fix but for people like me who didn't below are the issue and the fix
Issue: The text box in skype gets cut off i.e we can call, voice call etc but just can't text anybody. Its even worse in landscape!
Fix:
Prerequisite:
1. Root
2. Always backup
Method 1.(I dont prefer)
1.Use an app in google play store to change the dpi, drawbacks is it will affect the whole device i.e everything gets tiny.
Method 2 (I prefer)
1. Install xposed installer from HERE
2. within xposed download and install App Settings
3. Run App settings search for skype and then change screen dpi to 800x1280, hit save.
thats it the text msg box will reappear without changing the size of the font.
Yes there is just an apk you could rather install without going thru xposed installer but then again i suggest everyone to experiment & discover mods present in xposed installer.
Or just rotate the screen and boom it's there?

Well, hello left hand i suppose? Yeah not to discourage you to fix portrait issue, but to do rooting and installing Xposed just to fix such issue is not worth it imo.. Just move that lazy left hand and problem solved. I have sounded to them in Play Store though through my Rating Comment so while i agree it is irritating to have the portrait issue, but it's not worth the time to fix it by rooting and such. Maybe the better solution if you customize the Skype apk and post it right here so unrooted people can gain the advantage too.

I never checked back on this thread until I got an email today.
Not to sound rude but mate I seriously dont need your encouragement either. I was just trying to help. Skype will eventually fix this issue. Its pointless decompiling, editing and uploading for me. Most of the users have root and Xposed module is widely used. Moreover 'root' has been clearly stated as a prerequisite item in the OP.

Well i was just stating the obvious, put it into landscape and it's fixed, use that two hands of yours. There are a lot of unrooted users here you know (me included, due to Z series rooting hassle) so i just put it up right there so anybody can realize that. I was not aware of this issue until using Skype unintentionally in landscape, so to save anybody's time who hasn't done rooting, just go landscape bud, nobody ever complaining about playing their game in landscape and plus, just as what you said, they will fix it anyway, so why the need to kill the flies with a bullet?
But then again, no offense for you and i apologized if i have said something in a wrong manner, case closed.
Thanks a lot for this!
I have to say that I use Skype a lot, and this was a true issue for me.
This is XDA after all, so a solution using rooting is perfectly acceptable, and it is just a matter of what you want to do with your own device. (also root is reversible, isn't it?)

I should apologize too. Lets hope someone comes with a better solution for users without root.
Take it easy mate.
One of the (bad) solution is to use the version 4.0.0.22082, the last version that lets you choose between phone and tablet UI yourself. (you can find it if you search for the APK)
Now Skype is at version 4.7 I believe, so yeah, that's bad ^^
You can also try IM+ pro, which lets you connect to skype, is better with the battery but really is not reliable when it comes to the quality of the connexion (also isn't free).
Yeah, I researched that a lot, haha!

So it's the reason why I told you that it's really a mess to use it in landscape mode.
And it isn't a bug, but a decision of Skype to provide the app like that.
I had the same issue with the Ascend Mate, now with the Xperia Z Ultra.
So I'm sorry but it seems that you're not a real phablet user and also a real Skype user or you must have amazing hands ! Please share your picture from the guiness book !
Otherwise, if you follow also the community forum of Skype, you can see that we are a lot to complaint concerning that, and we will continue !
One thing I found, since I'm using Skype a lot for work, and I can't escape it, is to use Swiftkey keyboard (and probably others).
Not only it's a great keyboard normaly, it also have a "split" layout where the keys are reachable by thumbs on both sides of the screen.
It is the only way that Skype was actually usable before I found this thread
Today all vesion old can't connect to Skype, update to v.5xxx not show reply text... set dpi in appsettings it's very big!

I think this deserves its own thread so more people will be able to get a better view of the Vodafone Kit Kat update which i got today as an OTA ( D80220A DE 16GB ).
1. Auto brightness works perfectly (although it's a bit dark in low light conditions,maybe my eyes have to get used to it)
2. Knock on is instant, works perfectly and it's 100% accurate and successful (led light flashes cyan instead of white)
3. Auto account sync now works perfectly(it used to refresh randomly)
4. Battery life is actually better
5. Some apps run faster and they have the 3 dot option which first appeared on 4.3 I think?
6. Locations services and gps have merged to a single toggle button but you can still switch to different modes. Also more battery efficient.
7. White icons on status bar and transparency for status bar + front touch buttons on apps that support it
8. Updated LG applications
9. On screen phone application added (allows to control phone screen from the computer while on wifi) and preinstalled Google Drive app.
10. Camera photos are saved by default in a "camera" folder instead of the 100LGDSC.Camera(old) contains the old photos in gallery.
11. No knock code and no ART options available.
12. In application settings there is a separate "Disabled" bar next to "All" listing the disabled apps (Which is very convenient)
13. Printing added on general settings
14. 4G works normaly as before
15. The font on some apps is bigger
16. Weather animation now working properly and without lag on the lockscreen
17. Camera autofocus seems to have been improved, especially in video recording
18. No more stuttering on menu animations while something else runs in the background (i.e. When a chat head pops up or the weather widget refreshes)
19. Option in settings for turning on or off the led notification light for downloaded apps
20. Aspect ratio correction was removed from the settings (I can't find it so correct me if i'm wrong)
21. Two new FM radio widgets available

Issues:
1. "com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error showing up after each boot
(Note : Reportedly a hard reset fixes this)
(Note 2 : I confirmed that SwiftKey causes the error and it should be resolved by an app update.
Vote for the bug here: http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...stions/5560697-foreclose-on-lg-g2-at-t-kitkat)
2. The Bluetooth process is running even when off but i don't see high impact on battery life as others mentioned.
Eventually people will report the issue and it will be fixed in a future update.
3. Noise and hissing when playing music with earphones and the stock player.
4. Sometimes,when plugging in the headphones the sound comes only from the the phone speaker and only way to resolve this is by rebooting.
(As for the lower benchmark scores after KitKat i've never tried it and i couldn't care less)

Additional thoughts:
This update is more like an "under the hood" job ! Phone feels smoother and stable overall, many small issues have been sorted and a few details here and there were refined and polished, resulting in a stock Rom the way it should be done. In short words I'm very satisfied.
Feel free to ask me questions
Regards!

I'm not sure if this is KK related or it has been there before but when I receive an incoming call while I'm browsing a small window pops up with the caller info and 'answer' and 'reject' buttons so you won't get interrupted by calls if your doing something which is a really nice feature!

Wao this is a very positive review regarding update. Seems like it was well worth the wait.
I'll be very glad if Auto Brightness is working fine now.
Two questions
1. Opening threads in messages app seem to take a second in JB. Any difference felt in kitkat?
2. Photos taken as portrait come out as landscapes in PC and have to set them as portrait again in windows. Kitkat solves this?

2. It's the same, but I think this is due to the way Windows Explorer handles the photos.

anyone know how to get rid of bluetooth running in background even though its not on?
I found that the rotation on home screen from portrait to landscape is smoother.

there was a suggestion to choose only bluetooth from the battery saver items and turn it on immediately but i tried that and it doesnt woek.
Can you try swiping the navigation bar downwards? I saw a video about a KK review on G2 and he can hide / show the nav bar by swiping gesture. Please confirm?
The bluetooth service doesnt seem to run on the Korean version guys.Maybe they fixed it?
I found another issue guys tho i dont know if its only on my end:
When using the quick window case there was supposed to be music controls when playing music with the stock player,no?
Anyone that can confirm this?

I just acquired the Chinese version (BLA-AL00) of the Mate 10 Pro and seems to have some problems with notifications. I haven't been receiving most of my gmail notifications (only once did the phone vibrate and a notification pop up on my lock screen) and can only see my emails when l I turn on the phone and open the app. What's the fix for this? Thanks
I'm having same problem with yahoo mail
I've tried things like putting your app as "priority" and a few other things I've read on other websites but still no luck on getting my notifications to work correctly.
I would also like to add that even when I open the app, it can take a few seconds for the new emails to pop up. I'm going to assume this mostly a problem with the Chinese version of the software? The phone didn't come with ANY google apps preinstalled (gmail, youtube, chrome, googles maps, and play store)

I'm a note 8 user same problem that you have but my problem got resolved like this :
I've entered in battery optimization
saw the Gmail app putted to sleep by the battery optimization
Unchecked from there and it worked
Btw should I change note 8 for Mate 10 pro? Or should I keep both?

My problem is same no Gmail notifications but wen they do come thru my screen flashes black goes normal and black again until I dismiss email
I believe your problem relates to Huawei's aggressive battery optimisations - check my post on another thread here for instructions on how to resolve it.

I'm assuming by "don't optimize" you meant "not allowed"? The choices are to "allow" the certain app to ignore battery optimization or "not allowed"
Huawei's battery optimization feature doesnt works, launch settings does not works. Its a bull**** phone, and all this huawei optimizations, kills every ****ing app as soon a screen got locked, no matter what seetings i choose, nonetheless with all this huawei ****, battery is still dieing after couple of hours of usage.

Doesnt helps. Easiest way to check is an app that does something while off screen. No need to wait for a mail to come.
Here's a screenshot, that proves I disabled battery optimisation, and that doesn't changes anything. As soon I lock my screen, the app is killed, and everything that app has to do, does after I unlock the phone... That's really my last time I buy Huawei.. was really glad about mate 9 pro untill updates ****ed up everything and ruined all phone experience I had. Now the same story with mate 10pro just from the beginning...

I'd dare suspect that the app you have immediately above "Flash Alerts 2" might have something to do with your problems. Have you been manually updating the firmware? Possibly with something which Huawei didn't intend to be installed on your 'phone?
Have you performed a factory reset after installing non-standard (i.e., not supplied OTA) firmware, as you're supposed to? There've been plenty of times during my experimentations with other 'phones that I've flashed new firmware and had very strange results until I performed a factory reset.
