No you have to replace the whole digitizer.
The cable is in the digitizer.
The best thing you can do is buy a whole nieuw digitizer and glass package.

Hey all,
Unfortunately my phone dropped, it had a case (not a full one) and the glass shattered.
Screen and digitizer are working fine.
Does someone was able to only replace the glass+digitizer on this phone?
i have looked for a video/procedure but couldn't find one for the DNA. (Video anyone?)
I'm about to order the part but I am not sure if I should go for the digitizer only (50$) or for the LCD + digitizer (160$).
I have all the hand tools and the "hands" I'm just not sure if it is possible.

Why not just have htc replace? They do a good job....
In my experience, No. It is VERY VERY hard to separate the LCD and the digitizer. I was not successful on my first attempt and it ended up costing me double because I had to buy an entire front section, which is pricy. If you want to take a shot at it, I still have an HTC oem digitizer thats sitting here collecting dust. PM me.

Thanks for the offer.
I decided to take it to a repair shop in Cambridge, MA,
They said they can replace the glass only for 120$.
Where did you repair it eventually? How much did you pay for entire front section?
Hi everyone,
After replacing my S3 glass, My digitizer only sometimes works
For example I can usually scroll and type a little. But cannot use swype, or zoom in or anything like that.
I think this is because I didn't really any glue left at all.
The replacement screen had no glue on it, Whereas the original glass had glue on the back, to stick onto the digitizer/lcd
Should the replacement glass have come with this glue or not?
Thanks
There are no official replacement parts. For official support, take it to a samsung service center. Whether or not it has glue depends on the seller. The glass is not meant to be replaced, Samsung always replaces the screen as well, so that's why you're having problems.
If I buy this
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171037960172
can I put it between the glass & the lcd/digitizer?
No you can't I changed glass on my friends galaxy s3 works fine but is not genuine part you will get problems

Hi guys,
I have break the glass of my xt910 and i search to replace it.
On internet i found 2 type of replacement parts, one type with lcd/digitizer and glass lens for ~100$ and the other with just glass lens for ~30$.
My LCD and my digitizer work fine so i don't want to buy useless things but on video that i watch where a guy disassemble a razr. At the end, they have just the part with lcd/digitizer and glass lens and they don't go far away.
So i want to know if i can just buy a glass lens and replace just this part on my razr.
I post you a photo of my smartphone.
Thanks and sry for english this is not my native language.

I think you should get a Glass+Digitizer, its available in ebay from China sellers for around 85$. Because in most devices removing glass from digitizer will be a tough task!!

I see a tuto with a air dryer. For 70$ im ready to test this solution.
Thank you
Anyone else ?
Not sure if you went through with it, but I'd advise against it. I was about to do this with my old Razr and we backed out. The digitizer and screen are fuzed together so separating them is really difficult without cracking the actual screen (I've heard it's actually impossible).
My Nokia Lumia 920 Glass shattered after it was dropped from 2.5 feet, it landed on the glass and shattered, the touch is working fine and the display is also fine, no leaks and displays everything properly. When I took the phone to Nokia Care they informed that the whole glass, digitizer and LCD has to be changed even though the latter two were working fine and asked me around Rs.15000 (approx 280 USD) to fix it. Is it possible just to replace the glass. I recently ordered a digitizer in ebay and it was shown with glass and when I received the package it just had the digitizer without the glass and it didnt look like OEM at all. Am planning just to order the glass and use my existing Nokia digitizer that came with the phone if there is a way to separate the digitizer and shattered glass. Please let me know what I will require to fix.

I broke mine recently too and after calling several local phone repair places (got similar quotes), I was convinced that the best bet was to order the whole screen assembly (including the LCD, digitizer and flexible key ribbon) and then do it myself. the assembly cost me just under $100 and was easy to replace with the help of the video on ifixit (here).
You can do just the digitizer, but its risky. The digitizer (the glass) is adheared to the LCD screen, and as I learned with my HD2, its very easy to ruin the LCD when separating the two. Within the guide posted above, there is a seperate guide for doing this (the link appears at about the 17:50 mark), you just have to be very very careful.
One last tip! The flex ribbon for the volume, power, and camera keys is very fragile and can easily tear when you're assembling/disassembling. I ended up ruining the original one when disassembling, then despite being extra careful, ruined the one on the new screen when reassembling, then had to wait a week for another new ribbon that I ordered off ebay. Watch out for the little plastic nub on the inside of the casing by the camera button. It sticks straight out towards the key ribbon and cuts it like a knife. That's what ended up tearing mine both times.
Good luck!

XDA doesn't have a specific forum for the 1520 and XDA needs one. I bought my wife a 1520 and dropped it the first day (slippery case). Broke the glass in two corners and really doesn't effect anything and you can barely see the cracks. But, I too would like to replace it. Haven't tried to get an estimate and I am very capable of replacing myself. I have the insurance but that will cost $200.
Ideas or suggestions, other than don't drop your phone!
Hi.
Accidentally dropped my s3 i9300 ( ofcaurse at day when i don't had lifeproof on in ) and front screen has a one crack from top to the bottom.
Im ok with replace it by self together with video from xda user http://goo.gl/120AwW
This was created in 2012. I wont to ask you noob questions:
1. Is this the best way to replace it?
2 . Do i have to replace digitize or only front glass ?
3. Which glass/screen is the best to buy as replacement ? ( is possible to buy better then original - like for s4 or better ? )
Thank You for any help.
I found this thing. http://goo.gl/JNKlqc Is that what i need ?

Yes but u ve to be very careful when u remove your broken screen. Make sure you get the screen hot enough without frying yr lcd. What u are replacing is only the glass, the digitizer is a film glued on the lcd.careful not to lift it up when remmoving yr glass also be careful of the flex cable for menu and back button. Never start from bottom. One thing for sure yr phone will be the same again as the original does not have a gap between the glass and the lcd it is filled with glue. Its better to buy the complete assembly from aliexpress cost abt $90US. Cheers
