What is the benefit to converting shw-m250s to i9100? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought an unlocked galaxy sii from a friend of mine and it's the korean shw-m250s model. I don't really know much about these phones but I heard you can convert the shw-m250s firmware to the international i9100 firmware. I wanted to ask what the benefit is as well as if there any associated problems once converted?

U can then flash any I9100 rom

So I assume that entails using the latest version of Jelly Bean and such? if I convert to the i9100 firmware will I have any problems? I've seen people talk about having problems with certain sensors such as the gyro functions.

Not properly, due to the button layout being different among other things. If you want an i9100 based rom, I'd use DesignGears' Perception (based on KI3) until more start popping up. If you flash an i9100 rom right now, you'll run into problems.

[Q] Can you use a ROM for the GT-i9100 on the i727?

Can you use a ROM for the GT-i9100 on the i727?
If not, why not?
Maybe you could use a radio designed for the i727 and the ROM designed for the GT-i9100 on the i727?

No, because they have different chipsets. They are only similar in name. Hardware is completely different. That, and any ROM for I9100 wouldn't support LTE, since the I9100 doesn't have LTE.

I9300t vs i9300

I just bought a galaxy s3 and realised the code is i9300t. Is it compatible with Roms for the regular international i9300 version. The phone seems to be from Vodafone Australia.

did you use the SEARCH function? It was already answered x-times.
yes you can use I9300 roms on I9300T, only the frequency band for T models is different as they are optimized for 850MHz, but even there you can use also 9300 modems. Just make sure you got the international model etc. and flash the correct rom in that sense, otherwise no difference between T and non-T
Thanks. I actually did use the search feature but didn't find any responses.

I9300 and I9300T are only different in the frequency they are optimized for. Hence all Roms, but even the modems work. I also got a T model. Next time please search the question came up already a few times.

How to know what is the latest Android firmware that i9100 gets?

Hi,
Is there any site that shows what is the latest official rom that i9100 can get?
I mean what was the latest rom that samsung pushed to its i9100 devices?
I am not talking about custom roms.
Thanks!

samobile gives you rom files... but it doesnt say its the latest.
So if I search in samobile for i9100 I get the highest which is 4.1.2 - Is this is highest android version for i9100?
And I did search in Google before posting this thread.
Thanks
Just look for the highest number (4.1.2) and that'll be the newest....
There is debate as to whether the S2 will receive 4.2.2 at all, and I'd eat my old galaxy W if the S2 got 4.3 or 5.0......

Lol....I really don't think that there's any danger that I'll *have* to.
Samsung has updated the S2 more times than any other phone, and now it's 2 generations out of date (see S3 and S4).......
As good as this phone is, Samsung wants us all to buy something newer.....to spend more money with them. The S2 isn't even available in most of the network carriers stores here in the UK anymore.....
No new S2s = no more support/updates
