[Q] Xt910 Network (SIM) Unlocked? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi there guys, i have quite a peculiar problem and i tried searching the threads but to no avail.
I have an international RAZR XT910, i got it used, and as far as I know, it is sim unlocked, because i am already using a local sim on it (i live in the Philippines btw) and no local carrier offers this phone, thus the assumption that it is already sim unlocked.
However earlier today, when i tried to pop in another local carrier's sim card, i cant get any signal, and i dont even get the "sim card invalid" screen, just won't get signal at all.
I know the sim card is good since i tried using 2 different ones, but both wont get a signal.
When i put back my original sim card the phone works normal and gets signal.
My question really is, how do i make sure the phone is unlocked? Coz i know with samsungs there are codes you can use.
I have stock ics on system 1 and PA3.8 on system 2 using BMM btw, if that matters.
Hope to get a response. Thanks guys.

How old is that second sim card?
I've had that problem when I bought this phone,my sim was10 years old,it was functional in some older phones but not in this one, because of old chip,so I had to replace it with new one.

That's what i thought, so i bought a new one, (hence 2 SIMs) still same issue, no signal.
I'm thinking, is it possible that phone may not be completely unlocked?

Never heard of it, my thoughts were same as welder73s... Any chance to try SIM from yet another carrier? =)

I just did, we have 3 carriers here in my country. I tried the other 2 and both have the same symptoms, no signal. :banghead:
I don't understand why this is fhe case, bexause i am sure that the carrier which works on the phone never released this phone, thus the phone being sim locked to this network is unlikely.
Isn't there a way to check the lock status of the phone?

So as a last ditch effort, i think i'll try reflashing completely to stock.
I am currently on ICS 4.0.4 on slot 1 BMM. Can anyone point me to a thread that xan teach me how to flash to stock correctly? Thanks guys.

4g lte phone switching

question guys I have my thunderbklt but.in a few days I will also be getting a revolution so I was wondering how I would go about switching between the two I am pretty sure it.is.not as easy at&t or tmobile where u just pop out the sim.and into the new phone
Sent from my A05PTH3ORYB0LT using XDA Premium App
Meaning you want to unlock your sim card right?
I don't know why you would buy to phones >.<
but maybe you should just try
taking out the sim card and putting in the revolution. I mean its the same carrier. I don't see why It wont work. Unless the sim cards is registered to your phone then maybe it won't work. But who knows
Okay thanks

[Q] Switching between LTE phones

If I wanted to switch from one verizon 4G phone to another, do I have to call and switch the ESN/IMEI or will just swapping sim cards be enough?

Just swap SIMs.
Ive been wondering this. Lets say my phone gets stolen, can I still call verizon and have them lock the phone as stolen or can someone just stick their sim card in and works?

you can get the phone blacklisted.

Sweet. That's what I was worried about.

it would get black listed but they would have no trouble sticking any GSM network sim in it.

I don't think verizon has fully transitioned over to black list imei numbers to fully block them from being used on the network.

Using a different carrier sim without unlocking

Has anyone tried to use a different carriers sim in the amaze without unlocking it?
I came to Mexico for vacation and bought a phone here to use while I was here..
I didn't unlock my amaze to work with differents sim cards so I thought it wouldn't work.. well one day I got curious and switched out the t-mobile sim for a telcel ( name of the cell company in Mexico ).
Waited for it to boot and to my surprise it works, it has 4g and all.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?..
The phone is S-off btw..

Did you s-off your device it did you buy UT lie that? If you bought it lie that chances are it was unlocked by that person. If not you at 1 in a million

Little question
I have an HTC amaze from T-mobile and put in a telcel sim card, i can make and receive calls but i still dont have any luck with the data, APN's already set up and nothing, are you sure that you didnt unlock and only are S-Off?
If you're unbranded, your unlocked! If you're T-mobile branded, you weren't supposed to be unlocked, unless the precious person unloxked it for you.

XT912 on att network

Att SIM card works on Verizon RAZR! Just needs little modification. Does not even require root! Thanks to the bionic forum

does data work ?
what "little modification" are we talking about
write up ? link ?
The procedure...
Data does work because I get an "H". But i choose to turn off data because i do not want to be billed.
I am on ics.
This is what I did (modified from the bionic forum)
- got an att sim card activated with a basic gsm phone
- turned off razr
- replaced the Verizon sim card with att Sim card
- turned on phone. You will get an "unknown sim card" error. Press ok
- go to system setting>more> mobile networks> select GSM/UMTS
- click back button, select access point names, select AT&T US (wap.cingular)
- press *#*#4636#*#*
- go to phone information, select WCDMA preferred, below it, turn off radio then turn it back on, exit by pressing home
- turn off data sync in the mobile data networks. Also turn off wifi.
- wait up to 30 minutes or more to let the phone connect to the network

I've heard of people getting AT&T text and calls to work on a XT912 but to date, I've not read of anyone getting data to work. Can you confirm that you have working data (without wifi obviously lol)?

Wish mine would cooperate so easily. It's been set like that for several weeks and never connected.
Anyone else successful? I got nada trying this.

I turned on data then I lost the signal. It would not come back even though the phone reads the access point name. I think either AT&T or Verizon saw that I'm using an unauthorized sim card and disabled the signal.

My RAZR gets Mexican signals roaming but would not connect to AT&T.

That's what I figured. Cellzealot is working on a hack but it doesn't look very promising - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619563. They do have a hack for the Bionic to use 3G on AT&T. I set my little bros phone up a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the hack seems to only work on GB and not ICS. Most Moto global phones can be unlocked for AT&T but since the Razr wasn't officially released as a global phone and they basically only announced global support because they couldn't patch it on ICS (my opinion, not confirmed), the Razr is different.

I heard that you only lose data when in U.S., when overseas your (overseas) SIM will work with data.

From the bionic forum is where I saw that moto phones will work if the GSM radio is installed and enabled. Being updated to ics, Verizon enabled Gsm radio to have used as a global phone.

I haven't followed it as closely as I once did, but the Droid 3 is completely hackable because AT&T has a similar device. So I purchased the unlock code, flashed the GSM radio and it was done. TBH created a hack for the Droid Pro that would unlock it (old file, not recently updated) similar to the unlock file that works for the Bionic. They also have a Razr unlock file that I believe changes some settings to GSM (I don't believe it's a true hack just setting changes) but it doesn't unlock data in the US. It only allows data overseas. One user in the thread I linked to reported picking up data in the US but only because he's close to Canada and AT&T was roaming to Canadian towers. That's further proof that Verizon and US GSM networks have enabled some sort of block that is yet to be cracked. Cellzealot is a pretty smart guy. If I had to guess (that is IF it can be hacked), he'll be the guy to do it.
A general consensus across the board is that ICS has changed the radio handling which has made sim unlocking much more difficult and patched previous hacks. Again, I'm just paraphrasing what I've read from Cellzealot. He's your guy for more information.

Yeah. I've messed around with this for a while and never gotten any gsm service. I'll trade you phones lol.
I wonder why this works for some and not others..

Are you on ICS? Wont work on GB. Some users report that it shows no service but they can still make calls and texts.

On ICS now but I've tried it on GB too. Never have gotten anything to work. Have done the NV edit and various patches, roms, settings.
I hope cellzealot has an epiphany.

[Q] How to enable GSM on stock JB?

Hi
Last Friday I bought and activated a simple mobile sim card for my razr which is the Verizon XT912 model. I did so because I was told it work and also saw it working on my phone before I purchased it. After updating OTA to stock JB it doesn't recognize sim anymore, I get a message saying "This SIM is from an unknown source." and the signal bars display no service. I've tried the radiocomm method, I've flashed the GSM patch and added the APN settings, so far I've had no luck. If any one can help I'm in desperate need of help since I already paid for the service. I don't know if it helps but I'm currently in the US and i think simple mobile runs of the T-mobile towards, also I added a screenshot of my device info.
Thank you so much! Lol in advance
