Hey all, I recently came back to the ROM flashing world.
When the official JB came out, I went back to the stock JB from Rogers for my i717R.
Although slow and clunky, I lived with it for the past few months mostly for bluetooth functionality and stability.
But enough is enough. I have recently moved to the PAC Man ROM 4.3.
The speed/performance improvement is refreshing, quite stable, and am glad to have the PA features which I love the most.
However, I noticed one thing and am wondering if anyone can help out.
On the stock ROM, the USB car adapter I have in my car pumped out the full 1A charge.
Now on the custom ROM, I noticed that it is only pushing out the 500MA.
I forgot to check if it was showing up as "USB Charging" or "AC charging".
Is this something anyone else is experiencing? Just wondering if the custom ROM's have some sort of different programming from the stock ROM in terms of detecting power sources.
I've installed the Trickster MOD, so I am going to test the Fast Charge option as I have installed Jamie's Uber Kernel as well.
Any help/insight would be appreciated!
Hm are you using a car charger or a USB charger with a car USB spot?

Not sure whats wrong with it.. I cant seem to charge my touchpad. I tried my phone's charger but it said it provides lower voltage and instructed to connect to the charger that came with touchpad. When I connect the stock charger (one that came with the touchpad)...nothing happens and it doesnt charge.
You think my charger isn't working or is there any problem with the touchpad?
Thanks for your help guys.
Are you running the CM7 build?
im currently running webos.
That happened to my gf's charger/Touchpad. I know that her contacts are flaky when I use the her TP charger for my phone. My guess is to start there.
If you are stock, my money is on the physical contacts, second guess would be the charger itself is bad.
You mean try using my phone's charger for the touchpad?

Touchpads are very picky to the charging source. There is a hack that you can download to fix that. However I recommend taking the stock charger, twisting it so it comes into 2 pieces and twist it back together. HP may have made the charging requirements picky for a reason. Much like early iPhones.

Ill try that once I get home.hope it works.....otherwise ill have to look into the hack. Do I need to root tp to get the hack working?

Yea. But that's easy

My gf's tp has problem charging a well. Tried charging via mine and her wall chargers. Both would charge my touchpad but would not charge hers. It would tell me the same as if I was charging using a computer. Charged it overnight and battery was still dead. Tried using multiple cables as well with no luck. Tried charging via the touchstone. For the first 7+ hours, nothing happened, just a battery icon with a flash and red bar. I decided to call HP about the problem. Set up and RMA to get it repaired. 10 minutes after calling HP, the touchpad finally showed some sign of life when it started booting up. I tried switching to the wall charger but it doesn't show any indication that it was charging. As of now, it is being charged on the touchstone but dunno the status of it because I had to go to work. I will find out in the morning. But I will still RMA the tp as it doesn't seem to charge via the usb port.
If the battery was that flat mllk it's probably damaged anyway so an RMA is the way to go.
Does anyone know where i can get this charger hack that is mentioned?
My charger did not work out of the box and it was simply because it is a universal charger made to take new plug attachments that screw into and out of the mane charging body.
It takes a rotation until it clicks into place to be properly set and functional. It seems mine was not rotated all the way in place. I thought I broke the charger when it came apart when I was messing around with it until I found this fact and after I put it back together and twisted it until it snapped into place it has worked fine since.
I plan to get a touchstone charger for it down the line anyways I think just to reduce wear & tear on the usb port and also to make charging it a more simple affair.
Shame it does not seem to charge from PC, its a bit misleading being that its a usb cable.
I got my MHL adapter in the post today. I stuck into the EVO3D microusb port and the phone froze. I had to pull the battery...
I tried again with the charger plugged into the MHL, samething...froze, battery pull...
I tried with the charger and the HDMI lead plugged in, same again, phone froze...
Im using Latest KingCobra with the Anthrax001a kernel..
Any help? pleeeassse
Do I have to change something in the settings or maybe install a perticular app?
Hdmi doesn't work with anthrax.

Yep, Known issue with Anthrax Kernels.
I can confirm that the adapter works on stock 2.17 Kernel (2.6.35.13-g277012f [email protected] #1)
thanks guys, I thought I was up to date using the Athrax....
I'll go to stock or Unity3 if that supports it...
I love the anthrax Kernels when I'm not using HDMI, but Chad (the dev of anthrax) has asked the community weather we want HDMI or HW acceleration; But I think he has been crunching away on some ICS yummyness for us instead hehe
I installed the stock kernel, Good picture with sound on my 40LE650C
The Evo3D isnt charging though, the screen is on at the same time and the battery is going down...shouldnt the phone be charging at the same time?
I want to buy a microUSB to HDMI adapter too. Where did you buy it and how much was it? THIS is the adapter I want to buy (I hope it will not be considered advertising).
That looks exactly the same as the one I bought...
but a warning about Dealextreme, they're registered in US but they ship from china...expect at least 4 weeks delivery to uk (personal experience with dealextreme)
my mhl adapter was shipped from the states to uk, only 4 days delivery

Yes, I know the packages are delivered from China. It doesn't really takes 4 weeks from the moment when they put your order at the post office (I picked up the last order in about 10 days after it was reported as sent from them). It takes maybe 3 weeks, it depends on the availability of the products. Thank you for replying, I don't mind waiting.
Mhl Works with leedroid 5.3.8 kernel... But this kernel is not reliable, have you tester another mhl friendly kernel?
Anryl 10.7 extremely reliable, with MHL, and very good battery life...0% per/hour battery drain idle airplane mode, about 0.5~0.75% drain per/hour idle normal
Hello guys, just got my SG3 today, and I see things are slowly coming along with roms/kernals etc. I want to know if anyone will be adding fastcharge to any kernal so I can charge my battery just as fast using the usb when in my car
Well guys, this is basically my last resort. Title says it all, really, my Atrix absolutely refuses to charge unless placed in my lapdock.
Originally, I was just thinking this was a bad charge/usb cable. Tried all of them in my house and at work. Nothing.
Next, I assumed it was a battery problem. Wrong again. My battery in my brother's Droid X works perfectly. If that wasn't enough proof, I work for an AT&T retailer, and a few days ago a customer traded in an original Atrix. I immediately took their battery and tried it in mine. Same thing.
Alright, ROM issue, perhaps. Flashed multiple versions of CM9 by Turl and Jokersax, and the Nuetrino builds. Notta.
I finally begin to tell myself it was just a faulty charge port, and that I'd need to have it repaired. Out of other options, I placed it in my lapdock. Lo and behold, she charges up, every single time.
Anyone have ANY idea why this would be happening?
I've already attempted taking the phone apart and checking the connections inside. I'm no technician, but everything seemed fine. Slight problem there, my cheap screw driver stripped 2 of those T5 torx screws during reassembly, so now I've gotta find a way to get those out before I can get inside again, if necessary. Ugh.
It's obviously not really realistic to carry my lapdock with me everywhere, although that's been my only option as of late.
If any of you guys can suggest a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Help me out, fellow Atrix users.
I see you tried a different cable, but did you try a different USB wall plug? Had a similar thing happen to me about 4 months ago. Could only get my phone to fully charge on lapdock. Ended up buying a new OEM USB wallcharger off eBay. Charges fine with new charge. Old charger went bad. I would try a different charger.

I've tried literally every cable and wall plug I could find. As I said, I work at an AT&T retail store, so I've had access to tons of them. Nothing has worked so far.
Sorry for your luck. I'm pretty sure the Tom has nothing to do with charging as you can charge the phone while its off.
If its charging on the dock correctly, then I would think the phone is fine and there must be something wrong with the chargers you are trying.
Are the other chargers you are trying brand new OEM Motorola ones or aftermarket?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Both. No results.
You mention charging the phone while off... mine doesn't do that anymore either, or power on at all with the battery taken out.
I'm wondering if there is some kind of short in the charge port that requires HDMI to be plugged in before it will receive current. Odd theory, I know, but it makes enough sense given the evidence.
Hi!
I'm having problems lately with my phone only charging with some chargers (my original charger for the s3 works, and so does a HTC charger) but not at all with others. The problem is there when connecting it to the computer too, sometimes it syncs and charges flawlessly, sometimes it charges, but wont sync, and sometimes nothing at all happens. All of the chargers and cables work when i test them with other devices (including another S3). The battery is also fine.
The only thing I've been able to figure out is that the same configuration will always net the same result, i.e. one charger+cable works every time, while another charger+cable never works. In the past the cable not working did work, although only if I applied pressure in one direction, which led me to believe there was a problem with the charging port, however I find it weird that some chargers/cables works flawlessly.
I'm running latest OmniROM nightly with latest Boeffla kernel. I've tried deactivating the safe charging setting in Boeffla control, but it made no difference. Been having this problem since mid July.
Anyone know of any solution besides getting a new phone?
I experienced these too, it's just a matter of cable quality. My advice is always use the original cable
If you experience charging problems(eg. Phone isn't charging or it interrupts)or sync issues, your s3's internal plug might be damaged(it's quite common afaik)

Yeah as I'm suspecting the internal port too, just found it weird that some cables works. I tried two brand new chargers in the last couple of days, one Sony 850 mA and one generic 2.1 A charger. None worked with my phone, but both worked with my sisters S3.
I was hoping it would be SW related, but I've tried both a newer ROM version and a new kernel. Maybe I should try a complete factory reset?

I doubt it will work but trying is for free huh[emoji28]

Its a hardware related USB port problem for sure... This happened to 3 galaxy s3s I've used. I sent two of them back as only one cable worked with them which is ridiculous and I decided to get the third one fixed by replacing the USB port. After this it began to work fine with every cable.
