TouchWiz SMemo Gray'd Out (v3)
- for S4 TouchWiz based ROMs -
- DeOdexed or Odex -
By Peaster111
SCREENSHOTS IN SECOND POST
I’m not a fan of the brown/yellow scheme from Samsung. There is Little or NO Brown in this SMemo.
NEW Memo backgrounds to look like real "Post-it" notes
NEW Semi-Transparent Widget Background prior to adding a memo. (attached memo is not semi-transparent)
NEW Versions of Mod/Theme for complete compatibility
There are now three versions of this SMemo Mod/Theme to make it compatible across all TouchWiz Based ROM's:
... Version 1 is the Full VRTheme based on AT&T MF3. It includes the "resources.arsc" file and numerous "XML" changes. This is the most complete version, but is not compatible on all ROMs.
... Version 2 includes only PNG file changes. It does not eliminate all the "Brown", but it is compatible on any S4 Touchwiz ROM.
... Version 3 is the entire moded SMemo.apk. Packaged to flash via recovery. It is likely only compatible on MF3 ROMs.
Version History:
Version 3.0
... New backgrounds to look like real "Post-it" notes
... New Semi-Transparent Widget Background prior to adding a memo. (attached memo is not semi-transparent)
... Created three versions of Mod/Theme for full compatibility
Version 2.0
... Changed to VRTheme to increase ROM compatibility
Version 1.0
... Initial release
... Complete Brown Removal
... Icon Tweaked to Yellowish (like a Post-it) vise Brown
Install:
Make ya a backup first (optional, but always prudent)

Sick mod again! The S-Memo is probably the last thing I'm not satisfied with (other than that lock screen emergency call button).
Any chance that you can also modify the Memo background themselves?
e.g. a semi-transparent yellow or white memo background.
Thanks for your mods.
EDIT: just saw in your screenshots that you have that blue color in your notification bar icons too... mine is green (international i9505). Did you change it yourself?

Glad you like it. The memo backgrounds could be made semi transparent, I'm not sure they would look good though. The memos are overlayed on top of a solid black background, which I can't change. I could do a trial run and you can see if you like it.
Yes .. I've moded the bar. I'm working on my HoloWiz theme for the S4. It should be out in about a week. It is a well known theme in the S2 threads.

With the solid black background, does this mean that it is impossible for the widget to be semi-transparent (ala your SPlanner calendar widget)?
The semi-transparent S Memo WIDGET is actually what I really hope for.

I see... It is an intresting idea... don't know (yet). Semi-transparent won't work in the app, but I'm not sure about the widget. I don't know how "independant" they are from each other. I'll look into that. It may take a few days (if I can make it work). Don't know of anyone attempting this before.

Interesting... Modified/Custom S Memo backgrounds would be very easy to accomodate. A semi-transparent widget is the question. The widget is basically a snapshot of a particular memo. I need to determine if the snapshot could be semi-transparent. I have my doubts.
This looks great. Awesome work.
Was wondering if there was a way to change the memo color to white like standard notebook paper?

There are several backgrounds included with SMemo. One of them on plain white. It is not default though. Did you want something different or specially notebook paper? Did you want it default?
It seems that this version not compatible with the MDL base. Looks like you'll need MF3. I'll update the OP.
I'm running Vision Rom Ver 1.3, keep getting fc everytime I try to save the note.

Folks,
It seems that TouchWiz is not as compatible as I would have expected... time to take a new tack on this mod. I'll put together a VRTheme and we'll go from there. Maybe that'll make it more "universal". I'll need feedback once I update....
OP UPDATED...
NOTE: I've revised the package to VRTheme to increase ROM compatibility, but the "resources.arsc" file and several "XML" changes are included. The mod doesn't work without them.
As a result, this VRTheme may be incompatible with some TouchWiz ROMs.
You think the VRTheme incompatible with ViSion Rom 1.3?

no idea... It all depends on the xml and the resources.arsc file. All you can do is try. Make a backup of your original SMemo first.

That would be a shame if the widget cannot be semi-transparent... would look beautiful.
If it can't be done, could you please replace the S Memo backgrounds with more "beautiful" colors? I mean, the default background and the orange background are pretty ugly. Gotta admit the "graph paper" and "music sheet" backgrounds are good ideas though.

I agree on the backgrounds. I'll make some better looking ones. One guy suggested notepad paper for default. Sounds like a good idea.

Personally, for me the notepad backgrounds don't work in my experience. The text you type doesn't appear on top of the notepad lines.
Instead, it just goes randomly on top of the lined paper. You can't change the font size or the line spacing, so it just looks really messy.
Peaster, as Usual your use of gray over Sammys Brown and beige, looks incredible. I will try on my phone and let you know if it works on Sprint.. I have something that may help you with those Calend XML's if you still want. Thank you for this and your Calendar. Great work

This is a fun theme I made to resemble the soon to be released Nexus S. The new version will only work on deodexed JK6/JL4/JL5 roms. I had a lot of trouble doing some of the mods I wanted on the odexed roms so I decided to make the switch. I will leave the original version available for those that have odexed roms, but if you want the latest and greatest you will have to make the switch. Sorry for the inconvience.
Note: These themes take a long time to make and update, so if you have the ability to donate it would be much appreciated. Also if you use my work in your theme / rom please don't forget to credit me.
This is for stock JK6/JL4/JL5 Deodexed

That was the color of the app drawer in the leaked images of the nexus s.
Neat. I like the purple dock, but I think the image you're basing the theme off was just poorly shot.

Thanks for the post. I do plan on updating it very soon..
ATM I am going to stop updating this theme unless any other bugs appear or if fission is updated. I probably won't be coming out with other color updates because I don't have the free time to just work on theming, sorry. I will try and keep this theme updated so it works with all versions of fission though.
Update #2: Removed the gingerbread battery icon version because they had a weird background and I don't think that they are going to work and they don't fit the theme even when they are pink. I also updated the main theme to 2.6.1.
Update #3: Just added the new status bar color version. I am keeping the old one up also because in my opinion it looks better but some people are going to like the new one more.
Update #4: fixed menu color issues and changed the bootanimation ENJOY!. More updates to come tomorrow.
Update #5 *hitting head against wall with all of these updates* There shouldnt be any more bugs and I changed all of the app icons to the elegant steel style. I will continue to update this theme with vibrancy soon and I may change a bit more of the style.
Update #6 something went crazy and the last update so now it's all good
All bugs fixed and new BOOTANIMATION!
Thanks,
ljbaumer

I am proud to present my annual valentines day theme Pink Steel!
**Based off of Elegant Steel ported by me
Quick note: I have tested this theme and I have not noticed any bugs but if you find any please send me a PM of post the bugs on the thread
Standard Disclaimer: I DO NOT take any responsibility for anything that happens to you or your phone before or after you flash this theme. By rooting your phone you probably have already voided your warranty so you are on your own. If you have any problems I will try and help you but I cannot promise anything.
Install Instructions:
1) Boot into recovery
2)Make sure your system is mounted under mounts and storage
3)Install the .zip from your SDcard
4)Reboot your phone
5)follow me on twitter http://twitter.com/#!/ljbaumer99

I forgot where I got the bootanimation from but thanks to that developer.
If I left anyone out just pm me please.
Features:
I have included a few very unique features in this theme.
The first one of those features is the launcher2.apk
Launcher2 (stock launcher) is a custom version of the gingerbread launcher. It has 4 items in the dock at the bottom and an app launcher.
The app launcher in launcher2.apk is 3d by default! That means no launcherpro for your 3d app drawer
Also when you open the menu on the main homescreen you get 6 options instead of the stock 5. The added 6th option is a manage apps button (as shown in gingerbread) which takes you straight to the manager apps section in setting where you can stop running apps (like a task manager), uninstall apps or clear the data off of apps.
There are also some other features but I am pretty tired right now and I cannot remember any of them lol.

I really hate to say this and I am so sorry for saying it but the top bar doesn't really match the rest of the theme(looks a bit purple), plus I am having an issue with battery icon not being fully accurate(you think you can make it look like the Gingerbread battery but in pink that always worked more accurately for me). Now the highlighted pink color shown off is more of what I was looking for. But thank you for the hard work.
Maybe we should find a woman to be called the official D2 girl and use her as like a background option. lol
Ok... why don't you make the theme then? Or tell me how to make it? Jesus christ you guys are appreciative. (Sarcasm)

No, rush will be enjoying this one in the mean time. And if you can get the battery meter more accurate that would be a bonus as it seems to be a bit off for me(maybe a gingerbread style battery meter would be more accurate?). Or you can do the suggested changes for 2.6.1.
Anyway I can keep the icons stock color(or the ones I want), while using the rest of this theme the way it is?
Please add some more detail it is kind of hard for me to accomplish anything when you only right a sentance about what you want.

Ah, well my bad. Well I currently have this theme installed, but I wanted to know if there is a way to go back to the stock icon colors. Like would I have to change something in what section or something?
You would have to go into system/app and open each archive without unzipping it and edit the png for the icon.

Yes you would extraxt the original apks from fission and move their icons into each new apk which is supposed to be in an un-extracted archive.

This theme does not include a clock in the notification bar, if you like your clock delete services.jar from /system/framework prior to flash.
Font featured is called Droidlogo and can be downloaded from an app called "Custom Android Font Switcher"
For best experience flash over your stock rom. If you wish to have the Themed version of launcher pro download the below attachment. First uninstall launcher pro from your phone then install the below file like you would any other .apk (click on it from with in your favorite file browser)
Looks great. I just saw on one of your screenshots there is white text on white.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have noticed that as well, we will be fixing that in v2 as currently we are only able to get either white or black text everywhere, which messes up the menus. The menus as of right now are more important than the notification bar messages. (thus far this is the only noticeable issue with in the entire theme)
Works on Bionix 1.2.1. Can you link the wallpaper?
White market didn't install on bionix but other than that its looks amazing.
Looks great, probably just needs the newer Market.. I bet it's just updating. Great job, will test soon. It will be nice to see cyanogen's notification bar again, I miss the rounded look.
Why do I have to remove launcher pro? Its my favorite one. Looks really good! !

Thats because this theme is for Axura, you can likely get it to work by redoing the file structure or pulling the vending.apk from the zip and pushing to appropriate directory for bionix.

Looks great, probably just needs the newer Market.. I bet it's just updating. Great job, will test soon. It will be nice to see cyanogen's notification bar again, I miss the rounded look.

There's a newer version than 2.3.2 ?? I really need to read more. The only issue that i am currently aware of with the notification bar at this point is the white text upon notification. Hopefully this satisfies your desire for a more mature themes .

Because I HATE LPP , honestly i havent figured out why the flash doesnt work 100% of the time for LPP (those nasty vanilla folders clash horribly with the aesthetic).
If you all have any constructive suggestions for me please feel free, this is v1 I do plan on releasing updates with added goodies as my theming and coding knowledge base expands.
I didnt understand the need to remove LauncherPro either... Seems like Launcher2 is the way you want to go for the look/theme, but I cant see why a user could not opt for LP....
I included a themed version of Launcher Pro but for some reason when flashing it doesn't like the fact that lp is still there and doesnt over ride it. I can get the LP apk to install on its own as a standalone but not while flashing over the old lp. I'll update the op to be more clear

And the text message preview text is also white and on my phone there is small black specs in my upper right hand of the pulldown bar. Almost looks like its the first number of my clock cut off. Anyways kind of annoying to see. Any idea how to get rid of it ? I tried flashing twice but that didn't change it.

The specks are there intentionally, I wanted to give the notification bar a rounded appearance. I do know that the notification bar text is white, I havent had a chance to look into it yet, but from what i can tell its tied to the menu text color, which if we make that black is completely illegible, i may experiment with using a light grey text which would fix the issue, but at the time menu color was more important that the notification text color. Now as to the clock, are you flashing from stock axura or another theme? and what kind of clock did you want in your notification bar, standard the notification bar clock is removed.

LOL yea thats probably the cause then, if you could get a services.jar modified for no clock for trigger then copy and paste it to the system/framework directory it should fix that issue for you, i would attempt my hand at it but seeing as how i run axura i wouldn't feel comfortable posting something i havent personally tested. You could also try copying the services jar from stock Trigger into the same directory, that should work as well.

I might just flash axura to experience the full theme cuz my keyboard never changed nor did the market. I love the switch from the always dark colored themes to this one so I want the full experience lol. If you can keep this theme going with more and more customizing then it will be the most unique in my opinion

Hello community!
--------------------Intro:
This is a theme/mod that aims to make your smartphone look a little more like Samsung's new design currently existing in Samsung Galaxy S4. Most of the icons and colors have been ported from Samsung Galaxy S4 firmware.
It's name is "Advance Galaxy" because, "Advance" means moving forward, so, with this design we are moving forward towards the next "Galaxy" design from Samsung.
That's it, I hope you like it!
Please read the "Notes" section at the end of this post.
For those of you people who are lazy enough to ready the notes, I'm writing it here. [VRT] files will work on every firmware on both devices, I9070/I9070p. Look for the [VRT] in front of files or lists of files.
Check the second post for file compatibility on different firmwares.

--------------------Requirements:
Deodexed or Odexed TouchWiz 4.1.2 ROM
--------------------Usage:
You will find the main mod in two parts. Those will install the whole Theme on your device.
You will also find the separated files. Those files are basically the Parts 1 and 2, but split to let you install only what you want.
In the "Miscellaneous" section you will find the Galaxy S4 Original Full-HD Wallpapers in a .zip(Non-flashable, just for extracting).
Download what you would like to install and continue to the "File Installation" section.
--------------------File Installation:
1. Download the .zip/.zips that you would like to flash.
2. Place it/them on your sdcard or internal storage.
3. Shut down your phone.
4. Enter CWM Recovery Mode.
5. Mount /system, mount /preload.

Changed toggle indicator design. I hope you like it more.
--------------------Uninstall:
There is no simple way to do this. Since the mod is Universal and it is going to be installed on different firmwares I can't provide a single file to uninstall this.
The easier way to do this is by flashing your firmware over again via Odin. This way the whole Theme/Mod is going to disappear.
Another way is to go to your external or internal storage, and find a folder called "vrtheme-backup". Open it and find a "system" folder, copy and paste it in your root directory, make sure you press "Merge Folder" NOT "Overwrite", the reboot. This way you will have back your stock Settings, Phone, Framework, Camera and SystemUI. The themed Sounds, Wallpaper Chooser and Digital Clock will stay in your ROM.
Another way to do it, is by flashing the deodexed system for your firmware again. This way you will have everything back to stock, except Sounds.
--------------------Notes:
If you find an icon or text that looks bad, pixelized, barely visible or not visible at all, please post a screenshot. It will help me fix the error and make my mod better.
I'm always trying to make this post better and easily readable. If you have any suggestion, let me know. :good:
"[VRT]" stands for "VillainROM Theme", if you see that [VRT] in front of a file here, it means that this file is going to work properly on every Samsung's Jelly Bean firmware or ROM based on it!(That means NOT for AOSP/CyanogenMOD/Paranoid Android/AOKP/MIUI e.t.c.)

No it does not, if it's what I think. And that's why I created those different versions. Because some apps have white backgrounds and the status bar icons are white too, so they are not visible and/or they look bad. In newest phones such as HTC One and Galaxy S4, the status bar background is fully transparent while on Launcher and they turn black or grey when you are in an application. I don't know if that is possible to do it on my own.
The light blue versions are actually gradients. It's #ff3a4d5a on bottom edge and turns into #ff526573 towards to top edge. It keeps it beautiful by giving it some style. By the way, here is the gradient file, you can load it in Photoshop. I'm not sure about GIMP, you can try. http://d-h.st/938
The colour codes above have not any transparency, if you apply one of those colour codes you will get a full opaque result. The 50% transparent ones are here: Bottom #7f3a4d5a Top #7f526573
I was talking about this one... doesn't really look like a gradient...

Yeah I know what you mean. It was just the default Samsung Light Blue(which is gradient), but 50% transparent. I use image for the status bar background, not color codes. You can find how to do it on joehanh88's tutorial.

The Ultimate Real Icon Theme v5
Note, this is intended to be a Verizon Touch Wiz theme, any complaints from other carriers will be ignored.
It is finally here.... Thanks for waiting patiently.
The theme can work on most touchwiz roms. There are roms like Hyperdrive and Beans that have a lot of custom systemui that can end up breaking the system bar. The least mods you have, the better your chances of sucess.
The Aroma is still a little figidity. Sometimes you have to hit next a second time even after it has vibrated to indicate it was pressed
###Please Note, if your rom does not have a 1% Battery Mod, you can not install the % batteries because they won't be accurate. This is not the fault of the theme###

Thanks guys for all your hard work. I would also like to thank the Aroma Team and Villian Themers who make this possible. Without it, this wouldn't be a universal theme.
There is still tons to come so this is just for those that like to follow along.
Changelog:
v.03 - added about 50 new icons to Contacts (menus and tabs) and integrated my themed Google apps including the new Play Music.
v.04 - added MMS theming, systemui and framework-res theming.
v.05 - added theming for settings
v.06 - I updated gmail and google music but I have only themed the launchers on the new maps, its a bigger task than I have time for right now.
v1.0 - Pulled all files together and added Aroma Installer. Updated Play Store and Maps
v2.0 - fixed the 3d signal bars, i accidentally had the wide ones in place of the regular width.
V3.0 - Updated Google apps, Added eyes for Smart Stay. Everything works in ME7 except batteries, i will rename them soon.
v4.0 - Added 5 styles of dialers
v5.0 - Added new Play Music, Gmail, Google Voice. fixed aroma issue and updated aroma base. No double clicking needed now.
**notes on Google Apps. I moved them all to Data/App except the store. My script removes the old ones, well, i delete a large number of file names that I have seen them called in the past. But, if your current one is under a different file name that I don't delete, it won't show up. check in /data/app and system/app for two version of whichever one it is. If you delete the old one and reboot, it will come back.

Oh yeah!!... We're here!!
Awesome!!!
The bad thing is that you cant port this from the s3 or the note 2 because it has a bigger resolution, hence all bigger images. So unfortunately its starting from square one again, which is why there is so little done. And then again, it doesnt mean squat without the aroma installer working.

This is hardly our normal mass of work. Seeings we still don't have a working aroma, I decided that we would release all the status bar mods as individual installs (which you can find all over the s4 theme forums or just look in my beitel.us thread) and then start working on the core of the Real Icon Theme as a single install without choices (yet).
So far, all we have is most of phone apk themed, most of contacts apk themed and the Launcher apk themed. Of course you can always add the google apps theming from my other thread to give my theme a small amount of completeness.
There is still tons to come so this is just for those that like to follow along.

Actually, wth am I talking about. This should work for every I545VRUAMDK ROM but make a backup first and I'm waiting for a confirmation that it does work.
ALSO, if your dev made edits to the XMLS inside of SystemUI it could possible break those features. Such as transparent status bar and things along that line.
Every ones been warned!
