This may be a stupid question or this is how my memory truly is.
I am running CleanRom. I know the OS uses around 8gb from the get go, but not sure where the rest of my 8gb went. Not sure what "Miscellaneous files" are. When I click that I have about 6.5Gb labeled as "System memory". I don't use as much apps and save all my music/pictures/videos to my SD card as you can tell from their memory. All in all, I am using roughly 1.5gb that I can be accounted for. Am I missing the memo somewhere or am I doing something wrong? Another thing the shaded grey area indicates my available memory, but 700mb is not half of the 16mg lol. Thanks in advance.

I thought that was the case at one point but I searched high and low. I deleted all my backups the clockworkmod folder itself. I now put all my backups on my SD card.

You have to hit sdcard0 then press the phone icon in the top left.
Edit:
Odd it wont show the emulated folder after accessing shell. Shows up in root explorer. And thats where I lost space before. I guess you could always boot into cwm and use the delete option and if theres backups still there they would show that way.

I tried to create the blind directory like the pictures in the link but the aplication only create the blind directory in internal storage, can you explain me how you did it?
The trick to set the paths correctly and create the folder for the files to be moved which can be done through the apps' create new bind option.

You can long press on the paths to open a browser for easy navigation. Having created the bind and moved the data, as long as the icons are green you should be golden.

So i am new to Directory Bind
Can i do something like this... with this tool.
take Internal/Downloads and bind it to SDcard/Downloads
That way if something downloads internally to downloads it actually goes to the sdcard or if something downloads to the sd card downloads it is actually is still in the same spot.
Not sure if this will cause issues.
*EDIT*
wrong thread :/
meant it to be in the real directory bind thread
It works just have ensure folder path in exact I.e upper and lowercase sensitive

Work Fine on N7100
Hi,
Directory Bind work great for me on my N7100. Few critical point
a) Should use /mnt/ instead of /storage/. If not, each reboot will lost the binding & need to recreate.
b) When binding is ON (enable), u can see both sdcard & extSdCard appear to have at mirror folder, but it is actually the binding effect. If the application is not running. & u select unbind the particular folder, than u can see only the folder is appear in extSdCard & not internal SdCard.
c) Alternate db option shall be enable.

It acts as normal. When plugged intro pc it shows 2 folders. My internal and external.
Perhaps unmount then mount the sd card to force the media scanner to read all the file structure. Thats in settings>>>--->usb storage.

All. Whoa.
This is something JB does to the file structure.
Dont start deleting nothing. Storage under root points to sdcard0. If you pick sd card under root you get these options to get to external sd.
Sdcard0 is your internal storage
Extsdcard is your micro sd card
The others I'm not sure but there is no harm....unless you delete all your files.

Oh don't worry I won't delete my internal or external memory. I tried deleting usb f but nothing happen.
It's a mystery!
I have the exact same file structure listed for my "storage" also. My guess the usbdrives are nothing more than predefined locations for usb OTG if connected. I would think that we all SHOULD have the same structure setup for our storage (sdcard0=internal storage and extsdcard=external sd card) if we updated correctly.
It reminds me of "My Computer" on your PC. It too shows all your drives and the placeholders also for your flash memory.
Re: [Q&A] NOS Sense 5 Rom | ask your questions and discuss here
I've been using this rom for a fortnight but unable to understand how the internal storage works.
I previously used ViperDNA after S-off and then moved to this. Totally I made 3 twrp backups. But weirdly I'm able to see only 2 of them which are old in file explorer. When I boot into recovery, only the latest one is available to restore.
Also, I'm unable to copy the twrp backups into my PC. Whichever way I try to copy the folders, only a few files with total size in kb are being copied.
I've attached a screenshot of the file explorer showing 8 gb space as used while analyzer showing only 6gb of it. Very confused. Please help.

browse with file explorer or root explorer and Look for > Root/data/media/Twrp move your back ups to O zero folder/TWRP its where your recovery will look for backups/restore files.
you are unable to backup or copy from twrp /back up to u computer as a new security encryption anti theft in the new TWRP recovery
but you can do it by pulling from your pc through ADB

When you update to 4.2.2 Android, the file system gets modified to allow for the multi-user environment. Essentially, /sdcard gets replicated into /sdcard/0. When you boot up and try to view your files, you can only see /sdcard/0 - but it appears as /sdcard (very confusing, I know).
I suggest you try using ADB to traverse your filesystem from within recovery (boot to recovery, attach USB cable, run ADB). If you know basic linux commands, this is easy, but basically run
adb shell
ls /sdcard
ls /sdcard/0
to see the differences. The backups you made prior to the switch are probably in /sdcard/0/TWRP instead of /sdcard/TWRP. You can move them like so:
mv /sdcard/0/TWRP/* /sdcard/TWRP/
Then reboot recovery and see if they show up.

Thanks a lot for the detailed responses. Now I can see all backups in recovery. Also cleared my confusion about the file structure. Will try adb to move the backups to pc and let you know... Thanks again

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Try navigating to the folder through system/storage/ then either extsdcard or sdcard0 the to the twrp folder and delete it. Sometimes it works that way when not working directly.
Note 3 or Gear Sent
For some reason they're protected but you can delete them by connecting to a computer and navigate to the folder.

I'm able to do it both within root explorer and TWRP. Try booting into recovery, hit restore, and the option to delete a backup should be there. The backups on this phone are huge, which is such a bummer.
The permissions for each backup folder appear to be identical, rwx, rwx-rw. Files within each backup folder have permissions of rw, rw, r.
The thing that drives me nuts are the timestamps on the backups showing 1970. I haven't messed with naming schema. Could be easy enough to fix, but I haven't looked into it. Perhaps a protect backup option exists within session, which would explain things. Maybe the answer is on the TWRP site.
Let us know if you get this figured out.
