How do I root my U on Gingerbread? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello everyone,
I reflashed one of my U's with GB 2.3.7 (.184), and so far none of the methods I tried to root it were successful. I tried One Click Root, I tried using the flashtool, and I checked out the video from the guide thread, but none of them worked, and i don't want to have to upgrade to ICS again. Please help me out here. Thanks!

i have a X10i on Sony Ericsson's 2.1 ROM for the 02 network.
i have tried one 2.1 ROM which has worked on my phone which i found on XDA Devs.
i have been using Z4 root.apk and it force closes before it finishes the root.
Z4 root has worked before on my phone.
i have reinstalled the 2.1 stock ROM from Sony Ericsson 3 times to see if this will rectify the problem.
nothing seems to work
please help.
you probably have the newest variant of 2.1 (2.0.2.A.0.24) which is unrootable at present.
You need to search... maybe a few threads down from this one.

Flash the zip for 2.3.3
That's the one I used from that very same thread to root my phone.
I attached that zip in case you're confused. Just flash this through the recovery. (POWER BUTTON + HOME BUTTON)

Not working methods i test it for xperia 4.1.b.0.587.
Did you read the entire post? If not, do so, because there is a description of how to perform a downgrade there. After a downgrade you won't get any problems rooting your phone, will you?
Which is kinda funny - I don't even have my mini pro yet, it'll come tomorrow or in two day's time, yet I have already read the important information about firmawares, rooting, unlocking bootloader and kernel flashing method for a device I'm about to acquire. Simple as that, you only need to read it through
In my rooting guide (which is sticked) you can find a link on how to root your firmware version :good:

Oh please read my rooting guide, you just downgrade the kernel, root and upgrade the kernel again.
ICS on xperia is unrootable if you don't use the downgrade-upgrade method or you flash a rootable kernel or you unlock bootloader and flash a prerooted kernel. These are the only 3 methods!
And please read the sticked posts, they would help you much :good:
I think ud b better off not rooting if you can't follow the steps in the guide...

Hey buddy, I will tell you How to root Xperia 2011 devices ( In this case Xperia Mini Pro )
Here are the steps you need to know to root Xperia Mini Pro.
1)Go to Settings menu
2)Click on Security option
3)Mark Unknown sources
4)Go back to Settings menu
5)Tap on Developer options
6)Tap to mark USB debugging
7)Go back to Settings menu
8)Click on your phone’s model.
9)Choose Connectivity
10)Tap USB connection mode option
11)Choose MSC mode
12)Download the appropriate kernel in order to flash your phone’s system.
13)Run a flashing software
14)Restart your device.
15)Close the flash tool before you begin the process.
16)Download an appropriate program to perform the process on your desktop.
You must avoid downloading just any app that you see. You must make sure that it is the most reliable one on the market. In this way, you can avoid making your device useless after the procedure has been completed.
17)Connect your device to your PC.
18)Open the program you have downloaded at step 16.
19)Flash the kernel by running a flash tool on your device.
20)Complete the process.
21)Restart your device.
Hit Thanx if Helpful
Just use this one click root tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219781
No downgrades and flashing anything. Just connect your phone and press the button.

i tried with the last one.
i am in Greece.. if i flash it with the stock ICS 6.1.1.C.1.0 file which i found here and it's from T-mobile Croatia, i think that my sim will not work..
My XU is simlocked with Orange - Poland and works great with any region ROM (sometimes GPS needs fixing). Have you tried ADB restore root method from Flashtool? For some reason bin4ry never works for me, but Flashtool one (isn't it the same script?) always works.
Cheers.

You need JB Kernel for booting JB ROM , you use ICS kernel to boot JB ROM which is impossible , so you have to flash back stock ftf to retain back your device
Edit : You need to unlock BL in order to flash custom kernel

If you are worried about unlocking your bootloader, then flash ROMS which can be used on both locked and unlocked bootloaders.
For eg: Xperia Ultimate HD 5.0,
Ice Cream Pureness..
And there are a lot more ROM for Locked Bootloaders too. I prefer Xperia Ultimate HD 5.0 with Stock kernel as it giving good battery life.
I get about 2.5 days battery life under normal mobile usage.
