Is that a screen shot? It looks good to me. You would have to take a picture of the problem with a camera to show us how it looks to you.

NO, IT IS NOT NORMAL. There is an issue with the gnote and its black's. I would like to say 8 of 10 ppl are dealing with it. You can see the black blotch is very clear on the right side of your picture. No phone should do this. A fix should be coming with ICS, I hope

There is no guarentee that there will be a fix for ICS. Most likely, we will have to deal with it.

is it this bad with everybody?
Yes it is this bad. Mine is the same or worse on ics.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yes its pretty bad. The lower the brightness the more visible it is on my note. Its kind of a buzkill when looking at my wifes HOXL and seeing perfect blending and no blotchy blacks.
Its gotta be a software issue, cuz I think I read somewhere the one x and note use the same panel tech right?
Sent from my SGH-I717R using xda premium
Sadly, the black crush problem, or "black clipping," is a very well known issue on both the i717 and n7000 Notes. It doesn't look like the official ICS update is going to fix the problem, but at least one n7000 developer, Supercurio, says he may be able to fix it once we have the official ICS source code.
Even though the problem affects nearly every Note, Samsung has never even acknowledged that the problem exists.
Keep your fingers crossed...

You should have seen the transformer prime forums when that launched. Damn that was bad and not even a phone..
I just avoid the problem threads. I have no issues that i notice so i figure why go looking for them. If they are pointed out to me I'll be annoyed even if it previously didn't affect me.

Exactly. Put me down in the zero-issues column. If I notice something, I'll search for a solution, but I won't go chasing after device hypochondria.
Agreed. I've had mine since May 24th and have had 0 issues.
The sad thing is is everyone will jump on board in a problem thread, but then again, those that are enjoying there new toy and have 0 issues won't post a thread just to say this is awesome.
With that being said, we are still within the first 2 weeks of launch, and only 2 days past the official launch date. The dev community is getting geared up, and there are still a lot of great dev's waiting to get their devices.

Evryone wants a perfect phone I been thru a lot release from the OG evo, to the 3d, iPhone 4s, and galaxy nexus, and man they all the same... Do you have dust under screen? Is your screen warm or blue? Do you see lines? Does your speaker does this?, people going over 3 iPhone or Evos and there still no happy, I seriously don't know if I'm just lucky or I really don't noticed anything cause I never had a problem like that, for example when the 3d came out they said the screen was tilted, I don't freaking now how much time you need to have to noticed that cause to me it was normal, or the "screengate" on the iPhone forums, idk man my phone is good best reception since og evo and talking and browsing the Web is amazing when you use it so I'm happy evo owner

Yet another useless thread...why oh why lord?!?
I know I shouldn't have even bothered with my useless reply...my apologies...
Mine would spontaneously reboot, maybe 5-10x in the first 24 hours I had it. Yes I did factory wipe. No I didn't restore any apps, root, or even install an SD card.
So I exchanged it, and this one seems solid, not a single reboot. I'm convinced there was something wrong with the first one.
With that being said, I love this phone.
I think I have a bum phone.
The stock browser disappears quite a bit. Text wrapping for the browser, gmail app and others isn't right. I have to swipe left and right to read.
Sense launcher has long reload times when exiting apps.
My screen is slightly protruded at the top right corner and the battery life for me yesterday off a full charge only lasted eight hours. Normal work day of checking emails, a few phone calls, browser look ups etc. No games or heavy use.
I'm going to exchange it as soon as I have time.
Stock not rooted or anything.
I miss the search button but have mostly got used to the dots.
Anyone else having a nightmare of a time with video recording? Compared to my original one x it's very choppy and loads of picture noise. Very very disappointed. Think I might sell it. I don't find anything else, apart from jellybean, worth the upgrade to be honest.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Hmmm i thought they might actually have tweaked the camera at least on the software side of things to make it better than one x but this turns out to be just the opposite ! Anyhow thanks because these days only real user opinions can be trusted not those reviewers !
I don't know what's going on, my HOX+ records very well... I have to guess if
1) users do something very wrong
2) there are some faulty devices out there
3) the want to troll the HOX+
Don't forget it's a smartphone and no DSLR, so you will need enough light for pics, but that's the same with all similar decives with this small sensors out there...
Mine is very very fast, get's warm but never in any way hot, battery life is great and recording of stills and video is excellent compared with other smartphones...

I love my one x camera. Stills and video are great. The one x+ stills are not quite as good but I can live with it. It's not bad by any means but the video recording is very poor. Can't live with it like this. Going to do a factory reset and see if that helps. If not I'm going to try and exchange it. I'm thinking I might have a faulty device.

Maybe a third party video recording app can fix this?
Any suggestions for 3rd party apps?
I shouldn't have to rely on them but it's worth a shot.

You might want to try this one.
Thanks. Will check it out. And report back.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Just checked the app you suggested. It's definitely better. Love the fact you can alter the bitrate. It seems to solve the blockiness and noise. Although im only checking on my phone as I'm not at home to try it in my tv. Unfortunately the chopiness is still there. Most annoying. Will have to check more when I'm home. You guys who are having no problems, what are you comparing the video recordings too? Which phones?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Just an update.
I've exchanged the phone for a new one and the stock video camera is still definitely far inferior to the original one x. Not sure if it's just a software problem but I assume it is. Can anyone else with both phones confirm this to save my sanity please.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I'll try it tomorrow and report back.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
Almost guaranteed to be a software issue. HTC just looooooves to compress the living hell out of everything without giving an option to remove compression.
Thanks. Try and compare on a tv if possible
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem with poor choppy video. I did a side by side comparison with the original HOX and the video is much better than the HOX+.
Anyone else having disappointing video recording on the one x+?
And also has anybody got any 3rd party camcorder apps to recommend? I'm using LG cam at the minute but it seems a bit buggy.

Agreed...mine is terrible too. Most certainly the software. Trying Procapture, as the app listed earlier in this thread just crashes when I click on the advanced options.

Thank god I'm not going crazy. Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I'm a bit worried that not enough people have noticed this to bring it to HTC,s attention.
Hope they fix it soon or I might just keep my one x and sell this.
Shame because I love everything else about the phone.

Internet full of examples about faults of HTC ONE:
buttons not working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v5Oc5-7rbA&NR=1&feature=fvwp
proximity sensor not working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otsa0_gkVI8
faulty edges: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwOu5oXpjVQ
Is it really so bad or it is just some unlucky cases?
Is there any more problems with that device and could anyone confirm issues above?
I've had mine for 6 days now. Everything works perfectly. No build issues either.

I've seen a couple of threads here and there in regards to multitasking, however the responses are all over the place. Before I actually go and return my S4 for a One, I would like to know how well multitasking works. Are apps still constantly refreshing? Some say that HTC has still implemented their aggressive memory management functions into the software (not as bad as the One X though) and some report that it works perfectly well. The phone seems amazing and all, but if it can't multitask then it is an absolute deal breaker for me. Same reason why I returned my One X at the time. Anyone who has had the device for some time care to shed some light?

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if they fixed it later down the road or whatever, but it was known that the One X would constantly refresh apps. There are a plethora of threads on this. I find it odd how you never had a problem.. or maybe you just weren't as picky as the rest of us?

The apps I multitask with have been doing fine. The HTC One X was very aggressive but it is noticeably lighter on the One.
OCD kicked in and I actually went purchased one for retail price. If anyone was still wondering, it seems that apps are still refreshing, but not too aggressively. I need to test it for a day or two to see how it fares with the S4 when running games and so on. On the other hand..my God are the speakers amazing..
