i just rooted my phone, and while exploring the folders i found 2 files that says "video" so i deleted one of them. After that i wasn't able to play any video on the stock video player. I've tried formatting my phone and downloading the stock video player but it still doesn't work..
Could anybody please help me figure out what's wrong with it
Were these files in the sd card or the system files?

I have comm rom on my fascinate and tons of songs on my sd card, but when i use the music player it doesn't have all the songs in the library. why is that? is there anyway to fix it? or make it work?
Double check the formats of your music to make sure its .mp3 or similar. Good place to start.

the formats are all .mp3
I can confirm this problem. The songs are there but the music player doesn't show them. A tiny bug...

use root exploret or similar and go into your sd card and delete the android folder and reboot. This fixed it for me. I've also had a problem where sometimes it would show the same song multiple times and it would fix that too.

I have tried various apps. I have been able to connect to my network browse all files. Its just when I go to play the file it says wrong format. The funny thing is I can place these files on my vibrants SD and play them fine...
I am using trigger redux cm7 and loving it!!!!!
Anyone lol?

Files will stream if they are encoded to do so and are in a format that the vibrant can play. Mp4 files with the file info in the header would be your best bet.
Another option would be to use a streaming server/client solution like box stream and convert.it is available in the market.

What do you mean by "in the header " and I tried getting both those apps couldn't find anything pertaining to streaming or encoding.

When you have the Vibrant then you have AllShare preinstalled...you use it?
Cause with AllShare you can watch all the vids that are on your PC via Mediaplayer...all you have to do is, add the Moviefolder to the Mediaplayer Libary and you are good to go.
I have no trouble at all streaming everything to my phone, only old codec versions like XVID or DIVX are making problems, but those are really old.

i'm having the same problem and i can't find any real answer, sgs2 supports playing mkv's, but when trying to play using allshare it doesn't.
i tried a stupid way which doesn't make any sense just rename the file at the end with .avi
even it's a mkv. it will be played.
but then the rename should be done from the pc or if u have a wifi explorer that can do the trick.
hope this helps
If you use Serviio, it should be able to recode it to a suitable container on the fly.
The only way I know how to play mkv's the closest to the way you want is to use Skifta as a Allshare replacement and a different video player. I personally use MX Video Player. Both are better then the stock apps they replace

Guys try Arkmc
It's much better than Samsung's ****y allshare app

Hi everbody.
I have Sensation with Android 2.3.5 right now. And there is a problem I couldn't solve and find any solution about it.
Some of my musics don't show up on library no matter which music player I use. These songs don't have any particular property that can cause it. Half of the songs of same album or different bitrates or same bitrates or same tags or different tags. It's just mixed at all.
I can see and play these songs using file explorers.
Different roms don't change anything either. Sense or CM.
Deleting and copying music files again or tagging again didn't solve.
Formatting SD card didn't solve.
Deleting cache of MediaProvider.apk didn't solve.
Changing file manes or folder didn't solve.
I use cover art downloader to refresh mediastore everytime but it doesn't stick.
I'm tired of it.
I'm open to the ideas...
What is the format of your songs that can't play normally?

I don't have this problem. I have up to 22mb mp3, 512kbps bitrate, mp3 or flac format.. btw, I use Google music.
If you try to search the music using search option in music app, will it work?

Mines are V0 Mp3 and their size are up to 15 MB. Average is 8 MB. Totally 1567 songs.
Search can't find them either because they're not included in library.
Btw, there are people who have that problem on the net. Even on Google forums(I don't know exact name) after long conversations still no solution as far as I read.
So no one has any clue?

Tried an hour ago, it added the missing songs to the library. Just came back to check if it's still ok but no luck. They dissapeared again.
unfortunatly I am kinda having same problem but I think mine is a bit more irritating. ever since I updated to gingerbread on my thunderbolt all and I mean all my music was misscatigorized, band names changed ,song names changed. it appears that the only ones that didnt change were one that had all info even album art. even newly downloaded songs are misscatagorized. im considering deleting the stock player all together . who the hell has the time to go threw and re name everything or re download .

So I've flashed stock jb roms. And the picture gallery and the video player app won't detect any video o photo before I flashed the Rom. I have to use quickpic to see my old pictures.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
Oh music isn't showing up either in the native music app

check if you have any .nomedia file in your pictures folder..enable the file explorer to see .(dot) file..if yes delete it and reboot..
This is the only option I can think of right now..
No there isn't any .nomedia files. It's really weird. And I've done factory resets. Permission fix and all wipes. And stuff..

I had this exact same problem only it was with my rooted Thunderbolt. Even now on my non-rooted Galaxy S3, I cannot view any of my old images from my external sd card (that used to be in the Tbolt) thru Gallery but still must use Quickpic. Wish I had a fix for it, its driving me crazy.
