My tablet has 8GB of onboard storage and is partitioned. 1GB as "tablet memory" and the other 6GB (approx) as an "internal SD" with the remaining for the ROM. Just recently I noticed that the 6GB partition went missing. It is no longer available to me. However, the tablet restarts and loads the ROM just fine. It also loads my external sdcard just fine too. I'm guessing something is wrong with the partition table? Or is the hardware toast?
I figure since the 1GB is still showing up that it isn't a hardware failure, but I'm not sure. I tried reinstalling my ROM, factory resetting, mounting the internal sd and nothing works. What can I do? The tablet is an Ainol Aurora 8GB model running Essential Clean Rom 1.1a. I tried just to forget it and make due with using just the 1GB and my external SD card but when I try to download apps from the Amazon Market it says that there is no SD card (internal) and that I need it. I didn't try Google Play yet...
Update: when i go wipe the system in CWM it says no apps2sd partition found and something about /sdcard .android secure. Does that have anything to do with it?
Try another ROM basically one stock ROM and after try a custom ROM.When you flash the stock ROM use repartition.IMO that's all.I hope this solution work for you.

Thanks for that. I'll see if restoring the stock rom helps. I doubt it though. I've tried 2 different ones (not stock) and it didn't do anything at all...

Hi Andie00, did you ever come to solution to your problem, as I'm experiencing something very similar with CM 10.2 my internal storage just disappear and I can't see it. Otherwise ROM works very well and fast, don't wish to switch to CM 11 which is more buggy in other ways.
Problem gone when I make factory reset/data wipe it worked until next reboot of device.

UPDATE: I find something interesting, if I remove my external SD card physically from device and than reboot phone, Internal Storage return to where it should be, and if I insert external SD after this, it become available as well and phone see 2 internal storages and external SD card.
If reboot device, in Settings > Storage I see first Internal storage normally, second is blank and external SD is visible.
Any idea why it happens and how it can be fixed?
Problem seems to be solved
answering my own yesterday's question
posting this for anyone who facing similar problem, maybe my experience would be helpful for someone.
I've tried to insert different SD card and reboot with it, and after this my internal storage remained visible. so I plugged my sd card to PC, examined it and moved from it to safe place all files which shouldn't belong there. for example I find out external SD contain .android_secure folder with 1.6gb of remains of old programs, though I never installed them to external SD, also I removed folder Android which contain just empty folders without files.
After this boot with that flash was successful and I can see both internal storages and external SD, and now I can use CM 10.2 on my Samsung gt-i8160 which works blazing fast comparing to stock firmware, phone never was so responsive no matter what I did before!
Hope it can help someone.
I posted this in regards to an old Ainol tablet I had. My "solution" was to put back the stock rom.

Thanks for response, Andie00! Glad I don't have to use your solution, so far my phone working better than new on CM10.2
Note: This post has been updated with the solution. Please see end of post for original.
Warning: This following instructions are provided “AS IS” with no warranties. Please continue at your own risk.
Following the return of the datadata partition in Jellybean for the Vibrant (and Galaxy S variants), there have been a number of cases where users are faced with a low internal storage notification after a fresh install even with a full wipe. Due to a corrupted partition table, the /data partition formats to ~80mb instead of 1gb. This guide provides a fix to this issue. Following these steps will remove every partition from your internal SD, so Odin can make fresh ones from scratch.Doing so will completely wipe all data on internal sd (music, pictures, etc.), please make backups accordingly. Remove external sd before starting.
REQUIREMENTS
Working Galaxy S drivers on computer
Odin3 v1.85 that recognizes your phone
Stock JDF .tar image and stock .pit file: Please see Woodrube's sticky @ dev section.
Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar image: Please see Woodrube's sticky @ dev section.
Android SDK (only adb is required)
Access to CWM on current ROM
Make sure all drivers, adb, and Odin is set up prior to proceeding!
PROCEDURE:
Perform all necessary nandroid backups, internal sd backups, etc.
Connect phone to computer via USB, then reboot phone to recovery (cwm).
On your computer open up an elevated command prompt, and browse to the adb directory.
In command prompt type each of the following lines and press enter:
Code:
adb shell
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
print
rm 1
rm 2
rm 3
This will remove all the partitions on your internal SD. To make sure, type "print" again, and check if there are any more partitions left. If there are, type "rm X", where 'X' is the number of the partition that is left.
Close command prompt and open up Odin.
On your phone enter download mode, and let Odin recognize the device.
On Odin, add the Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar file in the PDA slot, and hit start.
After the flash has succeed, the phone will reboot into recovery and warn you about internal storage not being ready. This is expected.
Pull the battery, and enter download mode again. Reconnect phone to your PC via USB if you have disconnected it.
On your computer, close and re-open Odin, and this time add the stock JDF .tar in the PDA slot, and the stock .pit file in the PIT slot. Make sure re-partition is checked, and hit start.
After the flash your phone will be running stock JFD will newly created internal SD partitions.
From here it is the usual matter of flashing cwm, then flashing whichever ROM you choose!

Howdy folks,
So I updated from CM10 Nightly 9/16 to 10/3 on my T-959. When I check Settings>>Storage, Internal Storage shows total space as only 82.66MB. Available in said storage is a mere 19.85MB. It's a fresh install with the default kernel; I haven't even updated any of the apps yet. Is this to be expected?
I understand there has been some sort of partition remapping in the last few nightlies. But scouring through the official CM10 thread in the dev section, people are saying they have around 400MBs in theirs.
I flashed a couple of times with CM10 10/3 as well as SlimBean 2.6 (both have the same partitioning, I believe). Nothing really changes the total internal storage. When the updated start rolling in from the Play Store, for example for the YouTube app, I'm faced with the insufficient storage error.
Any help is appreciated. I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. If this is a n00b issue, please educate this poor soul.

Sure did. I flashed it again, rebooting to recovery. I reverted to CM10 9/24. Total space under internal storage in Setting>>Storage shows 422MB. Is that the right amount for the older partitions? What am I doing wrong?

CM10 roms now use that partition scheme, with ~400MB system partition.

But see that's the problem. With the latest nightlies I am not seeing it. On CM10 10/3 I am getting a measly ~80MB of total internal storage, according to Storage in Settings. I'm seeing the ~400MB in nightlies before 9/26. Thanks for the reply.

Same problem, i think
I've been having the same issue. Suddenly one day my phone couldn't mount the internal storage or the /mnt/emmc in cwm. Been trying everything, but nothing seems to work. My PC can only see the extSDcard too. Help! All my apps and photos were on the internal!

You are fine, in the right section etc. I was just saying your issue with internal SD not mounting is different than the op having a "low storage error".
Anyway you are continuing to update with cm10 so your internal SD is okay. When I first read your post I thought you couldn't access the internal SD at all like with the EU bug.

I don't know if it's the same and I'm not sure what the EU bug is. Updates doesn't seem to solve the issue.. Could you have a look on my thread and maybe see if you could help me out?

Obviously your internal SD isn't corrupt or you wouldn't be able to flash cm10 nightly. In recovery /emmc is the external SD card I believe. So try to mount the /sdcard and see what happens.
The encryption unsuccessful (EU) bug is an issue galaxy s variant devices have experienced on ICS that completely locks/makes the internal SD card unusable. They have a work around to allow the device to use ext SD as the internal SD.

Looking at your thread again I noticed an issue. You posted 1.97gb internal storage. It should be .98gb based on the latest cm10 partition scheme. Do a full wipe and flash a different JB ROM and see what happens or reflash cm10. Again wipe data factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and format system then flash.
*don't try and format SD card or emmc in recovery, you will lose everything*

I tried to boot in recovery, went to "mount" options and pressed the "mount sdcard" but it didn't change anything when i rebooted. My galley and camera app still says "no external storage available". And the "storage" setting still can't "mount SD card".
So full darvik cache and cache wipe and then which ROM?
I'm not sure if I asked but do you have a front facing camera?
I think you might have to Odin to stock and start over. Also my camera app stores to internal SD not ext SD. ????

Yeah, I have the i9100, Galaxy SII model with front facing camera.
Hmm.. I was worried about having to full wipe or factory reset etc... guess I'll have to try.
And yeah, I've noticed that most ROMs can't use the extSD for saving pictures and downloads etc. You have to move to the extSD manually.
You have a gs2......then why are you in the vibrant threads?
You should do a factory data reset from recovery when flashing a new ROM....well at least with the vibrant. I'm not real familiar with the GS2.
Sorry....pm your rom dev or ask in your dev section.

Back on the OP, i face the same issue on a Captivate trying to run Slimbean 2.8 and 2.9 (haven't tried earlier versions).
Same 82.66mb internal, however "usb storage" accounts for the remaining space on the internal SD. I can install a few apps using Link2SD, but the internal still fills up with (what I assume to be) fragments of each app used for loading/cache (could be entirely wrong, fwiw)
Weird Partitioning

I have the same problem when flashing Helly Bean (latest version). My partinions are somehow messed up and I aswell only have 82,66mb space for apps :S Tried reflashing, wiping system, flashing stock cm10. Every rom with the new partition layout seems to suffer from this.
Thanks in advance for help
Next time you flash, go to mounts and storage and format /system,
/data and /datadata.
I'm assuming you have a vibrant.
You should have almost 3gb of space between these partitions and the ROM itself with gapps shouldn't be much larger than 250mb if that.
I approve this message.

I tried reflashing Helly Bean after formating /system /data and /datadata , the result was nonetheless the same as before :/ Also I own a SGS I9000, Looking at others on same rom I should have about 400 mb of storage for apps. Any idea what could have gone wrong?
Also I'm running Fishears version of CM10 now, it uses the old partition layout and that gives me ~400 mb storage, which actually according to a screenshot on the thread should be about 1,8gb.
Seems like all roms allocate most of my inbuild memory on usb-storage for some reason...
Thx for the help
Download storage analyser from the market and see what's in the partitions.

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with my VZW GS4. All of my storage seems to be utilized by "phantom" files. I was updating my playstore apps yesterday and I got a memory almost full error. I only have 1 GB pictures, .5 GB music, and .3 GB applications used. I know the system is using almost half of the my memory off the bat, but looking at the files above, it did not make sense that I would only have 300 MB left out of 9GB or so available to me.
My device was rooted, but was still on the VRUAMDK Kernel flashed after rooting. I had Titanium backup installed but did not actually do any backups. I had CWM manager installed and had one recovery that took up a small amount of memory, so I wasn't sure what would be taking up all my memory.
I decided I wanted to do a wipe on the phone after backing up my pics/music to see if i could wipe the memory and start clean. I wiped the device using the stock recovery app and the phone still only has 4.2GB free. I guess a wipe/factory reset does not clean EVERYTHING off the SD card. When I go into the Device Memory section in settings, it appears I have half of memory free, but it still lists 4.2GB available. I did a file usage analysis and it does not listed Could something I had done in CWM Rom Manager created some hidden files that wouldn't get wiped? Does the GS4 auto software update download to a hidden folder before being installed? The phone recently download the new ME7 firmware which I did not install yet.
Using an android file browser i've looked around the SD card system folders but I would have no idea what would be taking up so much room. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can I wipe the non-system partition of the SD card somehow? I am just not familiar with this and I wouldn't want to mess up the OS somehow.

Looks like a CWM recovery was sitting in root/data/media. I found this solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218

try to clear cache from your recovery or else reset to factory defaults, this trick worked for my wi-fi issues
hi,
i already tried that
this also happens on every other 4.3 ROM to me with and without jbx kernel
Got The same problem. Gallery and camera wont let me in
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app
I think this is an issue on all 4.3 ROMs, I have the same problem on Carbon 4.3.
thanks for the replies, then all 4.3 ROMs are just unusable
strange that noone complained about that in the DEV forums

This is not true.. Every 4.3 rom i have flashed has had storage1/storage0. My micro sd card is where i keep my mp3 music i listen to via player pro. Sd is where my custom ringtones i created are stored along with pics, etc. Works great. Listen, sometimes going back to the beginning and starting over with stock firmware flash is needed as these memory slots can get corrupted. I use titanium back up for any/all apps/data with out these issues. Or simply go back to stock and copy what u dont want to lose to your micro sd (root explorer) is great or simply plug phone into computer and create a new folder on desk top for your keeps. After copy, format sd storage (pull micro sd card first) or simply copy nothing to micro sd only to computer and format both sd/micro sd. (Recomend) Would for sure do factory reset, if using ss uninstall and start fresh. This is not a guaranteed solution, only a suggestion.. Seems to have worked just fine for me more than once.. And others with similar issue.

I have the same problem - only 1.28 GB of internal storage is seen by phone, even though it shows 13+ GB when connected to the PC.
is there anything that may help, (other then formatting everything) ?
I have already wiped cache/dalvic cache and mounted sdcard0 and sdcard1 in the CWM Recovery - didn't make any difference.
I'm running the latest CM snapshot. I've been getting the infamous "Insufficient Storage Available" error for a while not, usually with chrome. There are various solutions. The "delete /data/app-lib/<app>/lib" solution was working ok for me but I can no longer find chrome in there anymore for some reason. I've already moved every app that can be moved to the "internal" SD card. All the "solutions" are really just workarounds trying to clear space.
Is it possible to increase the size of the partition by re partitioning the internal storage?

You need to look at internal storage, not SD card storage.
So I did system dump today to explore the files on my computer see what's hogging all of my space.
Background: I have only have 13 apps installed.
What I found is that my data/data is 346 MB and my data/delvik-cache is 452 MB.
So the files installed by CM are getting more numerous and of greater size. Not sure what to do to solve this problem.

same issue here. davlik cache is similar to a cache of your applications so they start faster. So it doesnt matter if you move apps to SD, you'll still have davlik.
Also, many apps will still store data in internal memory eventhough the app itself is on SD. I wish there were a way to move the data.
Or as I initially suggested, re-partitioning.

well, there isn't ANY easy re-partitioning tool for android out in the wild that i KNOW of ... but, (at least to let you know) ... I'm currently still trying to _hack_ something together similar to the internal storage-partition upgrades that the other HTC One devices with MSM8960 recieved ... where they officially unified the /user partition with the internal /sd-card (fat) partition! ... it might take a few weeks until i have something to show around (as work keeps me very busy throughout the week), but i'm working on it.
just as a quick question so CM currently DOES put it's dalvik to the /user partition??? i thought they put it to /cache??? (at least on CM10.1 and CM10.2) ................ so feedback would be highly welcome
