[Q] Recovery mod doubt - Micromax A116

Is there any way to uninstall a recovery mod? I install ROM manager app and it says there are 2 installed recovery mods. CWM and TWRP. I want to remove TWRP. How can I do? It also shows that we need to update both mods but even if i ask it to update its not updating any of the mod. Can anyone help?

You can have only One recovery installed at a time. More than one is not possible. Must be an error.

Hi You can flash the stock rom via SP Tools and then flash the TWRP recovery via SP tool it will remove all other recovery and only one TWRP recovery will be there. After that you can flash whichever Custom Rom you want.

Dude power off your CHD. Now press volume down then volume up then power button. Now it will start booting into recovery and now press volume u now check which recovery you currently have if its CWM then leave it no problem. If its anything else and you want it to be replaced by CWM then download mobile uncle tools from playstore. Go to recovery update place the CWM image in the root and select this file. Your phone will boot and now you will have CWM installed.
If you don'y understand the process. Then check my guide on how to root + cwm noob friendly.
Hit thanks if i've helped.

Exactly.
Actually there's an option given in ROM manager to install recovery but then it shows that the Your phone doesn't support the Recovery provided.
I'm not so good at this...but just give it a try(at ur own risk)...
1.Download x-Parts.
2.Go to installs tab.
3.Click install CWM.It will download the cwm and install it.
4.Now reboot the phone.
5.Now you will see the SONY logo.
6.As soon as it gets brighter. Press volume-down button(I keep it pressed till I boot into recovery).
7.If you see the cwm recovery, you're successful...Congrats and Enjoy...
Press thanks if I helped...

after downloading cf.root 6.4 and flashing it via odin, still shows black screen.
Question - considering that i have flashed cf.root 6.4, will the procedure below brick my phone?
- install CWM 6.0.3.1
- reboot into CWM recovery
- install custom rom
Please advise me, mates...

You cannot install CWM recovery unless you root your phone. . Did you try going to recovery using button combo?? Sometimes, if roots after you manually go into recovery.
If not done, download Galaxy S3 unified toolkit and root using that.

If the cf root procedure was successful I wouldn't worry about installing a diff recovery just yet, lets get the phone booting 1st. Download a custom rom and get it moved onto your external sd card, Boot into recovery(from power off, press volume up, home button and power), make sure its custom and not default. Then install the custom rom zip and reboot it should hopefully fully reboot. then look into installing a newer custom recovery.

If the recovery has been updated to the custom CWM recovery then yes you could flash a rom which will come with root and super user. But it must be the custom recovery if your still on the stock recovery u couldn't flash a custom rom.

Ohk, is the recovery stock recovery or custom (CWM) recovery. Anyways, try to wipe data and cache and boot. If not successful, install a custom ROM. But make sure the recovery is CWM recovery.

yes, saw it. its a custom rom. tried wipe data / cache but didn't work. will try to install custom rom sentinel now.
was able to install the custom rom but kept on rebooting after few minutes. it already happened thrice now.
anything i am missing?
It could be the insecure kernel you used earlier is making it unstable, probably if the custom rom doesn't install a kernel. Only thing I can think of is install an official Samsung g3 rom which should repair all the partitions that might of been damaged or corrupted, use it for a while to make sure no reboots. Then go through root and install of custom rom again. In theory creating a good foundation to install a custom rom on.
Just out of curiosity did u download an official Samsung rom before starting to flash in case u need to send it away or sell it on? If not what network/country are u using? Is the phone locked to the network or unlocked?
Edit:- I never used a kernel flash to root my phone just used cf root 6.4 to get root and custom recovery cwm. I only changed my recovery this weekend to Phil touch.

You cant use ics stock recovery to root… they fixed the whole for the update way when ics4.0.4 came out.
Have you tried the recovery in my faq thread… ill look and see if it will work with the 3g model.
Edit… .not sure if that recovery i have in my thread will work..its for the wifi model..but why dont you find a recovery in the threads and if its a zip… pull the boot image and there you go..

Odin a recovery… any new recovery. I suggest twrp. Then use adb to or what ever to push a rom to the tablet. Use the new recovery to flash the rom zip.

i am not an expert. but try installing rebooter or gravity box and use boot to recovery from that.. if u cant goto recovery by pressing voume+ power key during power ON, u may need to flash recovery again..
