I would recommend taking a look at this thread for the LG-C800, it includes how to root the device, install Clockworkmod Recovery, and some ROM's such as Unofficial Cyanogenmod 9 that you can then flash. Let me know if you still have questions.

Thanks Shimp
that thread doesnt give instructions for rooting it just says to use SuperOneClick to root my device
however I havent found proper instructions for rooting my phone though
or is it simple enough to simply click root while its connected via usb or do I need to enable other options
[maybe go into recovery mode or something?]
thanks for the help

bumpskies for some help

For SuperOneClick what you can do is download it from the thread I linked to, then download and install the LG adb drivers in the thread, then make sure USB debugging is enabled in the system settings app either under development options or the applications section depending on the version of android your running. After you have done that you can run SuperOneClick and select the Root option to root your phone. Once the process completes you should be rooted and ready to install a custom recovery and then custom ROM.

After a quick look there doesn't appear to be any new ROMs for the LG-C800, however you can install the old ROMs I linked to previously using Clockworkmod Recovery.

Rooting stock V20C (2.3.3)

Hi folks...
According to reports on this forum, some people seem to have managed rooting their stock 2.3.3 roms.
However, I don't seem to be able to do this
I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C, and it looks like I have a perfectly working Gingerbread installation, but when I try to root (using Gingerbreak, which I thought should work), nothing happens (Gingerbreak keeps running without changing anything).
In the DEV forum FAQ, there is no information about rooting GB roms (yet).
If anyone who successfully did this, would care to comment, I'd be very much obliged
thanks

Either that or do this:
in ADB:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
then open superoneclick and root (using psneuter).
Thanks, that worked fine. First time I tried I had some problems but I must have done something wrong

Doktornotor seems to have disappeared (deleted?) and his signature's gone with him also, it's impossible now to search on his username.
Does anyone have a link to the thread where he describes how to root by flashing? I'm probably too stupid to wrap my head around the search function on this site because I really can't find the thread. (by the way I don't think it was the general thread where he tells you how to flash gingerbead)

[Q] rooting my Galaxy S II

Hello everyone,
I had like to know how I can root my phone, now you may treat me as whatever you like, however, I just got this phone and am looking for a thread which will explain the rooting process of this phone. I am a very quick and fast learner, so, if you could just direct me towards the right thread it would be very helpful.
Thanks for your time.

Have a look at the xda bookmarks in my signature. In there you will find links for both CF-Root, which you flash using Odin, and Easy Rooting Toolkit, which is a 1-click method. Both Odin and the 1-click method require drivers installing on your PC, so you'll need to install Kies first as this includes the relevant drivers.
Just take your time reading through those threads and pick whichever suits you best.

Follow these quick steps to root without increasing your custom binary counter:
1) Download DoomLord's zergrush exploit package from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
2) Follow instructions and your phone is rooted, no need to flash anything
3) If you need to flash custom ROMS after rooting then buy 'mobile Odin' app by chainfire from market and enjoy Android.
Hope it helps

You can try rooting it using either Gingerbreak or SuperOneClick. The chances of bricking your device using these tools a very minimal make sure you read the instructions for the tool you are going to be using in the threads I have linked (If your going to use SuperOneClick download the file, unzip it to the desktop, connect your phone, make sure USB debugging is checked on, then press root and wait till it completes, when it tell you it is done reboot your phone and you should be all set). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about upgrading to ICS or JB for your device. Good luck though

To do reverse tethering you need to be rooted and use this app to do it through USB. Sure I can try and give you a detailed explanation for rooting your phone, which method do you intend to use I would go with SuperOneClick I have the most experience using that.

I have tried SuperOneClick with this phone. It does not work. Micromax android phones are usually rooted with UnlockRoot but we need to make the boot.img insecure first. Please help us with obtaining a rom or boot image dump and getting it insecure. If that's done. We can flash it back to the phone and Unlockroot will be able to root it. WE ARE CLOSE!!

[Q] .:New Method to root Andoid:.

Hello,
I am currently using the Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300. Bought this device last April. At that time I was completely new to rooting device. I didn't know what to do. I searched online about rooting device, read many post by users in various blogs and threads here in XDA. Then I was very curious to root my device. But even then, though i knew what rooting was and its merits and demerits, i had no idea how to root my device. So I started searching again for an easy and fast way to root my device. Then I came me across the framaroot thread here and thanks to the developer of Framaroot, I was able to root my android safely without any problems. It was a very useful app for beginners who had no idea about rooting.
After few months, I received a firmware update. I had no idea what changes it would bring about in my device. In a hope to find out the new features, I updated the firmware. But sadly, there wasn't any noticeable change. So once again I seeked the help of framaroot to root my device. I was left with an error message and didn't know what to do. Again by searching on Google, I came to know about the OTA update about which I had no idea prior to the firmware update. I realized that the OTA update was a curse to Android rooting and I was left with my boring stock rom without anything. Today again I searched all over the Internet for a very safe and easy method to root my device but couldn't find anything like the framaroot. So here I am kindly requesting, the deveopers to kindly update the already existing methodsor make a new easy method to root android devices so that people new to android can experiment and enjoy root features. Sorry for the long story, thought it might be useful by explaining everything in detail. Hope I have not violated any of the XDA rules. If I did, I apologise for that too but please don't remove this thread. It would be very nice if anyone can find a solution as there are many people in the same situation as I am right now.
Thanking XDA and all the developers for there services.

Thanks for the post. Nevers seen this before. I will surely try it out. I have heard about odin before but was not confident to use it as I thought it may brick my device. Is there any root apps like Framaroot that can help make the process a lot faster and easier without the use of a computer.

1- Its the fastest and most reliable method I femilliar with- just follow the vid orders step by step (according to your device model), and no harm
should be made (unless you plug out your device in the middle of the process, or using a different model type- but even those can be resolved).
2- No apps that I know. Although i would not recommend it even if I found one- just seems too riksy than using the computer...
Basically all the OP questions are answered in the faqs and guides .
Root is constantly updated as and when possible but its not a simple question of just making a new one . Read the relevant root threads .

If it was only that easy on S3 would save a lot of trouble ..yep follow instructions in thread and use PhilZ .tar.md5 not the zip file and if you are flashing CM 11 you do not need to root the rom is already rooted.

[Q] Help unroot can't root again!

Hey guys, I have a little problem I tried to find the solution in other posts, but I didn't found it, so this is my last hope... I hope you can help me.
So I have an Asus Memo Pad HD7, and I rooted it using framaroot 1.9.3, then one day it appeared a firmware actualization in my notification bar, I updated NY android and then after some days I just wanted to check if the unroot option in the framaroot worked, well my mistake it worked to well, after I clicked I rebooted and them the supersu was gone and I had unrooted tablet again, but when I tried to root again it told me it was rooted and then after reboot it wasn't... I can't root it again
The weird part is that recently I made another firmware actualization and supersu appeared magically in my phone, I tried to start it, but it showed an error saying my phone was unrooted... then I uninstalled supersu and tried to root again, but I can't...
Please help!
P.s: I didn't instal any rooms and I already tried factory reset in settings.
P.s.s: The weirdest part is that people say they unrooted to do a firmware update, while I did it with my rooted tablet. And Avast says my device is running in high privilege mode, but Root Checker says it's not.
Please any help will be appreciated!
Without knowing which firmware you are on now, it's not really possible to tell you how to reroot correctly.

I provided the link to what you need already. It's on the 2nd post of the thread. It has a step by step with pictures. You need to unlock the bootloader and install the custom recovery so you can install the superuser zip. If you can't follow the picture guide, then you should really enlist the help of someone who does this for a living since this is your only tablet and are very unsure of yourself.
