I'm fairly embarrassed to even have put myself into this situation, mainly because I have no idea how I did it, and even less of one how to fix it.
My issue is this: I went ahead and unlocked the BL on the Rezound today, and then installed CWM Touch recovery (first). After that I went and installed CleanROM. Did the update in HBOOT like it told me to. No problem. After setting up the Rezound again, I loaded some music onto my memory card, and then noticed nothing showed up (media), so I decided to reset the phone. I used the power button to do so. So the phone rebooted.
Then it just sat on the HTC screen, which it now continues to do.
So what I have done is this:
Tried to reflash the ROM (no luck)
Tried using Amon Ra recovery instead (all I get is a black screen, but I know it is "working" because I hear my computer connect to it)
Tried flashing a different ROM (nothing)
Tried using the PH file from CleanROM to see if it would boot up (nope)
So now I'm stuck, and I have no idea what happened!
Can anyone help, or is this thing toast?
It's worth noting that the only recovery that seems to work is CWM (touch or not), Amon Ra won't display anything on the screen (both 3.14 and 3.13). Also that when it turns on the HTC comes up, then disappears and comes up again.
I have been searching and trying things for about two hours now, so at this point I'm ready to chuck it in the trash.
Edit, nevermind read that wrong, it isn't in a bootloop.
Try to flash the kernel from fastboot and see if that helps.

Yup, that's the only way I can get into recovery. It just tries to install it again and again if I don't.
My SD card has the CleanROM and the Stock Rooted Rom on it, nothing else.
Push the kernel through fastboot.

No dice. But I will try to install the ROM again, and then manually push the kernel rather than doing it on the phone.
Lock and run ruu if all else fails. Start ruu with phone in Hboot.

The phone doesn't need to be booted fully to run the RUU? I was going to run the .exe one and it said it needed to be on.
I'll try that, nothing else has worked.
Sounds like you need to push the boot.img using fastboot. If you dont have fastboot and all that installed you can get it from CleanFLASH 1.0. You need to make sure you have the correct boot.img or it will continue to be stuck. Also flashing it through hboot sometimes just doesn't work. Thats why you need to push it via fastboot.
Clean flash HERE
Just put the attached boot.img into the cleanboot folder. Open a command prompt into that folder. Put the phone in hboot and fastboot USB run the following command in the command prompt: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Note you must have the HTC drivers installed for fastboot to work.

Excellent, I'm pretty sure I ran the RUU without ever booting into the phone. Just make sure you have 2.01.605.11 because the older one wouldn't work. Thats if you can't get it to boot up flashing the boot.img.

Hmmm, mine does not do that.
So maybe that is the problem. I'm gonna restart my computer, now that HTC Sync has installed. Are all HTC Drivers the same? I had Sync installed from when I had an Inspire 4G, but maybe the drivers for the Rezound are different.
This could be my problem.

Hi, I just got my HTC ONE X+ from Taiwan. I forgot to do a Nandroid Backup before I accidentally flashed a boot.img from another ROM. So, i got stuck in a bootloop. At first I thought it was okay, I just need to flash the ROM which was downloading. I realised that my phone's TWRP Mount USB can't be detected by my computer!! So, I had no way. Fastboot commands whenever i try to flash something it says Command Write Failed Unknown error. for adb it says No Device Found. ADB devices: none. Fastboot: yeah i can see a device there. I googled HTC ONE X+ RUU. And was fruitless. Many are third party ROMs, and I'm not sure where to download the correct one. Even which to choose I'm not sure.
drivers installed?
There's a link on the TWRP thread you should have read before installing.
As Lloir says, do you have the HTC driver package installed? What recovery you have, should have no impact on how fastboot detects your device, just install drivers and flash a working kernel through fastboot.

Hey i got the same problem and to start here i'am a noob in this. This is my first Android device and my first time trying to install a ROM. I used Hasoons all-in-one kit, and unlocking to bootloader went fine, so did recovery and Perm Root. I tried to install Android Revolution HD 5.1, so first I tried to install the other firmware that was needed for it, that is 1.16.401.6. I did something wrong there i guess and its stuck at the HTC start up logo. I tried to make sense of the posts above but i couldn't. My PC doesnt recognize the phone anymore but if I use a command from the all in one kit it does still respond and i can use the power and volume down button to go into bootloader. I tried some things there but really dont know what I'am doing. If someone can help me to get a ROM installed or go back to factory settings from the phone atleast make it work again would be much appreciated. I think i installed all the drivers because it worked before and it still does respond to flashboot in all-in-one kit. Sorry for being so noob. and thanks for the help.

Could someone please post an idiot proofed set of instructions to do this.
I have the relevent RUU.exe file, but simply running it doesn't work.
I'm assuming I need to replace the boot.img that I flashed with a stock one, but I don't know how to get it out of the .exe file.
My phone is bootloader unlocked, and rooted, and I can get into bootloader or clockwork recovery, but I can't get any new ROM onto the device via USB.
I just want to start again from stock...

To be clear, running the RUU .exe proceeds normally and tells me there's an unknown error and it that it can't update my phone.

So I tried overwriting cwm with twrp using a few methods i found online. The last one was this link here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764398
I guess i didnt bother to see if it would work on our phone before screwing it up. Well anyway I ran that command and it basically wiped everything on my phone and Sense wont load up anymore.
I can boot into CWM still, and the phone boots up to the lock screen, but when i unlock it, it just goes to either a black screen or a white screen with green HTC written on it, then reboots.
What can i do to fix this? I have a backup saved on an external hard drive at home which i cant get to for another 10 hours -.-
But I tried running the "factory reset" option on CWM and it didnt help at all. Ideas?

U can only flash a Rom in custom recovery. And at this point u might not have the correct custom recovery on the device. Another thing is did u read the full instructions on how to run ruu? I wanna make sure that u don't run into any problems with this process

Is this an appropriate link for information on using the RUU?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890
Or do i simply connect via fastboot, and then run the exe for our phone?
Also, is this the correct RUU?
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec....55.17_18.20.95.55L_release_290329_signed.exe
Edit: Also, I have twrp 2.4.4.0 running on my phone now.
If you have TWRP working now on your phone, simply sideload an AT&T/TELUS rom of your chaoice and you should be good to go after that. Don't forget to flash the correspondent boot.img. Otherwise, yes this is the RUU you need for your phone. (CINGULAR)

Hmm, sideloading didnt seem to work. I have a file called "venom" on my phone now, but its still doing the same thing, and i cant get ADB to run again (adb devices returns nothing) to copy over boot.img either : /
im gonna try a few more times and then run RUU i guess...
edit: i ran RUU and it ran into an error, saying that the RUU isnt for my phone (even though it is?)
Attempting to run again. Will update with what happens...
edit2: same thing happened. What should i do at this point?
Exact error is:
Error [155] unknown error
rom update utility cannot update your android phone
please get the correct rom update utility and try again
Edit3: ok, this thing is really ****in with me. I was able to get sideload to actually work this time, venom installed and is booting up. Hopefully it makes it to the home screen this time >.<
You have to relock the bootloader and then run the ruu. http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec....55.17_18.20.95.55L_release_290329_signed.exe is the correct ruu for the at&t version. After the ruu is finished then you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery. Then flash away If you don't relock the bootloader the ruu will fail and not install.

Hello
I got HTC J Butterfly from Japan and have been trying to get it working in Finland since.
We tried first to change the phone to Taiwan version (x920d), but the result was no good 2G.
The next step was to try to change to phone into Droid DNA,
Starting point:
DELUXE_J PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-KDDI_801
HBOOT-1.41.0000
RADIO-1.01.10.0201
OpenDSP-v6.120.274.0114
Original HTC J Butterfly ROM
What was done:
1. installed jdk1.7.0_25 and android sdk tools, platform tools and google usb driver (installer_r22.0.5)
2. installed ViperDNA 1.3.5 ROM (via CWM recovery from external sd card)
3. installed engineering HBOOT (see below)
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip xxxxxx.zip
4. installed twrp recovery: twrp-htc-dlxj.img
5. modify (CID: 11111111 and IMEI and MEID according to my phone) in mmcblk0p5 block file and copy to /dev/block with dd:
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p5 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 (copied to /sdcard/ with adb push in recovery mode)
NOTE1: HERE ADB STILL OK
6. fastboot oem writemid PL8320000
NOTE2: HERE ADB CANNOT BE USED ANYMORE
NOTE3: phone was encrypted and asking for password (cleared by formatting internal SD)
7. flash firmware
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip dna2.06firmware.zip
7.1 installed twrp recovery: twrp-htc-dlx.img
8. installed engineering HBOOT (see below)
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip xxxxxx.zip
Current situation:
MONARUDO PVT ENG S-OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-1.39.2000 (PL8320000)
RADIO-1.01.04.0308
OpenDSP-v6.120.274.0114
No ROM currently
Fastboot USB (OK)
ADB (NOK)
USB connection (NOK)
- cannot connect to device from Windows 7 or Windows XP, because the phone/device is flashing as portable device called:
WPD FileSystem Volume Driver
What I would like to do is to flash ROM.
but since I cannot transfer any files to the system it seems to be impossible.
I can flash in fastboot, because that is working just fine.
Any ideas how to proceed are more than welcome !?
Thank you
Can you run the RUU ? Or if can not because windows does not see it, run the RUU to extract the files to temp folder, then flash the zips manually via fastboot?

Currently I'm assuming there is no way to install ROM without working USB/ADB, because no replies.
If you know such method and needed files please let me know.
Thank you

In the OP step 5 I copied Droid DNA block file into my phone and then changed the mid. I was thinking that without putting back my original

Is there any RUU available for Droid DNA that could be flashed through fastboot ?

The idea was to try to make the phone working in Finland (the phone was locked to AU network in Japan). It did not work with x920d SW (2G NOK) and therefore decided to give the DNA SW a go.
Yes, the phone might be messed up, but still I would like to think there is a way to recover since the fastboot and recovery are working.
Thanks

Done and now I can open/extract the rom.zip. There are many .img files inside.
Now I need some help how to proceed ?
Please remember that the phone is S-OFF and engineering HBOOT is currently installed.
Do I need to change HBOOT ? What about S-ON ?
What is the best way of flashing the images ?
Thank you very much for your help.

You can try just flashing the whole zip. Do fastboot oem rebootRUU and then fastboot flash zip ruu.zip

AFTER fastboot flash zip rom.zip:
MONARUDO PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-1.33.0001
RADIO-1.00.00.1023_3
OpenDSP-v4.120.240.0920
eMMC-boot
fastboot flash recovery twrp-htc-dlx.img
TWRP recovery installed
fastboot flash zip PL832.zip
MONARUDO PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.39.2000 (PL8320000)
Unfortunately the USB/ADB is still unstable. Also it seems that the ROM does not boot up. The droid boot image can be seen. Then it goes away and I can see in the upper part of the screen USB debugging connected flashing...
Fastboot interface is ok, bootloader and recovery as well.
Let's see what could be the next step/try. Currently it seems that Droid SW cannot be used with HTC J Butterfly HW !?
All I can offer is they obviously have differences or the kernels would be the same. Try using the proper kernel for it and see if it proceeds any further in booting the ROM. Making it think its a DNA doesn't change the hardware itself, at a minimum the kernel needs to be the correct one foe the device hardware, not name, and maybe the ROM just to eliminate drivers and libs being incompatible as well.
Or is the kernel the same?

Hello everyone,
I rooted my One X+ a while ago. I have now relocked the bootloader for OAT purpose. The update was downloaded to the phone, but the update progress would not get pass the bootloader.
I learnt quite a lot about similar problems via various threads. It seems like a problem with the recovery, or rather the recovery is not present, because I am not able to go into the recovery from the bootloader.
I have tried to search a correct stock recovery image but have not had any luck for a while now.
Any advice would be much appreciated: am I right in assessing that the problem is with the recovery? or it is actually something else that I need to fix.
The software version is 1.17.206.1, cid is O2__001. HBoot 1.35.
Many thanks...
Look in the TWRP thread in original Android dev. I'm sure Lloir posted a stock recovery for both the International & AT&T devices

Thanks for pointing this out. Am I right in thinking that a specific stock recovery corresponding to the software version and cid would be needed? because I have actually tried flash the international version of the TWRP recovery as well as the CWM recovery, but neither made a difference to resovling the symptom.
No any international stock recovery will do. There all the same. Have you tried erasing /cache/ before and after you flash recovery? You can use the command "fastboot erase cache"

Thanks for the tip off. I have just tried it but it didn't make a difference. Running the update from the phone still rebooted straight to the bootloader, and recovery is not accessible from the hboot menu either.
It could be a corrupt misc partition. This kind of error is usually fixed by running an RUU. Do you know if there is one for you CID/Hboot version?

Thanks. I thought of this approach too, but my search for a correct RUU (i.e. O2 UK, software version 1.17.206.1) has not been fruitful. I did try an unmatched RUU (Europe_1.17.401.1) but it understandably failed.
Just a quick thought tho, the recovery images that I tried were both flashed successfully; i.e. no error messages. This seems to suggest that data were written into the disk successfully. But I am very puzzled...
