Random Get Apps! Icon -- Google Chrome Culprit? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been getting shortcuts added to my screen with a missing android app icon. When moving to a folder the name of the icon is "Get Apps!" Upon letting Addon Detector monitor the system, it appears that Google Chrome is randomly creating these missing app icons. I've cleared Chrome cache, data, uninstalled, and re-installed from the play store, however, it keeps randomly appearing. Anybody have any clue as to what is going on here? I doubt Chrome is the culprit, but I have nothing else to go by.

E-mail Widget shows blank e-mails

Has anyone else seen this/know how to fix it?
I am able to set up my e-mail account and see my messages when i open the app. But when i put a widget on my homescreen, it shows a bunch of "ghost" e-mails, all with a date of 12/31/69 - see attached. When i select one of them, it brings me to my e-mail, but the blank message isn't there.

I've tried deleting data through manage apps, but this doesn't fix anything.
Any thoughts? suggestions?

[Q] Can't cancel download

This is a new one...
Running CM9 here. I was trying to download a Ubuntu distro so I could install it, but as I was downloading, I realized my WiFi wasn't on.
So I started the WiFi and the download just hung. Now, the download shows up in the notification bar, and I can't get rid of it. I've tried rebooting, clearing caches and data from all my browser apps, uninstalling all browser apps except the basic one that came with CM9. I've tried running task killers and trying to find a service to kill.
Any ideas? Screenshot below...thanks in advance!

I think it came after I tried Pioneer's Rekordbox app, but I'm not quite sure.
I have uninstalled Rekordbox, rebooted several times, cleared cache and dalvik, but nothing helps.
When I turn on the phone it's there again..
I can't find it in the running list in settings > apps > Running
Is there a command or something to se what is running in the notificationbar?
Or do any of you know what the icon is?
That's NFC icon. You can remove it by turning off nfc in the wireless settings.
That's it! Thanks!
I just upgraded it to ICS and in GB there wasn't such an icon when NFC was enabled.
But nice to finally know what it is :victory:

Google Maps using a lot of battery

Has anyone else notices that Google Maps is showing as using a lot of the battery when they haven't been using it? This morning I rebooted my phone, left when it was 100% charged and did not open Maps once, yet this is the battery stats:

}
Edit: I am using Google Latitude, perhaps that is the problem?
Maps has become a hog on my Thunderbolt as well. It's not just the Note 2.
Well I went into location settings and turned off everything such as reporting from the device and keeping a history, I rebooted my phone and now Maps isn't even on the list.
