Maybe it's my radio, got any recommendations?

Flashing an EFS backup you made on a ROM with working GPS. There's a flashable zip to make a backup somewhere in the dev section, I think.

I have read conflicting information (and all claim to be definitive),
Do CWM Recovery Backups (specifically v5.0.2.6 included with CM7.1) backup and restore the kernel and modem?
In CM7, they do backup the kernel, but not sure about the modem.
As an experiment, make not of the modem (and kernel), make a nandroid, flash a new modem (and kernel), and restore your nandroid and see. It can't hurt.

Thanks, I'll do some experimenting
I use SGSKernel flasher (in the market) to backup the kernels in case I flash a ROM that has a different kernel attached to it but I like another one and am on the go.
I also keep a folder on my SD with the modems so that I can install from SD. But really they are all in the bible to freely download at will.

My bad. Missed that whole part that was in (...) that stuck out like a sore thumb. Sorry about that guys.
I have been trying to flash Imonseyon leankernel v5.1 for awhile now and I'm having issues... I don't know if the link doesn't work or what the deal is. I want the 184v undervolt bc I have been having crazy battery drain.. Everytime I flash it I get a status 2 in TWRP. Any suggestions..

What rom are you using?
If it's a Sense based GB rom, did you grab the Sense kernel?
If it's an AOSP GB rom, did you grab the Aosp kernel?
If it's an ICS rom, it won't work.
***EDIT
Via TWRP website:
Since TWRP 2.3 is based on AOSP jelly bean sources, TWRP now uses recovery API 3 instead of 2. Some zips may no longer work if the developer is using an out-of-date update-binary.
This API change should not be a problem on newer devices, but older devices will probably encounter several zips that need to be updated.
If needed, you can try using this update-binary that was compiled with current sources.
It goes in your zip file in the META-INF/com/google/android folder. If you're getting a status error 2 during zip install, then an outdated update binary is almost certainly to blame.

Ok thank you so much! FAST response lol. Would there be another recovery that is better to use or it doesn't matter?? Currently I am using your, I believe, ICS rooted debloated ROM stock/rooted. I was on liquidsmooth aosp and cm7 thundershed switching between them to get a feel for them... But for some reason I tried to do a full wipe and then reinstall from my restore of those two roms and try the leankernal, it's saying failed after I updated to TWRP 2.4.3
**EDIT:
Where is that zip you are talking about located.. In /system or somewhere else bc I can't seem to find it?
There is a backup bug in the latest release of Twrp. Switch to 4ext and your backups may work again. Someone posted on the n7 he could restore backups in Twrp from the previous version with the version he made them with but restoring backups on the latest version couldn't restore those

Thank you!
4ext is definitely the way to go on the Thunderbolt. Best recovery ever, wish the Gnex had it.

The zip I was referring to, was the kernel zip you were trying to flash.
And if you have run my rom, you should know I suggest using 4ext recovery.
It's mentioned in all my rom OP's.

Good luck with the 184mhz, I can not use that on my phone, always does the deep sleep of death.... thats not a good thing.
As for a ROM, I always suggest one of Santod's ... really any of them lol

Dude so far no problems with 184mhz.. Speed is no issue, no lag, no reboots, but I'll have to put it through the 24hr test to fully see how it does. And I charge my battery to 100% when installed it, approx. 4hr 41mins with pretty much none stop usage.. at 72% now. On the old kernal I would have been dead..
Well, I think I downloaded the wrong rom and flashed the wrong file. Here is what I downloaded and flashed:

For whatever reason, I thought it would work. In my brilliance, I didn't perform a backup. I still have access to TWRP, so what do I do? Also, does 4.3 exist for the Verizon flavor that is Google Play edition?
Thats for the i9505 international version. Theres some 4.3 ports in the dev section. Since you didnt make a backup of stock youll have to odin back to stock and start over. All the odin images are in the dev section as well.

Did you think it would work because of the "guide" on how to run other carrier's ROMs?
And no one else I know is working on Google Edition 4.3. Mine's not done yet and I've been to focused on 4.2.2's build recently. I'll get back to it eventually.
As far as a fix:
Install another ROM. If you are desperate for SOMETHING 4.3, then install cyanogenmod 10.2(either of the 2 unofficial builds)

Thanks gents. The only reason I'm itching for 4.3 is access to Bluetooth LE for my Fitbit. I used Cyanogenmod for a minute on 4.2 and it was amazing, but BT LE brought me back to stock. It lately started doing that Google Services using 70%+ of the battery, so I started hunting for a 4.3 rom.. in the wrong forum. WOOPS.
I'll probably go back stock until I can get 4.3 rom that has everything working.

I just flashed the latest version of Liquid, as it is just about the only one that has a working WiFi tether, but I don't have a camera. I am not sure what happened. I first did a clean flash and then i did a dirty flash over the clean flash incase there was an issue with something that went unnoticed. But to no avail. I have tried to flash a camera zip but still not working. Any advice. I like this Rom and don't want to ditch it.

Check the zip and make sure the camera app is included. I would try to wipe and reflash.

Hi there!
I'm a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 (bought in Israel) running 4.1.2 stock.
I've installed "Revolutionary S5 ROM V3" on it, but after a successful installation, the phone failed to recognize my SIM card, thinking there's no SIM card inside. I panicked and restored my NANDroid backup, and everything worked well, but how can I get Revolutionary S5 ROM (or any ROM for that matter) other than my stock ROM to recognize my SIM card?
By the way, I'm sorry I have to make a new thread about it rather than ask my question in the ROM's page, unfortunately it prevents me from doing so because of my low post count.
Thanks for your support!
Maybe an idea to search the threads before posting but since you asked nicely, http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5942 here is the link to the updated modem, flash revolutionary s5 then flash this file in recovery and there shouldn't be any issues!

Thank you for your support! I swear I've been searching and haven't found an answer before though. Can you tell me about this file? What does it do? Is it reversible if I flash back to stock again?
OK what it does is it changes your EFS to V2 (anything before Android 4.3 used EFS v1 that's why you get no signal) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5557 download this app on to your phone (credits to Ricky) and then backup your current EFS.... And then flash the new one to use with all Roms that are Android 4.3 or higher but if you choose to revert to 4.1.2 for instance you will need your EFS V1 backup to get signal back, so basically backup, then flash rom (it's amazing) and then the file I posted earlier and stick with it!
