First, I know all of this is mentioned in various areas of the forum. All I am doing is putting the process for using Xposed in one place.
This process definitely works on rooted ME7 Stock or Custom ROM's.
Requirements to do what I am showing below:
Rooted
XposedInstaller - Link
XQuickSettingsToggles - Link
XThemeEngine_beta5 - Link
GunmetalCobalt and other themes - Link
Wanam xPosed for mods like hiding battery - Link
1 and 2 are mandatory.
3 is required for the quick settings themes
4 is required to install themes such as 5. Gunmetal Cobalt which I uses as a base
6 if you want a wide variety of tweaks like colors of icons, hide battery, etc.
XposedInstaller
So, to get started you must first install XposedInstaller so follow these instructions or the ones on that thread.
Download and install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Reboot
Open Xposedinstaller and tap install/update to install the framework
Reboot
XThemeEngine:
Install apk just like any other application with your favorite file manager
Open xposedinstaller from applications and go to modules and enable xThemeEngine
Reboot
Install the theme of your choice. I used Gunmetal Cobalt
Install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Open xThemeEngine from applications
Choose theme
Apply theme
Reboot when prompted
If it does not look right do a full reboot
If signal bars don't theme use Wanam and change signal bars to 4
Optional: XQuickSettingsToggles
Download and install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Reboot
Open xposedinstaller from applications and go to modules and enable XQuickSettingsToggles in modules
Reboot
Go into XQuicksettingsToggles and choose a theme. I like Kalagas.
Optional: The clock is HD Widgets from market
NOTE1: If you don't get network immediately on boot then it is probably Wanam (???) so either wait or just reboot immediately.
NOTE2: Also best to use the power button reboot rather than the one in each app.
Enjoy
That setup looks a lot like business sense

So installed the XTheme and the XQuick settings .. Quick settings appeared to work fine, but no matter what I did I couldn't get the theme to apply entirely to the status bar (Cobaltx). How did you get it to theme the whole thing? Did it just work for you?

I used Wanam to change some options on the statusbar like hiding the battery icon which can make a difference.

I'll try a reinstall and see what I get. It was the battery icon, signal bars, and wifi bars that didn't work.

You may also need Wanam to change signal bars to 4 with cobalt
I tried this per the OP and GunMetalCobalt theme and it sorta made my Gmail and new messages titles un-distinguished and hard to decipher.
Also, the quick Settings tweak (assuming that's how you get the colors, ect... at the top of the notifications Pulldown, did nothing for me.

Here's an example, I switched to plain Cobalt but it's doing the same thing:
Also I tried xQuicksettings Toggles with setting theme as Kalagas but doesn't seem to change anything in the dropdown.

I would post in the Cobalt thread that there is a problem with the G-Mail theming.
Did you select enable at the top of thexQuicksettings setup screen?
Well as soon as I root this thing I will give this a try.
Im a theme junky for sure
Thanks for the step by step
I'm having an issue with the XTheme Engine where it only seems to be theming Icons. I downloaded a theme called Chromium from one of the theme threads here and the screenshot shows it theming almost the entire UI (Settings, Notification Panel, etc.) but I can not seem to get any of those changes to take effect by re-applying/rebooting etc.

Not all themes are going to work correctly unless the are specifically ported for TW and even then not all will work.
The Cobalt series seem to work best for me anyway when I also use Wanam

It was found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251952 which seems to provide only XTheme Engine themes.
Edit: I tried "Cobalt Gunmetal" from the first post with the same results. It themes a few of the status bar icons and some portions of the notification center and that is it.

I don't theme as much as I use to but there are a few things I thought could use a touch of custom for the VZW Note 2! To start I was looking for something clean and stylish.
Multi-Window:
I did mine in a smoke clear w/ text. I can probably do other custom colors like purple, pink, teal, or even team colors. If anyone is interested, please let me know and what color they like. I am also looking to maybe do some S-Pen pointer mods as well.
Status Bar:
Replaced the 4G icon with same color and Robot font
Replaced the CDMA signal icon (4 and 5 signal)
Replaced the Wifi icon. (Icon still shows 4 signal levels)
Replaced the battery icon (new look)
Removed the "100% Battery" icon in left corner
Replaced Bluetooth icons
Replaced Signal null icon
Removed idle upload/download arrows. All others remain
Removed Alarm icon
I have included a homescreen screenshot to show some of the changes. I also attached a full preview of the new icons. Looks much more crisp installed!
Installation is easy:
1. After you download, remove the prefix so that it only says "FlashBarService.apk" or "SystemUI.apk"
2. Copy the FlashBarService.apk or SystemUI.apk to your SDCard or Internal Memory
3. Using a powerful explorer (Root Explorer, Solid Explorer, etc), move the .apk to system\app\ from SDCard or Internal Memory
4. Power off Device. Pull battery and re-start. Enjoy!
Looks awesome, thanks!

You did a reset correct? Just to make sure, you can try clearing data in Applications Manager. Find com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService and press "Clear Data". If this doesnt work then I assume it's because it is a odexed rom.

I did reset...twice. After reading your reply, I also tried clearing data and still get the force close. So it must be an odexed rom issue. No matter, I'll just have all my apps in there, not a real inconvenience.

It puts your phone in lockscreen. Lockscreen shortcut so you don't have to use hard keys I guess. I don't like it so I don't use it, however I did notice it on the excellent deviant themes.

I noticed this too after I flashed a deviant theme. I also didn't like it and couldn't figure out how to change any of the things in the notification area, ie clock, battery etc. Would like to know how to get rid of the lock symbol and change the look of the notification bar in the deviant theme. Love the theme but this is a killer for me, had to go back to previous theme.

Are those Wanam presets? Let me check...since if they are, you can just get rid of it with a few taps within Wanam...
Ah, those are the ones that came from the hockey mask themer dude.
Anyway, when I looked inside of those, most of what I saw were apk replacements, not image mods (unlike swapping out png files, those replace the existing apps in system).
Meaning that, if I'm right, they are all or nothing propositions, your apps, once swapped, gain the latter's characteristics, and lose the former's.
Unzip the mod, and if the framework or system ui are outright replacements and not folders filled with a bunch of image files, your choices are...
Keep the mod, and try to use Wanam to deep-six the padlock,
Keep the mod and live with same,
Try one of the other mods on the themes and apps forum that uses a png swap/vrtheme approach, and you'll have no padlock to remove

That's one of the more desirable features for most, but can't please em all. But without knowing what phone you have, what update it's on, if you have a custom rom or recovery, etc, there won't be a way to even point you in the right direction. There isn't a generic setting to just switch on or off to change this feature as it is themed in the SystemUi.apk and / or framework stuff, depending on what you have.

Well, then that should be fairly easy, as it has the Theme Chooser built in. There are hundreds of themes that will work on that, including ones for CM10, and many have solid status bars. Another option, if you don't want to theme anything else would be using something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gravitybox-v2-9-1-tweak-box-android-t2316070
It needs the Xposed Framework:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/framework-xposed-rom-modding-modifying-t1574401
Keep in mind, using ART instead of Dalvik runtime will cause Xposed not to work properly.

I installed it, but I don't see any tweak related with that...
Ok, after you install Xposed, you have to install Gravity Box (KK). You can download from inside the Xposed Framework under Downloads. Once you have the framework and GB installed, you need to make sure under Modules that GB (KK) is switched on, then reboot. After you reboot, everything will be activated and you can go into the Gravity Box interface and under Status Bar Tweaks > Statusbar colors > You can click to enable and set your colors.
There are lots of other cool tweaks that GB has too. Not all of them are compatible with every set up, so make sure you remember what you are trying to enable, so you can disable if it doesn't work the way you are looking for.
If you want to disable GB, if it does not fit your needs, then you can just uninstall the app and reboot, or just uncheck the box in the Modules section of Xposed in case you want to try it again later.
If that doesn't work, there are some other modules that might, like the Xblast one (also in the Download repo for Xposed).

The only problem with that is the old ui is missing a few bits, so you will find you cant read notifications.

Ok
Calls, gallery, internet and contacts are called from their respective apps which i have not yet themed. I will be looking into it but keep getting a corrupt apk after recompile of contacts. But it is being looked into. Everything else is in settings app except the above mentioned apps as those settings are external from settings app.
If you open phone app press menu (or 3 dot button top right)
You get 2 options
Call
Contacts
Click contacts and there is the screen you refere to.
In the phone app

@steha again it has nothing to do with the phone app settings. It goes via settings of the device

Well when iv done the phone app you will see.
Here's an example
Instead or click phone click message.
The message screen will be black.
Because iv themed it. if you put stock message app back. Then go to settings, last tab, messages it will be white. Im not gonna bicker, this is my theme that im sharing. But trust me its called from the phone. The tiles in settings are shortcuts to the respective app settings.
UPDATE!! added v2 Blue .. and Red ..
using new High contrast from theme store, which has blue accent and new icons.
PS: I will not update these apk anymore, so this is end of life for high contrast blacked theme. Thx guys for the support :good::laugh:

This is basically Samsung High Contrast Theme with black notification & light colored text.
Yes, it is possible without Root and unfortunately, without Subs (those who use subs, it doesn't work)
this is a usual Custom Trial theme, so install and apply like it.
- install
- apply (free trial)
- reboot
- re-apply (go to theme store, Stop trial, and click Free trial again)

Q & A
=======================================================
Q: Awesome man, finally have this without root. How / what did you do?
A: it all began here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...y-overlays-t3604341/post73336824#post73336824
Thx to @Tigerhoods @clck @Venom0642 @envy~ and many guys there :good:
Q: I cannot install this theme, after install doesn't show on theme store?
A: try to install with theme store opened, higher chance (open theme store, press home, install this, wait until install complete toast)
Q: dude my notif text still dark?
A: are you on substratum?
- Yes = read the top of OP sorry dude, it doesn't work in subs.. maybe someday,, when subs devs make it work
- No = need re-apply after reboot.. on some apps that still have dark text, let me know app package name.
Q: dude I already have white text cause I'm rooted.
A: good for ya.
Q: theme revert back to default after 10 minutes or after reboot
A: you've never use custom themes then.. u can search google or xda on how to make themes not reverting back.
I'm personally using this (cost money but very worth it) https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73317476&postcount=2264
Q: how to uninstall this?
A: apply other theme, go to this theme and Delete, reboot.
Q: how to update this theme if there's new one?
A: delete this theme then install the new one

if you re-apply theme after reboot, I'm sure download manager and screenshot are white.
for the other apps, yea I need package name, (eg. whatsapp is com.whatsapp )

yeah, don't look for "Reapply" button, you should go to theme store again and click "Free Trial" on this theme again.
As for notification still in black, don't worry, it will revert back after reboot
(Custom trial theme mod from outside theme store needs reboot to apply and clear )
And to make custom theme stick and not revert back to default themes,
I will update the post later.

Yes, i followed your original guide /instructions,
in post 1.
All installed as set out in your instructions.!
Secondly the black notification bar did not revert
back after a reboot.?
What i did was just installed the original
Samsung black theme, over all all is well. and it worked.
See screenshot below
However, i have for a long time looking for a way to get the notification bar black (without root)
So i appreciate your theme mod..!
Going back to apply your black theme mod
as i can still read the other notifications !!
I will update you later.
Thanks for a super Theme mod.
Good luck

yes, you will need to do procedure on how to make theme not reverting back,
using package disabler app, try BK package disabler,
after you apply the theme, disable samsung theme store and Themes (themecenter) and go to
developer mode\running apps\, then you stop this apps named "themes". *Thanks Philt198
(read post below this. haha)
I just updated apk in post 1 , added some of your apps, you'll like it

you dont need clear data. You only do 2 steps:
1. you install this theme and use Samsung disable package to disable theme center and samsung themes.
2. you enter developer mode\running apps\, then you stop this apps named "themes".
Afterall you done. Will never revert !!!
P/s: you must do step 2 again when you restart phone !
Good man
Tried as you mentioned..but it's not working. Some text are coming perfectly in white but some notification are still coming in grey. I am using S7 Edge.
