Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 won't shut down after firmware - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I hope this is the correct forum. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) won't shut down after the latest firmware update. I believe I had 4.2.1 and now I have 4.2.2. My device name is is GT-P5113. I plugged the Tab into my computer and Kies opened automatically. It said there was an update for my device so I updated.
All seems to be ok, but now when I choose to "shut down" the tablet shuts down and then cycles back on as if I had just pressed the power button to turn it back on.
I guess it could be worse - it could be refusing to turn on.
Is there a fix for this? Anybody else had this problem?
It is not rooted and I don't really want to do so.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you for the reply. I realized I posted in the wrong forum, but it would not not let me delete this thread. I have not tried again to delete.
FYI - I spoke with Samsung and they said to try a hard reset. That did not work. I spoke with another rep and they are going to repair or replace it for me. This was a gift and I have no receipt. I am VERY pleased with the service from Samsung.

huge problem with touchwiz! need help.

I have the US version of galaxy s3, but it won't let me post in any of the US version's forums for some reason. Anyway, on to the problem.
When i turn my phone on, it boots, i unlock lock screen, and touchwiz home repeatedly force closes about every 5 seconds, along with contacts. I was rooted, but haven't flashed anything. haven't done anything other than root the phone, and it has been about 2-3 weeks since that was done, and have not had a problem until tonight. The problem was completely random, i pulled the phone out of my pocket and turned the screen on and it rebooted. I have the logcat in my dropbox if anyone can look at it and see what might have happened? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/91650856/LogCat_Default_Sat0728_05326.txt
Help please!
Better start a thread in the US forum, this forum is for the International S3.

[Q] Help! New Galaxy S Advance Bricked After ODIN Upgrade!

Hi People of the world! As you can see im new to here so yeah i just might be in the wrong section...
So, I just got my shiny android a week ago, and know it sits on my desk, lifeless, like a brick. Like literally its dead! I don't know if I can fix it or the BIOS (if theres one in Samsung Galaxies) is fried, or maybe the motherboard is fried, or the battery overcharged, etc. But I just cant do anything! I'm totally out of ideas!
Heres the problem, I first rooted my android successfully, and played around with my android a while. But as you expect I just coudn't wait for the jelly bean update! So, I desided I would give a try to take the Russian firmware instead. That was already a bad idea, but I read on some threads that it would work fine, so I downloaded one from Sammobile.com. The real mistake? I downloaded the wrong phone. I own a Samsung Galaxy S Advance NFC Version;GT-I9070P The one I downloaded was UnNFC version; GT-I9070. Well, I didn't realize that, and proceeded with entering download mode and eventually flashing the PDA file from Sammobile with ODIN. So I pressed start. It started the process, and after 5 min it said in blue: RESET. I saw the phone rebooting. Now, another big mistake: I started touching the power button, which I shouldn't have done. Then, instead of waiting, as soon as seeing the thing wasnt booting, I took out the battery and unplugged the USB cable. Then after a while the PASS appeared in green. So it went successfully? NONONO Now it wont boot! More specifically, it wont TURN ON! like it wont whow any sign of life. As if it had no battery or USB.
Today I discovered, If I hold Vol UP+Power+Home when its connected to my PC, it makes the beep, shows that it failed to install the driver for "U8500 USB ROM" What the (*^&(&%*(&^&* is that??? Also, in 5 seconds, the device disappears, meaning that I must hold the button combo for another 20 seconds.
So, I've got no connectivity to ODIN, nor Kies, and I cant go into download mode, nor recovery mode.
Any Help?
Pleeaase if you can help youre a super god of androids!

Exactly. Nothing at all.
The only evidence that its not fried is that the computer detects it as U8500 USB ROM for 5 seconds whenever i hold the power button or any combination. Nothing on the phone though.

Yeah i think I should take it to service too, but I want to try at least first:cyclops:
I've just repeated exactly the same steps as the OP on my GT-9070P and have "successfully" bricked my two-week-old phone. If someone happens to find a solution, please share. :crying:

Ikr its really bad to break your phone as soon as i get it. Worse, for me its a few of days to my birthday! Worse thing that could happen. I will PM you if i happen to find a good solution. Also, to make it really the worst thing, the GT-I9070 is one of the less popular phones (not like the s3). The NFC version? Even rarer! So not only are there not many developers working for that phone, not many people have really encountered problems with the phone at all.

Please help! I also bricked my Samsung S Advance I9070P after downgrading from JB to GB, since JB was updated for India I9070...but the phone bricked after downgrade. Everything was successful and it had auto-rebooted after the downgrade and stuck with Start up screen. When I removed battery and tried again..it bricked! No recovery mode, No download mode, no power on.

[Q] Samsung galaxy s3 GT-i9300 reboot on start screen

Hi. My name is Erwin. This is my first post in this forum and I'm rookie in this kind of themes. It Turns out that I bought a S3 shabby. it cost me 50 buck.Y thought that I could fix it but I could'nt The problem with the phone is as follows. When I put the battery in it powers on almost immediately without pressing the power button, It shows the samsung galaxy s3 i9300 logo and restarts again and again without going out of this state. It doesn't allow to charge the battery. I have tried to get into recovery mode to do a wipe but it's impossible as it restarts and will not let me do anything. The computer does not recognize it or kies or odin. If anyone can help, I would appreciate. I will provide a you tube video link to watch the exact issue. youtube.com/watch?v=B_5_AzChlJQ&feature=youtu.be

[Q] firmware issues

I have the international GT-19300 s3 and a few days ago. I installed the latest firmare update. I was on Wifi at work and when the download was
complete. It gave me nothing but a black screen. I think when the download was complete I left the area where the wifi connection was and it
messed up my phone. I tried holding down the home, power and volume button up and it will show 27 percent and then the little android dies and
my phone shuts off. When I push the power button. I only get the s3 galaxy logo and then it immidetaly cuts off. I took it to the shop today and he
said it might be a boot issue so he gave me a link for bootloader, but I do not understand it.
does anyone have a link where i can plug my phone to usb to computer and reboot my phone...
I had my phone 2 years, but I'm not savy with these phone softwares.
thanks
Read the guide in stickythread on how to flash back to stock, then factory reset.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Screen works then stops working

Ok guys, first post here. My galaxy tab model GT-P5113TS is having an issue that I can't seem to find on any site including this one.
Little background, this problem first started several months ago. My wife ran the battery completely dead on the tab, we didn't have a "samsung" charger and couldn't get it to charge up. Bought new charger, got it charged, and ever since then, the screen will work for anywhere from 15-20 seconds to 3 or 4 minutes, then just stops working. Hitting the power button will turn the screen off, hitting it again brings up the lock screen, but the screen will still not recognize any touches. The side buttons still work, just not the touch screen.
Letting the tab sit for a couple hours is the ONLY thing that lets the touch screen work again. But it will only work for a minute or two again before it stops working. I tried a soft reset several times to no avail. Kind of forgot about the tab, left it for a while. Picked it up today after charging it and still no different than a couple months ago. I tried the factory reset several times and it made no difference. Usually the screen won't stay responsive long enough to make it through the whole set up process.
I'm pretty new to digging into these things. I'm not afraid to give it a shot, since the thing is useless in its current state. But most of the lingo and abbreviations are new to me. If anyone can point me towards a solution, I'd be VERY grateful! I'll do my best to answer any questions to help as well.
PS, we bought it used off ebay, so no warranty

Well, you're in the wrong forum. This is the forum for the gt p7500/7501/7510/7511 or the galaxy tab 10.1 number 1 if you will.
So we can't help you, even if we wanted too (unless someone in this forum also owns a tab 2).
I suggest you take a look in the correct forum, I'm sure you'll have better luck there.
