Has anyone successfully been able to dual boot ROMs on the AT&T Galaxy Note? I'm very familiar with rooting, flashing, etc but I have been unable to find a compatible method of dual boot for the AT&T Galaxy Note. Ive searched around XDA and googled it but I havet been able to figure it out. I have found 2 ROMS that I absolutely love but cannot decide between the two. Any help would be appreciated.

Thats such a bummer. I was hoping it was possible. Ive managed to get T-Mobiles 4G to work on my Note but speedtests show its only getting about 124kb download and about 70kb upload which seems even slower than Edge. People have said theyve managed to get around 7mb download. But I havent been able to break 200kb with any radio, build.prop tweak, or forcing HSPA+

Make sure your carrier turns on 4g LTE. I swapped phones from my 4g Samsung captivate to the 4g LTE note and my speed was super slow. I went into ATT and they said they had to turn on 4G LTE that it used different towers. Right after they did that my Note was much faster on the web

Is there any android devices out there that could have dual boot?
I imagine you would need twice as much system memory available. And a recovery system that could handle two different roms.
I believe there's a dual-boot system for the Note-2. However, one of the ROM's must be the factory ROM.

Galaxy Tab 2 can dual boot. It uses a custom kernel. Here is a link to the kernel.

I was an Atrix 2 user, (I still am cause I broke my note on day 3 and havent fixed it yet)
On Atrix 2 and Razr you can use Boot Menu Manager from the play store. I've had 3 roms installed simultaneously, and it worked great. It boasts of more but in general I never really used more than 2 at a time. The great part was, that you could keep a solid runner on system1 and run your test roms on systems 3-6.
Hope this helps.
dual booting is possible.. just make a backup to your external SD of all the roms your heart desires. when wanting to boot into them, just wipe and restore

Is the a forum for the Motorola Cliq 2? I didn't see the it listed on the phone types area? Is there another name it's known by?

I just got this phone myself, and I'm hoping to see a section for it.
Are you having any issues with wifi calling. For some reason it will not stay connected for me. It will connect for a little bit then just randomly disconnects. My G2's wifi calling works perfectly so I'm wondering if it just doesn't work well on the Cliq 2 or if one of the built in connection manager apps is interfering with it. Anyone who had this issue please post and fixes you found. Thanks

I haven't used the Wifi calling just yet, but I had a similar problem with Navigator. Was in NYC, and was using it to get me around, and it just stopped working. It was losing the data connection, and it would just stop cold turkey. Sounds similar to your problem with Wifi calling. Probably data connection related.
This MotoBlur is bull****. My sister owns a Motorola Flipside, and the software on that blows. Had to do a number of things to get that phone working right. I'm hoping for some CM7 roms on both of these phones. So far, nobody cooked any yet. Makes me miss using my G1 phone, since it had a pretty nice setup with the abundance of custom roms available. Just a SIM card swap away.
Of course, the first thing needed is a section for the Cliq 2.
The c2 is still a redheaded stepchild at this point. There is some work starting now over at m3 but it would be really nice to see something going over here.
There's already a deblurred rom with some goodies included. Someone is working on porting CM6 and maybe eventually CM7.
That is correct over at m3 there are 2 roms and a custom recovery out at this point. Looks like some good things are starting to happen!

what version of z4root did you use for get rooted you cliq 2?
Just use OneClickRoot to root this phone. The latest version works fine. The Gingerbread release has a custom root that you'll need to apply. It's on ModmyMobile.com .
Ok so before I had a tmobile vkl1 modem running on saurom rom not overclocked, and I would only sometimes reach the 1mbs mark. And in my area i get or at least i assume i have good reception because I have 4 bars. Also my network settings were set to HSPA only. So i decided to try and fix it. I did some searching here and found that people said telus modem was better and it also came with a build.prop change. I did everything it said to.
I load up my phone after i flashed the new modem, and changed the build prop. I even rebooted 2 times after just to make sure it would use new build.prop When i go to the speed test app i only get .42mbs for dl and .13mbps for upload. Try again and only get .44mbps and .06mbps for upload??
That obviously wasnt right so i went in my browser and googled it to get my results and I got 1.62mbs download which is significantly faster but only .03mbs upload! I repeated the test 3 times and got similar results
Does anybody know why this is happening? Could I have done something wrong?? To me as i was browsing speeds do seem slow but now slow enough to be edge.
i have same issue

Wow so its just not me. maybe a problem with the roms or kernel. What rom/kernel are you guys using?
I am going to try and flash back to vkl1 and see what happens. I'll report back. Quick question do you have to wipe then flash and then restore or just clear cache?
Yea same here im using the holonote kernel with vk1 radio...

Hey guys. Little new to the TBolt crew here.
I've been rooting for a bit. Did an HTC Hero, a DROID Eric, an Incredible... Now I've got a TBolt sitting here that I just rooted about an hour ago. It was running 4G just fine both before and after the root, but after installing a CM7 ROM (SFK's to be precise) I haven't seen 4G pop up since. I've tried a couple other CM7 roms, but nothing seems to make a difference - it only runs on 3G.
I was thinking it might be a radio problem, but admittedly I'm pretty novice with this stuff. I just flash what sounds interesting, and if it's not as stable as I'd like I find something else to flash. Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong? And what I can download to fix it?
EDIT: After giving up and deciding to go back to my backup of "stock" that I'd just made... now it's failing to properly back up. This wonderful error about data being corrupted with the only button available being "I'm Feeling Lucky" and still no 4G, only 3G. Now I'm at a complete loss.
I have a Nexus sitting next to me clearly connected to 4G just fine, so I know it's not a network issue. What the heck is going on here?
I'm sure you have, but never know... have you checked your wireless network settings?
Settings--Wireless & Networks--Mobile Networks--Network Mode.
Make sure LTE/CDMA is selected.

most roms are built with a specific radio in mind i would try to flash one of the newer radios they work better drain less battery and are more compatible with rooted roms.

just curious what is hanging up from working on my phone, I installed it but it lags/freezes my phone up. What could be doing that??

I stand corrected.
What about the Tmo GSII, I can run that modem on my 717 and it can run the TMO note modem
There is an SII modem floating around -- its the VLK1.

We can and i am, and its running pretty good, just a lot of battery drainage :/
but here you go, it works very clean on mine, got almost double speeds.

Amigo, please try it. You might get a good result.
Since they are galaxy s phones you can flash the modems but not all will work. I was trying other modems Thursday, and even though I got bars and I could enter the APN and activate data, the phone was sooo laggy.
Many users tried the new modem and had the same lag problems. But exeriment and report back. If you get a bad result you only have to flash your old modem, not restore your system.
thats the one I tried, it totally lagged my phone out
Why can't it work? Maddening, I know. The US t-mobile frequencies and the two bands used is the issue. They went rogue with that two band scheme and now there's always issues using any hardware on their network.
Would it be possible to swap out the hardware, specifically the modem chip, or is it soldered on there?
Sent from the Jelly Way Galaxy
The mainboard contains the processors, video, modem, and sound. Not possible to swap chips.
It seems like trading hardware with other xda'ers would be easier and more sure. xda has a sale or trade section.
so do even know if it will be possible to generate a working, better modem from the tmo more at all, or is it just a really difficult task?
Sent from the Jelly Way Galaxy
the modem file is a binary file that seems like nobody is able to decompile or whatever.
Its always like this throughout the forums --people get a phone made for one network then struggle to make it work on the other.

the truth makes me sad
So when you say "seems" and "struggle" I take that as being very difficult but not necessarily impossible¿
Sent from the Jelly Way Galaxy
Nothing is impossible ...
But unless a serious interest is taken by developers who know and understand the coding, and how this code integrates into the chipset,
Then you probably won't see progress.
I'm guessing it would take development at the manufacturer level ....to pull it off.
And carrier/manufacturer relationships are often set in stone. It's amazing that our talented developers are able to glean so much for us, given the fact that often times, they have little or nothing to work with, yet they manage to give us some pretty awesome work ..g
Yea...i need a lil better Modem for this ROM...GINGERBREAD.UCLA1. Im using T989UVKL1 now. When i do a speedtest when im out..its like 1.24Mbp. Full bars or 3 bars sometimes tho...but same DL rate. What Modxm is best out there for this one? And can you use ICS Modems for GB? Let me know...want another Radio on here thats faster.
The best modem really depends on your area and phone. You kind of have to try them all to find the best for you if one is giving you poor performance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
There aren't many options for t-mobile users - only two radios. And the radios don't care if you're GB or ICS.

Serious???? You can put a ICS radio in with the ROM i said above??? Hmmmm.....didnt know that. My area is pretty good. When i had my mytouch slide...all was good. I just noticed its a lil different with UNLOCKED devices. If i had the T Mobile Note..then i think would be better signal. I saw somewhere on here someone made a SUPER FAST radio. Cant find that thread now. What are the best 2? The one i have is the one i mentioned above.
I meant Kernel. Will this h0tw1r3 / kernel_samsung_sghi717...work with what i said above...to get max speeds with SetCPU?
Kernel has nothing to do with download and upload speeds...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Right i know that. I said it wrong. Kernel is for the processor speed. Wanted to know if i can use that kernel in the ROM i stated? Also....the best Modem for this that will increase my speeds. ( Download)
To my knowledge ...
There is only one OC kernel for the GB rom ...
And that kernel is ATT note dependent ....
I really wouldn't worry about CPU overclock on this device ...
The performance gain is small ....and battery life suffers greatly ....
You are better served with GPU overclock ...
Check out flappjaxxx UCLF6 BUILD #5....
the rom is exceptional ...but do your homework before flashing anything .....good luck ....g
Thanks man. Even tho i wanna flash ROMs really bad. I dont want to. The person i got the phone from....was still signed into there Netflix. So whatever i do....if i factory reset.....the netflix will be gone..in terms of me having to sign into it. So im stuck with 2.3.6. I dont care really...overclock is not too much a big deal. BUT....sometimes ill have 4G...and all 5 bars full...but still circling an not signing in alot of sites when im out sometimes.
So thought a better Modem may solve this. Speedtest would come out slow as well.
The Blaze 4G and the Galaxy SII are the two choices for t-mobile. I would keep the radio you already have.
Yea...i doubt any new Radio would actually help. And i dont wanna do TOO much with this phone cause of the netflix. If something happens one day with the netflix...then yes..gonna flash more ROMs and experiment.
