Yes it's what it's for. Some risk in every thing with flashing. Pc odin maybe a better choice if you can use it.

I just answered nearly the same question the other day here.
The only way is to flash stock by Mobile Odin.

For a completely stock, unrooted firmware, that's true. But what I linked is to wanam's stock firmware thread, which they are CWM flashable, and they really only differ in that they are pre-rooted, and may also be deodexed if you want.
I will be selling my S2 and want to flash a stock firmware. Which firmware should I choose so that the phone can get upgrades through Kies? If it matter my phone is through Bell Canada. Thanks

Use CheckFus to download the latest stock firmware for your phone and flash it with ODIN.

If you are of the idea to use the mobile for warranty, you need to reset the Flash Counter. This is a counter variable that increments on every time you use Odin to flash a custom rom.
From a Rooted Rom, Download Triangle Away application from Play Store and then Reset the Flash Counter. Later download the Official Stock Rom for your model and country and then flash it using Odin (I would suggest to do a data wipe/cachewipe/dalvik cache wipe before installing the Stock Rom)

You can flash any stock firmware, if you want the latest from three or Samsung you can check and download the latest version
From Sam mobile or checkfus and flash. It with odin.

Does Odin first of all recognize your phone? (is there a yellow highlited box somewhere?)
Do you have the correct drivers instaled on the PC?
Is the usb cable damaged?

Don't update via Kies...Kies=b*lls*it.Update normally via odin.
Yeah....odin recognizes. I usually flash my phone to stock when it is flashed with siyah's kernal. When it comes to custom roms, i would restore to siyah's kernel via backup.
Usb drivers are installed fine. Kies not working in background.

You need check first whether you have downloaded correct firmware according to your CSC. or use Multi CSC Package, with that you can change your CSC (Consumer Software Customization).
Have a look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43142932. Its a guide to troubleshoot an Odin flash if it fails.
