[Q] Youtube app keeps force closing - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Perhaps a question that has been asked a zillion times. But I've got an issue..
I've debloated my sammy stock rom and installed the modified Youtube application. (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715)
However this one keeps force closing.
The same happens with the original application.
To debloat my rom i've used this CWM script (made by me) perhaps did i removed a bit to much.. (LINK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428622 )
Logcat is attached. (in a lame .zip file because XDA cant accept .txt lager than 512 kb :silly: )
I've performed the next steps in attempt to fix it myself:
- Reinstalled the app
- Delete its data
- Wipe cache
- Wipe Dalvik
- Wipe data
- Fixed permissions
Many thanks!

Seems like permssion errors in that log... i havent used that modded youtube.... Are you able to install from playstore original one??? Also Gapps are bit tricky... Simply pushing them to system/app/ may not work. I get same force close with Playstore app when i make any change even just icon.. then it just update by itself and all go back to stock...

Yes but i think ive managed to solve it.
When in opend /system/app i saw a YouTube.apk and in /data/app was the modded youtube i believe that was the issue. So i removed the one inside /system/app and rebooted.
We'll see what happens

i have found the way to resolve it

I was having this issue.. but after a reflash from SEUS it was sorted..
your way sounds much easier.. I had to re-install all my apps again.. root the phone.. delete horrible SE apps etc etc.. took fricken hours! (just because that error seemed to be stopping Market working Grrrrrrrrr!!)
any idea what this gapps app is and what it does? I don't remember deleting it (I generally just get rid of games, user guides etc.. safe stuff, so I was really confused when the error suddenly started popping up)
Cheers for the file tho (I have a copy safely stashed away now for next time!)
the problem i have found is that deleting googleapp.apk and google settings provider. when you do this all other google related apk's malfunction that's where the error comes up

The easiest way around this is (to install a file manager without market).. either use a laptop with BT or find a friend with a bluetooth capable phone and a file manager like astro, stick the file on the laptop/their phone and send it to your phone over BT, once its copied across go to the task bar and select the file and install it. couldn't be easier..
Google talk missing mate ..cud u link me to the apk or upload it?
Thanks
I recommend you not to touch any google.apk's, you can delete googlesearch.apk, enhancedgooglesearch.apk and search.apk, rest of .apk's that have google in its name leave it alone. Also, Setupwizard (or whatever its called (Setup wiz that starts when you first boot your phone or change sim card) is closely related to google.apks and market login, so i recommend you to leave it alone to.
When i deleted it, i was unable to log on my market (when i start marked i only get force close error and my market crashes and i was unable to login to my google acc to do the synh.
Thanks a lot, i wasn't able to copy them directly to the specified folder (i don't have root explorer), but copying the apk to SD and installing them from there seems to solve the error.

for setup wizard, I have deleted it and I can access market without problem.
but, I do sign in into market first before I delete it.
I copied the files to SD and then I installed every single one of them... It worked!
But only to remove the FC message... Still couldnt use Marked... So I reflashed it and recovered with Titanium... 15 mins and I was up n running again...
Thanks dude!!! After days of searching for a solution I downloaded and copied to system\app your pack and it worked.
Now I wonder why these android phones start doing funny things when you try to delete the Google stuff. Maybe that "don't be evil" policy is a thing of the past.
Hi , I downloaded the apps.rar to my phone but it can't extract or install..
it claims the file is empty , even though the filesize says 1,95 MB. Very strange..
I get the com.google.process.gapps error when opening Gmail app.
anyone?

@ The Andropirate... You sir are my new hero for the day anyway! I rooted my phone and my buddies and had this horrid error and market freeze for a couple days now with all kinds of bogus advice on how to fix it.
This IS how to fix the problem!
One thing that was not clear to me was copying the files in root explorer which I did do but it didn't seem to make a difference so I installed the files through root explorer from the SD card and that worked. I then simply installed the files from my friends SD card on his phone without the copy process and that worked. I do not think there is a need to copy the files to system/app. Simply extract to SD and install from there through root explorer.
This fix worked on Alcatel PT-980a and a Motorola Citrus
Im a bit of a n00b and when i rooted my x10 mini i went crazy uninstalling everything. Big thanks! I just copied all the apps to my sd card and installed them using root explorer. All fine now after many panicky hours!
By the way.... if you dont have any apps you need and you have this problem, download them from 4shared.com (when searching type the app name all one word followed by .apk e.g. rootexplorer.apk) and transfer to sd card... easy!
Acer A1 running 2.1
I have an Acer S100 A1 running official Eclair 2.1
Made a factory reset thinking that it would solve this gapps problem...
But no, it still pops up each time after I reboot and market is not working...
No file manager comes with the phone...
I cannot find a way to install the google apps in the first post...
Anyone, please
Victor
Is there any possibility to install these apps via recovery? Via .zip or adb?

[Q] Uninstalled apps reappear after reboot

Hello,
I flashed my mini pro yesterday with latest SE firmware (.06), installed app2sd, all went fine.
Downloaded some apps but after a while the market wouldn't start downloading apps larger than 10mb, so after some forum search I read that a "dalvik-cache" folder clearance would help and tbh after I did it everything fixed.
Problem is that alongside the dalvik cache clearance after the first reboot, three icons came up into my menu, the stock trial games I uninstalled earlier (gold rush, rollercoaster, uefa app).
As I've noticed these are three .dex files in the dalvik cache folder. So I tried and
- Uninstall through applications management
- Uninstall through titanium backup
- Delete the three .dex files using root explorer
All 3 ways the apps are removed but after reboot .dex files are recreated and standing into my menu...
Is there any way to get rid of them once and for all?
boot to the xrecovery, and select wipe\format dalvik cashe.
thats all!
As I've said the problem occured after a dalvik cache wipe but I did it again like you said me and ofc nothing changed, .dex files and icons in menu still there...
Any other idea?
It's really weird how files that I delete are recreated after a reboot...
Problem solved probably,
followed the instructions from another thread that mangoman posted
"searched with root explorer and found them both under
/system/etc/customization/applications
deleted those and uninstalled from phone that seems to have worked."
and after reboot everything seems ok!
Ty all
Yeah, i found those apk's too (just 2 of them though)

Help! Problems after flashed XXFLB

I have an international version of the GS3 (i9300) that I purchased in the U.S. I didn’t get an OTA update for the latest firmware so I manually flashed XXFLB via ODIN. After the flash, I noticed that everytime I restart the phone, it says “Android is upgrading”. Also, a few apps I installed before the flash stopped working so I uninstalled them (for example, Speedtest.net). The problem is, now I tried to reinstall them from google play, it always gives me an error message “Insufficient storage space available”. I also tried install the apk and also failed.
I’ve poked around to find solutions for this issue but almost all of them says move/uninstall apps to make space, but I have more than 5GB of space available and it only happens to apps that I have previously installed.
I hope I can find some answers here, thanks a lot!
I noticed "Android is upgrading" stuff in my XXLF5 firmware. I also will be interested for an answer.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
No idea for the "android is upgrading" thing (never have this...)
For your apps, they must have left some files on your phone when you uninstalled them
If you are rooted:
-open root explorer (or similar app)
-check /data/app and /system/app for files from your uninstalled apps
-reboot in recovery
-wipe cache and dalvik cache
-restart your phone
-try to reinstall the app from google store
if you are not rooted:
-reboot in recovery
-factory reset
-restart
The steps for non rooted phone will make you loose all your apps and data
Heh, remove any *.odex files from /data/app. You'll probably realise that you'll need to run a certain program again afterwards...

Crazy issue, an app refuse to (re)install/restore, tried all i could..!

Hello,
I had some sort of crash on my phone but i managed to get system back. All's phone appart few apps that didn't appear anymore in launcher. After checking data/app i saw their apk was corrupted, so i deleted it. Reinstall was fine for all, but not for ezPDF Reader...
I tried all i could : deleting all files related to it, wiping caches and even flashing it from cwm (with TB update.zip feature). It failed for that last solution too (apk was in data/app and not corrupted but still not showing in launcher).
Ah, forgot but i also tried copying the apk rightly named & good permission in data/app myself. Of course i did reboot everytime a change was made. Please help/tell me what's the file/thing to change so i can restore/install it.
Thanks.

[LP][23.1.A.0.690][LB/UB] Mini/Full Debloat Flashable [Xposed, Play Store, No FC's]

This is my attempt to help those who are on Lollipop and want Xposed working while not having any FC's. This also keeps the Play Store working. No "Your device is not compatible with this version" message in the store. I made 2 versions. One that removes the stock keyboard, one that doesn't. Also, if you don't want to remove the priv-apps, you can delete it from the zip by opening it with 7zip. I say this because I messed up the script and it only deleted files from /system/app but still booted fine. Also booted fine multiple times after, without having to clear cache. The file is only 500kb. Enjoy!!!
My phone is the Z3(6603), running LP(23.1.A.0.690), US Version, Locked Bootloader.
This should work for anyone using the same LP version on the Z series, but no guarantees since I only have the 6603 Z3 model.
Requirements:
Lollipop (23.1.A.0.690)
TWRP Recovery

1. Backup (I cannot express this enough)
2. Flash one of the zips below (do not reboot)
3. Flash xposed arm
4. Clear cache and dalvik-cache
5. Reboot into system
6. Install xposed apk and your modules, reboot after enabling modules
Known Issues
1. Some modules will cause boot loops. I recommend enabling one at a time and rebooting after each one. Start with the modules you want the most, first.
Bootloop fix for bad module besides a cache clear:
When you see the "ANDROID" logo after the Sony logo, press Volume Down or Up repeatedly, and fast, until you feel a long vibrate after the short ones. This disables the xposed from running its framework. I just figured this out by accident. So as far as I know, the only way to re-enable it is to navigate to "/data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf" and delete the disable file. Just be sure to disable the module from the xposed app afterwards.
Not Working Modules:
None are giving me an issue with boot loops. However, this is because of the full debloat. Doing the mini will cause random modules to cause boot loops.

Did you have a stock version of LP before attempting? Was the xposed apk installed before flashing my file? Did you follow the steps exactly? I'm not on Baltic myself but a few posts back, a Baltic user said it was working for them.

I am on pre-rooted ..BAL.690 and I am using exposed with byeselinux patch but when I reboot my phone I stuck bootloop.
Now if I will install your zip am I relies to bootloop?
Edit: I flash @redinvali Zip's on to BAL.690 Pre rooted ROM and bomm everything like a old days. Thanks bro.
Are you on a bootloop from my file or from using a different one? Mine hasn't caused any bootloop issues for me.
Im about to do my phone again from a factory reset to see if theres any issues. My Play store was working but now isn't. I think its due to me flashing LP without a reset, only cleared caches. I'll post results when my phone is back up.
~ via Xperia Z3, XDA App
Ok so I'm back from a factory reset. Everything is working, xposed & play store. I checked the store after every reboot to make sure there was no "your device its not compatible" message. This is how I did it...
1. Backed up all my apps with titanium
2. Booted into recovery and did factory reset
3. Flashed a prerooted LP
4. Rebooted into android
5. Went thru initial setup and signed into google (to check store for message)
6. Ran byeselinux (which restarts automatically)
7. Checked Play Store, was ok
8. Installed the Xposed apk
9. Reboot into recovery
10. Flashed mini deodex, xposed fw, & super su zips
11. Cleared cache & dalvik cache
12. Reboot into system
13. Checked Play Store, was ok
14. Rebooted and checked Play Store, was ok (2 time to be sure)
15. Restored apps with Titanium
16. Rebooted and checked Play Store, was ok
17. Enabled all my modules
18. Rebooted and checked Play Store, was ok and all modules running
So if your trying to flash this over an existing system that has been altered already, to get xposed working, then you may experience issues. I recommended backing up your apps, doing a factory reset, reflash your prerooted LP, then follow the steps in OP.
WARNING: BE SURE TO RUN "byeselinux" AFTER A FRESH INSTALL OF PREROOTED LOLLIPOP OR YOUR RECOVERY WILL STAY BROKEN
I didn't have the issue with the Play store before until I started debloating my system. Im going to do it now while checking the Play store to see if removing a specific app causes the issue.
~ via Xperia Z3, XDA App
It seems my store is showing the message again... I haven't touched anything and it was working before my last post. I checked it again to be sure, before debloating, and there it was. So I'm back to trying to figure it out :-/
~ via Xperia Z3, XDA App
Edit:
Disabling all the modules in xposed did not remove the message from the Play Store. I just flashed the mini deodex again. Currently waiting on it to finish optimizing the apps. Then I'll remove the rest of the xposed framework files manually, if the Play Store is still showing the message. So I can determine if the framework for xposed is causing the issue or if its the deodexing causing it. I will figure it out
Great work with the ROM buddy.
Just a quick one, I am wanting to debloat my system. What are the safest apps to delete, or are the ones you listed on the first post still good to delete?
Also in regards to the error message in the play store, I used to develop ROMs for HTC devices, and deodexing the ROM caused this same issuer, bearing mind this was on ICS but still.
If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

Thank you. I just wish it was working correctly. Thanks for the info about the deodexing. I never had that issue on KK and never used a deodexed version of ICS. As for the apps to remove, I'll post a list of what I removed without causing any FC's (other than the one you get for deleting the apk because it was running in the background).
I just manually removed xposed, restoring the orig files, and it caused a boot loop. Even though I did clear the cache and dalvik. So I flashed the prerooted LP again without a data wipe. Waiting for it to finish booting though app optimization right now.
Edit:
I can confirm that flashing a prerooted LP without a factory reset will not restore your Play Store. The message WILL still be there, even with a cache clear. Will perform a full wipe when I am back from the store and then try to slim the firmware deodex down and see if I can do it without losing the Play Store while still maintaining the use of Xposed.
Still no luck... I was able to get xposed running but was requiring a cache clear before each boot or else a boot loop would occur. Ill keep everyone posted on the situation if I'm able to fix it.
Just to confirm then mate, is it safe to flash this or not?

I wouldn't unless u want the message in the app store to say "Your device is not compatible with this version". There are other markets so you can always install them if you want to use this. I may do that for the time being because I enjoy having GravityBox features. Almost any app can be found elsewhere besides the Play Store. Ill update OP to let others know
I would not write your 'My Flashable' off so easily...it worked for me Was suffering from the Xposed bootloop and now its gone. Alls back to normal.
My setup (Sony Z3C):
Came from rooted KK 5.77.
Flashed pre-rooted Lollipop with R/W enabled, based on CE1
Ran 'Byeselinux' for recovery
Flashed 'Xposed.zip'
Installed 'Xposed alpha2'
Resulting in the boot loop.
Followed your guide:
Flashed the 3 files, wipe cache/ Dalvik chache & reboot.
Tested by d/l-ing app from Playstore, installed Amplify from Xposed and all is ok and using Debloater by @gatesjunior to block/freeze apps.
PS: @hzr34 actually said it worked for him in a earlier post, thats why I gave it a try.
Thanks . I'm using it as well. Since my last fresh install, I haven't had the play store issue. Been checking it periodically to see and still no issues (fb messenger was saying not compatible).

I've been doing some research and I've got a few ideas I'll try tomorrow. They should help narrow down the boot loop caused when installing xposed on a fully stock odex LP rom. Off to bed for now tho, 3am =)
Works Great
Thank you a lot!I missed xposed for lollipop, but it worked like a charm for me! I can confim, also, lucky patcher works great.
Ok, so I did a factory reset and flashed the prerooted LP again. Did the normal stuff for recovery then installed LiveBoot, so I could log the boot even if it crashes. So I installed xposed and got a log from the boot loop it created. Im going to go through it now and see if I can figure out whats causing the boot loop when installing xposed on an odex LP. If anyone else is interested and/or is better at detecting problems from logs, I've uploaded em HERE in a zip. One log is a working boot log, the other is the boot loop version. The only difference, besides the boot loop, is that the working log was from when i had xposed working on my deodex mini version. I hope this helps!
