Thanks to everyone who posted the necessary information for rooting the Xperia Tablet Z. I have now updated to 4.2.2 (OTA) and maintained root---very nice. I knew the soft buttons would be moved to the center, very out of reach when using the tablet in landscape. Is there any way of moving them back to the corner without having to unlock the bootloader and flash a different rom? I want to stay with the stock rom for now. Thanks in advance.

You're welcome, and thanks for yet another useless post that could have been answered by doing a search and/or reading the sticky.
Another day, another closed thread....
Hi,
I really hope someone can help, after installing CyanogenMod my xperia no loger gets past the opening screen which has the round circle animation with CyanogenMod in the middle.
I can get into recovery so if someone could provide ideally either a stock rom or possibly instructions on how to get past this it would be greatly appreciated.
I've looked for a stock rom but can't seem to find one.
BTW this is a SGP321 model
Thanks in advance

Hi,
1. you can find the Stock firmware here.
2. To maybe fix the bootloop I would need more info
- Which Cyanogenmod did you use?
- Did you wipe beforehand?
- If you try to mount /data in recovery do you get a warning that it is inaccessible

Hi,
Apologies for the late response and thank you for your help.
I don't know how but the device seems to be working now with cyogen 10.1.2...weird
I do have a follow on question, if that's ok, can i load your recommended 10.2 version or the stock rom after installing cyo 10.1.2?
apologies for the newbie question but thanks again for links.
Best regards

Hi,
- theoretically you should be okay updating to CM10.2, but make a nandroid backup nonetheless. I use CM10.2 for 4 days sraight now and it works just as good as CM10.1 for me.
- going back to stock on the other hand will most certainly not work without losing your data.

Thanks a lot lowtraxx,
thankfully I not loaded anything on so no major data to lose. will give 10.2 a go after a backup.
thanks again for the support, really appreciate it.

Read through this thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554982 .. I think it will help you.. I've also read that you need to have the U.S. ICS bootloader.. This aplies if you have the u.k. tab.

Actually i am pretty sure that it is nothing to do with the rom. Because it was already flickering after the first root.
How can i find the US ICS bootloader and what do you mean by UK tab? What is the difference?

Go here.. http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm9/p4wifi/ . and flash his bootloader and cwm recovery....for you're tab version.. You could just try another cwm recovery first instead of the bootliader and recovery... I've seen bad versions of cwm floating around causing rolling screens..I personally use infamous twrp recovery...
So like with my other Sony devices after updating to the latest and `greatest` firmware I really don't like it. I now have the 4.2.2 and want back to 4.1.2. The ui is that of a phone.
I have used flashtool in the past, but if anyone can help me out it wouldn't just be me, I will share on the Sony forums which are no help.
So stock 4.1.2 ROM!? For the xperia tablet z?
Thanks solo much really dislike the new ui
If in the wrong thread I apologise, can't navigate the site well

Ehh don't know of the top of my head. At work atm. Its the Xperia tablet z 32gb with wifi
I will appreciate any help. As good as a attractive brick atm
Thanks
I'm in the same boat.
While i have flashed countless roms on my china tablet and my nexus 4 i was also hoping there is an easier way but apparently we have to get the stock firmware and flash it with flash tool.
It was astounded how crappy 4.2.2 really is. How can they roll out such an uzpdate with the phone UI? It's ridiculous.
I made a similar thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427256
Got some info but only the link to an us firmware wich is no good for me.
Anyone knows where to get Stock 4.1.2 for the 16 GB Wifi version?

If you're stuck, the 32GB WiFi only (312) ROM will work with the 16GB WiFi only (311) model.
I've successfully flashed a 312 Stock ROM (ftf) on my 311 with flashtool.
There are a few 4.1 (.344 & .370) ftf files posted in this forum for downloading.

I see that you use a custom rom 4.3 based. Is there any roms with a tablet UI like the original 4.1.2?
on pac rom you can choose if you wanna have the new ui or the tablet ui

Also with PAC you can chose to use the Pie navigation interface, so you can do away with the navigation and status/notification bars altogether.
I use the Pie interface on my phone and tablet. For me, Navigation/status bars are a waste of screen space.

This conversation is going off topic, so I'll just say have a read of the PAC and CM threads in this forum - they're not too long
So there doesnt seem to be a offical rom out there. Anyhow, i didnt give the update much chance, and infact im liking it. Other than the drop down bar, the device is faster and much smoother. The lock screen is sharp and im starting to find new features such as the mini apps - when dragging to the side minimizes it. But if a offical rom comes out im sure i will revert back. Thanks :laugh::laugh::laugh:
I just got my replacement from Sony.. They sent me a GPe instead of Z ultra C6806.. And it has the latest version of 5.1.. Is there some way I can root my device or anyone that is willing to help me?.. Would really appreciate it.. Thank you
I moved your thread to the Q&A section. As for your question, I guess the easiest way to go about it would be to unlock your bootloader and flash the SuperSU binary from a custom recovery. I do not believe there is a way (ie towelroot) to actually attain root otherwise.
Hope this helps...

Be aware that you can't flash regular (non-GPe) Ultra ROMs on that one (due to different partition structure), so you could probably contact Sony and ask nicely if they can replace it with the correct model, since they screwed up themselves. Or you keep it.
