what carrier are you on, what are your wiping methods when flashing each rom, what recovery are you using, what hboot and radios?

ok i recommend getting on hboot 2.28 with the updated radios of 2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r for s-on users and going to a 4.12 or 4.2.2 based rom for most stability...i also reccommend using twrp...while flashing from rom to rom you have to wipe more than just those 3 or you will have errors from any rom you go to as its still reading from prior roms if not done correctly. heres the proper method:
Wipe ALL data/factory reset x2
Wipe /data x2
Wipe /cache x2
Wipe Dalvik-cache x3
Wipe /system x3
wiping system and dalvik cache is very important amongst the others....if you dont know how to do all the mentioned above pm me and ill get you links and instructions...also note that the 4.3 based roms are having mms issues...so if its only on those roms that your having an issue than theres nothing me can do at this time till we figure that fix out

No problem bud...again if you need the help just pm me...also unless the developer mentions another recovery i would stick with the most recent recent cwm or twrp...amon ra was good for gingerbread and ics but was also known to cause many errors....also after doing that wipe method as mentioned above theres a zip file you can download thats called cleanwipe for the rezound....it does a hell of a great job and will recommend using it before any rom flash

For any and all internet issues flash stock recovery then from hboot select factory reset. Remember to back up any piks and music you need before hand

EVO 3D not going pass boot logo after Rom Manager

Hi Guys,
I really need help here.
I have a rooted and unlocked boot loader (Revolutionary) HTC Evo 3d. I already had clockwork recovery installed but when i opened ROM manager and clicked on download ROms it asked me to download clockwork recovery.......so i did. The phone got stuck so i pulled the battery out. Now i simply cannot get past the HTC boot logo. I can get into recovery but i do not want to factory reset as i don't have a backup of my data. Is there ANY way to do ANYTHING to fix this?
Would really appreciate any help in this regard. Any suggestions????

Try booting into recovery ...once there wipe dalvik cache, and also clear the option that says "data cache" will edit so I can reboot and get the exact wording but its data clear cache is what you want to clear as well..then once complete reboot phone and it should get you going. What ROM are you flashing?
**its wipe data/factory reset**
Clear that then reboot see if that helps

Did you wipe the data/factory reset.
You didn't mention that one..there's 3
1) wipe cache
2) dalvik
3) data/factory reset

No its not a factory reset of your phone..ie: settings erase ..
This is through recovery on clock mod. All it does is clear the previous data which is probably why you get stuck in boot loop
its not going to erase your phone...

Did all 3. Dodnt work. In the fast boot theres an option of factory reset(Not in the recovery) should i go ahead with that? Or since my phone is unlocked and rooted that might mess things up more?
Last option is to flash again

Ok not uploading.....but once you boot into clock mod....in the options one of those is the data/wipe factory reset something like that in recovery...not fastboot.
If you did that then you will need to flash again....do a nandroid recovery and then try again

I know how to do that and did it correctly but no luck. I guess flashing a new rom is the only way.
Could you point me to where i can get ROMS for the eve 3d? There seem to be a few online so any recommendations?
Just copy a PG86IMG.zip image of TWRP to your sd and install through the bootloader.
Then, never use Clockworkmod recovery again in your lifetime.

I never had a problem with cwm on devices with no other option.... But on devices that had other options the other options have always been the better choice. Could it be that cwm sucking necessitated an alternative or mere coincidence? Likely the latter... But I'll never use cwm if I have another option--cuz all I hear about is trouble.

That is what you're looking for but all it's gonna do is flash a different recovery. From your posts, it seems cwm recovery was still functional. You just need to flash a new rom and forget about your previous data. Always have a nandroid backup of some sort, and this won't happen. I nandroid backup once a week atleast, and more if I start tinkering with the rom. I have also NEVER had any problems with cwm recovery on any of the four android devices i've owned. I don't know why people dislike it so much.

Need Help!!!!

My brother tried to install a rom in rom manager. Did not work. He got stuck at the hboot screen. He panicked and tried fixing by flashing the newest ruu. It does the update then when you reboot it gets stuck at the white htc screen for ever. Not sure what he did is even fixable im used to the samsung phone and we just odin back. I have tried to reinstall his cwm and flash the ruu thru there but same result. He was rooted running bamf and he still has s-off even after flashing ruu. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated and to save time hit me up on gtalk @ [email protected]. Thanks fellows.

Wow fail on the no backup! I'd try to reboot into recovery, load a new rom on the SD and try to flash that.
What did he use to gain root?
Can you verify he still has s-off?
Bootloader version?

Do a system wipe, cache and dalvik. Then try to reinstall a rom, not the RUU.

I wish more people would stop flashing roms in Rom manager. Reboot to recovery clear data, cache, davlik cache, hell format system while you are at it, wipe it all 3 times for good measure. I have always followed the same steps from day 1 and never any issues with roms other than known bugs. Another thing when something doesn't go right don't just flash with no reguard to your device. If something does not work try to clear everything and reflash again. If that does not work clear everything and flash your backup (yes you should always make a back up) rant over.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button

[Q] Help! Wifi Error, Hotspot Error synergy

So this is my first root and wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache. I then ran the Infected_wipe. But every time I flash Synergy 2.3.4 it works to an extent but wifi and hotspot give me errors.
Actually I did run viperrom but only recieved 1x speeds plus i wasn't hooked.
I read this may be a kernel issue and the kernel doesn't say ziggy when I checked. Sorry I couldn't find the answer out there.
Btw I'm running an s-on, h-boot 1.5, root on 2.3.4, and 2.18.651.5
I'm having the same issue....
Bah Humbug.
So it seems were all doomed. Who needs wifi really... or hotspot.... Save me
Ok guys I just flashed this kernel using flash image gui. And it made my hotspot work awwwwwww yeah. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255465

Which kernel did u use? I used the the first one not sure if that matters.
I used the first one. I'm going to try TWRP and see if it makes a diff. over CWM
So twrp made the difference over CWM. I cleared the Dalvik Cache and Cache, did a factory reset and lo and behold the ROM worked with the built in ziggy kernel

Why is it that only GB radios work on my ICS PHONE?

I have S-Off, the leaked May Hboot, an ICS ROM (Nils' Business ICS 3.4 S-off version), but the ICS radios simply do not work.
Today I tried them and had barely functioning cell reception, crap battery life, and only 1x data.
Then I flashed the OTA GB radios, and everything was perfect. Lightening fast 4g, killer cell reception, and great battery.
Why?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
The Beeb
Try this one. There are a couple floating around that may have problems but this one works for me
ICS Latest Radio
Just remove everything in the name before the PH and flash in bootloader (I know, you know this but others may not)
May also want to match the kernel
Thanx, Nils. I'll try it after work today.
BTW, I'm on your new kernel release, and it's running great.

What you say makes perfect sense, and I even agree with you.
There's just this tiny voice in the back of my head that keeps shouting "Yeah, but WHY?!?"
After updating radios, may need to have stock recovery installed and do a factory reset in hboot, then reflash recovery, rom, & kernel.

EDIT:

+1 you probably NEED to do this.. I know I always do..
In superchilpil's firmware thread he does say to wipe and reinstall or you'll have 4g problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614366
"YOU MUST FACTORY RESET IN THE BOOTLOADER TO FIX DATA ISSUES"
Actually it was Snuzzo who informed me that I need to do that after not reading all the words on the flashing instructions. You know figured I would just skip that part well thats fine if you want your data dropping in and out, no 4G and just general ****tyness..
I did a wipe/factory reset in bootloader, and then restored a CWM Backup of Nils' ROM.
When that didn't work, I did it again and wiped everything and started over with a fresh install... No joy.

You have to have the stock recovery in order to factory reset in the bootloader. If you have a custom recovery such as cwm or ra it won't do the reset needed for the radio to work correctly.
Flash stock recovery
Factory reset
Boot to make sure radios work right
Fastboot install custom recovery
Restore backup

[Q] Help with flashing to a new rom

Quick question for you all.
I currently am s-off and running fresh's rom.
I would like to move to the Stock w/ Goodies 3.28.
Can I just do a factory reset on my phone and then flash the stock w/ goodies ROM? or is there more to it. I have used fresh since I got my OG EVO and never tried anything else, so I don't know how to switch roms.
I'm assuming that to update the radios and prl i can just use the Full Firmware zip located here: http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...dio-Collection&p=220556&viewfull=1#post220556
Do I need to update the hboot, recovery or boot img files?
TIA

You don't need to update hboot, recovery, and boot image. When you switch roms you should always wipe: cache, dalvic cache, factory reset, and system. Note that this does erase everything so back up your contacts, texts, and apps you wish to keep

Thanks for the quick response. I'm running titanium backup as we speak. I figured it was good to have a backup either way.
