[Q] Urgently need help!! Stuck on HTC start screen - HTC EVO 3D

Hello, I have a problem. My phone is HTC Evo 3D Sprint. I've updated the android version to ICS (with official download) and i did the upgrade installation. After the installation finished, my phone rebooted and it won't go from HTC logo white screen. for some information: unlocked & rooted before version update, SHOOTER XC SHIP S-ON RL, HBOOT - 1.50. 0000, 4EXT installed, I'm not using any custom ROM. Please give me some solution. thank you for ur attention

You cant take OTA update if you are rooted. for a quick solution just relock bootloader and run an ICS RUU

ohh so that was the problem. thanks for reply and for the link. :good:
[edited]
for godsake. let me say thank you again, you save my life

Use the ics 2.89 zip rename it to PG86IMG.zip and place it on the root of your sdcard. Boot into the bootloader and run the update.
Note: file is case sensitive!

Not sure if you can downgrade the HBOOT but I dont see why you would need to. If it is because you need root follow these guides. Even if you already have a working goldcard make it again mine was working for other phones but wouldnt work for this.
Part 1
Part 2
Once you have finished them you should have HBOOT 1.01 with Android 2.1 full root with clockworkmod so you can flash any rom you would like.
thanks a lot
I get the way to root,I only want to know how to downgrade the HBOOT
English is not my mother tongue,so my English is not so good
pardon
For now no way to downgrade HBOOT 1.01 to HBOOT 1.00 or 0.43 .....
We wait for a solution ....

AlphaRev has made S-OFF for our legends here.

But this is only possible with hboot 0.43
We will wait...
S-OFF is only really useful for real devs, not leaches like the rest of us.

Seems you don't need to sign zips for flashing with ROM Manager. Works for me anyway.
I don't have much need for S-OFF myself -- the only thing I can think of is that it should let adfree android work right after flashing CM. Saves me the extra reboot to flash my symlink-etc-hosts.zip..

Yeah, I know, I know. It's just me being lazy end letting ROM Manager do everything for me. Download through ROM Manager and then flash both zips from recovery might be the most convenient.
(..or just S-OFF, which I plan to do when I get back from vacation )
waiting and waiting. We should be pacient.
I don't even own a Legend, but I've lurked around the Desire, Desire Z and G2 forums - and I own a Nexus One.
I've noticed that procedures for downgrading the HBOOT on these devices seem to involve making a modification to the misc partition, which then fools the phone into accepting a RUU/PASSIMG/etc that downgrades HBOOT.
I see here a procedure that downgrades from the Froyo OTA using a similar idea:
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/
But the resulting HBOOT is still 1.001.
Could this method be adapted to accept a RUU that will roll back the HBOOT even further?
Nope. Current HBOOT (1.x) does not allow to fool itself and this is the main problem. You may play with misc and downgrade rom, but HBOOT remains the same. The only 0.43 version of HBOOT allows downgrading.

Yeah you can...but then what will you do? Seeing as this RUU most likely overwrites the HBOOT to a version that can't be S-OFF'd. Flashing an older stock ROM won't downgrade it. Then you can kiss S-OFF goodbye and troll in the forums about not being able to flash ROMS and having WiFi issues.
Your choice.

If you give me a minute i will create a flashable cwr rom of it without the radio or hboot
I have been trying all day to install this but I keep on getting
ERROR CODE [156]: Image Error.
I have the Asian ROM with hboot 1.49.0011
The only reason I need this ROM is the RTL support where I'd like to be on an official rom for the time being but I couldn't get any patch or anything else to work with this hboot version!
I've also copied rom.zip to PG86IMG.ZIP but it wouldn't install either saying missing or wrong image file.
I'm not an expert but I was able to do this on Desire HD & Desire Z phones with no issues, Any hints or alternative methods where I can get the RTL or install this?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I have read the posts but I'd still like to install the rom, the necessity of RTL outweighs the need of S-OFF or root for this device.
I have already redownloaded earlier but with same error, reading your earlier post again you mentioned having WiFi issues, did this happen to anyone after installing this?
Apologies if I missed something, as you can see I'm new and this was my 1st post.

NO, unless you have S-off. If you read the information posted by the developer on the market page, about halfway down it says:

Before questioning , you should have searched once...... It works on hboot 1.5 and any S-ON device IMO. I use it on my HTC unlocked 3D without any issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500538
@twolazyg
It works ,LOL. S-OFF is not necessary. The Dev of the app told me, he mentioned S-OFF on market to insure zero issues. The only problem with the app on S-ON device is , if we cant get a SLOT ROM to boot up then we need to fastboot recovery and flash update.zip located in sdcard/bootmanager/phoneROM...... this process can be skipped for S-OFF device.

Frist you will need to downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.1107 and then S-OFF your phone.. just rooting it does not help.!!

Or if you want to flash Rom S-ON, I think you I'll manually have to flash boot.img using fastboot and then everything should be fine, according to me !

[ROM]Original to Custom

I've spended almost the entire afternoon looking for this info and it seems everyone is just too smart and I'm too dumb or we lost kinda the "basic guide" somewere.
I've just got the phone 2 days ago and the idea was to get the Yas4 v11 installed, still dont wanna wreck the new phone and I'm trying to do things as they should.
Yas4 v11 does not need the S-ON, so I've got one thing less to think about, and that's the only thing I actually know...should I root the device? ( don't think so ) Still I think I should install a recovery right?...please gimme some basic steps and I'll wreck my mind into it, I don't really want to be a disturbance.
Whould gladly appreciate any kind of help
PS: Done it with a defy a looong time ago( still have it, still love it ) and with my ex Xperia ZL ( but only original software on the last one ) so I'm a little rusty

First of all, the rom itself is rooted so when you flash you will have root. This does not require S-OFF because it is based on stock ics. To do the procedure you have to unlock your bootloader through the htc.com website and have the fastboot drivers and files on your pc to flash the unlock code binary. There are plenty of guides showing how to do it, just a registration on the site and follow the steps to unlock it (ps: you will loose all the personal data on your phone, eg:factory reset. SD card won't be affected) After this part is done you will see ***UNLOCKED*** on the top of the bootloader of your phone, good luck

Yeah weird, you got it second hand? You could bypass the unlock from htc because of S-OFF, nevermind. So you can install any custom rom out there, remember that using any aosp rom you will loose the 3D recording (taking video/pictures). What's your hboot version? To install 4ext on your mobile you can download it here and flash it through fastboot mode. "fastboot flash recovery 4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1.0.0.6_RC1.img" is the command. Change the recovery name to a smaller one for easier use.

In order to install aosp roms you have to downgrade your hboot. If you want to downgrade it is very easy. I can explain it to you if you want.

So Aosp rom is equivalent to custom rom...
Whould this be allright?:
Downgrade to BL 1.49
Quote:
►►Now to downgrade bootloader to 1.49....
►►Remember that PG86IMG.zip file?
►Put it on the root of your sdcard (so don't put it inside any folder)
►Boot to Hboot->Fastboot-> bootloader
►Press BOOTLOADER button...
►Now we wait until the installation is finished... of course, press YES when it says so.
►►You're now on bootloader 1.49, S-OFFed, and with a custom recovery...
If not please explain
