hi
i know a lot of people do not like the new 4.2.2. i myself hate it. so i want to downgrade my sgp312 xperia tablet z wifi 32gb bought from saturn germany.
i have a few questions:
1.obviously i need to downgrade using flash tool. should i use the latest version v0.9.11.0 or should i use flashtool-0.9.10.2beta4-windows.exe ?
2.will my bootloader be unlocked in the process?
3.if i take my device for warranty in the future, will sony technicians see something and i lose my warranty of the device?
4.will downgrading break bravia or other sony technology that breaks when rooting/unlocking
5.what stock fw should i use for my german xtz ? is this one here good? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344577
6.unfortunately i cannot remember what fw i was on before the official upgrade. i know for sure i was on the latest. maybe someone here knows what the latest was for my tab. is there anybody that can give me the exact fw code that was before i put the 4.2.2?
7.should i follow the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614 to the letter? does it work for my tab also?
thanks and sorry if any of the questions are noob!

i'm just posting to say that i'm hoping somebody answers you, because i hate the upgrade as well. it's not an upgrade. sony took their nice, well thought out UI enhancements (pretty much a first for an OEM in the post-gingerbread world), got rid of half of them, then ruined the others.
i am seriously disappointed in the hack job they did. sony did such a nice job with their skin on 4.1.2, why on earth did they need to ruin it? Their notification center was better than googles new one, especially for a tablet!
ugh.

1 - They should both work, I flashed mine with an older version without issues.
2 - Flashing your device with an FTF will NOT affect your bootloader status, in other words...No your bootloader will remain locked.
3 - Flashing an FTF is a Sony original firmware so no your warranty will not be voided, although I wouldn't declare that you flashed it with Flashtool. Unlocking your bootloader will void your warranty. There are ways to relock it but I don't know if they will be able to tell.
4 - No, downgrading doesn't break anything. Unlocking your bootloader will break Bravia engine so in order to restore Bravia you need to backup your TA before unlocking it.
5 - I was using build 370 so as long as you use the one for your device, you will be fine. (SGP312, WiFi Only)
6 - From what I know, the WiFi model only had build 370 on 4.1.2 and now build 136 for 4.2.2
7 - Yes, that is a good tutorial for using Flashtool, they are using it to flash an Xperia phone but the same applies for the tablet, just select the appropriate file when flashing obviously.
Good Luck! :highfive:

Hello everyone,
A friend of mine has recently bought a Neo V and I wouldn't like to miss the opportunity to tinker a bit with it
The thing is that, as the phone is subsidized, it will come with the operator's personalization, that usually clogs the phone, and I would like to debrand it, and leave her with the latest, stock SE's rom. Furthermore, I've read that there are chances of ICS coming to this phone, if I'm not wrong, from SE, but I think it's quite unlikely that her operator takes the time to release an update. I'm not interested in sim unlocking.
So, if I understood correctly, the only way to get a generic, debranded firmware is to unlock the bootloader, and that will cause the voiding of the warranty, isn't it?
EDIT: I was not interested in rooting to get privileges, basic user is enough for my friend, but it seems that (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650, at least in the Arc) you can get generic roms by rooting, and that wouldn't void your warranty, is that right?
you will void warranty only if you unlock the boot-loader , nothing else will void it
rooting will not void warranty
i want to debrand my neo
what to do?
what is my option?
any tutorial?
forgive me,i'm new to android
if i debrand can i update to
oficial rom later?
I just debranded my Neo with wotanserver. Easy as pie.
One thing I just have to mention is I have Android 2.3.3 and I am aware of 2.3.4 and future 4.0, but when I try software update it just keeps telling me I already have latest software.
I don't have any sim card in phone does that affect it?

maybe this due to the debranding?
Hi all, coming from IOS I find all this rooting / bootloader unlocking etc quite confusing as apparently there are some restrictions when wanting to go back to the stock (non-rooted) rom.
So here is my question:
I know relocking the bootloader is quite a specific job, I won't touch that.
As far as I know, if you only want to root the stock rom, you don't need to unlock that bootloader. Is that right?
As I'm on .62 with my mini pro, I need to downgrade to an older version, root it and then do an OTA upgrade to .62 again. I will keep my root then.
My question is: can I revert to a non-rooted version easily?
I still want to be able to test the upcoming ICS version.
I don't want to loose DRM etc, but as I understood this has nothing to do with rooting your device, only with unlocking the bootloader. Right?
Can this be confirmed?

No, you dont need to unlock yout bootloader yo get root. Rooting your device will have to affect with the bootloader and DRM is only removed from unlocking the bootloader. You can easily un-root your phone if you use Doom Lord's root method as he gives a file to unroot.
Thx for the info!
Or you can flash .58 firmware again and root will be gone,
Hello, I want to know how I can unroot my cell phone but I don´t understand when you say something about "Doom Lord's root method". I couldn´t find this in the forum. Can you tell me something about this method? Or can you explain me about how to unroot my Xperia Mini Pro.
PD: I am from Argentina and I have a SK17a.

well, i had to pick up a new phone and i ended up choosing the xperia mini (st15a version - don't really know what's the difference between this one and the st15i, but i want to keep the original version). The phone will be shipped this week and i'm already thinking about the rooting and unlocking the bootloader. But i've got some doubts. since i don't want to loose warranty so quickly (i was thinking about using unrooted stock rom for a couple of months so as not to loose it), i wanted to update de phone that is in stock 2.3.4 to 4.0.4, but i'm afraid that in the future the root and bootloader unlocking will be harder. what do you guys think? should i use 4.0.4 for a while and than downgrade or use ir on gb 2.3.4 a bit and than root/unlock bootloader? thanks in advance and sorry for the bad english.

If u dont want to loose ur warranty then just root the phone....dont unlock the bootloader.and there is no difficulties in that u r on GB or on ICS.
to root ur phone follow this instruction here.
Roting both gb and ics is easy but if u root ur phone u may not lose warranty but during unlocking the bootloader you will lose it but I recommend you to root gb and if you don'rt wanna root stay on gb since its quite more fast, smooth, good for gaming, and less laggy than stock ics....but if you really want ics then you could root it too without any difficuties....
Press THANKS if I helped..

Hi guys!
Thanks in advance for your help on this matter!
I have been patiently waiting for the official ICS update to arrive for my SE NEO (MT15) since way back when. I know O2 publicly announced they weren't going to bother updating but does anyone know if the Orange UK (now EE) will ever update this phone? Its SI is 1253-7641 if that is any help? Sony are no longer updating their thread of SI numbers so all might be lost in the change from SE to Sony and from Orange to EE!!
I have looked at doing this manually but am worried that as my phone is network locked I might brick it. Also in order to use custom ROMs there seems to be some touch-point modification which worries me too! (I might be wrong on these things).
Thanks again for your time!
1st thing you need to Unlock it from the Network, then unlock the boot loader (optional), & then Install the custom Rom whatever ICS ROM you like or even stock one.

Doesn't network unlock require a testpoint procedure? I know bootloader does. I am very hesitant to fiddle with hardware like that.
If information on whether or not Orange (EE) are going to ever produce an update I might wait until my contract runs out in a couple of months and get a new phone!
If you just want to use stock fw, simply flash it with falshtool, no need for SIM unlock or bootloader unlock.
Hey there! Just finished rooting my Xperia Z2. I have a few questions, as I'm still unclear the difference between rooting, having an unlocked bootloader, etc.
INFO FIRST:
Xperia z2, locked to Canadian Bell on Build 17.1.A.2.55 (D6503).
1. From this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934) I have the Canada - Bell - 1281-3795 firmware installed. From what it looks I can't unlock the bootloader with this firmware. What it looks like I need to do is flash an unbranded firmware to my phone, which would then allow me to run BLU on the flash tool. I could be horribly mistaken so I am asking the general public if this is the way to approach this. Will installing an unbranded official firmware brick my phone if its not the bell one, and will my bell service still work following this?
2. From this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758189) I want to flash this onto my already rooted phone. Is this impossible with a locked bootloader? Or can I do it using flashtool. I'm really new to all this so I don't understand what is what quite yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In the end I really just want that sound mod so basically guide me there.
Thanks, -Andrew
