I just downloaded the Sliding Messaging app. Love it except for the MMS issue. I have a Verizon S3 and the MMS doesn't work. I'm not connected to wifi. I clicked both presets for Verizon and it still doesn't work. I even went into the settings to manually set the correct settings but those don't show anything. Any suggestions?
There is a sliding messaging thread dedicated to that app, post in there.

Can you provide the link? I can't find it otherwise I would have posted it there. Thanks!
Not sure how to link since I'm on tapatalk. Search for sliding messaging and it should say something like Free sliding messaging. It's the one with the most pages.

well i replaced it with handcent, i have never seen the stock sms do that that, handcent does what i want
Stock SMS has always done that. Are you sure you are going to the messaging app and not contacts app? I can assure you what you want is a stock feature on Liquid and all CM/AOSP roms. If not factory reset and reinstall...or wait for slim to come out later today.

To much stuff going on with it. Can you send a long text, more then 160, does it split it or only send the first 160 or won't send it at all?

I use handcent on every platform from froyo to jellybean...and I still love it.. zero issues with mine and I'm on slim rom 4.1.1...
There is alot of options for main list..and dozens of options for different looks for conversation threads..you can choose from android to iphone little popuos in the text..or a simple text feel..handcent can suit basically anyone needs as long as you soend the time tweaking it out...it becomes awesome..just remember to backup the app using titanium backup...so when you change roms..your settings are still there. I hate if I had to change all my fonts and font colors I made..lol

If i'm texting my iphone friends in group text i can send one singke text. If i try to send a second without exiting the program then it sends a blank text to them all. I also have alot of texts that take forever to send. Stock messaging app is great for single texts to an iphone user or if i want to send four of the same text to my friend individually.

Searched the q&a thread going a few similar posts but nothing exactly like this.
Had anyone found a way with the stock text notifications to display the contacts name who is texting you rather than receive a message saying “new message" every time?
There has to be a fix for this...
Thanks in advance

I believe going into "messaging" then the menu button>settings>notification settings group and turn on the "preview messages" option, should do what you wanted

You can also use the multi page lock screens that are part of 4.2 and add a communications widget or stock messaging
Widget.

Right. But that isn't what the OP wants. Although I'm sure someone much smarter than me who develops these ROMs will add the requested feature as on option.

I believe this is a feature. Once you focus in on a group of text or photos, it prevents you from scrolling horizontally until you lift your finger.

Yep, you're completely right. It does work in the new version of Opera though.
Edit:
I thought it worked in Opera but I tried again and couldn't get it to work. Maybe it was a fluke.

I was able to do the scrolling freely with previous Dolphin-browser and Jetpack, but they updated recently and the feature was gone.
I really like to scroll freely... I remembered I didn't have this limitation on Rezound with any cutom ROMs.

Well it isn't a custom ROM issue, its a browser update issue.

I found one good alternative to Dolphin, actually it might be the replacement!
One Browser, I can scroll freely on it. User friendly with speed dial (which is one of the reason I stick to Dolphin).

I personally prefer Operas new speed dial feature.
The reason I stick with Dolphin is the tabs at the top. I can't find another decent browser that offers that.

This was brought up in the Q&A section, so I thought I would post this here. This tip applies to the stock text messaging app:
Pinch the screen in either direction within a text conversation and it will either increase or decrease the bubbles and font size.

The one thing I dislike about the phone, the SMS/MMS app...its soooo iPhone Cartoony!!! can't stand it lol. Using slide messaging pro so I dont have to stare at the default.
I really like the pop-ups on stock SMS so I'm still using that.. mainly bc they don't interrupt what you're doing. I use glowfly on all my phones as sms pop-ups, but if I'm watching a video it pauses the video and takes priority... stock SMS doesn't. it's like a mini q slide app. I like it.

Textra has been working very well for me. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the look of the stock SMS app

Hi,
I'm trying to switch my SMS app on my GS4 from what came with my phone to hangouts. Currently when I send an emoji through the built in sms app it is sent as MMS instead of sms (it switchs as soon as i type an emoji) which is fine with me. But then I go to start using hangouts for SMS and I type an emoji and the recipient gets nothing. Please help. I would like to switch.

I'm not sure why it does it but for some reason in certain versions of sms apps with Samsung phones it defaults to mms instead. I know there is an xposed app which changes default long messages back to sms vs mms. I use hangouts as well but it doesn't give me that issue. Then again I'm on an S3
Edit: have you changed the default messaging app to hangouts inside settings within hangouts?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Yes I have tried changing the default app within in hangouts. And the sending via MMS doesn't bother me. If it could fix it I'll send them through MMS inside hangouts if there were a way.

Try using the S5 SecMms_blue.apk.. It allows you to send emoji's through sms.. Just find your carriers or if your international based use theirs..
Just find it somewhere and install as a regular app. I'm not rooted nor plan on rooting.

Umm.. yea then you will not be able to accomplish what you want.. I know thats some Messaging apps use wifi to send pics, but the other person needs to have the same app..
Yeah def check out the xposed module. I think this is ridiculous. I know in the newest version of hangouts in the bottom left hand corner you can click and change back and forth between the two but if you add emoji it might not give you that option. It does me, but I'm running a rooted Moto Droid Mini.
