Hi guys, I use prototype-U kernel #55 a few days ago, and in No-frills to controll. In No-frills I can set the parameters, but in the actual parameters i can't see ther changes of the min. and max. CPU settings. Also in the CPU Spy Plus it shows that the scaling range of CPU are beetween 1008Mhz - 1008Mhz. However in the 'Time in state' section i see that the phone use the different speeds, but it's a little bit strange. With the #30 kernel everythings workes fine. Can anybody confirm that or maybe I missed something ?

seems like perflock issue. Maybe prototype-u missed it in defconfig.

I saw that too,in no-frills widget scalling only stays at 1008 frequency.
min-245
max-1008
intellidemand
deadline.
Do one thing... set the lowest freq and try navigating.. if it lags then freqs are working properly..
PS- I just compiled a build without perflock and it lags on 245 even though no frills widget shows 1008mhz
I do feel a lat while scrolling the screens.Probably is only a bug în the visual part.

It lags on the lower frequencies, so the setting is comitting, only the software visualising was wrong. Trying the new version.

It's not a big problem for me, I used my phone with this kernel at all day, and worked perfectly. I just wanted to know what is the problem.

BTW, when I'd like to set the io to testio, nofrealls give me back an 'you don't have the necessary right' message.
Anyway, testio worked perfectly, with speed, like never before, but a little more battery draining. In my case the balance of speed and good battery was smartass with cfq or noop.

frrst of all ever developer i have came across talks about using set cpu and it has specific version for xda community for free )try and top that )
2nd it has much more options then just over/under clocking and over/under volting.
3rd i havent found any problems with it yet so dont look for any other alternatives yet so hope this helps u with decision making.

-Yo momma's so stupid she finds iOS complicated.-
I like setCPU but when I slide the max cpu to 1000 and I reopen setcpu it jumps to 1300... I tried CPU tuner today and it has scaling and gives you a ton of option settings. I going to try it out for a while.
Im using no-frills

I have tried both of those, but I have had better results and prefer the interface and options of System Tuner
About to flash Sebastian's 1.4. I was just wondering what applications people are fond of for undervolting and over clocking.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Under the voltage tab.. afaik voltage tabs only appear on the these overclocking tabs only if your kernel supports undervolting...stock kernels dont support it..

Or you could use System Tuner
SetCPU is the general go-to app for its straightforward appearance. The voltage tab sometimes does not appear even for a custom kernel with voltage tables; compatibility issues the app maker needs to correct.
Try System Tuner for an interface with a lot of other useful options and info with graphics.
Incredicontrol offers an interface similar in layout to SetCPU, and can toggle the Force Fast/AC Charge option for kernels with that have it. However, its voltage tables have had gray text on a white background for some users lately, making it a minor nuisance to read. Got the problem on my setup.

Personally do -75mV across the board typically, pushing -82.5mV testing. -50mV should be reasonable for less accomadating cores.
All depends on your own CPU quality. Don't set tables on boot or by script unless they prove stable first. Or, just redo again each boot manually to be safest.

Funky kernel doesn't have adjustable voltage settings. It has a fixed -50mV undervolt. Not sure on dsb's kernel.
So for Global Sense 3.6 ROMs, what kernels will work for UV?

I'm pretty sure dsb's works, but I haven't run Sense in a month, so I couldn't tell you what apps work with it. Try IncrediContol if you haven't already.
Also, good to see you here too. I'm still trying to help them out in the Charge forum when I can, but it's getting quieter and quieter over there.
I'm on Infection 2.9.1 and I also flashed the latest Hiro kernel. I downloaded Trickster MOD to change settings. I'm getting a lot of reboots but I'm also trying to save as much battery as possible. I have no idea what settings to mess with and what to change them too. My phone settings had a Performance settings where you can change CPU settings and I also have Trickster like I said, just don't know which to use. I think both are on which might be causing problems? I posted some screenshots, could some please help me get something going? - Thanks guys!

OK I got that part but what settings should I use? I'm not good with kernels and these apps, changing voltages, etc. My phone has been overheating and boot looping a lot. I also want to get best battery life possible. I just don't know what settings to use. Also if I'm using trickster to tweak my CPU shouldn't the performance in my phone settings be shut off? I'm open to using another tuner app.

Make the sleep frequency be 384 (whatever the 300 MHz is) been running that way since launch of 2.9.1, no issues, besides the native tether (only buggy issue I use) and whatever else others reported, I assume. Never used the features that this report so I don't know.

There is an option in kernel tuner for it. Some kernels do not support changing that setting though.
Now that he released it, this is what I used on infection the past week when 2.9.1 came out. It works amazingly. On install it gives you options for sleep 2 wake and screen off frequency (I set mine to on and 384 with no adverse issues)

So this kernel will replace Hiro which I'm using now?
And you keep saying to change sleep freq to 384? I'm guessing that will fix my wake issues. What about fixing my battery life and boot loops?
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
Can anyone else chime in? This is what I'm trying to accomplish.
1. Fix boot loops
2. Stop the over heating
3. Make battery last as long as possible
4. Fix the wake up issues. When I press power button to wake phone the capacitive buttons turn on but the screen doesn't.
These are the issues that I'm trying to fix. Like I said I'm currently on infection 2.9.1 using lastest hiro kernel. I need some helping finding the right kernel to use and what settings to use with kernel tuner or trickster mod app doesn't matter.

That kernel will replace hiro. You can set screen off freq upon flashing in recovery. The below pictures is my current settings for the past week and only had one freeze (it was testing something out for the kernel before released). In the picture, screen off and idle freq are disabled as you change settings when flashing the kernel. (During install, aroma will ask if you want to do default or custom install, custom for more options.) Pictures are in thumb format so less space is used in the forum. OK thanks for the detailed instructions I'll try it and see if my phone improves.
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
You can change second core to something else. Lionheart is a performance based governor. I use it on second core with mpdecision having a longer wait to turn on core 1 for my personal optimal battery saving/performance. Core 0 is set for power save bias so only when I need speed, core 1 will kick on with some higher MHz while CPU 0 catches up a little later.
Battery savings isn't too great, but unless you are doing some CPU intensive stuff, it does pretty well on battery.
This is CPU times today... Mind you, I used my phone for a total of 4hrs from 530-1640. The reason it stayed at 192 a lot was because I just did texting, web browsing and some other low CPU intensive tasks so far today (about 20-30mins of awake time in 192 was screen off streaming a local radio station.) Ran buttery smooth though.

Just wondering if this is normal behavior, I'm running cm10.1 which has the deep sleep fix (ls2_hsic or something like that)
I tried using some of the other governors but I found them all to be choppy , I know the hardware is not the best in this tab due its age but when running performance governor at 1.4 it feels fine .
thanks

I think performance governor runs at max speed all the time, but you should be able to set up a "screen off"-profile, using another governor who allows deepsleep.

Exactly, why would you set to performance at 1.4? Your tab will just burn up. Try interactive/row. Seems to be the best combination for me.

You most likely have a performance option that came with the Custom Rom or are running an app that has System App access , which will over ride a User App. Double check all apps and settings to see if you have any other programs that have system user rights to your CPU, that is most likely what is over taking your desired settings.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm on the Android Revolution HD 8.0 ROM now, that is probably the reason for this. Can I do something with this?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Open up the app your using to undervolt, these should be an option to restore default values. Once back on default go ahead and open the programs' App info and disable or freeze it. Reboot and run your CPU spy app and see what is taking charge of your voltage. Also possible your voltages are not sticking which has to do with the ROM. Id suggest running profiles for CPU rather then undervolt. I. E. 534 mhz - 1434 mhz when screen on, 348-1012 when screen off. SetCPU is what i use. You have less of a chance of frying the motherboard and doing irreversible damage to your phone internally
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
Undervolt has to do with lowering the power that goes to the battery. when desired mhz occurs, where as underclocking has to do with specifically CPU processors and with a specified setting (screen off, music app on) occurring. Just to clear up my previous post. Undervolting the battery use to do wonders on phones a few years back because of all around poor battery life on most devices. But nowadays it is pretty pointless.
