After trying to flash with odin a recovery I got the msg Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I have a custom rom (RR 4.1.2)
I have a backup from cwm
How can I restore this backup from odin, is it possible?
or
I have to install the rom again, install cwm and then restore the backup?
Please

Flash a stock based kernel like the Philz kernel you will get a recovery along with it, restore nandroid backup.

One more step, please!!!
Can someone tell me how to custom restore from my backup. My backup is 5 months old and don't want to totaly restore it with the recovery.
what options do I have to choose at the custom recovery screen?
1. The bootloader (I can enter into recovery mode but cannot boot normal). Am I gonna loose the recovery func? because when backed up didn't have it!
2. The kernel (To make the phone to boot into recovery I flashed the Philz kernel)
3. ex-tweaks start up values (This is what I mess, if I can restore the values from my backup everything will boot normal)
PLEASE!
Edit-
I try to restore the boot from my backup but error MD5 mismatch came up
Please help
2nd edit
How I fixed it:
After I was trying kernels from the date of my last backup, one worked. The only program until now missing was extweaks, so I first reset the profile from the recovery screen and then I installed it.
Everything works now

(Q) HELP...Cant get out of Recovery!

So I installed Rom manager and rooted but have not put any custom roms on the phone yet. Only things I have done was to put VOODOO lag fix and battery widget on phone. I made 2 backup files in ClockworkMod recovery under the nandroid option and thought I would verify that the last backup I did was good. I went through the rom manager into the recovery and into backup/restore and restored my last backup in ClockworkMod recovery. It started the backup and on the screen right now it shows it is restoring system and then starts restoring data and gets to this point and stops:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoreing data...
fota
It has been on the screen for about 45min. If I pull the battery and restart the phone it comes right back to the recovery screen. The only change I made on the phone prior to restoring my backup was to go into rom manager and updated clockworkmod to the latest version. I can get into download mode. Would I just need to get it into download mode and copy a different backup file onto the phone? Any help is appreciated!
Go into download mode and re-flash from the computer. Odin is your friend...

Clockworkmod Backup deleting external Apps?

Hello,
I got some strange errors:
When doing a backup with cwm recovery 4.0.1.4/5 some or all apps stored in .android_secure get deleted and i have to restore them with Titanium Backup!
And I've noticed, that the old cwm 4.0.0.2 gets opened when booting to recovery via rom manager (and pressing volume/home buttons)!
(Even manual installing the new recovery won't change this, except that with 4.0.0.2 backups work)
Why is the old recovery always restored? Oo
I'm running newest villian rom with that nymphentamine kernel in version 2.0.0.5
I came from villian rom 2.1 with the cf-root 4.1 kg3 kernel installed, but did a full wipe!
Hope you could understand my problem, my English isn't the best :-(
//EDIT:
Even flashing kernel with odin won't fix my problem!
Another try to explain my problem:
I flash a new cmw version with rom manager (or odin or video the old 4.0.0.2 cwm) and as soon as i restart the device the old recovery gets restored and i don't know why! there is no update.zip or something wich could install the old recovery again!
Please help me, i'm getting mad with this!

[Q] Error trying to restore backup Clockwork

Hello there guys.
I've done a full backup with clockwork but if i try to restore it i get a error message about the boot image...i can't restore it. now i was able to restore system..data..and so on via advanced restore...i get no boot animation but the system is up an running. i can't get the wifi to work...what can i do now?
I used a clockwork 4.0.1.4 with root enabled..i flashed it whit Odin.
Thanks guys
forgot to mention I own a Galaxy S 2
Flash a clean stock rom as your backup is corrupt.

Same issue
I took a full backup with CWM (4.0.0.2) to test a Kitchen ROM. After getting it to work I wanted to switch back to my standard ROM (CF-Root KE7), but it failed with the boot image ("error flashing boot image").
If the backup was corrupt I would expect the MD5 to fail, but it didn't. Like the OP I was able to restore all the other items one by one, which now gives me a Frankenstein ROM: KE7 with the Kitchen-selected Kernel (Ninphetamine) and baseband (KH1).
I'll flash a new stock ROM with CF-Root again, but I am doubting CWM now.

[Q] Unable to CMW restore

I have a backup previously saved onto SD card.
And then after failing to move onto another rom, I want to restore back to my old one. So I flashed stock rom WKE7.
And rooted it, so I have ROM manager, CWM and Superuser.
I go into CWM and choose Restore, and select it.
Then it reboots to recover, but gets stuck on:
"Checking MD5 sums..."
Any help please?
Thanks in advance
Try turning your phone off and booting into recovery using the buttons and then restore. It's also best to backup from recovery rather than using the cwm app or rom manager.

I have turnt phone off and tried to boot into recovery. That is the place I get stuck.
I choose back and restore, restore, then choose the restore file. then...
ClockworkMode Recovery v4.0.0.2
With the MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring bot image...
Error while flashing bootimage!

[Q] Recovery mode

Guys, currently I'm using DorimanX kernel. It has the latest CWM which is version 6. But I dislike CWM v6 because when I backup my ROM it will give out 2 folders that are backup and blobs. It is quite irritating to me because before this I copied the backed up ROM into my laptop and back to my phone but an error persisted, it said "MD5 mismatch". Thus, I would love to go back to CWM v5 without losing the DorimanX kernel, is that anyhow possible?
Thanks in advance.

There is no need to go back to an older CWM recovery version.
(You would have to flash a new kernel with the other CWM. Or flash a temporarily CWM just before using CWM recovery.)
Boot into CWM recovery, then select BackUp & Restore. There you can change the backup format from dup (incremental backup format with blobs) to tar (classic full backup).
Good luck !
